Man Utd star’s career is OVER after slap in the face from Erik ten Hag, says Dwight Yorke

HARRY MAGUIRE’S Manchester United career is over, according to Dwight Yorke. The former United forward has labelled Erik ten Hag’s decision to strip Maguire of the captaincy a “slap in the face”.

Maguire announced earlier this month that he was no longer the Red Devils’ skipper.
He has since been replaced by Bruno Fernandes, who will wear the armband this coming season.
Ten Hag has claimed that losing the captaincy will benefit Maguire, but Yorke disagrees.
He told OLBG: “When captaincy is taken off of you, it probably means your time is up at the club.

“Harry Maguire is a high-profile player, to be stripped of the captaincy of your everyday team is a slap in the face.
“It will diminish his ego and make him feel upset. I don’t see any comeback when that happens.
“I’ve been in football long enough for that to mean that your time is up. Maguire doesn’t have the authority he once had, players see through that and will undermine him.
“They won’t disrespect Maguire, don’t get me wrong, but players won’t see him in the same light when he was the main figure on and off the pitch.

“It’s one of those things that don’t usually happen, but when you’re that high-profile of a player, it can happen.”
Maguire has been linked with a move away from United this summer as he looks for regular football.
The 30-year-old is keen to play more frequently in a bid to cement his place in England’s squad for next year’s Euros.

Having made just 16 starts under Ten Hag last term, he is unlikely to be a key player this season.

Man Utd furious at Wrexham after boss Phil Parkinson’s raging reaction to Nathan Bishop following Paul Mullin injury

MANCHESTER UNITED are furious with Wrexham following Phil Parkinson’s raging attack on Nathan Bishop. The Red Dragons’ manager unleashed a tirade after the 23-year-old goalkeeper collided with Paul Mullin early in their pre-season clash in San Diego.

Mullin suffered a punctured lung and had to be rushed to hospital on oxygen, just 11 days before the Welsh side begin their League Two campaign.
Bishop was booked then booed by Wrexham fans in California and was subbed off at half-time.
But afterwards, a livid Parkinson escalated the situation as he piled in on Bishop.
United believe the foul by their young stopper was an honest mistake.

He tried to apologise to Mullin through Wrexham staff and then posted a message on Twitter.
But the Red Devils are now fearful Parkinson’s comments will trigger social media abuse for Bishop – especially if Mullin misses a significant chunk of the season.
Parkinson said: “I’m fuming about it, I’ve got to be honest with you. It was a clumsy, reckless, challenge in a pre-season game and I’m not happy with it at all. I haven’t seen the goalie and he’s probably best steering clear of us for the time being because we’re not very happy.
“It should have been a straight red. If it’s not denying a goal-scoring opportunity it’s still a dangerous challenge so if you add the two scenarios together he should have been off the pitch.

“It’s a dangerous challenge and obviously Paul Mullin is our talisman. The way the lads responded after that I thought was outstanding. That’s what we’re all about as a group – resilience, sticking together.”
United Under-21s manager Travis Binnion tried to defend Bishop for the challenge.
Binnion said: “It’s part and parcel of the game, nobody wants to see anyone get injured. He’s made an honest challenge, he’s come off worse. He’s already reached out to him.
“Booing him, it is what it is. He’s tried to reach out. He’s a great lad Bish, he hasn’t got a bad bone in his body.”
Mullin updated fans with a thumbs-up selfie and a positive message from hospital, writing: “Thanks for all your messages! All good here!”
Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds later praised his No10, adding: “Paul Mullin puts his last drop of blood into everything he does. The entire Wrexham community is pulling for a speedy recovery.”
It was a torrid evening for United’s youngsters as Dan Gore was sent off for a studs-up slide tackle in the 3-1 defeat to the Red Dragons.

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag dealt fresh striker headache as Marcus Rashford insists he is NOT the answer

ERIK TEN HAG’S desperate striker hunt rumbles on as Marcus Rashford admitted: I’m NOT the answer.Boss Ten Hag has still not signed the No 9 he needs — just 19 days before Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Wolves.

Atalanta are demanding £86million for Rasmus Hojlund, who hit ten goals in 34 matches for the Serie A side last season.
The Dane, 20, is understood to be keen on a move but United have so far refused to offer more than £60m.
And Ten Hag looks unlikely to move for his top target Harry Kane after being told the Tottenham striker wants £30m a year — equivalent to £577,000 a week.
Frenchman Anthony Martial has just returned to training from his latest injury, while Rashford appears an obvious solution to Ten Hag’s problem position.

But Rashford, who last week signed a new £325,000-a-week contract until 2028, warned the Dutchman he does not fancy the job full time.
He told The Overlap podcast: “I feel like at centre-forward you’ve got less distance to cover to score simple goals, I do prefer left-wing.
“Left is just easier to stay in the game and from when I was young I’ve always wanted to be involved in the game.
“That’s why I struggle when playing at centre-forward sometimes because of my patience.

“You might not touch the ball for 20 minutes and then your first touch might be an opportunity to score. You have to be mentally switched on.”
Wout Weghorst was signed on loan from Burnley to fill the void up front last season while Martial also played when fit.
But the Frenchman missed 28 games with SIX different injuries.
And ex-Ajax chief Ten Hag has told Martial, 27, he must “take responsibility” to be available more often.
Ahead of facing Wrexham in San Diego early on Wednesday morning, Ten Hag said: “When you have a player in your squad you have to expect he is available and players have to take responsibility.
“If not, I have to deal with the situation and we have shown we can be successful without. But it’s easier when you have that striker in the team to win trophies.”
Martial netted just nine goals last season in 29 appearances having been farmed out on an unsuccessful loan to Sevilla in 2021-22 — scoring just once in 12 games.
But Ten Hag believes United were always better with him in the side.
He added: “We need a good squad and Anthony Martial is a brilliant football player so he will help us score goals.
“There are other areas like pressing and combinations, he’s just a great player, we hope he’s fit and stays fit.”
More goals is what United desperately crave after finishing with the lowest-scoring haul in the Premier League’s top six last season — just 58.
Top-scorer Rashford got a career-best tally of 30 in all competitions.
Taskmaster Ten Hag did have some criticism for the England international during the campaign about him not being switched on for the full 90 minutes of a game.
That is something he believes needs to be addressed so he can match — and even surpass — those 30 goals.
Ten Hag said: “When his attitude is right then he will do that.

“When the team is playing well, when we keep the rules and principles and Rashford puts himself in the right positions, he will finish.

Yet while West Ham have avoided punishment, Alkmaar have been handed a suspended one-game stadium ban along with nearly £69,000 in fines.
The stadium ban will be activated if there is any more trouble at their ground in the next two years while they were fined £43,000 for the attack on the West Ham section.
Alkmaar have also been fined £12,900 for the lighting of fireworks, £6,900 for supporters blocking public passageways and £6,000 for the throwing of objects, .
The trouble erupted after David Moyes’ team won 1-0 on the night to knock out Alkmaar 3-1 on aggregate.

While stewards and security were on the scene, Hammers players including Lucas Paqueta, Said Benrahma, Declan Rice, Angelo Ogbonna, Aaron Cresswell, Jarrod Bowen and Flynn Downes were all involved in the chaos.
West Ham won the competition by beating Fiorentina 2-1 in the final in Prague.
Bowen’s 90th-minute winner saw the London club bring home their first piece major silverware since 1980.
There were fines handed out to West Ham fans from that game after missiles were thrown onto the pitch which left Cristiano Biraghi with a bleeding head.

Uefa also slapped West Ham fans with a ban going into next season’s opening Europa League away fixture.
However, the Hammers faithful were left unhappy at the level of punishment dished out by Uefa to Alkmaar.
One fan wrote: “Considering our bans, embarrassing punishment.”
A second said: “I’m sorry how have they literally attacked the families of the players and have got away with a minimal fine?”
Another remarked: “That’s not even a slap on the wrist.”
A fourth declared: “If an English team did that we’d be banned for multiple years. The double standard is crazy.” More
