And ahead of the Championship play-off final against Coventry on May 27, the club have released the pictures of their final design for their new 23,000-seater stadium at Power Court.
The new ground will be located just over a mile down the road from their current home at Kenilworth Road – which has drawn criticism ahead of potentially becoming a Prem ground as it sees fans enter the stadium THROUGH neighbours’ gardens.
The new stadium would be situated in the heart of Luton town centre and act as the centrepeice for a regeneration programme on a 20-acre site by Luton Railway Station.
Luton also revealed on their club website that the groundworks for the new stadium should begin by the turn of the year.

This is due to the progress being made with the relocation of the existing primary sub-station in the middle of the site, along with plans to open up the River Lea.
They estimate the construction period to take 24-30 months.
Luton chief executive Gary Sweet, who told Prem stars such as Erling Haaland to embrace Kenilworth in an interview with SunSport, spoke of his excitement on the project.
He said: “We’re delighted the infrastructure element is underway allowing us to develop the detail of the stadium’s design and, in particular, work hard to capture the core characteristics that makes Kenilworth Road so atmospheric, so intimate and so special to us.

“This season, perhaps more than any other, has demonstrated the incredible relationship we all have with The Kenny and that has been the driving force behind our design work…
“We know everyone is desperate for the new stadium to open – as are we!
“It’s clearly a hugely complicated project but the main aim has always been to maintain the architectural quality and to deliver a stadium that replicates an essential, unique character we are all so familiar with but also fit and ready to grace the Premier League stage.”
The designs shared by the club represent the first phase of the build, yielding a 19,500 strong capacity with a third as safe-standing.
This will be followed by a second phase which can see an expansion of 4,000, which can be developed depending on demand.
Michael Moran, Luton’s chief operating officer, added: “The next phase now is an engagement with Luton Council and key stakeholders such as the Environment Agency and Historic England as we take them all through our detailed design process.
“We are also engaging with contractors as we finalise certain construction features but our target for completion is 2026, regardless of the Club’s league position.
“We also mustn’t lose sight of the fact the stadium is to be accompanied by a whole new town quarter for Luton with 1,200 homes, leisure, restaurants, bars, retail and community space.
“It is incredibly exciting to be at the forefront of the Borough’s wider regeneration plans.” More

Man Utd ‘on brink of £40m Kim Min-Jae transfer with Napoli star to fly to England as soon as window opens’

MANCHESTER UNITED are “on the brink” of signing Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae, reports suggest.United are understood to be willing to pay the £40million release clause in his contract which becomes active in July.
Napoli defender Kim Min-jae could be set for Man UtdCredit: Rex
Kim signed for £16m last summer, as a replacement for the Chelsea-bound Kalidou Koulibaly.
And it seems the Italian champions are set to lose another defender to the Premier League.
Nicknamed the “monster”, Kim played a crucial role as Napoli were crowned Serie A champions for the first time since 1990 this season.
He started 34 Serie A matches so far this campaign, with Luciano Spalletti’s side conceding just 26 goals in the league.

And the South Korea international’s form has become one of the Red Devils’ key targets, as Erik Ten Hag looks to strengthen his central defensive options this summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport the defender will fly to Manchester when the transfer window opens to finalise his move to Old Trafford.
Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano added that United have begun talks with Kim to discuss contract, salary and housing arrangements.
Attempts by Napoli to give Kim a new contract and remove the clause have proved unsuccessful.

However, it will see Napoli secure a major profit after a single season.
This comes as United are reportedly ready to sell Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot.
Defenders Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe and Alex Telles have all spent the current campaign on loan at Marseille, Stoke and Sevilla respectively.
Kim can also count former United boss Jose Mourinho among his admirers, with the Roma manager describing him as a “top player” before a match against Napoli this season. More

Steven Gerrard reveals two England team-mates he had ‘hatred’ for but ‘pretended to like’

ENGLAND’S so-called “Golden Generation” never lived up to its name. And Steven Gerrard, one of the biggest names from that era, may have provided the real reason for why the Three Lions failed to deliver.

While speaking in Belfast at a question and answer session in 2017, Gerrard revealed he had a “hatred” for two England team-mates – despite pretending to like them.
Via Belfast Live, he said: “When you’re lining up in the tunnel against Rio [Ferdinand] and Gary Neville you want to do everything in your power to beat them.
“There’s hatred there, that’s exactly how it is. When you meet up for England at that time, you pretend you like them.”
Gerrard then explained how his relationship with the pair had blossomed in retirement.

He added: “But your career finishes, their career finishes and your friendship starts for real.
“I’ve got nothing but respect for Rio as a player, played for a top club all his life, he’s a good fella as well, I’m enjoying the role at BT [Sport TV] with him as well.”

The trio of them collected 280 England caps, with Gerrard ranking as the Three Lions fourth-most capped player.
At the time, many of the biggest stars in the squad competed with one another for major honours, with players at Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal involved in bitter feuds.

Ferdinand believes this to be the reason his generation failed to live up to its billing.
Speaking to SunSport back in 2018, he said: “It [club rivalry] overshadowed things. It killed that England team, that generation.
“One year we would have been fighting Liverpool to win the league, another year it would be Chelsea.
“I considered the Premier League to be my title.
“So I was never going to walk into the England dressing room or the canteen and open up to Frank [Lampard], to Ashley Cole, John, Joe Cole at Chelsea, or Steven and Jamie Carragher at Liverpool.
“I wouldn’t open up because of the fear that they would then take something back to their club and use it against us, to make them better than us.
“I didn’t want to engage with them in that sense.
“I didn’t realise what I was doing was hurting England at the time. It was only after I sat back and thought, ‘F***ing hell, this is what happened!’
“I was so engrossed with winning with Man United that nothing else mattered.”

The camaraderie in the national team has massively improved under Gareth Southgate, and has been reflected in improved performances in major tournaments.
And they will be hoping to go one better at Euro 2024, with Southgate naming his latest squad for the qualifiers yesterday. More

Violence erupted after the two teams played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a Sunday afternoon on January 15.
During the large ruckus, one fan was punched to the side of the head – sending him tumbling onto the tracks.
One man could be seen shouting at a rival while holding a can as station staff tried to keep them apart.
As the pair rowed, another man sucker-punched the alleged victim from the side – sending the platform into chaos.

The man climbed back onto the platform, as the two sides pushed and shoved each other.
As they were pushed back along the platform a can of beer was thrown in the air and another man was pushed to the floor.
Now police have released mobile phone footage of the scuffle in a bid to track down the perpetrators.
Police Sergeant Ben Roberts, of the British Transport Police (BTP), said the attack could have “easily” led to the alleged victim being killed.

He added: “We have absolutely zero tolerance for football related violence on the railway network, and treat incidents like this extremely seriously.
“Had a train been pulling in at the time we could easily have been dealing with a murder investigation – so it’s vital we identify those responsible so we can take action.
“I would urge anyone who recognises those involved to get in touch with us.”
