Mauricio Pochettino SIGNS Chelsea contract ahead of replacing Frank Lampard as manager

MAURICIO POCHETTINO has signed on the dotted line to become the new Chelsea manager.Pochettino inherits a club in desperate need off attention after a disastrous season.

The ex-Tottenham manager has signed a deal for up to three years.
He will not start work officially until July 1 because he is still running down his contract with Paris Saint-Germain who sacked the Argentine last July.
He is also taking charge of the World XI for next month’s Soccer Aid charity football match at Old Trafford.
But Pochettino has been tracking developments with the Chelsea team, watching games and drawing up assessments of what he needs to do to turn the failing squad around.

Caretaker boss Frank Lampard is signing off today after stepping in as caretaker boss – the fourth man to pick the team this season.
But results have been dreadful and the players have failed to respond and Chelsea are condemned to a bottom half finish in the Premier League to mark the end of American financier Todd Boehly’s dramatic first year as chairman.

Around £600million has been invested in a record-breaking transfer spend.
At one point there were 33 senior players listed in the first team squad in the club’s official website.

Confirmation of Pochettino’s arrival as the new head coach is expected within 24 hours.
The Argentine is likely to bring his usual backroom staff with him to Stamford Bridge.
His coaching team comprises of assistant boss Jesus Perez, as well as Toni Jimenez, Miguel D’Agostino and son Sebastiano.
Pochettino managed Chelsea’s London rivals Spurs between 2014 and 2019 – reaching the Champions League final in his final full season in charge.
He subsequently spent 18 months at PSG, winning the Ligue 1 title, Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions during his time in the French capital.
Lampard, meanwhile, will bring his disastrous Stamford Bridge return to a close this afternoon.
The Blues host Newcastle, and could potentially rise to 11th with a win.
Their caretaker boss and all-time leading scorer Lamps has won just one of his ten matches in charge this season – losing eight.
Ahead of his third Chelsea departure, Lampard said: “I will never feel like I am saying goodbye to the fans.
“It will be the end of season and the end of my time back but normally when you leave a club you don’t have a hurrah as a manager. You are in one day, out the next and that’s fine.
“When you take on a managerial career it doesn’t mean you will be at a club you had 13 years at as a player forever.

“More than anything I would love to give them a performance to take away for the summer and feel a bit more positive about.”

Why do Man City fans sing Blue Moon?

FOOTBALL fans cheering and singing in stadiums is a tradition as old as time. Manchester City’s anthem Blue Moon is no different, where club supporters young and old belt out the tune during their games.

Why do Man City fans sing Blue Moon?
Man City’s anthem Blue Moon is synonymous with the club that you can expect to hear it at all their games.
Songs and chants come and go over time, but this one has stuck with the club.
Most songs are quite upbeat in nature to inspire the players and, hopefully, bring home a victory.
However, Man City’s Blue Moon is melancholy in nature, which is quite different from most anthems.
    Read more on Man City
Apparently, the song has nothing to do with the team’s iconic blue uniforms.
Legend has it that the song was first sung by fans leaving a stadium after a poor performance by the team.
This is ironic as Man City went on to win the Premiership title seven times between 2011 and 2022.
The tune was also sung in jest, the fans’ way of remaining joyful when their club was not performing so well.
    Most read in Football
Before Man City became one of the most successful teams in the Premier League, they had been relegated twice in the 80s.
Nevertheless, the singing tune remains a Man City tradition, regardless of how well they are playing.
When did Man City fans first start singing Blue Moon?
Blue Moon was composed by Richard Rodgers and lyricist Lorenz Hart.
It wasn’t uncommon at that time for club fans to adopt a pop song into the football grounds.
It is believed that the song was first sung by City fans during their game against Liverpool at Anfield during the 1989/90 season.
What are the lyrics to Blue Moon?
The song has had many versions by different artists since it was released in the 1930s.
Some who have sung the song include Rod Stewart, Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, The Supremes, and Frank Sinatra.
Here are the lyrics to the Man City anthem.
Blue MoonYou saw me standing aloneWithout a dream in my heartWithout a love of my ownBlue MoonYou knew just what I was there forYou heard me saying a prayer forSomeone I could really care forThen suddenly they’ll appear before meThe only one my arms could ever holdI heard someone whisper “Please adore me”And when I looked my moon had turned to gold.Blue MoonNow I’m no longer aloneI have a dream in my heartI have a love of my own More

ANDY COLE “doesn’t give a f***” that Erling Haaland has broken his Premier League goal record. The 51-year-old’s tally of 34 strikes in the 1993-94 season had only ever been equalled by Alan Shearer the following year – until Haaland came along.

The Manchester City striker has plundered 36 goals in 35 Premier League appearances this term to date, smashing Cole and Shearer’s record in fewer games.
Quizzed by the Mail over how it feels to have his record finally broken after 19 years, Cole said: “I couldn’t give a f***.

“I’m being honest. I am not anal in any way, shape or form about someone breaking goal-scoring records because records are set to be broken.
“Now, some people might be p***ed. But people say I must be disappointed. Why?

Shearer, meanwhile, took the full 42 matches to bag his 34 goals during 1994-95.

Premier League new boys target transfer for Nottingham Forest outcast who’s playing on loan under Wayne Rooney

NOTTINGHAM FOREST outcast Lewis O’Brien is back on the radar of Premier League new boys Sheffield United. The Blades were keen on landing the midfield dynamo in January’s window but were unable to sign players due to a transfer embargo.

O’Brien, 24, currently on loan at Wayne Rooney’s DC United in the MLS, is likely to be surplus to requirements again when he returns to Forest in July.
They would consider a loan or permanent deal — with the only snag being whether to deal with a direct rival.
Blades manager Paul Heckingbottom has a reduced transfer budget despite promotion back to the top flight.
Saudi owner Prince Abdullah is trying to bolster his kitty by getting additional financial backing from allies in the Middle East.

O’Brien signed for Nottingham Forest in a £10million transfer from Huddersfield last summer.
The midfielder made 15 appearances during his first five months at the City Ground before falling out of favour with Steve Cooper.
He joined MLS side DC United on a four-month loan in March and has since registered one goal and one assist in 10 games.
O’Brien was quick to praise Rooney upon his arrival in Washington.

He told DC United’s official website: “It’s massive, if you look back at my career I’ve played against him a few times as well.
“We’ve had a few jokes about it. I know people that he’s managed previously back at Derby and stuff and it’s a perfect opportunity for me.
“He played in a similar position that I play in and I think he’s going to make everyone he coaches a much better footballer.”
Three MLS clubs – not including DC United – have expressed an interest in signing O’Brien in recent months.
New York City, Columbus Crew and Atlanta United were keen on the prospect of signing him earlier this year. More

I valet Man Utd stars’ supercars and my OCD means I don’t miss a thing – I first cleaned Scott McTominay’s when I was 13

ROCKING up to Scott McTominay’s house and have him make dinner for you sounds like the dream for any teenage Manchester United fan.But for Zack Ditchett, it was his first day at work.

The Mancunian kid has now set up his own business cleaning, valeting, polishing and detailing cars – and McTominay is one of Dirt2Clean’s most-famous and long-standing clients.
But on his first outing to McTominay’s house as a fresh-faced 13-year-old coming out of the first Covid lockdown, it was Zack who got the A-list treatment from the Premier League footballer.
He told SunSport: “You can imagine how surreal it felt it to be doing his car at 13. He trusted me.
“My mum took me, he came out and met me and made me some pasta. I had no idea footballers were so nice.

“Scott is one of the best lads, a proper genuine guy.
“I go to his house every week or two, we’ll have a game of golf out the back.
“I’m comfortable with him, I almost don’t see him as a client. We’ve got a friendship.
“He gives me advice, we have a laugh. I do a lot of work for Scott, he likes his cars! At the minute he’s got a Mercedes GLE 63S, a brand-new Range Rover and an Audi RS6.

“He will call me and let me know what needs doing. He messages me saying, ‘You hero. You’re the man.’ He loves the job I do.
“At the start, I felt quite a lot of pressure but now I know I do a good job.”
Zack grew up in West Manchester but was involved in a shocking car accident aged just ten when his seatbelt snapped out in a collision and he flew head-first into the windscreen.
He needed counselling to help recover from the trauma and was “scared” to get back in cars, instead choosing to walk whenever possible.
It is almost ironic, then, that he now spends his life in and around cars, making them look absolutely perfect.
And absolutely perfect is a guarantee for any Dirt2Clean client – for Zack has OCD and it was that need for everything to be spotless that led him into his business venture.
He explained: “I’ve got obsessive compulsive disorder so I’ve always loved cleaning since I was a kid. Everything’s got to be spot on.
“The house would never be dirty because since I was six I was cleaning all day, I would clean my room, make my bed, hoovering.
“Every time I got out of the car, I would get a little hoover and hoover it. Mum got me a car-cleaning kit one Christmas. That’s where it all stemmed from.

“I’ve made my OCD into a positive. It is helping me clean cars, I love what I do. I have a passion and I have OCD.
“I see stuff the human eye doesn’t see. I go into every little detail to ensure the car is 100 per cent clean.
“School was a brick wall for me, I’m not academically clever, I’ve always been hands on.”
Zack taught himself how to valet and detail from YouTube videos and started washing family and neighbours’ cars on his driveway.
He then secured a space at a local pub aged 13 – as well as beginning to visit clients’ homes – before securing a unit for himself this month, weeks before turning 17.
Business is booming, helped by a local artist putting him in touch with some famous clients.
He now looks after the likes of “really nice” Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Tommy Fury, Molly-Mae Hague and a host of other Manchester United players with McTominay providing a glowing reference.
The teenager, who used to have a season ticket at Old Trafford, added: “The Tommy one was mad really because he DM’d me on Instagram.
“Molly-Mae and him are proper down to earth, she helped me out with some shoutouts. They see a young local Manchester lad trying to do his best and they’re helping push me to succeed.
“At the start it was crazy, I have never interacted with celebrities. Once you get one, it’s like a snowball effect.

“When I go there, they are the most genuine people ever, they are normal, they don’t think they are bigger than anyone else.
“I go to United games and then I’m at their houses having a laugh with them, they’re like friends.
“It feels normal now as I see them often but when I tell people who my clients are they’re like, ‘Wow.’
“I had Dan James while he was at United, he was buzzing with the job.
“I’ve got a gallery of about 30 signed shirts and two pairs of Scott’s boots, including a pair he scored in. They’ve still got Old Trafford turf on bottom.
“They are memorable and mean a lot. It shows how far I’ve come from starting on my driveway.”
Zack understandably takes pride in his work – especially his football pitch-style striped carpet finish – and certainly feels good when he sees pictures of his customers driving into the Carrington training ground in their sparkling motors.

He loves the Bentley Bentayga and new Range Rover Vogues but insists “you can’t beat a Lamborghini Urus” because it’s a supercar and a 4×4 rolled into one machine.
Dirt2Clean’s services range from a £35 standard valet all the way up to the full works including paint enhancement and correction, which costs £800 and takes three days.
But Zack insists he can get a 2015 plate looking like a brand-new motor fresh from the factory.
And now he has secured a permanent base for his five-man company, he is desperate to expand his repertoire to include wrapping, for which he is already qualified.
The teenager added: “I aspire to be like Yiannimize, he started off valeting and detailing like I did and then wrapping. Look where he is now. He’s smashed it. Scott said I can wrap one of his.
