The Serie A outfit demand a whopping £86million to let the striker go but the Red Devils insist they won’t go over £60m.
However, Atalanta appear to be preparing for life without the Denmark international as they are close to landing Almeria star El Bilal Toure.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the two sides reached an agreement on Monday and Gian Piero Gasperini’s side wants to sign Toure by the end of the day.
The Italians are set to splash a record €28m (£24m), plus €3m (£2.6m) in add-ons for the striker.

The deal will also include a 15 per cent sell-on clause to Almeria with their top scorer from last season signing a long-term contract in Bergamo.
This poses as a major transfer blow for Everton, who held advanced talks with the 21-year-old over the weekend.
United will be hoping that helps their bid to land Holjlund, who is very keen to move to Old Trafford and has agreed personal terms with the club.
This comes after manager Erik ten Hag revealed the Manchester giants are “making progress” amid their search for a new centre-forward.

Ten Hag said: “We’re making progress but we know how it works and when we have him, we will tell you directly.
“The only thing I can say is we’ll do everything in our power to get it done.
“If it was up to me, yeah, as soon as possible, the earlier the better, because we have to integrate him in the team and the way we play.
“In an ideal situation, he was already here. But you do not always get ideal situations as a manager and you have to deal with the situation.” More

I was in pain every single moment of the Premier League last season and almost gave up, says Tottenham star Son

SON HEUNG-MIN has revealed he was in pain every single moment he played last season. The Tottenham star, 31, had a poor campaign by his standards, netting only 14 goals.
Son has opened up about the injury that affected him last seasonCredit: Getty
But that does not tell the full story as a nagging sports hernia problem meant he was in discomfort all the time.
He eventually had surgery in June and now feels “like a new man”.
The South Korean icon said: “I was in pain every single moment, literally.
“It sounds weird but every turn, running, stopping, passing, kicking, it affected everything.

“It was strange because in normal life, doing no exercise, it felt fine so you go on the pitch excited because you didn’t have pain when you were walking.
“As soon as you were on the pitch for a warm-up you would be frustrated because the pain is there, every action, turning, passing, kicking… finally I made the decision at the end of the season to have the surgery and it’s the best decision I ever made.”
Son played a whopping 60 games last season, including four at the World Cup in Qatar.
He was feeling his injury in every game but it was worst in the final Premier League fixture against Leeds, which Spurs won 4-1.

The ex-Bayer Leverkusen man added: “I was really close to giving up against Leeds.

Son spoke at a sustainability upcycling event with local children from Second Chance Bangkok
Spurs stars helped the children to repurpose some of last season’s shirts into new school bags
“But when I looked at the staff I couldn’t say ‘there’s one more game and I’m going to have surgery now’.
“I was just closing my eyes praying, please let’s win this game and luckily we performed last season.”
Son had shared the Premier League golden boot with Liverpool’s Mo Salah the season prior after blasting 23 top-flight goals.
So when his form dropped off due to his injury, fans started questioning whether he had lost his touch.
Yet still Son did not want to reveal the real reason behind his form.
He explained: “I’m the type who is always hiding the pain.
“I really didn’t want it to come out officially that I had an operation.
“Probably people are thinking why didn’t I do the surgery as early as possible but for me it felt like for the club during the season every single moment felt like a difficult moment.
“I didn’t want to let the people down.
“I feel a new man. Last season, the whole season in pain. It was incredible. I can’t even think about the pain, you know. Now I feel really good, fresh.
“The physios are still working on it because it has only been a week, 10 days so I’m looking forward to being in good shape. I’m ready to rock ‘n roll.”
Son, who last season joined the hundred club of players who have reached a ton of Premier League goals, wants to show he is still “the Sonny we all know” this term.
New boss Ange Postecoglou sees the forward as a key figure to his new way forward.
While the Australian even hinted that Son could be captain material.
Postecoglou said: “I know Sonny really well, I’ve known him for a long time. He’s an outstanding player.
“Especially the way I like teams to play with wingers who are a goal threat, he’s elite.
“I’m looking forward to working with him. He’s another one that I think shows real leadership qualities. I look at him and he’s pretty much a conduit for the whole squad.
“He mixes in all groups. I don’t think it’s just because he’s popular. What he’s done in the game he has a certain standing in the game. It’s good to see that influence on the group.

“He’s got a massive influence on the group which doesn’t surprise me because I know he’s a leader for his nation and he’s been an icon for his nation for a long time.
“He carries that really well for someone who has been in the spotlight for that long. He has enormous respect among the players.” More

Essentially, the more engaged you are with Dream Team’s classic fantasy game and the new free-to-play offerings (Score Predictor, Higher or Lower?) the more XP you’ll accumulate, putting you in a more favourable position come the monthly prize draw.
    What are Badges?
Badges will be awarded based on specified actions and achievements within Dream Team’s games – XP points will be awarded for every Badge collected.
It’s easy enough to claim your first Badge, all you have to do is enter your team in Dream Team’s beloved fantasy game – that will earn you 10 XP.
However, some of the Badges require greater skill (and luck): for example, the Creative Force Badge (+50 XP) is only acquired if all your midfielders provide an assist in the same Gameweek.
You can view the requirements for each Badge via the Games Hub.
But don’t restrict yourself to just Dream Team’s improved fantasy game, there are Badges to be won playing Score Predictor and Higher or Lower too!
Dream Team gaffers can now build a trophy collection to rival Pep GuardiolaCredit: THE TIMES
    What are Trophies?
Trophies are virtual rewards given for achievements such as winning a Weekly Leaderboard, topping a Mini League, etc.
While no additional XPs are awarded for trophies, they act as proof of your accomplishments and represent the privilege of bragging rights over your rivals.
Trophies will remain in your profile for future Game Years, even after XP and Levels have been reset, allowing loyal users to rack up an honours list that would make even Pep Guardiola blush.

Premier League introduce major change with new 26-team division and elimination play-off at end of season

THE PREMIER LEAGUE have introduced a big change to their top-tier youth football.Premier League 2 will be expanded into one 26-team division for the 2023-2024 season.
Premier League 2 will be expanded into one 26-team division for the 2023-2024 seasonCredit: Getty
The league will thus move away from the traditional model, which saw 14 teams in Division One and 11 teams in Division Two, with two clubs relegated and two promoted between the groups.
In the new system, 26 teams with Category One academies will be placed in the same division.
Those are Arsenal, Aston Villa, Blackburn, Brighton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Derby, Everton, Fulham, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Norwich, Nottingham Forest, Reading, Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland, Tottenham, West Brom, West Ham and Wolves.
However, they won’t all play each other home and away – instead, they will be placed into five pots determined by their performances in Premier League 2 over the last three seasons.
    Read More on Premier League
And teams will only be able to play another one from their pot once as well as three to five opponents from all the other pots either home or away.
The league table will then rank the clubs from 1st to 26th, with the top 16 qualifying for a single-match elimination play-off round.
The play-offs will be determined by league positions – with first facing last, second playing 15th and so on – with the higher-ranked club playing at home.
The Premier League explained: “The change came about after an extensive review of PDP competitions, which sought to enhance the transition of talented Academy players into senior football, and engaged various stakeholders, including football directors, Academy managers, first-team coaches and Academy players.

“The removal of relegation introduces positive jeopardy; it supports clubs making development-first decisions, and minimises the impact of relegation on future groups of U21 players.
“Also the experience of playoffs will open up to 16 teams rather than the four in Division 2 of previous seasons.
“The new format will also give teams a greater breadth of fixtures, playing 20 different opponents, compared with only 13 in Division 1 and only 10 in Division 2.
“The single division format also provides greater flexibility to add or decrease the number of fixtures in future seasons, dependent on the number of teams in the league, as well as access to additional development opportunities, including matches against senior teams and international opposition.”
The fixtures will be announced on Monday. More
