The Blues, who suffered a miserable season as they finished 12th in the table with their worst ever points tally despite spending almost £1billion on transfers, decided to pour some salt on Leeds’ wounds.
The West Londoners remembered the relegated side trolling them in August when they lost 3-0 at Elland Road.
Chelsea took to social media last summer claiming they started to “assert” themselves before goals by Brenden Aaronson, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison led to a humiliating defeat.
Leeds later tweeted: “Life comes at you fast!”

Chelsea didn’t forget that as they tried to have the last laugh after the final round of fixtures that saw Sam Allardyce’s side dropping to the Championship.
The Blues responded: “It certainly does.”
But that joke didn’t go the way they hoped it would as opposing fans weren’t impressed with a big club like Chelsea taking a swipe at a relegated side.
Several fans took to social media claiming Chelsea “have found their level” after a disastrous campaign.

And the midfielder has joked about the one thing he got wrong with Ron.
The former Brentford, Inter Milan and Tottenham creator, 31, told how Old Trafford faced a battle of the deadball experts early in the season.
Apart from Eriksen and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo, that included Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.
And the set-piece set-to really kicked off when the ex-Ajax ace took a free-kick ahead of Portugal striker Ronaldo.

Eriksen told United’s official website: “Even now at the club we have multiple takers who, if he’s had a good day, he’s going to have it.
“I did take one [instead of Ronaldo], I think, but he wasn’t too happy with that!
“But then with the three we have now, it’s where we are on the pitch, how people are feeling, so it’s like ‘you had the last one, I’ll have the next one’.”
But Eriksen also revealed a far smoother relationship with mid-pitch partners Fernandes and Casemiro.

The midfielder, 24, sat out of today’s 1-1 home draw with Newcastle after failing to recover from injury.
But he was on hand to join in the squad’s lap of appreciation to thank the fans for the support across a disappointing season, which saw the Blues finish 12th.
Mount clapped the supporters then grabbed the Chelsea badge in a classy gesture while a number of players and manager Frank Lampard put a comforting arm around his shoulder.
Chilwell was on hand to offer some words of encouragement and as his pal appeared to be welling up.

And a user commented: “Oh this is 100 per cent a goodbye, shame he didn’t play.”

Another fan wrote: “It’s over sigh.”
And a final supporter replied: “This makes me so sad.”
Mount will go into the final year of his Blues contract this summer.
But after rejecting all offers of an extension, he looks on course to depart West London.
Manchester United is the most likely destination.
The Red Devils have so far been reluctant to meet Chelsea’s £55million valuation.

Midfield duo Mac Allister, 24, and Caicedo, 21, have both played a key role in that success and have a host of top clubs chasing their services.
And their manager is resigned to losing the pair of them once the transfer window re-opens.
Speaking after the Villa loss, De Zerbi said: “I think it can be the last game of Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea have also been reported as interested in the midfielder, but may struggle to attract him without European football while Man City have allegedly joined the chase to sign him.
Mac Allister has scored 10 goals and assisted a further two in the league this season and will likely command a huge fee if he does leave Brighton, with his contract not due to expire until 2025.
Ecuadorian Caicedo helped the Seagulls secure Europa League football on Wednesday evening after a 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
He had been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the January transfer window, but Brighton clung on to their man.
He then penned a new deal to keep him on the South Coast until 2027. But he is still expected to leave Brighton at the end of the season as both Chelsea and Arsenal circle for his signature.

Everton’s 1-0 win against Bournemouth leaves Leicester facing Championship football next season.
And it all proved too much to handle for some supporters in the King Power Stadium, with images showing them being forced apart from each other.
Brendan Rodgers was sacked in April and replaced by Dean Smith, who failed to keep the 2016 league champions up.
Smith told Sky Sports: “That was our best performance today. We deserved a win. We put some pressure on but it wasn’t to be.

“I’m disappointed for the owner here and the staff and the players. It wasn’t to be.

That is due to Abdoulaye Doucoure’s stunning goal at Goodison Park that saved Everton from the Championship.
His goal against Bournemouth was enough to give his side the crucial three points.
Lineker was in a conflicted position, watching on and preparing for the final Match of the Day of the season.
The former England striker played for both relegation battlers Everton and hometown club Leicester during his career.

And despite being “gutted” about the team he made 194 league appearances for being relegated, he did point out some positives.
Lineker admitted that he would have accepted this relegation eight years ago if it meant that Leicester would win the Premier League and FA Cup during the period, which they did.
He tweeted: “A word on @lcfc: If 8 years ago, you’d have given me the option of winning the Premier League and the FA Cup and then get relegated, I’d have snapped your hand off.

Leeds trailed inside two minutes courtesy of Harry Kane, and the Manchester United transfer target added another as other strikes from Pedro Porro and Lucas Moura sealed a 4-1 win for Spurs.
It was Everton who retained their Premier League status on a dramatic final day of the season.
But it is heartbreak for both Leicester, who beat West Ham 2-1, and Leeds who were relegated.
And Leeds supporters turned on both their team and the club’s owners after their three-year Premier League stay came to a miserable end.

Chants of “sack the board” echoed around the ground during the second half.
A pitch invader was then dragged away by around six stewards with around 15 minutes remaining, which led to the home section singing to their players: “He’s got more fight than you.”
Then it was former manager Marcelo Bielsa, the huge fan favourite who guided Leeds back to the top-flight in 2020 before he was brutally sacked last season, whose name was sung constantly during the closing stages.
On-loan Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, 26, was also subjected to chants of “you fat b*****d” in the final minutes too as the atmosphere turned toxic.

Following the final whistle, forward Georginio Rutter then threw his shirt into the crowd as he and other team-mates attempted to applaud the crowd.

Man Utd fans say ‘the end is near’ as De Gea SAVES a penalty from Mitrovic in potential last game

MANCHESTER UNITED fans were left in complete disbelief after David de Gea finally saved a penalty. The Spanish stopper had supporters fearing “the end is near” after he denied Aleksandar Mitrovic from the spot at Old Trafford against Fulham.

United were already trailing Fulham after Kenny Tete’s near-post header from Willian’s corner.
However, just moments later the 32-year-old prevented the Red Devils from falling two behind after Casemiro was punished for a foul in the box.
Mitrovic stepped up but De Gea guessed the correct way and produced a brilliant stop as the Stretford End roared its approval.
It proved to be a vital contribution from De Gea, who afterwards picked up the Golden Glove an award for keeping the most clean sheets this season (16), as United went on to win 2-1.

And that, incredibly, was his first penalty save at Old Trafford since he denied Leighton Baines in October 2014.
De Gea has faced heavy criticism for his penalty saving record over recent times – with supporters stunned last month that they beat Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final via a shootout despite him failing to stop a single one.
And he was heavily mocked after the 2021 Europa League final defeat to Villarreal where he conceded 11 penalties before missing United’s crucial one himself.
However, he did save two in the Premier League last season, firstly from West Ham’s Mark Noble in September 2021 before denying Ismaila Sarr at Watford two months later.

But despite that, the United faithful still appeared to be in shock to witness him produce a save – especially at the Theatre of Dreams.
One tweeted: “Did I just see De Gea save a penalty????”
Another wrote: “De Gea Penalty save? We’re winning the league next season.”
Meanwhile, De Gea has so far failed to sign a new deal at United, which would see his present £375,000-a-week basic salary drop by nearly 50 per cent.
He is out of contract next summer and wants to stay at Old Trafford but so far talks over fresh terms have stalled.
United boss Erik ten Hag has given his public backing to the Spaniard, although it is understood concerns remain from the player’s camp that he may not be No.1 next season.
And some even think that this penalty save was the perfect way for him to sign off at the club before a summer exit.
One fan wrote: “DE GEA OMFG WHAT A FAREWELL PENALTY SAVE.”
As another added: “Farewell penalty save for De Gea.”
