Man Utd ‘plan to pair Harry Kane with Benfica star Goncalo Ramos in sensational £200m-plus double transfer swoop’

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly weighing up a potential record breaking bid for Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos – and plan to partner him with Harry Kane.Spurs and England striker Kane is United’s main target this summer as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his striking options.

However, the Red Devils are reportedly prepared to spend big on other targets as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani battle to become the club’s next owner.
According to The Mirror, 21-year-old striker Ramos is seen as an exciting prospect for the future and has scored 25 goals in all competitions for the Portuguese giants this season.
The report adds that United are now set to initiate contact with the Portuguese international who scored a hat-trick at the World Cup against Switzerland.

The report adds that it could take a fee of between £70-£100million for Benfica to part ways with one of their star players.
Any potential deal could eclipse the club record fee of £89.3m United paid Juventus in August 2016 for Paul Pogba.
The report states that Ten Hag is an admirer of Ramos and wants to work with him.
The Dutchman will be aware United need more firepower with Marcus Rashford the club’s top scorer on 29 goals followed by Bruno Fernandes with 11.

England’s record goal scorer Kane is also on United’s radar but they face having to pay £100m upfront for the 29-year-old.
The England skipper is under contract with the North London side until 2024 and Spurs are faced with the prospect of having to sell their star man this summer – or lose him for free a year later.
Sun Sport revealed last month that United are confident of signing Kane should Spurs fail to qualify for the Champions League.
The Red Devils believe that missing out on Europe’s premier club competition would see the north Londoners reduce their £100m asking price.
The Old Trafford outfit would also be able to increase Kane’s wages by £100,000 to £300,000 per week.
United face competition for Kane from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich who are looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowksi. More

However, Martin Odegaard’s masterclass helped Arsenal to survive the heat and keep their title hopes alive by inspiring the North London outfit to a gruelling 2-0 at St. James’ Park.

He was once considered a more exciting talent than Harry Kane – who has gone on to become Tottenham’s all-time record scorer.
But now he is searching for a new club after third-tier side Morecambe, who were relegated on the final day of the season, released him at the end of his two-year contract.
A little less than two years Kane’s senior, Obika made a name for himself as Tottenham’s top scorer in the academy during the 2008/09 season.
He also claimed the fans’ award for best young player and became an England U19 international.

His impressive displays earned him two appearances in the Uefa Cup during the first few months of Harry Redknapp’s reign at the club.
And he began training with the first team – which included the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart.
Recalling those days, Obika told The Guardian: “I can’t even remember Modric losing the ball in training.
“He set the standard: this is where we have to get to. You had to raise your level.”

However, Obika failed to reach those heights at White Hart Lane.
After playing two cup games in the 2012/13 campaign, he left Spurs permanently in 2014 – joining League One side Swindon.
That came after loan spells with Milwall, Yeovil Town, Charlton Athletic, Crystal Palace and Brighton.
Obika registered 28 goals in 108 games for third-tier side Swindon, before he joined Oxford United for two seasons.
In 2019, he returned to top-flight football by moving to Scotland and signing for St Mirren.
And after scoring 20 times in 77 games, he headed back to England in 2021, penning a two-year deal with Morecambe.
But he hit the back of the net just twice in two campaigns with the Lancashire outfit – suffering a serious injury ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Now he has been released at the end of his contract and is searching for a new club.
Former Arsenal man Dan Crowley was also released by Morecambe following their relegation to the fourth tier. More

Ex-Arsenal ace who Arsene Wenger called a ‘special talent’ and pushed the club to sign released by League One side

And he is not the only big name to be released by the Shrimps, with ex-Everton forward Oumar Niasse and former Spurs kid Jonathan Obika also leaving.
Morecambe manager Derek Adams said: “To the departing players, it is very difficult as some of them have been with me here for a significant period of time.”
Midfield ace Crowley joined Morecambe on a free transfer In January after leaving Dutch side Willem II.
But despite scoring twice in 14 games, Crowley was unable to prevent the Shrimps from being relegated to League Two.

And he is now hoping for a swift return to football, six years after being let go by Arsenal.
Crowley joined the Gunners from Aston Villa as a whizkid in 2013 after being watched by Wenger – with the legendary manager then pushing for the club to bring him on board.

He spent time out on loan with Barnsley, Oxford and Go Ahead Eagles.
And Crowley even received special praise from Wenger, who said in 2016: “He is a player who has a huge talent.

“He’s very creative and he’s very good in the final third. He’s a special talent as well, he can finish and he can do the final ball.
“What he needs is to develop physically a little bit and already I think he has made a big strides forward there and also cope with the responsibility of being the playmaker.
“In the Premier League today, maybe it is a bit early for him but to carry that long process through, it’ll be interesting for him.”
However, Crowley ended up being let go for Arsenal in 2017 and ended up joining Dutch outfit Willem II.
He blasted the Gunners’ academy in 2019, saying: “The thing with Arsenal is they play a certain way and not many teams play that way – and I think that’s a problem as well.
“They don’t teach you about going on loan to the lower league clubs – to go from such a big club like Arsenal, playing with great players, to then playing a completely different way in League One.
“That’s what’s wrong with the youth system in England. That’s nothing against the first team because the first team have to win, they don’t have the time really to worry about the young players. So, I don’t put any blame on them.
“But something does have to change and that’s why everyone is coming out to Holland and Germany, because they need game time.”
Crowley then had spells at SC Cambuur, Birmingham, Hull and Cheltenham before rejoining Willem II in 2021, and subsequently Morecambe in January. More

The 70-year-old held back tears during his Sky farewell appearance at the end of April after he was given a round of applause in the studio.
Sky Sports confirmed that they had mutually agreed with Souness  that he would be stand down from his role as a pundit on the end of his contract after 15 years with the broadcaster.
Sky Sports posted a tribute video to Twitter of Souness over the years, thanking him for his time as a pundit.
But writing in his blog, disgraced former Sky host Keys claims to have spoken to a “Sky insider”, and alleged the broadcaster chose to axe Souness following his comments following the Chelsea vs Spurs game.

Keys said: “It turns out it was decided to dispense with Graeme’s services the moment he referred to football being a ‘man’s game’.
“Remember? He used that phrase after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw v Spurs in August. His comments caused a bit of a stir. He was clumsy in his phraseology. He didn’t mean harm, but you can’t say that anymore.
“Football is simply a game – enjoyed by everyone. And we should celebrate that.
“I think most people felt that Graeme had been clumsy and he’s a much loved character, so they were happy to give him the benefit of the doubt – but senior management at Sky certainly weren’t.

Keys comments come after, writing for the Daily Mail, Souness said he remains “open for business”.
Souness originally said on Sky last August: “It’s a man’s game all of a sudden again.”
He added: “Men at it, blow for blow, and the referee letting them get on with it.”
Speaking about the end of his punditry career with Sky last month, Souness said: “I’m going to miss you guys, the guys behind the scenes, our makeup girl, I’ll miss you all.
“You know, for me, I decided that football management wasn’t for me anymore. I had the wrong temperament for it, the wrong personality.
“And then I was given the opportunity to do this and it’s been magnificent. It’s just been the most fantastic time for me, because I love football, I care about football and I worry about it going forward.
“But in Sky’s hands, it’s in good hands, safe hands, and I think over the years we’ve created a Premier League with great detail and I think we look after football very well.”
Sky Sports director of football Gary Hughes paid tribute to Souness as he said: ‘We will miss Graeme’s no-nonsense approach in the studio – matched only by his playing style.”
Keys left Sky Sports in January 2011 after making derogatory comments about women.
Keys, 66, was caught on camera asking pundit Jamie Redknapp if he had slept with an ex by asking him, “Did you smash it?”.

Co-presenter Andy Gray, 67, was fired after making sexist comments about a female assistant referee.
