Richarlison takes weeks to hit back at Premier League rivals after they mocked him for getting more bookings than goals

RICHARLISON has finally hit back at two Premier League stars who have mocked him for his celebrations.West Ham forward Michail Antonio, 33, and Newcastle striker Callum Wilson, 31, were in stitches as they discussed the Brazilian’s unfortunate goal celebrations this season.

The Tottenham star finally bagged his first Premier League goal for the club on April 30 when he dramatically headed home a stoppage time equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield.
Richarlison, 25, went wild upon hitting the back of the net, taking his shirt off and shushing the home fans before performing his “pigeon” celebration alongside team-mate Son Heung-min.
Unfortunately for the Brazilian, Lucas Moura’s ill-judged pass played in Diogo Jota just moments later – with the Portuguese forward winning it for the Reds.
Discussing Richarlison on The Footballers’ Football Podcast, Antonio said: “He’s scored four goals this season, three of the times he’s been offside. He has taken his top off four times this season.”

Through laughter, England international Wilson added: “He’s got four yellows he’s almost on a suspension.”
Now after the footage went viral, the Samba ace, who scored three times for his country at the World Cup, has not hit back by commenting on the TikTok video – almost a month later.
Richarlison wrote: “How many goals do both have [at] the World Cup?”
Richarlison had only been booked three times at that point of the season, and only once for celebrating a disallowed goal.

That came back in September against Fulham, when he removed his shirt after thinking he’d put his side 3-1 up, only for Ryan Sessegnon to be deemed offside in the build-up.
He subsequently scored twice against Marseille in the Champions League, but didn’t remove his shirt on either occasion.
Aside from after his celebrations against Fulham and Liverpool, Richarlison’s other yellow card came for dissent during August’s 1-1 draw at Antonio’s West Ham.
He also had a goal disallowed against Nottingham Forest in March, but did not remove his shirt on that occasion. More

Inside former stadium of Premier League high-flyers that’s surrounded by forest and now home to club in the NINTH tier

JUST 12 years ago Brighton were playing in a stadium previously used for athletics and even a ZOO… now they’re on their way to Europe. It’s been a whirlwind decade for the Seagulls who not only broke into the Premier League for the first time in their history in 2017, but have now reached the Europa League after a stellar 2022-23 season.

It’s hard to believe that as recently as 2011, the south coast giants were in League One playing in front of just 1,350 fans.
After all, next season they’ll join European powerhouses like Liverpool, Ajax and Juventus in the second tier of continental football.
And their stadium for that? Well, the Amex is a modern, 30,666-seater ground. So it’s up to the task.
The same, of course, can’t be said of the Withdean Stadium.
    READ MORE SPORT STORIES
But let’s start from the beginning…
Up until 1997, Brighton had been playing at the Goldstone Ground – before the club sold it for development.
The Seagulls kickstarted plans for their new stadium but would need a temporary home.
For two seasons, the club played 70 MILES away in Gillingham, sharing their Priestfield Stadium – with their only other option to ground-share with Sussex County Cricket Club just up the road in Hove.

But Brighton did find a more local temporary solution in 1999, moving to the Withdean Stadium – rich in local history.
The site was first opened as a lawn tennis club in 1936 and even hosted Great Britain’s Davis Cup clash with New Zealand in 1939.
Later, the area was used by Brighton Zoo before playing home to a miniature railway.
In 1955, it become the site of Brighton Sports Arena, primarily an athletics arena, despite hosting other sporting and non-sporting events.
Over the decades, the ground was given plenty of TLC, including new floodlights, squash courts and a resurfaced running track in 1997 – just two years before the Seagulls’ arrival.
By 1999, the stadium had just ONE permanent stand, with the remaining three made up from repurposed scaffolding – some of which had been used at The Open Championship golf tournament.
Back on the pitch, Brighton were yo-yo-ing between the second and third tier of English football and desperate to take that next step.
But, despite knowing a new state-of-the-art stadium was on the horizon, their home facilities were woefully lacking.
In fact, in 2004, The Observer ranked the Withdean Stadium, enveloped by dense forest, as the fourth WORST in the UK.
Local residents lashed out at the move, with Brighton banned from playing amplified music and parking restrictions put in place within a one-mile radius.
That forced Brighton to include free bus or rail travel in every match-day ticket for fans.
By 2004, the club were £9.5million in debt, largely thanks to the public enquiry launched to obtain planning permission from the Amex.

However, their ground-sharing bill at Priestfield and low ticket income thanks to their tiny 1,350-seater temporary home certainly didn’t help.
The Seagulls’ owners paid off a huge £7m chunk, but were forced to raise money for the final £2.5m.
Brighton players posed for nude Christmas cards and the club even released a single, Tom Hark, which reached No17 in the UK charts.
In a further desperate attempt to rake in some much needed moolah, the club’s match at home to Sheffield United in October 2004 played host to a Fatboy Slim album launch party thanks to their shirt sponsor, Skint Records.
The afternoon went down in history as “Palookaville” – with Brighton stars even bearing those words on their kit for the day.
In November 2005, there was even enough cash to add some extra temporary seating to the East and West Ends of the ground.
Come 2011, their final season at the ground, there were 8,416 fans packed into the Withdean Stadium for a 3-2 loss at the hands of Huddersfield.
Brighton were promoted from League One as champions despite the result on the back of a stellar season from Glenn Murray.
The Seagulls moved on to the Amex and have since soared into the Premier League – making their debut in the top-flight in 2017-18 – and have now even reached Europe.
Brighton finished sixth in 2022-23 after pushing for Champions League football right up until the final few weeks.
But it means the Amex will be in for some tremendous Thursday night action against some of Europe’s top sides in the next year.
As for the Withdean Stadium, it’s still in use… with football still at the heart of it.
The stadium is owned by the local council, but operated by nationwide gym chain Freedom Leisure.
    Read More on The Sun
While it goes back to its roots in featuring tennis and squash courts, there is also a gym and rock-climbing wall.
The ground is also currently being used by AFC Old Vardeanians, who finished 17th in the 20-team Southern Combination Premier League – the ninth tier of English football. More

The 48-year-old declined and instead chose to take some time away from football after his Blues dismissal.
Leicester are now willing to go back in for him and throw big money at Potter after relegation in the dream that he will say “yes” to them.
The Foxes need to rebuild with many stars out of contract and several key players like James Maddison and Harvey Barnes expected to be sold.
Dean Smith only took over at the King Power in April after the sacking of Brendan Rodgers.

He signed a short-term deal with the club until the end of the campaign and he could see his contract not be renewed.
Potter is yet to commit to Leicester and remains in talks with French side Nice, who would like to hire him for next season.
The experienced coach has worked abroad in Sweden and would like a crack at European football again if he is chosen by wealthy Nice.
Potter is in no rush to commit after picking up a huge pay off from Chelsea following his brief spell.

How much Sam Allardyce cost Leeds revealed with boss earning £20,000 per DAY despite getting club relegated

Sam Allardyce earned a staggering sum from his 25 days at Leeds despite not winning a gameCredit: Reuters

His 25-day stint means he now holds the record for shortest time in charge of a Premier League club.
Allardyce would have received a whopping £3million if he had kept Leeds in the top-flight.
But Sunday’s 4-1 home loss against Tottenham sent the Whites down by five points – while rivals Everton, who stayed up, and Leicester, both won.
However, despite failing to stop the slide to the Championship, the 68-year-old has still walked away with a hefty sum for the Yorkshire outfit despite not winning a single game.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
Allardyce incredibly earned a tidy half a million quid for his efforts.
That equates to £20,000 a day, £833.33 per hour and £13.88 for each minute he was in the job.
Allardyce had previously performed miracles in ensuring Crystal Palace and Sunderland avoided the drop.
And Leeds were praying he could do the same again – as their third manager this season.

The Whites axed Jesse Marsch in late February and interim chief Javi Gracia in early May.
But Leeds picked up just one point from Allardyce’s four matches.
After opening with a 2-1 loss at champions-to-be Manchester City on May 6, the Whites rescued a creditable 2-2 home draw with Newcastle.
But they then slumped 3-1 at West Ham and by an even bigger margin at Spurs – when they needed to pick up three points and hope for help from elsewhere. More

David Moyes breaks silence on Celtic speculation after becoming favourite to replace Ange Postecoglou

BOOKIES favourite David Moyes says he’s ignoring speculation linking him with the Celtic job – because he has a European final to prepare for.Moyes has been backed down from 16/1 to be front-runner for the Parkhead post if Ange Postecoglou moves to Spurs.

But Moyes’ West Ham side face Serie A Fiorentina in their first European Final in 47 years next week – and he insists he’s blanking out everything else as his side prepare for that Prague crunch.
Quizzed about the Celts links, he replied: “I’ve never even considered it.
“I’m West Ham manager and I’m really enjoying my period here.
“I’m hopefully trying to continue growing a really good football club so I’ve not given it any consideration.

“Through my years I’ve been linked with lots of jobs at different times but I have to say I’m really happy at the moment and I’m settled where I am.
“The club have been so good to me and we’re enjoying the journey we’re on.”
Despite having the best win percentage of any Hammers boss, there’s a section of the support Moyes has never won over and there has been speculation he could call time on his three-and-a-half year spell at the club after next week’s final.
Asked about the possibility of leaving West Ham after the final, he replied: “I’m not thinking any further ahead than the game.

“That’s the only focus I have at the moment – trying to win the game and performing as well as we can.
“We still have a few days until the game so we’re just preparing and getting the players ready.”
The 60-year-old, who started his playing career at Celtic, featured in our eight-man list of early runners and riders for the potential vacancy in Glasgow’s east end.
SunSport revealed earlier this week that Postecoglou is set to be named Spurs boss next week.
And we understand Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is set to meet him on Monday for formal talks, once the Scottish Cup Final is over and done with.
Like Moyes, Postecoglou has remained focused on the final his team has coming up, with Celtic on the cusp of a Treble.
He said yesterday: “I understand the question. It’s of interest to people and that’s understandable, but it’s not in my world.
“It’s not the first time it has happened this year, and I’ve been pretty consistent in making people understand what I’m about and what I’m like.
“I’ve got too big a game on Saturday for this club to be contemplating or addressing any matter other than us being ready for the final.

And having fallen out of favour at Kenilworth Road, he is set to leave Luton on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this month.
First team stars Sonny Bradley and Harry Isted have also been let go.
Lansbury’s departure from Luton comes 11 years after his Arsenal exit.
The midfielder joined the Gunners’ academy at the age of nine in 1999 and was highly regarded throughout his youth career.

He signed his first professional contract in 2008 and made his Premier League debut two years later against Fulham.
Lansbury scored one goal during his time with Arsenal – in a 4-1 win over bitter rivals Tottenham – but he struggled to establish himself in the first team.
That is despite Wenger once claiming that he would be a “big player” for the future.
While Lansbury was on loan at Watford in January 2010, the Frenchman said: “He will be a big player for me. He is at the moment having a very interesting experience [at Watford] that we judge to be very successful.

He scored 33 goals in 150 appearances during his five-year stint with the Tricky Trees before signing for Aston Villa in 2017.

For the moment, Postecoglou insists he is fully focused on this weekend’s Scottish Cup Final against Inverness, with he and his Hoops side on the brink of a Treble.
But SunSport understands Daniel Levy and co plan to meet the 57-year-old after the weekend, 48 hours after the final is out of the way.
Then, formal discussions regarding him taking over the hot seat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will commence.
Postecoglou said his representatives haven’t spoken to him this week about the links with Spurs, telling reporters: “They know better than to ask me anything this week, let me tell you.

“They know me very well. They wouldn’t dare ask me about anything.”
Spurs are preparing to welcome incoming chief football officer Scott Munn who has ties to Postecoglou via the City Football Group (who own one of the coach’s former clubs, Yokohama Marinos) and through nationality (both men are Aussies).
Levy is also believed to be a fan of Postecoglou’s playing style.
So too however, according to reports in France, is Olympique Marseille president Pablo Longoria – with the Ligue 1 outfit ready to hijack Spurs’ bid to bring Postecoglou to the Premier League.

But all of the chatter ahead of Saturday’s final at Hampden has focused on a move to north London.
Postecoglou admits he understands the persistent questions over his future but shut down any notion of him taking his eye off the ball when it comes to preparing his team for Saturday.
He said: “I understand the question. It’s of interest to people and that’s understandable, but it’s not in my world.
“It’s not the first time it has happened this year, and I’ve been pretty consistent in making people understand what I’m about and what I’m like.
