Duncan Ferguson LEAVES vegan club Forest Green after relegation as fans joke ‘bet he’s eating a sausage roll right now’

DUNCAN FERGUSON has left Forest Green Rovers just six months after taking charge after a disagreement over the direction the club were taking.SunSport understands the Everton legend was unhappy with their new sporting structure with director of football Allan Steele being appointed last month following the team’s relegation from League One.

Rovers had already signed three new players during the transfer window but Ferguson had a different vision in terms of how he believes the club should move forward.
Ferguson took charge with the Gloucestershire side rock bottom in January and only managed one win in 18 as the team crashed straight back down into the fourth tier.
The former Scotland ace had signed a five-year deal and spoke enthusiastically about the club’s rebuilding plans following their relegation.
But owner Dale Vince has decided to part company with his boss after it was clear Ferguson was unhappy with the club’s direction of travel.

Vince insists the decision to part company was amicable and said: “It’s been a privilege to work with Dunc these last few months and this was a very difficult decision to make.
“I’m grateful to Dunc for joining us in such difficult circumstances and for all of his hard work at the club.
“But I feel this is overall the right decision for everyone and I wish Dunc well in his next coaching role.
“We are parting as friends. You can’t ask for much more than that.”

Ferguson had joined the Everton coaching staff in 2014 and twice acted as caretaker-boss before leaving the club last summer but struggled in his first managerial job.
And fans were quick to see the funny side after Bic Dunc left, as they concluded he was never likely to see eye to eye with owner Vince.
One tweeted: “The moment I saw a pic of Big Dunc and the Forest Green owner with painted finger nails, I knew it wasn’t gonna last long.”
Others believed Ferguson would have been unable to adapt to the club’s vegan diet.
One tweet read: “He’s going to clean out every Greggs meat sausage roll in Gloucestershire.”
Another wrote: “Bet he’s eating a sausage roll right now.”
And a third tweet read: “Fair he couldn’t take anymore pretending to be a vegan.”

It’s unknown if Ten Hag will allow the Scot to leave the Theatre of Dreams.
The Dutchman is said to rate McTominay very highly, although it’s claimed he could potentially deem him to be “surplus to requirements” if the right offer comes in.
McTominay made 39 appearances in all competitions in Ten Hag’s maiden campaign at the Old Trafford helm, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
United academy graduate McTominay has thoroughly enjoyed playing under the former Ajax gaffer, saying: “Obviously, the transition in terms of his style is very, very different to some other coaches.

The woman, who is posing in an Arsenal shirt in one of her pictures, wrote: “Go back to Jonjo Shelvey’s with Lingard and Chris Wood while he proceeds to put his own football clips on.”
Social media users quickly wrote of their disbelief over the claim, with one writing: “Absolutely didn’t happen of the year award”

It is unknown when the videos and pictures were taken by the woman.
Shelvey, 31, signed for Nottingham Forest in January after making 202 appearance for Newcastle United.
The midfielder, who has six caps for England, got married to Daisy Evans in 2015.
He revealed earlier this year that he offered John Legend around £50,000 to perform at his wedding, but the US singer turned it down.
His wife Daisy shot to stardom as part of S Club Eight alongside Rochelle Humes and Frankie Bridge in 2001.
Kiwi striker Wood also signed for Forest from Newcastle in January after the clubs agreed a £15million fee.
Lingard was released by Forest last month and is yet to find a new club.
He had spent 22 years as Manchester United before leaving as a free agent last year.
The midfielder signed a one-year deal worth up to £150,000-a-week with Nottingham Forest last summer.

Hudson-Odoi, 22, spent last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea are said to be prepared to listen to offers for him.
Nottingham Forest, AC Milan and near-neighbours Fulham are said to be among the clubs interested in the England star.
Hudson-Odoi broke into the team towards the end of Antonio Conte’s spell in charge in 2017.
And he showed huge potential under Conte’s successors Maurizio Sarri and Frank Lampard.

He was then moved to wing-back under Thomas Tuchel, where he initially showed promise.
But in 2021 he was subbed on at half time of a 1-0 loss to Southampton, then later subbed off again.

After the match, Tuchel said: “I was not happy with his attitude, energy and counter-pressing.
“I took him off and we demand 100%, I feel he is not in the right shape to help us.

“It was a hard decision but tomorrow it is forgotten.”
Later that year, Tuchel questioned Hudson-Odoi’s attitude when he chose not to play for England U21 after previously being called up to the senior team.
The England international, who has been courted by Ghana, had an underwhelming loan with Leverkusen.
He played 22 matches in total, scoring just once with a deflected goal against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. More

Mason Greenwood’s three options for his future revealed – and why mooted loan for Man Utd striker could prove difficult

THREE options facing Mason Greenwood have been revealed as a decision on the suspended Manchester United striker’s future looms. The England international has been linked with a transfer to Italy, but new doubts about a move to Serie A have now emerged.

Premier League giants United are expected to rule this month on whether to restore the 21-year-old forward to manager Erik ten Hag’s squad.
His three options are staying with the Red Devils, moving to another English club or elsewhere in Europe perhaps on loan.
Yet new uncertainty has been raised about whether he would be welcomed in Serie A despite rumoured interest from various Italian clubs.
Greenwood was exiled from the Old Trafford club after being charged with sexual offences and violence against a woman after troubling images were posted online in January last year.

He was later charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour, but the CPS dropped its case in February.
The £75,000-a-week star has been suspended on full pay but has been undergoing private one-to-one coaching sessions at an £85-an-hour public pitch.
The Sun revealed on Saturday former United boss Jose Mourinho had telephoned Greenwood to sound him out about a loan move to Italian Serie A side Roma.
A source said: “Jose rang Mason’s dad and also spoke with Mason. He told him the best way out of his current situation is to start playing football — and that eventually all the hassle will fade away.

“Mason was pleased that he got in touch and it has lifted his spirits.
“He wants to get back playing and is just waiting for United to tell him what the future holds.”
Former Red Devils defender Chris Smalling — who played with Greenwood — left Old Trafford for Roma on loan in 2019.
United are said to have had contact with other Italian teams Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan about potential moves.
Yet doubts have now emerged over a move to Italy, with suggestions there could be a backlash despite Greenwood being cleared of all charges, according to The Athletic.
    Italian football’s anti-violence campaigns
Serie A has a partnership with the WeWorld non-profit organisation which campaigns to raise awareness of violence against women.
The league has dedicated a matchday to the issue in each of the past six seasons.
High-profile names who have spoken out in support include Luciano Spalletti who managed Napoli to last season’s league title and Italian World Cup winners Alessandro Del Piero and Marco Materazzi.
Members of Manchester United Women’s team have reportedly raised concerns about the prospect of Greenwood returning to the training ground.
Yet ten Hag has appeared to suggest he would be prepared to welcome Greenwood back into the fold.
Greenwood is set to become a dad later this month, with his partner, enjoying a baby shower with pals last weekend.
She posed in front of a flower backdrop and was spotted hugging various friends.
She also flashed a beaming smile while cradling her bump in front of a balloon arch.
The couple were previously spotted at the five-star Langham Hotel in central London.
Greenwood was given his England debut by manager Gareth Southgate as a late substitute against Iceland in September 2020, though has not played for his country since.
Two days after the Iceland game he and Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden were withdrawn from the squad for breaching Covid guidelines by leaving the part of the hotel where they were staying.
New photos have shown how the striker has discarded his long wavy hair in favour of a crew cut.
A source said: “Mason hasn’t really been out for a good few months so he hasn’t really had to bother too much with his personal appearance.

“But getting a new trim is another indication that he is going to be playing football somewhere next season.”

Mason Mount, who is set to arrive at Old Trafford from Chelsea imminently, is believed to fit perfectly into the Dutchman’s system.
Mount, in turn, was said to be hugely impressed by Ten Hag’s eye for detail, as he snubbed new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino to choose a move up North.
Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy tweeted: “Erik ten Hag introduced 83 principles when he arrived at Manchester United.
“Many explained what to do without the ball: Mason Mount ticks all the core traits he seeks, while being comfortable as a creator.

Man Utd have agreed a fee of £55m rising to a potential £60m to sign Mount from Chelsea.
The Blues would ordinarily ask for a far higher fee for a talent like Mount, but their hand was forced by the England star having a year left on his contract.
Mount had previously hoped to follow John Terry and spend his entire career in West London.

Rice’s imminent Emirates arrival will take the Gunners’ summer spending to a staggering £170m, which was kicked off with the £65m signing of Kai Havertz.
But they’re reportedly set to take their splurge well over the £200m mark with a move for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
That’s according to The Times, who claim the North Londoners are weighing up a bid for the 19-year-old.
But the Gunners will have to delve deep into their pockets to sign the Belgium international – who caught the eye of several clubs last season.

Southampton – despite being in desperate need of cash following their relegation to the Championship – are demanding a minimum of £50m for Lavia’s services.
Arsenal will reportedly face competition from Prem rivals Chelsea and Liverpool, the latter of whom are said to be preparing to table a bid in the region of £40m.

Gunners chief Arteta will be hoping the addition of Havertz and Rice will help Arsenal end their 20-year wait for Premier League glory.
Arsenal surrendered the league to Manchester City by squandering a NINE POINT lead during a disastrous three-week period in April.

“Why? Last year it already was. I’ve been here for 22 years and I’ve never seen a competitive level like that.
“So much quality, so much organization, so many resources, such good coaches.
“And now [Mauricio] Pochettino and [Andoni] Iraola have arrived.

He will receive further assessment back in England and may even require surgery.

Lee Carsley’s Young Lions take on Israel on Wednesday in the semi-final, having already beaten them 2-0 in their flawless group stage.
