And to celebrate, Klich mimicked Rooney’s iconic punching celebration when he netted against Tottenham in 2015.
The 32-year-old, who joined the MLS club in January, tapped home a rebound and ran off to the corner flag like his boss once did.
Klich stood tall and began to punch the air like a boxer before falling back, just like Rooney eight years ago.
The Manchester United legend initially showed off the celebration after he hit the headlines when The Sun exclusively revealed he had been knocked out in his kitchen by former Manchester United team-mate Phil Bardsley.

Rooney has since opened up on the iconic celebration, saying: “After I went down, the video stops but I wasn’t knocked out. We got up and carried on.
“I remember when we finished and the two of us sat there. My nose had gone and Bardo had blooding pouring out of his mouth
“He was brought up in Manchester the same way I have in Liverpool. We both love boxing.
“I remember when it was coming out, I remember going in to see [Louis] van Gaal. He was the manager at the time.

“I said, ‘listen, this story is coming out about me and Phil Bardsley boxing in the house’ and he found it hilarious.
“Growing up, I remember my dad used to give us the gloves in the house. It is something I have always loved doing.
“The night with Bardo, we got home and we put the gloves on. It is something that we do quite regularly, but that one got out.”
Rooney is into his second season managing DC United, who currently sit sixth in the Eastern Conference in the United States.
His squad contains ex-Aston Villa, Liverpool and Crystal Palace star Christian Benteke, who also netted in the weekend’s win.
On loan from Nottingham Forest ace Lewis O’Brien and ex-United and West Ham wonderkid Ravel Morrison are also on the books of the club. More

Inside iconic former Premier League ground which saw infamous Man Utd blunder but is now a housing estate

AN ICONIC former Premier League ground has been converted into a housing estate – and Manchester United will be delighted to see it gone. The Red Devils endured a tricky time at this old stadium on the south coast.

That included the infamous ‘grey shirts saga’ in April 1996 where Sir Alex Ferguson’s side found themselves 3-0 down at half-time and changed out of their dull jerseys with boss claiming they couldn’t see each other.
Incredibly, just six months later, they were stuffed 6-3 at the same place which led many United supporters to be convinced the ground was jinxed for them.
But just five years after that double whammy, United knew they would never need to go back to the stadium – because the Premier League club moved to a £32million, 32,000-seater new home.
The club in question is, of course, Southampton and their former ground The Dell.

First opened in 1898, it became the first stadium with permanent floodlights in 1950 and was famous for its ‘wedge’ triangular Milton Road Stand.
Club icon Matt Le Tissier scored Saints’ final goal at the ground, fittingly a fine volley to beat Arsenal 3-2 – before fans took home seats and sections of the advertising hoardings.
These days, though, The Dell is a residential development – with the road given the same name.
Brilliantly, the various blocks of the property are named after Southampton legends including Le Tiss, Bobby Stokes, Ted Bates, Danny Wallace and Mick Channon.

Chelsea suffer huge blow for next season with Benoit Badiashile facing weeks of new campaign out injured

CHELSEA have taken a huge blow to their back line with Benoit Badiashile expected to be out of action until early NEXT season. The 22-year-old missed out on Chelsea’s trip to Manchester City on Sunday after picking up a groin injury in training.
Benoit Badiashile signed for Chelsea in January to shore up their back line
The French defender may even need surgery that could rule him out for up to four months.
It now looks as if the problem is worse than initially thought and the centre half is seeing experts in the next 24 hours to determine the full diagnosis.
If Badiashile does need to go under the knife it will mean he misses Chelsea’s summer tour to the US and the chance to get to know incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The former Spurs manager is due to take over next month after Lampard leaves his role after Sunday’s home game against Newcastle.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
He will have the pre-season to get his new side into shape after a disappointing campaign this year.
The blow to Badiashile is particularly disappointing as he only signed in January from Monaco and has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise terrible season for Chelsea.
He has made 11 appearances for the club since the move and is considered by a lot of fans as a player for the future as they rebuild under new owner Todd Boehly.
Badiashile won’t be lonely in the medical room at Chelsea’s training ground as he joins Mason Mount, Reece James, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell on the club’s ever-growing injury list.

Chelsea have options at centre back for next season with Badiashile’s injury possibly opening the door for Levi Colwill to come into the side.
Colwill has impressed on loan at Brighton and has reportedly already attracted interest from elsewhere after standing out in the Seagulls’ impressive season. More

Man Utd fans beg ‘take the money and run’ as forgotten man is lined up for £30m transfer exit to Premier League club

NOTTINGHAM FOREST are interested in signing Manchester United star Dean Henderson on a permanent deal, according to reports. The goalkeeper joined Forest last summer in a loan deal until the end of the season.

And now the club want to tie him down for the future after securing their Premier League spot for next season with a 1-0 win over Arsenal.
According to Manchester Evening News, Forest are prepared to spend £30million on the shot-stopper.
And it is believed Henderson would be open to the move as he would have a regular spot in the team ahead of Euro 2024.
He has even remained at Forest and watched the Arsenal win despite not playing a game since January after suffering a thigh strain.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
Henderson, 26, underwent surgery on the injury this month but is still expected to be out for four months.
But that has not deterred Forest who have paid his £110,000-a-week salary in full this year.
Henderson had previously hit out at how he was treated by ex-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer upon joining Forest after being forced to play second fiddle to David de Gea.
Erik ten Hag spoke to the stopper in January over a potential return to Old Trafford from Forest after Martin Dubravka’s loan at United ended and he headed back to Newcastle.

However, Henderson informed him that he had no desire to play back-up to De Gea after being restricted to just three appearances last term.
He could decide to move this summer and many United fans believe the club should accept an offer of £30million.
One wrote: “£30m!! Take it and run!”
Another added: “£30m? Why’s it not agreed already?”
A third said: “Think this is a good move all round, he won’t be number one at United next season whether we sign a keeper or not and the money is solid.”
And another commented: “No brainer! Sell him and use the money to get David Raya!” More

Man Utd fans say Erling Haaland should be BANNED as they point to 2011 Wayne Rooney suspension

MANCHESTER UNITED fans say Erling Haaland should be BANNED after his expletive-filled show of affection for team-mate Jack Grealish.Grealish, 27, was being interviewed by Sky Sports after Manchester City’s title success when Haaland appeared from nowhere to proclaim his love for the winger.

The Norwegian forward shouted “I f****** love you, you know that” into the ear of his fellow City star.
A flustered Dave Jones was quick to apologise to Sky viewers for Haaland’s bad language.
But some United fans have pointed to a precedent set in the case of former star Wayne Rooney that could see Haaland banned.
The former England striker, 37, was suspendedfor two games in April 2011 after swearing down the barrel of the camera following his winner in a 4-2 victory over West Ham.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
The ban is still a sore point for Manchester United fans as it included 2011’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester City.
City’s victory saw them reach the final, where they would go on to secure their first trophy of the Sheikh Mansour era.
Many consider City’s 2011 victory to be a watershed moment in their recent success.
And the implications of Haaland swearing on live TV have not been lost on United fans.

One fan tweeted: “That’s Haaland banned then. Wayne Rooney missed the FA Cup semi-final for swearing on tv. They won’t have the balls to do it though.”
But, Sun Sport understands that the Norwegian will not face any disciplinary action.
FA chiefs do not believe any action is required and there are no plans to investigate.
That’s because swearing during media engagements is not something that automatically triggers an FA investigation.
The FA would only have intervened if they felt the context and tone of the comments justified further inquiry.
Crucially, Rooney’s outburst came during the game itself and was judged to have been “offensive, insulting and abusive language” in that context.
By contrast, Haaland’s actions came long after the final whistle had sounded, and were part of an outpouring of joy and fun, rather than in anger.
United fans would have been hoping that any ban for Haaland might have seen him miss the FA Cup final against United on June 3. More

Laura Woods left shocked as Jamie O’Hara makes bold claim about Tottenham and Harry Kane

And with his future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in doubt, O’Hara believes Spurs will suffer in the absence of their all-time top goalscorer.
When speaking to Laura Woods on the TalkSPORT breakfast show, the 36-year-old admitted that he fears the Lilywhites will face relegation if Kane leaves.
He said: “Well look, obviously we all hope that he sticks around and signs a new contract.
“Because Laura, without Harry Kane, I seriously think we could be fighting relegation next season.”

In astonishment, Woods simply replied: “no” before the pundit continued his rant.
O’Hara added: “We are that bad without him.
“We have been solely dependent on Harry Kane to score us goals and do stuff for us.
“And I think the lack of ambition that we’ve shown and the players that we’ve signed that haven’t been good enough, if he leaves, we are in big, big, trouble.

“And I feel like he’s got to leave, why would he stay? The guy wants to win something, the guy deserves to win trophies. I just don’t see that changing next season.”
Although O’Hara remains hopeful that Kane will choose to stay, he believes that the striker “lacks ambition” if he pens a new deal.
He added: “If he doesn’t leave, he lacks ambition doesn’t he? Let’s be honest.
“If he doesn’t leave and a club does come in for him and Spurs go, ‘you know what, we will probably look at having to sell you.’
“And he doesn’t go to let’s say Manchester United, then I think he lacks ambition.”
Kane is about to enter the final year of his contract, meaning he could become a free agent at the end of next season if Tottenham refuse to sell him this summer
Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly eager to lure the striker to Old Trafford.
However, Spurs chief Daniel Levy is demanding £100m for his star player.
Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also understood to be interested in signing Kane. More

Down at the bottom, Nottingham Forest secured their survival with a 1-0 victory over Arsenal, which crowned Manchester City as champions.
Leeds United’s defeat at West Ham ensured that the relegation battle will go down to the final day.
Everton secured what could be a crucial point with a 1-1 draw at Wolves on Saturday.
And Leicester City know they must win at Newcastle tonight or their hopes may be just about over.

With just six days to go before the climax of the campaign, supporters are anxiously awaiting to discover how their team finishes.
However, fans can now take a look at what is in store for them over the next 12 months after Ladbrokes released their predicted final Premier League table for next season.
They believe that the top two will remain unchanged – with City once again pipping Arsenal to the title.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who look almost certain to miss out on the top four this term, are predicted to make a return to the Champions League with a third-placed finish with Manchester United making up the top four.

Newcastle can secure Champions League football later if they get at least a point against the Foxes, but the bookies do not fancy them to repeat that feat next year.
In fact, despite Chelsea’s dreadful campaign this term, they are predicted to finish ahead of the Magpies in fifth.
That outcome would still be a huge disappointment to the Blues, who are set to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as manager, should they miss out on the top four again.
Despite a new manager set to come in, Tottenham are only expected to finish seventh while Brighton make up the top eight.
Aston Villa are set for a ninth-placed finish while Brentford, even though they will be without suspended Ivan Toney for a large chunk of it, are also predicted to record a second-straight top half finish.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “We’re expecting another record-breaking summer of spending in the top-flight, but City will once again head into a Premier League campaign as odds-on favourites to top the table this time next year.”
He added: “Arsenal were huge outsiders to be anywhere near top spot some 10 months ago, but Mikel Arteta’s men will head into next campaign as joint-second favourites as things stand.” More
