ERLING HAALAND admits Manchester United inspired him to want to be a Champions League winner. The Manchester City goal machine, who faces Inter Milan in Saturday’s final, has dreamt of lifting the European Cup ever since he was seven and watched his club’s big rivals defeat Chelsea in the 2008 final when Alex Ferguson was boss.

Man Utd’s 2008 triumph had a big impression on a young Haaland
Haaland said: “I’ve been dreaming and thinking of winning the Champions League my whole life — it’s been my dream as long as I can remember.
“In 2008, it was Chelsea-United. When I saw the celebrations, I wanted to do that as well and now we’re getting closer.”
Haaland has netted 52 times in a phenomenal debut season with his City side a single win away from securing the Treble.
He was even videoed playing the Champions League anthem in his car when he was a teenager at Red Bull Salzburg.

And Haaland told BBC radio: “I love this competition and I enjoy it, so that’s why I listened to it. It’s also a really nice song!”
Haaland, 22, is under no illusions that City bought him from Borussia Dortmund in order to conquer Europe for the first time.
He said: “The Premier League, they won it two times in a row before I came here so they know how to win the Premier League.
“The only thing they miss now is the Champions League so you can read between the lines — I’ve been coming here for a reason.”

City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne says he is no longer the “mane man” in his household following 22-year-old Haaland’s arrival.
The Belgian has been the club’s biggest star since arriving in 2015.
But Haaland’s incredible first season has turned the heads of everyone — including KDB’s kids.
The 31-year-old said: “All three children have long hair and Erling is a superstar. I see that with the kids at their school, too. They all have hair like that. It’s funny.”
De Bruyne has won five Prems, two FA Cups and five League Cups but international team-mate Romelu Lukaku and his Inter pals stand in his way of completing the set by adding the Champions League.
He added: “He’s one of my best friends in football. I’ve known him since 13, 14 years old.
“In the end it’s football for 90 minutes, we try to win against each other and after that we will see each other with the national team.”

“He wants to go. You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.”
Rice emulated legendary skipper Bobby Moore by lifting a major European trophy, thanks to Jarrod Bowen’s last-gasp Europa Conference League winner to beat Fiorentina 2-1.
Yesterday, Rice posted a photo on Instagram of himself holding the trophy in his Prague hotel bed with the caption: “Good morning”.
He has a year left on his current deal and West Ham have the option to extend it until 2025.
Rice has consistently expressed his desire to play in the Champions League and compete for major honours.
On whether any bids had already been made, Sullivan told talkSPORT: “No. But I think the offers will start to come.

“There are three or four clubs who have shown interest but out of respect to West Ham, while we’re still playing, you don’t make offers for players.”
Following Wednesday’s historic win, Rice refused to confirm whether his 245th appearance for the club would be his last.

He said: “It’s flattering to be wanted but the badge on my chest is West Ham and ultimately it’s up to the people above.”
Manager David Moyes’ future is also up in the air but he is now expected to stay on at the London Stadium to lead the search for Rice’s replacement. More

Man United consider sending Mason Greenwood out on loan to a European club for WHOLE of next season

MANCHESTER United are reportedly considering sending Mason Greenwood out on loan to a European club for the whole of next season. The young striker is still under an internal investigation by the club over charges of rape and assault that were dropped in February.

Man United officials are said to be considering sending Greenwood out for an entire year, as their internal probe continues with several European teams showing interest.
Mail Sport reports that the likely options are Italy, Spain and Turkey after the club stepped up their investigation into the 21-year-old.
Last month, The Sun exclusively revealed that Juventus were keen to take on Greenwood – giving him a route back to top-level football.
And the Italian club hope a long-term loan deal can be agreed this summer, while Milan and Roma are also keen on signing Greenwood.

It is unlikely the Bradford-born player will head to another Premiere League club.
The footballer still has two years remaining on his £75,000-a-week contact and United fear they will struggle to attract a serious fee if they opted to sell.
The club faces two options – either release the player following the probe if found to have brought the club into disrepute or send him overseas to allow time for further investigation.
It provides United with a chance to gauge public reaction to the move and also to monitor Greenwood’s playing ability following his time away from football.

That makes a long-term loan his likeliest chance of a move, and that’s only as long as the club he joins agrees to cover his wages.
The 21-year-old was suspended when the allegations were made against him in January of last year and he has not featured for United since.
All merchandise bearing the No11’s name was axed from the official Utd site and teammates unfollowed him on Instagram.
Greenwood was due to stand trial in November, 2023 after being accused of attempted rape, assault and coercive control.
The Crown Prosecution dropped the charges, citing “a withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction”.

The Switzerland star, 24, has just helped Villa finish fifth in the Women’s Soccer League.
That was comfortably the best of the rest – with the big four of champions Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City well clear.
And Alisha’s fans showed they were up for seeing her downtime with their delighted reaction to her beach photos.
Posing in a pink outfit, she wrote: “When the sea matches the eyes.”

Some fans noted her blonde hair mirrored the sand in the “wonderful” and “just lovely” photos.
One follower posted: “So precious and beautiful you are.”
“Just wow,” said another, as Alisha displayed dark make-up and white-painted fingernails.
It’s more evidence of why she’s reportedly the world’s most-followed football heroine.

Alisha’s fanbase has soared since she moved from BSC YB Frauen in her home nation to West Ham five years ago.
She helped the Hammers win the Women’s FA Cup in her first season.
But she switched to Everton on loan in January 2021 before a permanent transfer to Villa at the end of that campaign.
Alisha’s reputed annual salary of around £160,000 is more than topped up by lucrative sponsorship deals with Adidas and EA Sports.
So it’s understandable the “gorgeous” influencer had a satisfied smile on her face as she lapped up the sun at her luxury West Indian resort.
