Furious Andre Onana berates Harry Maguire as Man Utd defender’s error almost leads to another goal for Borussia Dortmund

ANDRE Onana LOST IT when Harry Maguire’s botched clearance nearly cost Manchester United another goal in Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund. The £47million goalkeeper screamed at the center-half not long after coming on the field in the second half.

Individual errors cost Erik ten Hag’s men twice in the first 45 minutes, leading to two quick goals from Donyell Malen that gave Dortmund a 2-1 halftime lead.
First, Brandon Williams’ diving challenge let Karim Adeyemi move past the English full-back with ease and then assist on Malen’s equaliser.
Shortly after, Victor Lindelof gave the ball away just outside of the box and the ex-Arsenal starlet beat Tom Heaton again, striking twice in two minutes.
Onana watched both errors from the bench before replacing Heaton at halftime.

And he seemingly had little patience for blunders as he came on, which showed when Maguire’s ill-conceived pass allowed Dortmund to take the ball away from Christian Eriksen and launch a counterattack.
Julian Brandt immediately found Sebastien Haller in the box before Onana saved the German striker’s shot with a great save.
The ball fell under Adeyemi’s legs, but the 21-year-old winger fired wide it wide.
Onana wasn’t relieved though as he immediately approached Maguire, screaming and gesticulating angrily to reprimand the Englishman for the risky play.

And United fans took note of the interaction on social media.
One wrote: “Onana just arrived and he can’t take Harry Maguire anymore.”
Another tweeted: “Onana screaming at Harry Maguire… I’m not even gonna lie, this was epic!”
A third added: “Onana is not happy with Maguire there.”
And one said: “The way Onana charged at Maguire was so funny. Even Maguire was shocked.”
Antony kept Man Utd’s comeback hopes alive, finding the net with a cheeky shot in the 52nd minute.
But United tripped up again about 20 minutes later with Dortmund intercepting a poor pass from Aaron Wan-Bissaka before Youssoufa Moukoko settled the score. More

Man Utd 2 Borussia Dortmund 3: Red Devils lose their heads again and end preseason tour of US with another defeat

MANCHESTER UNITED LOST their heads and another game on their US Tour in heated scenes in the desert. In a crazy first-half teenage prospect, Omari Forson was hauled off by an angry Erik ten Hag for getting in a scuffle with Karim Adeyemi.

Then when Donyell Malen scored his second goal inside a minute to put Borussia Dortmund ahead Brandon Williams ended up in a ‘four letter’ heated exchange with goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
It didn’t end there with Harry Maguire getting the verbals from new goalkeeper Andre Onana in the second half as well.
It had started so well too with Diogo Dalot curling a cracking opener home from 20 yards after being neatly teed up by Donny van de Beek on 24 minutes.
But shortly afterwards 19-year-old winger Forson, who had started the game so well, got involved in a tussle.

He first tried to tackle Adeyemi, then kicked out at Julian Ryerson.
He was furious, turning on Forson and Adeyemi then got straight involved as the two players pushed their foreheads against each other.
Forson also swung an arm. Both players were booked and Ten Hag immediately told Antony to warm up.
Minutes later Forson was hauled off and Ten Hag spoke to him for a minute with his finger pointed out to the field telling him exactly why he was being brought off.

The player looked visibly upset before Ten Hag patted him on the head as he headed to the dug out.
Dortmund were level on 43 minutes when a great turn and run by Adeyemi opened United up the and when the ball was forced to Malen he executed a fine scissor kick finish.
Straight from the restart it was two.
Heaton played Victor Lindelof into trouble and he gave the ball away allowing Malen to add his second.
He was in so much space because Williams had been slow in coming out and played him offside.
But as the United veteran goalkeeper made that point Williams turned round and appearing to shout ‘it was your fuck up’.
Onana turned on Maguire for his positioning that allowed Dortmund another chance on a shambolic night of defending from the Red Devils.
It was at least all smiles on 52 minutes when Antony fired United level with a low curling finish into the far bottom corner.
Just past hour Ten Hag made eight changes and two of those linked up for what should have seen United taking the lead.
Marcus Rashford broke down the left and squared but Aaron Wan Bissaka launched a shot high and wide.
It got worse for the right full-back when in the 71st minute he gave possession away and slick passing from Dortmund ended with Youssoufa Moukoko turning the ball in from close range for what proved to be the winner.

Marcus Rashford opens up on how Erik ten Hag saved his career as England star reveals he came close to quitting Man Utd

MARCUS RASHFORD says Erik ten Hag saved his Manchester United career after he thought about leaving the club. The England striker, 25, enjoyed a personal best 30 goals in all competitions last season with the Red Devils’ new boss.

That came a year after he scored just five in a struggling team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then interim coach Ralf Rangnick.
Mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain wanted the hitman — but the proud Manc saw Ten Hag could help him achieve his ambitions at his boyhood club.
Asked if he considered quitting, Rashford said: “Before the manager came maybe a bit. He came at the right time for me.
“He is ambitious. I didn’t have a doubt in my mind about that.”

Just 12 months on, Rashford is happy again and fresh off signing a new five-year deal with the club.
And he admits it was boss Ten Hag who convinced him to stay this summer and lead the drive for more trophies — and to join Manchester City and Arsenal in the title race.
Rashford, 25, added: “I enjoy scoring goals, I enjoy making assists, playing in the forward areas and trying to cause a threat to the other team.
“I felt just a little bit more freedom.

“A little bit more stability gives you the baseline to try and showcase your abilities.
“We were just a little bit rigid in the past, sometimes you’re not enjoying your football.
“And that was the case with me. I wasn’t enjoying my football as much as I should be, as much I was used to enjoying it.
“Because of that, it influenced my performance and ultimately that’s how I am as a person — if I’m not happy then it’s difficult for me to play my best football.”
Ten Hag has meticulously designed the training schedule for the pre-season tour here in the United States.
There is a club chef travelling with the team to make sure they eat right and no phones are allowed as players, coaches and staff dine together.
Stars get messages to tell them what kit to wear the next day and Ten Hag has even been involved in picking hotels for the squad.
“If I’m not happy then it’s difficult for me to play my best football.”Marcus Rashford
Rashford said: “He always wants you to improve, whether it’s physically or mentally.
“For us as players, it’s important he works on both sides with us and if  he sees an obvious place to make improvement then he doesn’t shy away from telling it.
“I’m hungry to keep improving and the players and staff keep improving and pushing ourselves to be better than we were the year before.
“Ultimately that’s the only way we’re going to get back to winning trophies consistently.”
Rashford added to his 30 club goals last season with three during the World Cup for England — and now he wants to take things to another level.
He said: “It’s always the purpose of your career, you want to keep improving, sometimes it’s not always statistically but if you can improve your performance you will take it any way you can.

“You have to be consistent with it. It’s important I get consistent opportunities, it’s up to me to take it on. I have to keep getting in the right areas and hopefully the goals keep coming.”
Dutchman Ten Hag was always convinced he could get the best out of Rashford but insisted the player needed to have the ‘right attitude’ and be fully switched on from the first moment of games to the last.
Rashford said: “It’s concentration. If I’ve got the concentration, sometimes you might not have a chance all game and you get that one chance and you have to take it.
“If I can stay focused on that, then I think I can definitely score more goals than I did last season. But I have to be in the goalscoring positions to get the chances, that’s the main focus.”
For a United fan, it was tough for Rashford to see City win the Treble  but he does not believe that 15-point gap they had on them last season in the Prem should be insurmountable as the Red Devils search for a first title since 2013.
“You’re looking at a 15-point gap to the top of the league We can easily pick off five games where we dropped three points, it’s about correcting the mistakes.”Marcus Rashford, on catching Man City
He said: “I think consistency is the key. We’ve shown in one-off games we can beat them, they’ve shown they can beat us. It’s the consistency that sets them apart.
“I think the average points to win the league at the minute is 96. It’s a huge difference to what it was a few years ago, when 86 to 90 points could potentially win you the league.
“They’ve shown a new level of consistency and it’s up to the rest of us to  close that gap.
“You’re looking at a 15-point gap to the top of the league We can easily pick off five games where we dropped three points, it’s about correcting the mistakes.”
And for homegrown hero Rashford, that feeling of  scoring for Manchester United again next season is something he cannot wait for.
    Read More on The Sun
He said: “I don’t think the feeling ever gets old. You just want it more and more each time you score. It doesn’t get boring.”
It is fair to say football is making Rashford happy again. More

Dad Pep has set high standards after managing Manchester City to the Treble and their third successive Premier League title last season.
And in her own field of social media influence Maria’s achievements are soaring too.
The model, 22, is regularly called her father’s “best creation” along with seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.
This time, as she posed in a black dress for dinner out in Turkey, the closest line was: “Pep just knows how to make beautiful things really.”

In recent weeks Maria has impressed fans with a loose-fitting outfit around the Pyramids in Greece and a lacy dress in Costa Brava, Spain.

Not once in the eight pictures did she look in the camera – mainly opting for side-on shots.

Liverpool 4 Leicester 0: Darwin Nunez hits blistering form in time for campaign as incredible pre-season stat emerges

DARWIN NUNEZ gave Jurgen Klopp more reason to believe he is about to start re-paying his £85million fee.The striker spent most of last season struggling to live up to the hype of his record arrival from Benfica.

He managed 15 goals in 42 appearances – not a terrible record – but still spent plenty of time looking stressed out as he tried to fit in.
Now the 24-year-old is beginning to look right at home.
His opener against Leicester in what became a 4-0 cruise was merely a tap-in after goalkeeper Mads Hermansen had parried a shot from Diogo Jota.
Yet it was his fourth goal in three 45-minute appearances that also include a 4-2 win over Karlsruher and the 4-4 clash with Furth before Liverpool left their German training camp for their latest warm–up in Singapore.

What’s more, he maintained his 100 per cent record of hitting the target with every effort on goal while also adding an assist.
Klopp, before once again making wholesale changes at half-time as he had done in each of his side’s previous two friendlies, will also have been delighted by the growing influence of Alexis Mac Allister.
It was his vision and touch that enabled Jota to get his shot away at the start of an eight-minute burst that blew away Enzo Maresca’s Foxes.
The £35m Argentine World Cup winner was brought in from Brighton this summer to provide exactly the kind of precision and intelligence he displayed in finding Jota.

The attacking midfielder, unlike Nunez, looks to have settled in immediately and promises to add a new dimension to Klopp’s side.
Liverpool struggled to contain their opponents for much of the first half-hour in Singapore’s national stadium which was barely half-full.
Maresca may be keen for comparisons with Pep Guardiola to be dropped, having last season won the Treble alongside him as his assistant manager.
But for a third of this clash Leicester played very much within the Manchester City blue-print of possession football and forced five corners in the first 23 minutes.

Kop No 2 ‘keeper Caoimhin Kelleher also made a fine one–on–block to deny Wilfred Ndidi.
Klopp’s men, with Trent Alexander-Arnold again featuring in his new hybrid role of right back and holding midfielder, stepped on the gas following Nunez’ strike.
Mo Salah set up 18-year-old midfield prospect Bobby Clark to smack home a 22-yard shot before Jota headed in from the Egyptian star’s cross.
Ben Doak added to the sense that he is a superstar in the making with another promising display.
The diminutive Scottish right winger, 17, even rounded off the scoring in Klopp’s second-half team…with a clever header. More

I’m an iconic Premier League manager… my wife is a witch and my dad’s ghost haunted my car with Mariah Carey songs

IAN HOLLOWAY has claimed he had a ghostly encounter which caused him to think his late father visited him from beyond the grave. The former Blackpool and Crystal Palace manager insists that his dad would mess with his car by “moving the dials” and playing songs by Mariah Carey.

Holloway, 60, says that the incident with his old man Bill happened during his playing days when he was at QPR in the 1990s.
He told the Life Lessons podcast: “My dad was an old-fashioned sort of, ‘Oh yeah, I don’t know if you pass you go somewhere else,’ or what have you. ‘I don’t believe in any of that, when your time’s up, your time’s up.’
“They actually resuscitated him three times, he was having massive heart attacks and they brought him back. And every time he came back they’d allow us back round his bed to see him.
“And on two out of the three occasions he said, ‘What are you doing? I was going to the light. I don’t need to be here. I’ve got to go, it’s my time to go.’ Honestly, and that’s so unlike him.

“So I still have to drive up and down to QPR, you know, I wanted to try and better myself, and unfortunately being from Bristol, and our clubs not getting to the level I wanted them to, I had to leave my home town and drive however far up to London to play in the top flight.
“I had this digital music player in my car. I looked at it, and there was something on the steering wheel but I didn’t touch it because my hands were nowhere near it, and the light that came in the car – it totally filled the car up.
“And I looked outside and it was sunny outside, so I thought, ‘That’s weird.’ And then Mariah Carey and the song [One Sweet Day] was on and ‘shining down on me from Heaven’ got louder and louder and louder until it was completely top notch.”
Holloway revealed that he was left “shaking” and believing that it was his dad sending him a message from the other side.

“I saw it go from 10 up to about 35 and it was deafening. And the minute the song finished that went right back down to normal.
“And I was looking at myself going, ‘Oh my…’ I was shaking. I thought, ‘Has that really happened or what? Or is that me wishing that?’ Do you get what I mean? And I swear he came and showed me that, ‘Don’t worry son, you’ll be fine.’ Right?
“Now, I would never have believed that, I wouldn’t have thought for one minute that he would have ever have done that because he said it was all a load of garbage.
“So the truth is, I don’t know. And did I feel it? Did I want to feel it? Was it really there? I cannot honestly tell you. But I swear to you, I saw the dial move on its own.”
The former Premier League boss also claimed that his white witch wife Kim was also visited by his dad in her dreams.
He also admitted that he was again visited by his dad on the day that he died while driving to a match.

He added: “I left the night he died. I couldn’t stand his long drawn-out breath, they call it the death rattle. It’s awful and anyone who’s lost someone they love, it’s absolutely horrendous. You’re waiting for them to take their last breath.
“I had to go. It was half seven in the morning. We’d been there all night and I was playing that very night. So I went home, laid down, tried to have a sleep. My family came in and told me he’d passed, then I had a sleep, then I got up and drove to the game.
“And as I was driving, I swear to you, I felt all weird again, you know, and I looked and I swear, there was an indentation in the seat – it looked like his ass was sat on the seat.

“And that day I played, right? I told [manager] Gerry [Francis] what happened. My team-mates didn’t know. And we won, I think it was 4-0, and I score and I completely broke down after the game, completely and utterly.
“And Gerry, he never told you ‘well done’ normally, but he actually said how proud he was of me and he told the lads that my dad Bill had passed away. But I swear to you, everything was going wrong for me in my life, but I felt he was in my boots that day.” More
