I had a bizarre pre-match routine but my team-mate ruined it when he did a poo in my bath, says Julian Dicks

JULIAN DICKS never spent much time warming up before a Premier League clash — his pre-match routine was instead rather unorthodox. He said: “The water’s warm, never too hot, and I’m lying in here, stark b*****k naked, apart from my football boots.

“It’s 2.40pm and kick-off is only 20 minutes away. And I’m still in the bath.
“On the side of the tub are two cans of Coke and a Mars bar. Soon it will be converted into that endless energy I seem to find when I’m on the pitch.
“As I bite into the chocolate, the sound of the fans coming into Upton Park is getting louder. They’re watching the boys being put through their paces.
“I’ve never done a pre-match warm-up and never will. My warm-up is right here, in the bath. This is my sanctuary.

“Never mind the motivational messages from the gaffer. I’m ready to play.
“I’m ready to die for the claret and blue.”
There was, however, one time Dicks’ pre-match bath was rudely interrupted by the antics of team-mate John Moncur.
He added: “We were playing QPR  — I ran myself a lovely bath with bubbles in it and I stepped my feet into it.

“I glanced down into the tub, and I  was stunned to see a s*** floating in it.

“John had done a s*** in my bath.

The Blues are also thought to be interested in Milan frontman Rafael LeaoCredit: Rex
Keeper Maignan and his France team-mate, left-back Theo Hernandez, are said to be pondering their future.
Portugal striker Rafael Leao – despite just signing a new long-term contract – and Italy anchorman Sandro Tonali have also been mentioned.
But it’s Maignan’s situation that might excite Chelsea.
New Blues’ boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to want a new No1.

Inter Milan’s Andre Onana followed by Brentford star David Raya are regarded as further up the list than Maignan.
But the 27-year-old, who has won seven French caps, could be an easier player to land.
The saga at Milan comes just as legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic retires.
The Swedish hitman, 41, won Serie A three times with Inter and twice apiece with Juventus and Milan, also picking up silverware with Ajax, Barcelona, PSG and Manchester United.

La Repubblica name Maignan and Hernandez as possible departures to follow.
And Italian journalist Daniele Longo suggests Tonali could be another.
But Leao is perhaps the biggest surprise.
Last month Chelsea were said to have offered both Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic in their pursuit of the 23-year-old.
But it’s claimed the Italian giants want close to £130million for the former Lille and Sporting Lisbon hero. More

The Ange Postecoglou interview that left him ‘unemployable’ 16 years before landing Tottenham manager job

NEW Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou reckons he was once “unemployable” after an astonishing interview. The Aussie has left Celtic for his biggest job ever – 16 years after a TV row.
Ange Postecoglou feared for his coaching future after a fiery TV exchangeCredit: PA
Pundit Craig Foster called for Postecoglou to quit as Socceroos’ youth coach after they failed to qualify for the Under-20 World Cup in 2007.
Foster demanded better answers in a fiery exchange on Australian show The World Game and accused the Athens-born coach of ducking blame.
Postecoglou hit back by insisting: “Of course I’m not going to resign” and said of the presenter “You’re enjoying it”.
But he was soon ousted from his Socceroos’ job.

And he has since blasted the on-air criticism he received in the interview as “not necessary” – revealing he struggled to find “even an assistant coach’s role” due to the TV exchange.
However, he eventually found a job back in Greece with Panachaiki in 2008.
Postecoglou then managed Down Under with Brunswick Juventus, Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory, taking charge of the Australian senior national side from 2013-2017.
That included guiding the hosts to their first ever Asian Cup triumph in 2015, beating South Korea in the final.

Then came three years with Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos, followed by great success at Celtic for the past two seasons, leading to his Spurs appointment in Tuesday.
But Postecoglou, 57, has admitted how costly he feared his 2007 confrontation could have been.
He told the Shim, Spider and so much Moore podcast: “I just didn’t feel it was necessary, didn’t feel it was productive.
“I knew that interview wasn’t going to go well because we just failed to qualify for both the World Cups… my reasoning for doing it was trying to explain to people what was coming.
“I didn’t think it was necessary, the accountability already stood with me, but what it did do, it did make me unemployable. I couldn’t even get an assistant coaching role.”
He added: “It was the reason I went to Greece for a year because I wasn’t going to let Australian football stop me from my ambitions as a coach.
“It was disheartening because I just felt everything I had done with South Melbourne as a manager had been forgotten.
“As all things with life we take our knocks and move on, and it’s safe to say it didn’t hold me back for too long.”  More

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Frenchman has been offered the mega-money deal that will see him also keep hold of his image rights.

One fan tweeted: “Time to ditch the Mini Cooper. Take the money and set your family for the next generations. You have nothing left to prove in Europe.”
A second wrote: “Imagine how many mini-coopers mr humble Kante can buy with all that money.”
The 32-year-old has been driving that Mini since signing with Leicester in 2015 and it only cost him just north of £10,000.
Former Chelsea team-mate Antonio Rudiger has previously claimed that Kante used to refuse on splashing his cash on a new whip.

Rudiger told The Players’ Tribune: “Everything with NG [Kante] is authentic. Even the Mini Cooper — people laugh about it, but there is a real story behind it.
“It was a dream for NG to make it to the Premier League, coming from where he came from, and the Mini was the first car that he bought when he got to England. So for him, it is not just a car. It has a deep meaning.
“Of course, the boys always joke with him about it, but I am telling you — this man is so polite that he just tells you what you want to hear.
“Someone will say, ‘NG, you know what car is really cool? A Mercedes, bro. I can see you whippin’ a black Mercedes’.
“And NG will just look at them genuinely and say, ‘Yes, OK. We will think about it. Thank you, that’s a good idea’.
“But he’s just playing with you!!! At the end of the day, you know that you’re going to be seeing that Mini at the training ground for the next 10 years.” More

Man Utd icon Rio Ferdinand hilariously blames Arsenal for City’s Treble hunt and says ‘you folded like a pack of cards’

City have already picked up the FA Cup and Premier League titles, beating their cross-city rivals at Wembley Stadium 2-1.
Pep Guardiola’s side lifted the league title by catching Arsenal as their form dropped in the critical stage of the season.
And Ferdinand has hilariously pointed that as the reason City can complete a treble.
After being told by Arsenal fan John Beya that it was United’s job to stop city in the FA Cup, Ferdinand fired back.

He said on the VIBE with FIVE podcast: “It was your job, you were ahead 93 per cent of the time.
“You was in a prime position to do that, and you folded like a pack of cards.”
On the final against City, Ferdinand delivered a scathing summary.
He added: “It was over before it started.

“I didn’t have any genuine belief that we could win it. It is a 50/50 on the day but it weren’t a real 50/50.
“They are the better team, they have been together for a far longer period, they are in a rich vein of form.”
Ferdinand then praised Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan after the German midfielder netted a brace in the final.
He said: “The person that I think needs talking about is the captain, Gundogan.
“I think he’s been immense. We talk about [Erling] Haaland, rightly so. We talk about [Jack] Grealish, rightly so. We talk about [Kevin] De Bruyne, rightly so. [John] Stones recently as well, all rightly so.
“But Gundogan, when it’s mattered, he has come up trumps, either with goals, performances, the control of games, the pace and tempo goes through him and Rodri a lot of the time.
“And he defines what everything’s good about this team.
“He’s calm under pressure, never seems like with a hair out of place. He’s just there, man!” More
