The midfielder failed to hold down a regular spot in the Blues’ squad and he would go on loan four times before being released last summer.
Drinkwater is without a club but has not ruled out a reunion with N’Golo Kante, who left Chelsea for Al-Ittihad.
He told SportBible: “If I was to team up again with Kante, the team knows they’ve got a Premier League-winning formula there.
“If that’s something they are interested in then I’m game. I think bringing players like Benzema, Ronaldo and Kante to the country is massively attractive for other professionals as well.

“You want to test yourself. I’d be more than willing to listen to offers and have a look.
“I’m sure it would be a great experience. They are building towards something special.”
Drinkwater, 33, has opened up about the struggles he suffered off the field, including crashing his £125,000 Range Rover.
The footballer smashed the car into a wall in Chesire at 12.30 at night with two female passengers in the motor at the time.

Drinkwater was banned from driving for 20 months and ordered to do 70 hours of community service after admitting to drink-driving.
He said: “When you’ve got a young kid at the time as well, your perspective changes.
“I remember being sat in the prison cell afterwards. It was the morning I was supposed to pick my son up.
“I rarely got a morning, as well. In my head, I was thinking, ‘You’re an idiot. You’ve had a car crash after a night out and for what?’
“It hit me like a ton of bricks. I was like, ‘F*****g hell, you need to fix up really fast’. That was the biggest wake-up call ever.”
Before officially leaving Chelsea, Drinkwater wrote a statement apologising to fans for how his transfer played out.
He described it as a “business move gone wrong” and a “hugely disappointing” spell that was hampered by injuries and a lack of minutes.
A year on, Drinkwater is still without a club, having last played on loan with Reading only to be sent back.

A WOMAN allegedly raped by Benjamin Mendy told a pal he “thought he can get away with it” because he played for Man City, a court heard.The left-back, who has been released from the Premier League club, is accused of raping the woman during a party at his mansion.

Chester Crown Court heard how she text a friend after the alleged attack, saying: “I can’t stop crying.
“It was a City player bro. Premier League footballer. That’s why he probably thinks he can get away with it.”
The alleged victim, named as Woman Two, also told the friend she “kept saying no”, it was said.
She said how there had been a “bit of a situation” as she asked the pal to call her and explained she had ended up at Mendy’s for an “after party thing”.

The woman claimed the footballer “was a bit forcey”, adding: “I kept saying no, I don’t want to.”
Mendy is accused of one count of rape and one count of attempted rape against two women.
Jurors have been told the French international was previously found not guilty on other charges following a trial.
The retrial heard how Woman Two was “forcefully” raped by Mendy in October 2022 after they met at a bar.
    Most read in Football
She had been invited back to his home along with her friends, where they were later asked to hand over their mobiles, it was said.
Woman Two later followed the star into a bedroom where the doors were locked behind her with an internal locking system, it is alleged.
Jurors heard Mendy told her he would hand her phone back if he could see her naked, causing the complainant to tell him: “I do not want to have sex with you”.
He allegedly added: “If you just take off your clothes. I just wanna have a look at you. I promise you I won’t touch you.
“I just wanna see what you look like. I wanna see your body. I wanna see your t***. Your t*** are so big.”
She then claims he raped her as she struggled against him and told him no.
Mendy is accused of calling the woman “too shy” as he claimed: “I’ve had sex with 10,000 women”.
Jurors heard last week how Woman One was allegedly targeted by the Man City star at a gathering in his mansion.
She claimed he attempted to rape her after he followed her into the bathroom.
The court was told she repeatedly asked Mendy to “stop” in French as he held her down.
He then told her: “Don’t worry. Are you scared?”
The woman later messaged a pal, saying: “I just got sexually abused, if that’s the right word, by Mendy.”
She also claimed the footballer “wouldn’t let me go” in the text in October 2018.
City spent a reported £49.2million signing Mendy from French side Monaco in 2017.
He last played for the club on August 15, 2021, during their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham at the start of last season.
In September 2020, City boss Pep Guardiola revealed Mendy would be out of the game for at least a month due to an injury.
He was later suspended pending an investigation after being charged.
Mendy denies one count of rape and one of attempted rape.
    The trial continues.

And Rahman knows all too well about the system, having been sent away SEVEN times with four different clubs.
But at last Chelsea are set to release the flop left-back, who was deemed below grade for the first team.
He’s set to join PAOK in Greece and fans feel it’s about time.
One said: “At long last the forgotten son is released.”

Another added: “Baba finally escaping Chelsea’s loan army! Man needed a fresh start miles away from Stamford Bridge.”
Rahman, now 29, signed for Chelsea from Augsburg in 2015 as a highly-touted prospect.
But he suffered inconsistent form and by the following season, the defender was out on loan with Schalke, also returning in 2018.
Rahman had other stints with Reims, Mallorca, PAOK, and Reading, where he played his football last season.

The full-back prepares to leave Chelsea having made only 23 appearances.
Despite never getting the chance to hold down a regular spot in the Blues’ squad, Rahman insisted the transfer was no mistake.
He told 3Sports in 2021: “I don’t think I will one day say I regret joining Chelsea Football Club.
“Not every player gets the chance to play for one of the best teams in the world so it is one thing I would say to my kids, that once I played for a top club in the world.”

Rahman will become the latest player to have been released by Chelsea, after 13 left in the summer.
Midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko – signed for £40million in 2017 – was among those to go and is now without a club.

Manchester United bosses to rule on Mason Greenwood’s future this month as footballer readies for major life change

MANCHESTER United are about to make a decision on whether to keep hold of suspended England striker Mason Greenwood. The Premier League giants will rule this month on whether to restore the 21-year-old to manager Erik ten Hag’s squad or encourage him to move elsewhere.
A decision is looming on Mason Greenwood’s Manchester United future

Greenwood was exiled from the Old Trafford club after being charged with sexual offences and violence against a woman after troubling images were posted online in January last year.
He was later charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour, but the CPS dropped its case in February.
The £75,000-a-week star has been suspended on full pay but has been undergoing private one-to-one coaching sessions at an £85-an-hour public pitch – and expects to hear very soon whether he has a future at the club.
The Sun revealed on Saturday former United boss Jose Mourinho had telephoned Greenwood to sound him out about a loan move to Italian Serie A side Roma.

A source said: “Jose rang Mason’s dad and also spoke with Mason. He told him the best way out of his current situation is to start playing football — and that eventually all the hassle will fade away.
“Mason was pleased that he got in touch and it has lifted his spirits.
“He wants to get back playing and is just waiting for United to tell him what the future holds.”
Former Red Devils defender Chris Smalling — who played with Greenwood — left Old Trafford for Roma on loan in 2019.

United are said to have had contact with other Italian teams Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan about potential moves.
Greenwood is set to become a dad later this month, with his partner, enjoying a baby shower with pals this weekend.
She posed in front of a flower backdrop and was spotted hugging various friends.
She also flashed a beaming smile while cradling her bump in front of a balloon arch.
The couple were previously spotted at the five-star Langham Hotel in central London.
Greenwood was given his England debut by manager Gareth Southgate as a late substitute against Iceland in September 2020, though has not played for his country since.
Two days after the Iceland game he and Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden were withdrawn from the squad for breaching Covid guidelines by leaving the part of the hotel where they were staying.
New photos have shown how the striker has discarded his long wavy hair in favour of a crew cut.
A source said: “Mason hasn’t really been out for a good few months so he hasn’t really had to bother too much with his personal appearance.

“But getting a new trim is another indication that he is going to be playing football somewhere next season.”
Bradford-born Greenwood has scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for Manchester United, having joined the club as a six-year-old.

ARSENAL are reportedly considering a move for ANOTHER Manchester City star in what would be their THIRD in just 12 months.Mikel Arteta’s side set the pace at the top of the Premier League table for much of last season, before falling away towards the end as Pep Guardiola’s men claimed a fifth title in six years.

Their ultimately unsuccessful title tilt was helped by Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko – both of whom joined from Man City.
Last month, Arsenal were also being linked with a move for Ilkay Gundogan – whose contract was up at the Etihad.
But they failed to acquire the German international, 32, who penned a deal with Barcelona.
Now Arteta is understood to be looking at another player he coached during his time at Man City.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Gunners are interested in bringing centre-back Aymeric Laporte to the Emirates.
The Spanish defender, 29, started just 11 league games last season as he slipped down the pecking order behind the likes of Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji.
And he could find himself even further away from Guardiola’s starting line-up if Man City strike a deal for RB Leipzig man Josep Gvardiol.
During their Premier League title celebrations in May, Laporte broke down in tears on the pitch.

It left many fans speculating that he had played his final game for the club.
He then shared a cryptic Instagram post which read: “After the rain, a rainbow; after a storm, the calm; and after an end, a new beginning.”
But Arsenal face competition in their pursuit of Laporte – who has amassed 22 caps for Spain.
Juventus are said to be interested in the ex-Athletic Bilbao man, while Barcelona have previously been linked with him. More

But after failing to nail down a first XI place at United, Chong joined Championship club Birmingham for £1.5million last season having spent the previous season on loan at the Blues.

And United could be set for an unexpected boost to their transfer kitty as a result of Chong’s move back to the Premier League.
The Red Devils entered a 25% sell-on-fee into their deal with Birmingham last summer, and the windfall will be a welcome boost to their summer transfer budget as they look to target the likes of Rasmus Hojlund.

While details of a fee are currently unclear, any boost to United’s budget will be welcomed by Ten Hag as the club’s takeover continues to drag on.
They are set for one transfer boost in the coming days though, with Mason Mount arriving at United’s Carrington training ground today ahead of a medical at the club.
United had a breakthrough in negotiations for the Chelsea midfielder last week as the two clubs agreed a £60m fee.
In other news for United, David De Gea is now officially a free agent after his £375,000-a-week contract expired on Saturday.
