We live next to a Premier League stadium but we hate it – we’re trapped in our homes, traffic is a nightmare & it’s loud

RESIDENTS living next to a former Premier League ground say they hate it – with road closures, traffic and noise among the nightmare problems.Thousands of home and away fans flocked to the King Power Stadium to see Leicester City play every week – before the Foxes’s relegation from the Prem last month.

Now locals in the area around the ground have revealed that they are “trapped in our homes” on match days.
Mum-of-three Shannen Kamara, 26, said: “It’s horrible when the football’s on.
“This road is just blocked with hundreds of people when they’re leaving and they shout and make a lot of noise.
“Sometimes, if it’s a late match, it’s after the kids have gone to bed and it disturbs them.

“One time someone was going along the street kicking bins over and the police were nearby but didn’t do anything.
“I’ve been here three years and I really want to move to somewhere else.”
One woman said: “The worst thing is all the traffic restrictions. It’s a real bugbear of mine.
“It’s like being trapped in your home, unable to leave.”

Another resident said: “It’s s***. When a match is on you can’t park at all – it’s just the worst street in Leicester.”
George Lopes, 35, said: “The people coming through on foot are okay most of the time but after some games there’s a bit of fighting and swearing.”
Other residents looked on the bright side – emphasising the neighbourhood’s bus stops, hospital and parks.
It comes after residents living near another Premier League ground said that parking is a nightmare and that fans keep damaging their cars – but cops won’t help.
Homeowners living inside a major football ground said that they can watch games from their attics – but life in the stadium has a downside.
And locals said that living next to an iconic Midlands ground is a nightmare – with disrespectful fans leaving rubbish everywhere and blocking drives. More

Man Utd must make decision to make decision on Mason Greenwood and they risk ‘chaos’ if they get it wrong, expert says

MANCHESTER United has been urged to make a decision on Mason Greenwood – and they could risk ‘chaos’ if they get it wrong. The 21-year-old striker’s alleged rape and assault charges were dropped in February.

With United’s season over after their 2-1 loss to Man City in the FA Cup final, the Red Devils’ attention now turns to next season.
The Old Trafford outfit will have big decisions to make on the future of players such as Harry Maguire and David de Gea this summer.
“The huge one?” Martin Samuel wrote in his column at the Times. “Well, that shapes the club United are to be. It concerns morals and ethics, but also future strategy and direction.
“It is the call they must make on Mason Greenwood.  Get this wrong — in either direction — and chaos ensues.
    Read more on Sport
“There is a suspicion that United’s present owners want to stall and leave the Greenwood decision to their successors, or even that they secretly hope interest from a club such as Juventus will make him another club’s problem.”
Samuel also claimed that if United were to consult the club’s stakeholders, or even their sponsors and commercial partners, then they would open a ‘Pandora’s box’.
The columnist said it would ‘set a precedent’ if the club’s policy was ‘dictated by friends of the marketing department’.
Greenwood has not played in 16 months after the Red Devils launched their own investigation earlier this year.

He was arrested in January 2022 after a woman alleged physical and sexual abuse on social media.
But the CPS withdrew the case after his alleged victim and a dozen more witnesses refused to co-operate.
SunSport exclusively revealed in April that Greenwood has told pals he will never play for United again.
It also emerged that Juventus are ready to offer Greenwood a fresh start in Italy alongside former teammate Paul Pogba.
Greenwood, who hit 36 goals in 130 games for United, still has two years left on his £75,000-a-week contract. More

Damning stats show Man Utd should NOT sign Mason Mount as Chelsea ace compared to current crop amid £50m transfer saga

MANCHESTER UNITED appear determined to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount in the summer transfer window. Mount’s deal at Stamford Bridge runs out next year and talks with the Blues regarding a contract extension have fallen through.

Manchester United stars Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen are outperforming Mount
Reports suggested the versatile midfielder has agreed personal terms with United, who are now willing to splash £50million to price him away from west London.
However, stat show that the Red Devils might already be sorted in the middle of the park.
Findings from Opta show two of Erik ten Hag’s most prolific attacking midfielders Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes have largely outperformed the England international in key areas.
Fernandes and Eriksen have amassed 0.37 and 0.22 goals per 90 minutes respectively compared to Mount’s 0.25, which barely beats the Denmark international’s return.

However, the ex-Tottenham star outperforms the Chelsea ace in almost all other categories alongside the United vice-captain.
The Red Devils’ pair have registered 0.31 and 0.28 assists per 90 minutes compared to Mount’s 0.2.
Eiksen and Fernandes count 0.99 and 1.12 shots on target, whereas the Chelsea ace has a return of 0.86.
The United pair have also produced more successful tackles with 0.93 and 0.94 – Mount, on the other hand, counts 0.8.

Mount is also behind on passes as his return of 43.82 is eclipsed by Eriksen’s 57.61 and Fernandes’ 55.71.
The United stars also stand out on successful passes with the Dane registering a total of 47.05 with the Portuguese star on 43.36, while Mount is on 37.28.
Eriksen and Fernandes have registered 78.04 and 75.45 touches compared to the ex-Derby ace’s 64.72.
Mount only surpasses his probable team-mates on tackles having completed 1.71 per 90 mins compared to Eriksen and Fernandes’ 1.32 and 1.69 respectively.
However, those stats cover all three players’ all-time Premier League career in total.
And given Chelsea’s horror season that saw them finishing 12th, it would be no surprise if Mount’s stats were worse.

He now has no home, no car and no job.
For the last 18 months he has moved from hotel rooms to couches, reliant on the goodwill of friends and family for help.
And in an interview with The Daily Mail, he recently opened up about how his life has been turned upside down.
He said: “I spend each day just thinking about where to go really.

“I have family but I don’t really want to rely on them. I want to try to do stuff for myself. It’s been difficult. I try not to think about it too much. I just try and get on with it.
“They just want the best for me. They try to help me as much as they can. Obviously they’ve got their own lives. They get me hotels, or I can stay at their house sometimes.
“From day to day nothing is settled. You think it can never happen to you. I didn’t plan on retiring. It’s difficult.”
Mellis also bravely spoke about his ongoing struggle with alcohol, something that has affected him since his Chelsea days.

He revealed: “Throughout my career it’s been a thing that’s caused me problems. When you’re drinking you’re not in control of what you’re doing.
“It affects training, managers wouldn’t be happy. I remember I turned up one time to training drunk. I would’ve been 19.
“Steve Holland [Chelsea’s assistant coach] sent me in. There’s been a few occasions where it has affected me.
“David Luiz didn’t speak too much English, but when we’d be warming up he’d [mimics sniffing his breath] ‘Hey, have you been drinking?’. He would say stop.
“Dermot Drummy [Chelsea’s former academy manager] gave me a mentor, Ashley Cole, to stop me from going out and to talk to me. So people did try, I can’t lie.
“I was cocky back then, arrogant. I felt like I should be playing. I feel like it is a good thing if it’s channelled in the right way. But I don’t think I channelled it in the right way.”
He later added: “I’m drinking as much as I can really. Just to forget about the stress.
“It’s pretty much when the opportunity comes.”
Mellis left Chelsea in 2012 to sign for Barnsley, where he spent two years before joining Blackpool.
He also played for Oldham, Bury, Mansfield, Bolton and Gillingham before retiring at Southend United in the National League.

The former midfielder is now hoping to find a new role in football.
Chelsea have helped Mellis gain his first two scouting badges, and he is also in the process of getting help from both the PFA and Tony Adams’ Sporting Chance clinic. More

Arsenal in huge Declan Rice transfer boost as Man Utd boss Ten Hag ‘turns to other priorities’

ARSENAL have allegedly received a huge Declan Rice transfer boost. The West Ham captain, 24, looks set to depart the London Stadium this summer.
Arsenal appear to be in pole position to sign Declan Rice from West HamCredit: Richard Pelham / The Sun
The Hammers are demanding at least £100million for their academy graduate, despite his current contract expiring in 2024.
And manager David Moyes recently admitted that there is a good chance” his influential skipper could leave the club at the end of this season – with James Ward-Prowse lined up as a possible replacement.
Arsenal and Manchester United have been long-term admirers of Rice, with the Emirates side once the favourites to land him in a club-record transfer.
Bayern were also weighing up a move for the Hammers ace and we reported last week how the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions were preparing to step-up their pursuit of the England midfielder.

However, it then emerged that Rice had snubbed a move to Germany and now The Athletic have claimed that Arsenal are leading the chase.
United have been tracking the midfielder long-term and are still “keeping abreast of Rice’s situation going into the summer”.
But they also claim that “the fee being quoted and manager Erik ten Hag’s priorities lying elsewhere mean a turnaround is required for a formal approach from Old Trafford” to West Ham.
Rice is currently preparing for what is expected to be his last match for the Hammers in Wednesday’s Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag looks to be closing in on landing Mason Mount to bolster his midfield.
The academy graduate looks set to depart Stamford Bridge this summer after reportedly agreeing terms with Man United
The Red Devils will have to pay £70million plus add-ons if they want to sign Mount.
Chelsea are prepared to let the England star run down the final year of his contract rather than sell him for a price below their current valuation.
There have been talks between the two clubs after United agreed personal terms with Mount.
But Chelsea are digging in amid interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and other clubs. More
