Mikel Arteta brings dog called ‘Win’ to Arsenal training to boost morale with pooch attending Ramsdale contract signing

MIKEL ARTETA is no stranger to utilising strange methods to give Arsenal the edge over their opponents. From blaring “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from speakers before a clash at Anfield to get his stars used to the atmosphere, to playing dodgeball in training, the ideas have kept flowing.

And Arteta’s latest brain child has seen him bring in man’s best friend.
The eccentric Spaniard has transferred in a dog named “Win” in a bid to lift morale.
The Times revealed the chocolate Labrador was brought in following research which shows petting a dog can be calming and reduce stress levels.
The canine has been a regular at London Colney since last month and comes into training a few times a week and roams the grounds.

Win was even in attendance as Aaron Ramsdale signed a new long-term contract until 2027, with Arteta walking her in during the signing.
Her owner is a member of the Arsenal staff who she lives with.
And Win is not the only pet who can be seen at the Gunners training ground, with resident cat Bob – adopted after his local owner died – now having some company.
The move is said to have proven popular with players.

Reacting to the revelation, one Arsenal fan joked: “He’s got that DOG in him.”
A second said: “A club pet is such a sweet idea. As years go on, the pet could become iconic like a super fan.”
“Good signing. Something a bit different to what we’ve got up front. Stick him on, send the ball long and they’ll chase the ball all day,” typed a third.
A fourth asked: “Can he play in Saliba’s position?”
Another added: “My manager and dog whisper all in one!👍”
However, on the pitch Arsenal have failed to live up to Win’s name in five of their last seven games.
Draws against Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton were followed by a 4-1 defeat against Manchester City and a 3-0 thrashing against Brighton, which sandwiched victories over Chelsea and Newcastle.
This poor form has seen them give up an eight-point advantage over Man City in the title run-in, with Pep Guardiola’s side now on course to wrap up the league this weekend. More

It was vintage Mourinho stuff as he bids to make it back-to-back wins in Europe.
The legendary boss’ favourite moment of the night appeared to come when Nemanja Matic attempted to run down the clock.
The former Manchester United star went down with cramp inside the Leverkusen box near fellow ex-Red Devils ace Chris Smalling, frustrating the German side even more.
While Leverkusen keeper Lukas Hradecky tried to help Matic stretch, centre-back Edmond Tapsoba had a more direct approach.

The defender attempted to drag the lanky Serbian off the ground but Matic would barely budge.
Tapsoba was then booked for his troubles.
The camera cut to Mourinho banging his hands together and nodding aggressively in approval.
Fans were loving the fact that the 60-year-old was up to his old tricks again.

    One said: “Love it!”
While another added: “He gets the job done and sometimes you have to admire a mastery of the dark arts.”
Roma ended the game with no shots on target and only 28 per cent of possession.
Edoardo Bove, who emerged from the youth academy this season, did enough damage with his goal in the first leg to help Roma squeeze through.
Having won the Europa Conference League a year ago, Mourinho’s side are now set to face Europa serial winners Sevilla.
Roma will likely need victory to get into next season’s Champions League with Mourinho’s side now six points off Serie A’s top four with three games remaining. More

The West Ham skipper has been earmarked for a £100million transfer.
With reports suggesting Arsenal have a summer war chest of £200m, it is a fee they could afford.
And according to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are preparing their opening salvo as they seek to land the England International.
However, talks between the two parties will not begin until June at the earliest.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
Romano has revealed Arsenal will hold off on initiating talks until June at least.
The reason for this is to “respect” West Ham.
The Hammers’ victory over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday means they must now prepare for the Europa Conference League final – the club’s first European final in 47 years.
Mikel Arteta and Co will be hoping this patience will be rewarded with smoother negotiations when the two clubs sit down to discuss a deal.

Arsenal could land two midfielders in the summer, depending on departures.
Granit Xhaka is set to depart the club for a move to Bayer Leverkusen this summer, leaving the North London outfit needing to find a replacement as well.
Moises Caicedo is another star who Arsenal have an interest in.
They previously saw two bids for the Ecuador star rejected by Brighton in January, though Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi has hinted they are resigned to losing Caicedo this summer. More

Callum Wilson the only non-Manchester City player to feature in the best Dream Team XI of Game Week 34

WELL, it was bound to happen at some stage. With Manchester City on the brink of a treble, Game Week 34’s best XI features no fewer than TEN of Pep Guardiola’s troops.
The gaffer who benefited from an extreme approach to the tune of 167 points was Chris Taylor, a fan of the Citizens as it happens.
Let’s take a detailed look at how he topped the pile…
The inception of the Callum Wilson to Man City transfer rumour
Dream Team bosses may have been frustrated by Rodrigo’s (£3.5m) consolation goal for Leeds against City in Game Week 33 but Ederson (£4.8m) and company more than made up for that this past week.
The champions elect kept Everton at bay at Goodison Park on Sunday before making it back-to-back clean sheets with an emphatic performance against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
Ruben Dias (£6.8m), Kyle Walker (£4.3m) and Manuel Akanji (£4.7m) all featured in both games and registered consecutive 7+ ratings too.
The former incurred minus one point for a booking against the Spanish giants by that was more than offset by the latter’s headed goal in midweek.
Chris’ goalkeeper and three defenders combined for 68 points!
Bernardo cashed in on a favourable fixture in midweek…
The main reason Chris eclipsed the many, many other gaffers who adopted a City-centric approach was his specific midfield selections.
    Most read in Dream Team
Both Riyad Mahrez (£6.4m) and Jack Grealish (£5.2m) have provided plentiful points in recent months but between them they mustered just seven points this past week, 33 fewer than the combined returns of Bernardo Silva (£3.2m) and Ilkay Gundogan’s (£3.9m).
The experienced German ran the show against the Toffees, finishing with two goals and an assist for a 20-point return while the Portugal international cashed in with two goals during that dominant first half at the Etihad in midweek.
With 126 points to his name, Gundogan is the 15th-best asset in his position overall but just the sixth-best midfielder in City’s squad, such is scale of his side’s dominance.
Erling Haaland’s (£10.2m) presence in the Team of the Week goes without saying though Thibaut Courtois’ damage-limiting saves forced the Norwegian poacher to settle for 11 points in Game Week 34.
Not a Man City player!Credit: GETTY
Julian Alvarez (£4.6m) applied the cherry on top of City’s Champions League semi-final triumph with his 15th goal in all competitions this season – not bad for an understudy.
Despite relative limited minutes, the World Cup winner is the ninth-best forward in Dream Team at the time of writing.
Last but by no means least, the only man to reside outside Manchetser, Callum Wilson (£5m)!
Newcastle’s No9 bagged a brace at Elland Road on Saturday thanks to two penalties before he cashed in late against Brighton on Thursday evening with a goal and an assist in the final two minutes of normal time.
    Read More on The Sun
The 31-year-old banked 27 points when all was said and done to finish the Game Week as the top performer among all assets.
Well played, Chris, good luck to you and all other gaffers ahead of Game Week 35! More
