The Glazers are looking to sell up for a world-record £6billion after 18 years at the helm.
They received fresh offers from British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim last month.
But the Athletic claims boss Ten Hag will be limited to just a £100million transfer kitty, regardless of the final takeover decision.
It’s said that United cannot go on a mammoth spending spree due to Financial Fair Play rules.

Ten Hag has made no secret of his desire to reinforce the squad with several world-class players.
But he will have to axe numerous current stars if he wants more transfer funds added to the pot.
It means United may only be able to strengthen one or two key areas this summer.
The Red Devils are looking for a new goalkeeper amid doubts over David De Gea’s expiring contract.

Ten Hag also wants a new centre forward, with a midfielder and winger also on his wish list.
But unless buyers are found for misfits like Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek, Ten Hag will have to see just how far £100m will stretch in the current climate.
Asked about summer funds amid takeover talks, Ten Hag said: “I don’t have an influence on that… also I don’t know.
“The only thing what I know is that Man United is one of the biggest clubs and I think it’s among maybe the two biggest clubs in the world from a fanbase perspective.
“So I think this club has to compete for the highest in the world, so Champions League, Premier League.
“But in football you need funds to construct squads because at the end of the day, the level from your players makes you successful or not.
“Everyone knows you need funds to construct a squad. High level players cost a lot of money.
“I, we, see this as a project. In a project you are in windows, you strengthen your squad needs or make refreshments, so you get more balance and you bring young players in.
“But at the end of the day we want to be in the Champions League and we want to compete and knock them all out, so then we have a way to go.” More

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s assist streak has produced plentiful Dream Team points – but is his limited schedule a problem?

ONE way or another, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.4m) always finds a way to finish among the Premier League’s top assist providers.Just a month ago, such a prospect seemed impossible.
Liverpool’s No66 had just two league assists to his name on April 8th and it looked as if his disappointing campaign from a defensive perspective would be compounded by a lack of concrete output in the creative department.
However, the 24-year-old flicked a switch and notched six assists in the space of five fixtures, a fruitful burst facilitated by Jurgen Klopp’s increasing inclination to give Alexander-Arnold minutes in midfield.

The Reds’ upsurge has probably come too late for them to make top four this season but plenty of Dream Team gaffers have enjoyed their renaissance of late.
Mohamed Salah (£8.5m) has banked 72 points across the last eight Game Weeks and the Anfield faithful have even been treated to a glimpse of an unhampered Diogo Jota (£4.4m) following some frustrating injury setbacks.
But it’s the form of Alexander-Arnold, who is now joint-fifth among Premier League assist providers for 2022/23, that has excited Dream Team bosses most as the England international is a top-tier asset when in the groove.
His assist streak came to an end against Fulham on Wednesday night but he swooped the Star Man award to continue his purple patch.
Liverpool’s local hero has now amassed 72 points in the last ten Game Weeks.
This is a remarkable run for a defender who has only contributed to one clean sheet in his last nine outings.

No doubt many Dream Team managers will be thinking of using one of their May transfers (available from Friday morning) to bring Alexander-Arnold into their team.
And that may well be a smart move but it’s worth noting the main drawback: Liverpool’s fixtures.
It’s not that Klopp’s side face a difficult run-in (Brentford, Leicester, Aston Villa, Southampton) it’s that they have just four fixtures left to fulfil before the end of the season.
Six teams will be busier in the coming weeks and so assets from Manchester City, Newcastle, Manchester United, Brighton, Chelsea (not so much) and West Ham have an edge in terms of the schedule.
Saying that, Alexander-Arnold has the necessary pedigree to outscore some quality players despite a fixture deficit.
Something for gaffers to ponder when plotting their strategy for the season’s climax. More

Man Utd ‘move to sign Harry Maguire replacement with Bruno Fernandes’ agent leading transfer negotiations’

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly working with Bruno Fernandes’ agent as they track a potential replacement for Harry Maguire. The club captain is well-respected at Old Trafford but could leave this summer after falling down the pecking order.

The Red Devils made Maguire the world’s most expensive defender when they swooped for the star in 2019.
But Maguire has struggled to convince some fans since his £80m move from Leicester and has lost his first-team place this season.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo report that United are making moves to find a new centre-back – and Maguire’s team-mate Fernandes could play a role.
The midfielder shares an agent with United target Goncalo Inacio, which could be crucial for the negotiations.

The report claims United have got in touch with agent Miguel Pinho to work out if any transfer can be done.
Inacio has played for Sporting Lisbon since 2020 after emerging from their youth academy.
He has impressed since claiming a first-team was linked with Man United last summer.
The 21-year-old has made 29 appearances this season for a Sporting side who sit fourth in the Portuguese league.

Ignacio also played both games against Arsenal in the Europa League and scored in the first leg before his side stunned the Londoners at the Emirates.
United have had great success with buying from Sporting Lisbon previously, with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani arriving from the Jose Alvalade Stadium previously.
Along with a new defender, the Red Devils are also going for a new striker and potentially a new keeper. More

Now, he will put his training to the test having linked up with superstar Dutch house DJ Oliver Heldens for a set in the metaverse.
Grealish, 27, tweeted: “DJ Grealo’s debut…Together with @OKX, @OliverHeldens and I are holding my first ever DJ set in the #OKXCollective metaverse. You won’t want to miss this.”
Grealish, who last season helped City to the Premier League title, confessed his love for music before last year’s winter World Cup.

But he stopped short of revealing how he would celebrate his latest incredible achievement.
The 22-year-old chipped home the second goal of the evening, after Nathan Ake’s header had put City in front.
This saw the Norwegian overtake the previous record tally of 34 – set by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer during the 1993-94 and 1994-95 campaigns respectively.
When asked how he planned to celebrate the sensational milestone, Haaland insisted it would be business as usual.

Manchester City are on the hunt for a remarkable treble – a unique feat treasured by their neighbours Manchester United.
Haaland took a relaxed view when he told Sky Sports: “It’s a special night and a special moment.
“I will go home and play some video games, have some food, sleep and then tomorrow I will come in and think about Leeds. This is my life.”
Reporter David Jones then asked him to elaborate on which game he was playing, to which the star striker blushed and sheepishly replied: “I cannot say because it is too embarrassing.”

Later on, Jones teased the topic again, and probed: “Is it FIFA, Erling?”
But the striker refused to budge, shutting him down by saying: “I cannot say”.
To the dismay of United fans, when asked if he would trade his goals to win the historic treble of Premier League title, FA Cup and Champions League, Haaland simply stated: “Yes”.
Haaland now has 51 goals this season in just 45 games across all competitions.
The ex-Dortmund star is just 12 away from breaking Dixie Dean’s all-time English top-flight record of 62 in a single campaign.
In a touching moment, the superstar was given a guard of honour by City’s staff and players as he made his way from the Etihad pitch at full-time.

Manager Pep Guardiola was also full of praise.
The City manager told Sky Sports: “It’s unbelievable how many goals he has already scored.
“He deserved the guard of honour because it’s an incredible milestone. Maybe one day he can break his own record.”

Fans called into TalkSport claiming: “He’s the best striker the league has ever seen”.
Haaland’s achievement is even more impressive given it is his first in England since joining from Borussia Dortmund last summer. More

The victory, which came courtesy of Mo Salah’s 39th minute penalty, was their fifth on the bounce – having put together some momentum in April.
They hadn’t kept a clean sheet in any of the previous four victories, however, conceding seven goals despite their wins.
Klopp’s men last kept a clean sheet on April 4, when they drew 0-0 at Chelsea, managed by caretaker boss Bruno at the time.
And the feat appeared to make Alisson emotional after the game.

Klopp told Premier League Productions: “Alisson was close to crying with a clean sheet.
“It’s pretty rare for us this season. It’s very nice, especially for him.”
The Brazilian twice had to be alert to deny his compatriot Carlos Vinicius.
Alisson has kept 12 clean sheets in 34 Premier League appearances this term.

This number represents a significant drop off from last season, when he kept 20 clean sheets in 36 Prem outings.
Liverpool’s win saw them climb to within four points of Manchester United in fourth.
But the Red Devils possessing two games in hand likely gives the Reds too much to do to claw their way into the Champions League for next season.
On his side’s late season form, Klopp revealed: “That’s what I said, we have to try to do something we can use.
“Something we can build on in the next season. That’s exactly what we did and I’m pleased with that.” More
