Even despite Ramsdale’s stunning display Arsenal are still locked in talks with Brentford over a deal for the Spanish goalkeeper.
Despite having their £23million opening bid rejected, negotiations are advancing with Raya into the final year of his contract.
He is understood to have already agreed personal terms as Arsenal prepare to replace back-up shot-stopper Matt Turner- who is on the verge of signing for Nottingham Forest – with him.
Raya is set to head to the Emirates Stadium to provide direct competition to Ramsdale.

“So we better feel like this and make sure that we all feel like this, me first.”
The Bees are understood to want to double the £23million offer that was recently turned down.

The West Londoners have already landed Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, Robert Sanchez and Lesley Ugochukwu, which has already cost them in the region of £171m.
According to The Mail, Chelsea are now keeping tabs on Leeds’ Tyler Adams, Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic and of course Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, who remains a top target.
Adams is expected to be the first deal to be completed in the coming days.
The midfielder has a release clause around £20m after the Whites’ relegation to the Championship.

Caicedo, on the other hand, will cost a staggering £105m to prise away from the South Coast but the Ecuador international wants to move to Stamford Bridge.
However, the Seagulls expect to have the midfielder available for their first Premier League game of the season on August 12 against Luton.

Palace are not keen to do business with Pochettino’s side for Olise after a rather inactive transfer window at Selhurst Park.
But the club has agreed personal terms with the France Under-21 international.

The winger is also targeted by Manchester City and will cost a fee in the region of £35m.
However, Chelsea may have an advantage as the Eagles are keen on one of their left-backs Lewis Hall, whom they want to sign on loan.
And the Argentine tactician needs a new striker to spearhead his attack.
Vlahovic appears like the likeliest candidate and could cost £40m this summer.
A deal for the Serbia international may also see wantaway centre-forward Romelu Lukaku going the other way to Juve.

Sports psychologist spots Arsenal’s genius penalty plan that helped Mikel Arteta’s side down Man City at Wembley

City looked ready to add the Community Shield to their trophy case when Cole Palmer opened the scoring on 77 minutes.
But the North Londoners levelled things up in the most dramatic way as Leandro Trossard hit the target in the 11th minute of stoppage time.
The match went straight to penalties where Mikel Arteta’s men were faultless as Matin Odegaard, Trossard, Bukayo Saka and eventually Fabio Vieira all hit the back of the net.
And sports psychologist Geir Jordet noticed that each penalty taker was using the same tactic as they stopped for over five seconds after the referee blew his whistle.

Jordet tweeted: “Rare to see a team approach penalties so deliberately, controlled and composed as Arsenal did in the Community Shield today.
“Every player paused >5 seconds after the whistle. This never guarantees success, but it suggests a collective plan to ACTIVELY control oneself under stress.”
This comes as no surprise as Arteta revealed after the match that his team worked on penalty shoot-outs during pre-season.
The Spanish tactician foresaw that potential outcome ahead of their Wembley clash with City and wanted his players to be fully prepared.

Arteta said: “We’ve done it [taken part in a shootout] three times in pre-season.
“It was part of the plan to get ready just in case we had to do it today, that it wasn’t the first time to do that, and I think that it paid off.”
This was Arsenal’s first trophy since 2020 after a season that saw them just missing out on their first Premier League title since 2004’s Invincibles’ campaign. More

The same sources claimed the Saudi Pro League champions are willing to splash £60million and pay the winger a whopping £155m in wages over a two-year deal.
However, the Egypt international’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa has poured cold water on those rumours.
The 31-year-old’s rep insists they would have never agreed to sign a new deal with Liverpool last year if they knew they wanted to leave this summer.
Issa tweeted: “If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer.

West Ham reach agreement for £35m international to replace Declan Rice in FIRST transfer of the summer

Mexican international midfielder Alvarez, 25, is seen as a direct replacement for Rice – and is expected to fly to London in the next 24 hours to complete his medical.
West Ham saw an opening £30m bid rejected for the player, but have now settled on a fee which includes add-ons and a sell-on clause on a five-year deal.
Alvarez – who had two years left on his contract with the Dutch giants – only landed back in Amsterdam on Monday morning from his summer holiday in Mexico, but is ready to get the switch completed as soon as possible.
West Ham are confident Alvarez will be available to face Bournemouth in their Premier League opener on Saturday should there be no issues with his medical in East London.

Alvarez was on the verge of joining Chelsea last summer for around £42m only for the move fall through with Ajax unable to find a replacement.
It is understood owner David Sullivan has taken a hands-on approach following West Ham’s struggles to get several deals over the line during the window.
West Ham have so far failed in moves for James Ward-Prowse, Joao Palhinha, Harvey Barnes, Harry Maguire, Conor Gallagher, Scott McTominay and Carlos Borges.
There has been reported tension between boss David Moyes and new technical director Tim Steidten; the former wanting established British players and the latter eyeing up young European talents.

However, Alvarez appears to be a transfer that pleases all parties – with Moyes hopeful this will kick-start a late surge before their clash with the Cherries.
West Ham are still on the look-out for midfielders, and are considering making a fourth offer for Southampton’s Ward-Prowse.
The Saints are holding out for close to £40m for the 28-year-old, while Manchester United’s McTominay is also an option for Moyes, despite Steidten’s reservations.
West Ham are expected to need another forward as well with Gianluca Scamacca on the verge of returning to Italy with Atalanta in a deal worth up to £27m including add-ons.
Scamacca, 24, arrived at West Ham last summer for £30.5m from Sassuolo but scored just three Prem goals in 16 appearances.
Should Scamacca depart, Moyes will have just Michail Antonio and 18-year-old Divin Mubama has options to lead the line.
