Dream Team’s new transfer process explained: New strategies, greater flexibility and more

DREAM TEAM is back for the 2023/24 season and better than ever!Transfers are the most important element of the game once the action gets underway as they allow you to make changes to your XI as the drama unfolds.
Football is inherently unpredictable and every season features breakout stars, expensive flops, and everything in between.
If one of your players fails to live up to expectations, simply use a transfer to substitute them for a replacement in better form.
This season, we’ve revolutionised the transfer system so whether you’re a new manager or an experienced gaffer, pay attention.

Dream Team’s new transfer process allows for greater flexibilityCredit: DREAM TEAM
In 2022/23, there will be TWO transfers available to you per Gameweek.
If you choose not to make any transfers, which will often be a logical strategy, then one of the transfers will carry over, giving you three the following Gameweek.
If you decide to only use one of your two transfers then you’ll have two transfers available again the following Gameweek.
To clarify, using zero transfers in a Gameweek is the only way to ensure one carries over.
You have the option to carry over transfers until you have four in the bank but that’s the maximum.
No matter how many times you carry over, the most transfers you’ll ever have available at one time is four.
And remember, if you use a transfer at any time, you’ll have two available the following Gameweek because using zero is the only way to ensure a carry over – this can’t be stressed enough.
For example, if you have three or four transfers in the bank and you only use one, you’ll have two available to you the following Gameweek.
More prize winners than every before guaranteed with Dream Team this seasonCredit: DREAM TEAM
All players will be locked out one hour before the first fixture of the Gameweek so make sure you confirm your transfers before the deadline.
Once lockout commences, any transfers made will go through the following Gameweek, regardless of whether or not the players have featured for their respective teams in that Gameweek.
For example, say the first fixture of the Gameweek is Everton v Brighton at 12:30pm on the Saturday – all players will be locked out from 11:30am and any transfers submitted after that deadline won’t go through until the following Gameweek.
You will be able to reverse any transfers made while lockout is in effect.
This means that if you transfer Alexis Mac Allister (£4m) into your team on Monday morning based on an impressive showing from at the weekend, you’ll be able to reverse the transfer if news breaks that the Liverpool midfielder is injured.
In this scenario, reversing the transfer essentially means you get it back and so you’ll still have two available to you for the Gameweek.
Mac Allister’s stock is higher than ever after a fantastic campaign for club and countryCredit: GETTY
When making transfers you will have to work within your budgetary constraints – you won’t be able to swap Callum Wilson (£4.5m) for Erling Haaland (£8.5m) unless you make other transfers that free up the necessary extra cash.
But remember, once variable pricing commences the total value of your team may increase beyond the initial £50million budget – that’s okay, in fact it’s a good thing!
If you’re able to work the Dream Team stock market to your advantage – buying in-form players while they’re cheap and selling out-of-sorts assets before their price plummets – then you’ll have more cash at your disposal to make improvements.
Finally, please be aware that is no limit to the number of transfers you can make before Gameweek 1 gets underway one hour before Burnley v Man City kicks off on August 11th.

I’m a former Premier League referee – I was once left covered in p*** in a portaloo but couldn’t have been happier

FORMER Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg was once left covered in urine after being tipped over in a portaloo. The official, who took charge of the FA Cup, Champions League and Euros finals in 2016, is a passionate Newcastle fan.

He began working his way up the football pyramid and in 1993 he was a teenage assistant referee.
And one trip to St James’ Park that year ended in disaster.
Newcastle’s stadium was being renovated and portaloos were installed while toilets remained out of order.
Clattenburg nipped to the loo during a game and was left to regret his decision, even missing the Toon score via Rob Lee.

He said in his autobiography Whistler Blower: “I need a p***. I’m gonna have to go.
“I squeeze through the mass of black and white shirts and take the steps three at the time down the back of the Gallowgate End.
“There’s a queue for the portable toilet. I’m finally in. Ah, the relief.
“The crowd are getting louder. Newcastle must be back on the attack. There’s the roar, they’ve scored. Get in.

“But wait a second, what the f***? I’m upside down. Someone has tipped the toilet over and there’s no toilet seat.
“I’m drenched and I stink. I would have been better off p***ing myself on the terrace.
“I shove open the door and crawl out. Everyone is bent over laughing. My mates think it’s hilarious. But you know what? I couldn’t be happier.
“I was lying on my side with the contents of this toilet coming towards me. Happy times.”
Clattenburg left the Premier League in 2017 and went on to work in Saudi Arabia, China and Egypt. More

Man Utd legend calls on Ten Hag to snub Hojlund transfer as he names ‘proper number nine’ club should sign instead

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Teddy Sheringham has urged his former club to chase Napoli star Victor Osimhen instead of Atalanta ace Rasmus Hojlund.United manager Erik ten Hag is desperate to sign a centre-forward to spearhead his attack during the summer transfer window and Hojlund is understood to be the favourite choice.

However, talks over the Denmark international’s release clause have hit a snag with Atalanta demanding a whopping £86million and the Red Devils not willing to go over £60m.
The Serie A giants are sticking to their valuation of the striker, who has agreed personal terms with the Manchester giants.
Sheringham insists United should turn their focus away from the 20-year-old, who has four years left on his Atalanta contract and registered only nine goals in 32 league matches last season.
Instead, the former England international insists Ten Hag should go for Osimhen, who finished as top scorer in Italy with 26 goals in 32 games and led Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years.

The 1999 Treble winner, though, admitted Tottenham superstar Harry Kane would be the “ideal solution”.
But a move for Kane is unlikely as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has slapped a £100million fee for the 29-year-old, who turns 30 on Friday, and is not keen to sell to a Premier League rival.
Therefore, the star striker faces three choices as he could either run his contract down until June, sign an extension or accept to be sold with Bayern Munich very interested.
Sheringham told SunSport via Lord Ping: “Manchester United have always brought in top, top quality strikers to help them challenge for the title.

“I really think that Harry Kane would be the ideal solution for Manchester United, but they may have to wait another season to get him.
“If Kane is the player that United really want, then I would wait for him to become available.
“We’ve all read the stories that broke over the weekend about the club selling him this summer unless he signs a new deal, and we also know that Daniel Levy would prefer to sell him outside of the Premier League, but who knows what will happen with Harry Kane this summer.
“If he stays at Tottenham you know that Kane will be professional, focussed and will give you a 100% in every single game. I don’t know what is happening with that situation.
“It seems like for the last few summers, there has been doubts about his future at Tottenham.
“It looks like United may have to look elsewhere for a forward this summer.
“I’m not sure about Hojlund at Atalanta but I do really like Osimhen at Napoli – he looks like he knows where the goal is. He is a proper number nine that leads the line.”

Harry Kane told signing new Tottenham deal this summer would be WORST thing he could do in shock advice from club legend

MANCHESTER UNITED and Tottenham legend Teddy Sheringham has urged Harry Kane not to sign a new deal with Spurs.Kane has one more year left in his contract with the North Londoners and seems uninterested in penning fresh terms as he is instead keen on moving to Bayern Munich.
Tottenham superstar Harry Kane shouldn’t sign a new deal with the clubCredit: Rex
Sheringham agrees with that decision as he insists an extension would be the “worst thing” the England captain could do this summer as that may prolong his trophyless streak.
The former centre-forward claims the 29-year-old, who turns 30 on Friday, is in a “very similar” place he was in 1997 and hinted he should follow in his footsteps that led to United and a Treble triumph.
However, the 57-year-old urged the Tottenham and England record goalscorer to avoid Bayern, who pose as his likeliest destination if he leaves Ange Postecoglou’s side.
The ex-England international claims Kane would be a better fit at Real Madrid as the Bundesliga works best for rising English stars rather than those in their prime.

Sheringham told Lord Ping: “I really don’t know what is going to happen with Harry Kane this summer.
“I assumed that he would stay and see out his contract, but the reports coming out of the club over the weekend have indicated that if he won’t sign a new deal, he will be sold.
“Let’s assume that he stays. There is a chance that Ange Postecoglou could come into the club and excel. If that were to happen and he could convince Kane that his future is at the club, then you wouldn’t be surprised if he signed a new deal at the end of the season.
“I think the worst thing that Harry Kane could do would be to sign a new contract this summer. He could be in a situation where things don’t go to plan with Ange and then he’s in a cycle where he has to wait for a new manager to come in.
    Most read in Football
“If he goes into the season without a new deal, he can watch how everything unfolds. Harry Kane will still be completely focussed on scoring goals for Tottenham and doing his best for the club.
“The dream scenario would be for him to perform well next season and be convinced that his future remains at the club.
“Harry is in a very similar situation to where I was with the club. He will want the best players playing alongside him and he will want to be playing against the best players in the Champions League, obviously that isn’t happening at Tottenham this season.
“I really hope that he stays, but I don’t expect him to make the decision anytime soon.

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham also claims Harry Kane should avoid Bayern MunichCredit: The Sun
“I wouldn’t go to Bayern if I was Harry Kane. I don’t see the German league as that much of an attractive proposition for where Kane is at his age.
“I can understand younger players going over there – we’ve seen players like [Jadon] Sancho and [Jude] Bellingham go there with a clear development plan, but Kane is in a different stage of his career.
“What will Kane get out of joining Bayern? He’ll probably win a title – he’ll have Champions League football. I don’t think that is the move that I would be looking for in my prime.
“I can see the appeal of Real Madrid. If he had the opportunity to go there, with the sexiness of playing for the biggest team in Spain, a team always amongst the Champions League favourites etc. That has much more appeal than Bayern.” More

Tuchel and his squad have flown to Tokyo and will play Manchester City at the Japan National Stadium on Wednesday.
But he said some have not travelled to work on new signings for the season ahead.
He said: “They are doing something it is necessary to do in Europe to support us.”
Tuchel – who is also interested in a move for City’s Kyle Walker – says he will only be thinking about the players he has with him in the Far East.

He added: “The focus is very clear. We focus on the team.

“The transfer period will go on for another five or six weeks. This is just the situation that we live.
“To be very honest, we do not break our heads too often about it. We have enough to push this team as it is.
“This is why we are here, we want to push our limits, we want to improve and if changes happen, they happen.”
Tuchel was also asked about Bayern’s decision not to sign City defender Joao Cancelo after he spent the last part of the season on loan with them.
The Germans had a £60million option to make the move permanent but passed it up – with the coach suggesting he will spend the money elsewhere.
He said: “It was never football reasons (behind his return). He is a fantastic football player.
“It was just that we Alphonso Davies back, full strength from injury and we decided to sign Rapha Guerrero as a free agent.
“So it was a matter of position and a matter of finance. He helped us a lot in the half a year he played for us. He is a fantastic guy and a fantastic footballer. That is why.”
