Tambling starred for the Blues between 1959 and 1970.
The forward scored 202 goals in 370 appearances for Chelsea – winning the League Cup during his time in West London.
Tambling’s record as the Blues’ all-time leading goalscorer stood until 2013 – when Lampard bagged the 203rd of his 211 Chelsea strikes.
The two Chelsea legends have a great relationship, with Tambling having visited him at the club’s Cobham training base.
Tambling brought along his star-struck six-year-old grandson – named Frankie after the Chelsea caretaker boss.
The youngster was able to kick a ball around with Joao Felix and Christian Pulisic, with the duo having pictures taken with him, as well as Tambling.
On his trip to Chelsea’s training ground, the Blues legend told their website at the time: “It’s been an amazing day, my first time visiting Cobham. It’s an unbelievable set-up and a lot different to where we used to train.
“I loved every minute of it, seeing Frank, watching the players train and then speaking to them afterwards.
“It was brilliant to see the players playing with Frankie, it really does put a smile on my face seeing young people enjoying football.”

ARSENAL are reportedly interested in defender Mohamed Simakan – despite the star recently signing a long-term deal. The club are believed to be keen to strengthen defensively during the summer and have been linked to many names, including Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.
Tall RB Leipzig defender Simakan is reportedly also on the shortlist.
The Guardian claim that Arsenal have shown “strong interest” in the star.
But the club could have a real fight on their hands to secure Simakan after he signed a five-year deal in December.

The 23-year-old is now contracted to the German side until 2027, putting Leipzig in a strong negotiating position.
Arsenal have had a reputation for spending money wisely under Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu but may need to pay top dollar to land Simakan.
He can play both right-back and centre-back, potentially providing cover across the back four for Arsenal.
The Frenchman has made 21 Bundesliga appearances this season, scoring one and assisting one.

The Gunners have had to reshuffle the defence in recent weeks due to injuries.
The loss of Saliba in March has proved potentially decisive to their title challenge.
The London club had conceded only 25 times in 27 league matches which Saliba started before letting in 14 goals in the eight games after his injury. More

There is no sign an agreement will be reached to extend his deal beyond 2024.
And new Blues owner Todd Boehly is keen to avoid players entering the final 12 months of their deals for fear of them departing on free transfers.
Chelsea, who will not be in the Champions League next season, are also wanting to decrease the size of their squad following a £600million spending spree over the past two windows.
A host of midfield options – N’Golo Kante, Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount and Carney Chukwuemeka – means Chelsea can afford to offload Kovacic.

According to The Guardian, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Manchester United are all interested in the former Real Madrid man.
A move to Bayern is perhaps the most logical destination for Kovacic given he would reunite with Thomas Tuchel – who he won the Champions League under at Chelsea in 2021.
But Man Utd will also be fighting for his signature as they seek world-class midfielders to go alongside Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.
And Man City could pursue the Croat if they lose Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.

Kovacic signed a deal to permanently join the Blues in 2019 after a one-year loan spell at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea paid in the region of £40m, with the World Cup finalist going on to rack up more than 200 appearances, six goals and 15 assists.
Along with his Champions League winner’s medal, Kovacic has also won the Europa League and Club World Cup during his time in West London.
And he could be heading out of Chelsea’s exit door with England international Mount.
The Blues academy prospect has failed to agree a new deal with his boyhood club and is set to become a free agent next summer.
It means Boehly and Co could opt to cash in on him in the coming months, with Liverpool keeping a keen eye on the Three Lions star. More

Ferdinand, 44, admitted that there is an existing WhatsApp group for the United stars that won the 2008 Champions League, so they can keep in touch.
Some of the players from the group played key roles in the Red Devils’ success under Sir Alex Ferguson between 2006 and 2013.
The club picked up five Premier League titles in the period and reached three Champions League finals, losing in 2009 and 2011.
The retired defender admitted that some of the people in the group are club legends such as Wayne Rooney, Darren Fletcher, Nani and Evra.

However, Evra, 41, is the target of some brutal banter between the former team-mates, leading to him coming in and out of the group.
Ferdinand said on The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan: “Evra just comes in and out because he gets bullied in there.
“He gets ripped and all you see is, ‘Patrice has left the group’.
“And then you get a text a couple of hours later, ‘Can you let me back in please, add me, add me’.”

Ferdinand was then asked by host Gilligan about the famous white suit that he wore when he was announced as a Man United player in 2002.
He responded by sending a voice note to the WhatsApp group asking if he should bring it back, to which Evra replied: “Bro, this is fire, you have to wear it!”
Evra sent the message directly to Ferdinand as to avoid being targeted in the group chat.
Ferdinand said: “So, he’s come outside of the group because he knows if he says that inside of the group, they’ll kill him.
“He’ll be told to get out of the group.”
Ferdinand wore the suit following his record transfer move from Leeds to Manchester United for £29.1million.

He also ended a six-year wait for silverware by lifting the Carabao Cup back in February.
And now he has taken a leaf out of Man Utd icon Ferguson’s book by bringing club chiefs in to meet the players after matches – irrespective of the result.
According to The Mail, one or two board members visit the dressing room after each fixture.
They are often David Gill and Michael Edelson.

This is an attempt to encourage unity within the club, a move that has reportedly been received positively by players and staff.
Man Utd legend Gary Neville recently discussed the tradition during Ferguson’s time at the club.
It came after Chelsea owner Todd Boehly received criticism following reports of him addressing Blues players after a defeat.
Speaking on The Overlap, Neville said: “Believe it or not at Manchester United for the 20 years I played there, the executives, the board of the club would come into the dressing room after every game when Sir Alex was there.

“He [Sir Alex] would invite them in – it was after the team talk – it was to shake Sir Alex’s hand and the players hands, say well done or commiserations on the odd time we lost a game.
“That happened for 20 years so it’s part of what we understood.
“They never once commented on performance. They never once addressed the players. They never once spoke about anything to do with tactics.
“It was just purely to keep the club together from top to bottom.”
Man Utd face Wolves on Saturday as they bid to move four points clear of fifth-place Newcastle.
And a place in the top four could be added to with an FA Cup triumph next month when Ten Hag’s men take on Manchester City at Wembley. More

Solskjaer, 50, insisted that there would be “fights” in the dressing room when he was at the Red Devils.
Before he was a manager working at clubs like Molde – and recommending a young Erling Haaland to United – he gained legendary status at the club as a player.
He spent 11 years at Old Trafford, making 235 appearances in the Premier League and playing alongside some of the club’s biggest legends
The Norwegian praised leaders such as Roy Keane and Gary Neville for “shaking up” the team after a bad game, something that he argued was needed.

Solskjaer said: “The lads in that dressing room were fantastic.
“Keano was the leader, the one everyone looked up to.
“Gary (Neville) is still the busiest back then as well.
“Winners, who hated losing. They had a few fights, like you should do, after bad games.

“If you do that to the boys now, they will get their dad, or their mum, or their agents… snowflakes.
“Not many of today’s lot would have survived in that dressing room.”
Solskjaer was recently praised by former team-mate Dwight Yorke who suggested that Erik Ten Hag has not been a massive improvement on him despite the perception of the club changing.
The former striker pointed out the Red Devils have lost more league games this season (nine) than in either of Solskjaer’s full terms in charge (eight in 2019-20 and six in 2020-21). More

The option would come into effect for the next rights cycle between 2025 and 2028, according to the Daily Mail.
This season has seen complaints from supporters that have not been able to watch some matches that had been rescheduled and played in vacant broadcast slots.
Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Crystal Palace in March was not shown despite kicking off in Sky Sports’ 2pm broadcast slot because of the FA Cup draw.
The broadcaster was not permitted to show the game, leaving fans with a Sunday afternoon without televised football on the channel.

Two Manchester United matches against Brentford and Leeds have not been televised despite being played on mid-week evenings after being rescheduled.
A number of Premier League clubs are believed to have criticised the system which has been touted as “outdated”.
This is thought to have been heard by the Premier League as it is expected to include a way for broadcasters to purchase more games when it launches the UK rights tender in October.
England’s top division is expected to follow the EFL by selling more matches for the 2025/26 to the 2027/28 campaigns.

The report suggests that the number of games available will increase from 200 to between 260 and 280.
The traditional blackout between 2.45pm and 5.15pm is expected to remain.
However, the increase of televised fixtures would see fewer and fewer games kick off at 3pm on a Saturday.
It is thought that on average there would only be three games in that slot for the Premier League’s 34 weekend rounds. More
