Scholes was injured after a clash with old pal Nani
He managed to turn the game on it’s head in the 53rd minute with a classic strike into the bottom-right corner from outside the box to put England 2-1 up.
But just four minutes later, he was forced off with a knee issue after a collision with former United pal Nani.
After the match, Scholes took to Instagram to share how delighted he was about returning to Old Trafford – despite his injury.
He wrote: “Knee’s f***** but couldn’t give two s****… nothing will ever give me a better feeling than playing in front of a full house at OT and scoring a goal.

“Great couple of days with some very funny people.”
Scholes’ daughter, Alicia, also took to Instagram to share a video of her dad walking out of the house on crutches.
World XI went on to win the match 4-2 thanks to three late goals from former Tottenham and Liverpool striker Robbie Keane and Love Island star Kem Cetinay.
Man Utd icons Patrice Evra and Nani were also part of the match-winning World XI squad, while Gary Neville started for England.

Prior to the match, Scholes was furious about the blue and white flags that had been put out in the Old Trafford stands, claiming someone was “taking the p***”.
He believed that they were too similar to the colours of United’s rivals, Manchester City, who had won the Treble the previous night.
However, the flags were merely there to represent the colours of Unicef, the charity behind Soccer Aid. More

Man Utd in mega transfer boost as Real Madrid ‘won’t sign Kane OR Mbappe after opting for Stoke flop’

REAL MADRID are not pursuing Harry Kane or Kylian Mbappe in a boost to Manchester United, reports in Spain say. The Spanish giants have lost star striker Karim Benzema, who recently signed for Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.

And Tottenham’s Kane and Mbappe of PSG were to two linked as Benzema’s replacement.
But according to Spanish sports radio Cope, Real Madrid are instead looking to sign Joselu.
The forward spent two seasons with Stoke – from 2015-2017 – but he scored just four in 27 matches.
From there he signed for Newcastle after a loan move with Deportivo and managed seven goals in 57 games at St James Park.

But Joselu really reinvented himself back in Spain with Alaves and now Espanyol.
He scored 17 in 38 last season which has caught the attention of Real Madrid.
Once the Spaniard has been added to the squad, along with Jude Bellingham, Carlo Ancelotti’s men are set to close for business as far as the summer transfer window is concerned.
That is despite rumours of Kane looking to leave Spurs, with the likes of United and Bayern Munich linked.

Cope and Real Madrid TV presenter Melchor Ruiz tweeted: “Real Madrid is not going to make any offer this summer to Kylian Mbappe because it knows that Kylian wants to complete his remaining year at PSG.
“And they are not going to sign Harry Kane either.
“RM only intends to sign, in addition to Fran Garcia, Brahim Diaz and Jude Bellingham, Joselu.”
PSG may well look to sell Mbappe this summer after the French superstar decided not to renew his contract, which expires a year from now.
In a statement to AFP, the striker revealed he informed the Ligue 1  champions of his decision LAST YEAR.
A statement from Mbappe, 24, read: “I have NEVER discussed any contract renewal with PSG.
“The board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 — and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them.”
It is still believed to be highly likely that Real Madrid will come back in for Mbappe next summer, when he is set to be available for free.
However, Los Blancos’ apparent withdrawal from this year’s bidding process gives the Red Devils a window of opportunity to sign the striker.

A move to Man Utd was reportedly proposed by PSG’s owners in January, when he was said to have told them the Red Devils project was of interest.
And should Sheikh Jassim’s Man Utd takeover bid prove successful, PSG’s Qatari owners will likely be very happy to sell to a club owned by their fellow countrymen rather than Real Madrid.

Ex-Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘targeted for managerial return in Championship after 19-MONTH exile’

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER is being targeted by a Championship club 19 months after his dismissal from Manchester United, reports suggest.Solskjaer was sacked by United in 2021 following a disastrous campaign that saw the team finishing sixth and has since been a free agent.

According to The Mail, the Norwegian tactician may get the chance to return to action.
The club in question want to seal a permanent appointment this week as they target an immediate return to the Premier League after their relegation to the Championship.
Solskjaer initially replaced Jose Mourinho on an interim basis in 2018 but won over Man Utd fans, just like he did as a player.
The club legend started led the Red Devils to second place in the 2020-2021 season, which is their joint best finish since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

And that record seems to have drawn Leicester’s owners to him.
The club are newly relegated, but did enjoy a lot of their success, including their 2016 title triumph, by playing the kind of counter-attacking football favoured by Solskjaer.
However, the 50-year-old will be facing competition for the Foxes job as the club’s hierarchy is also considering other options.
The East Midlanders initially prioritised Graham Potter, who is still a free agent after his dismissal from Chelsea.

However, Potter is not keen to work in the Championship and is holding out for a potential return to the Premier League.
Therefore, Leicester are also eyeing Scott Parker, who previously won promotion with Fulham and Bournemouth.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s assistant Enzo Maresca has also been touted.
Dean Smith, who replaced Brendan Rodgers until the end of the season, is still talking to the club about a full-time agreement even though he failed to save the team from relegation.
Steven Gerrard was previously linked but is now holding talks with Saudi club Al-Ettifaq. More

I was a physio under Jurgen Klopp.. he threatened to demote star to reserves when he wouldn’t play after brutal injury

LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp threatened to drop one of his Borussia Dortmund goalkeepers to the second team after he went down with a bloody nose during training. That is according to Klopp’s former physio Thomas Zetzmann, who was part of his medical team during his successful seven-year spell at Dortmund.

Zetzmann remembered what a perfectionist the German tactician was at the Signal Iduna Park with his ruthless and no-nonsense style on the training pitch.
So much so, that during a training camp in Marbella the Liverpool boss had a furious altercation with his third-choice goalkeeper Zlatan Alomerovic.
Alomerovic clashed with a team-mate so hard his nose started running with blood.
But Klopp ordered him to get back up to his feet or he would send him back to the reserves.

The physio tried to get in and treat the Serbian, who currently plays for Jagiellonia Bialystok, and the 55-year-old directed his fury at him as he hated interruptions during training.
Zetzmann told GOAL: “Once in training camp in Marbella, everyone was not really awake yet and the training match did not go very well.
“The third goalkeeper, Zlatan Alomerovic, collided with a player. I was standing a good distance away with the ice box, but immediately saw blood running from his nose.
“You have to know that with Jurgen, you should only run onto the field when it’s really critical.

“He didn’t want to interrupt the game unnecessarily. That was something like an educational measure for the players, he always demanded a healthy toughness.
“As a physio, you sometimes got a good run-in if you ran into something he thought was unnecessary. Zlatan was bleeding a lot.
“Jurgen, however, got upset about the interruption and just shouted: ‘Get up!’ And Zlatan shouted back: ‘What do you mean, get up? Don’t you see?’
“No one has ever dared to do that in all these years. He said coldly: ‘What did you just say? You get up right now and go into your goal. Or do you want to go back to the second team?’
“I tried to calm him down, but Jurgen was probably fired up due to the lax play and then also attacked me.
“Afterwards he apologised as he often does and said that he had exaggerated and that he could have managed the situation quite differently.” More

I won the World Cup with Foden and Sancho, now I work a 9-5 office job.. I sometimes wonder how this happened

FORMER Manchester City prospect Curtis Anderson went from World Cup glory with England’s Under-17s to an office job at the age of 22.Anderson was crucial in the Young Lions’ 2017 triumph in India with some key saves as he denied a penalty and scored another in the quarter-final shoot-out against Japan before the final versus Spain.

He stood out for Steve Cooper’s side alongside Jadon Sancho, Phil Foden , Conor Gallagher, Marc Guehi, Morgan Gibbs-White, Emile Smith Rowe and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The goalkeeper, who now classifies as a free agent, appeared to be on the way up as he even impressed City manager Pep Guardiola who named him as his third choice at the Etihad.
However, it all started to go south at the age of 19 when Blackburn came calling during the January transfer window.
The Citizens told him to stay on until the end of the season but he insisted on a move to Ewood Park, which never materialised.

Anderson told The Times: “Me being a kid and thinking I knew everything, I was like, no, I need to go and play.
“Blackburn were clearly there — why not train, stay earning this money and go to Blackburn at the end of the season? Nobody told me to do that.”
That led Anderson moving across the pond to Charlotte Independence, which was a second-tier club in the United States.
Celtic’s former youth coach Jim McGuinness attracted him to Charlotte after he was appointed manager and thought he would help him move to the MLS.

But McGuinness was sacked just three months later and the shot-stopper only managed 11 appearances before his departure a few months later.
Anderson added: “Going to America stopped my momentum. Coming back to England during Covid killed me.
“I went from loving football, ages eight to 18, to thinking, ‘This isn’t what I thought it was’.
“Whether it’s unlucky, unfortunate, wrong decisions here or there, people not helping, whatever you want to call it, it’s not great. I sometimes struggle with how I feel about it.”

Anderson returned to England for Wycombe in the Championship but was quickly sent out on loan to non-league sides Walton Casuals and Eastbourne Borough before his departure on January 31.
He joined Lancaster City and that is when he decided to look for a different career in finance as he wanted more stability in his life.
Anderson now works as a financial adviser for Markland Hill Wealth in Lancaster – he is in fact the only one from that England Under-17 side that is no longer active in football.
However, he admitted he “really struggled” watching former team-mates, like Foden and Gallagher, getting called up by England manager Gareth Southgate for the 2022 World Cup.
And he stayed behind watching his buddies compete in Qatar during his lunch break at the office wondering what could have been.
    Read more on The Sun
Anderson said: “I really struggled [during the World Cup] because I was seeing so many of my old team-mates and people I had spent a lot of time with.
“And then there’s me, sat at home watching on TV, thinking, ‘How has this ended up happening?'” More

Wolves are also believed to be interested in cashing in on the Portuguese international with his current contract expiring in June 2024.
Barcelona appeared a likely destination, however Mendes’ ambitious plan to execute a switch between Neves and Catalan star Ansu Fati – another of his clients – has hit stumbling blocks.
Despite being unwanted at Barca by boss Xavi, Fati, 20, has no interest in swapping Spain for the Midlands.
Barca are not in a financial position to fork out an estimated £25m to bring Neves to the Nou Camp without the option of a player exchange.

Tensions between Fati and Mendes are at breaking point, while Neves is also getting frustrated that his future is no closer to being resolved.
SunSport understands that Mendes is using Barca’s weak interest in Neves to ramp up attention from previous potential suitors Arsenal and Newcastle.
The Premier League duo at one point had considered a move for Neves, but have since moved on to other targets.
The Gunners are hoping to complete a £90m plus add-ons deal for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, while Brighton’s Moises Caicedo is also up for grabs.

The Toon are not expected to spend big this window, with Neves understood not to be a part of Eddie Howe’s plans to add quality to the squad.
SunSport have also been told that Neves would not favour a big-money leap to Saudi Arabia, still wanting to prove himself amongst Europe’s elite in his peak years.

In a statement to AFP, Mbappe revealed he informed the Ligue 1  champions of his decision to leave LAST YEAR.
His deal – believed to be worth over £500million – runs through to 2024 and has an optional extension clause to 2025.
But with Mbappe ready to run down his deal, PSG will not allow him to leave for free and will instead look to sell him.
According to El Pais, should United be taken over by Qatari investors, it could pave the way for a stunning transfer.

A move to Man Utd had been proposed by PSG’s owners, who are also from Qatar, in January.
And though Mbappe did not make a decision, Parisian sources told the Spanish paper that he stated that the project was of interest to him.
Reports in the Middle East on Tuesday claimed Sheikh Jassim has won the race to take charge at Old Trafford.

Ineos had been the front-runners to purchase a 60 per cent stake in United, which would have seen the Glazer family stay on in a reduced role.
