Sturridge has joined the Sky punditry team for the new Premier League campaign.
And as well as his expert analysis and fresh take on the game, he also delivered the goods with his superb vocals.
Towards the end of the live show from Stamford Bridge, presenter Dave Jones joked Sturridge had got away without having to do an initiation song.
Jones asked the former England forward what song he would have chosen but as he mulled over his answer, Micah Richards suggested Usher’s Nice & Slow banger.

And instantaneously Sturridge burst into a staggering rendition of the 1997 tune.
The new pundit sang in a surprisingly soulful voice: “It’s seven o’clock on the dot, I’m in my drop top, cruising the streets.”
He even clicked along before tapping a laughing Richards and telling him: “You know the vibe.”
Keane, unsurprisingly, remained motionless throughout the cameo sing-song before Sturridge moved over and asked: “Do you like that Roy?”

The no-nonsense Irishman replied deadpan: “Very nice,” before breaking into a smile as the others burst into more laughter.
Jones admitted it took him completely by surprise and beamed: “I did not expect that. That was sensational. Wow. Roy will do his next week.”
But the viewers watching it unfold at home were left in stitches and flooded Twitter with hilarious responses.
One said: “Daniel Sturridge is going to break Roy Keane.”
Another wrote: “How long before Roy Keane murders Daniel Sturridge?
A third added: “Decent little voice on him to be fair.”
And a final user commented: “Keano is gonna quit his job bro.”
Sturridge also prompted incredible reactions from Keane when he told Trent Alexander-Arnold: “Keep it funky with ya boy.”

Unimpressed Roy Keane tells Mo Salah to ‘sit down and shut up’ after Liverpool star throws Super Sunday tantrum

ROY KEANE ripped into Mo Salah after the Liverpool star threw a tantrum for being subbed off against Chelsea. Salah was replaced by Harvey Elliot on 77 minutes with the game levelled at 1-1.
Roy Keane ripped into Mo Salah after the Liverpool star threw a tantrum
But the forward was evidently unhappy as he tore off his protective tape and threw it on the floor in a rage at Jurgen Klopp.
The Egyptian stormed past his boss straight onto the bench and sat there seething.
It drew a critical response from Manchester United legend Keane.
He said on Sky Sports: “It’s OK to be upset but don’t keep it going too long.

“He was shaking his head and sitting on the bench with his arms in the air.
“Sit down and shut up. You have to take.”
Salah assisted Luis Diaz’s for Liverpool’s opener but he was denied a goal due to VAR.
And after he was taken off, it ended his run of six successive years scoring on the opening day of the Premier League.

New Chelsea defender Axel Disasi equalised before half time and Chilwell also had a goal chalked off by VAR.
But Salah was denied the chance to haunt his old side after being taken off by his manager.
Klopp said: “I can understand because if Mo scored it would have been a new record for goals scored in the opening game but I didn’t think about that.
“We needed stability and we needed fresh legs. It was super intense for everybody. That’s all I can say about it, his reaction was absolutely okay.
“When I sub a player and he is jumping in to my arms at 1-1 and he is a striker who thinks he will score, I would be really surprised so that’s absolutely fine.”

Following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea, defender Trent Alexander-Arnold joined the crew for a live interview.
But insightful Sturridge – who will certainly bring a fresh angle on Sky this season – risked the wrath of no-nonsense Keane.
The ex-Chelsea and Liverpool striker told Alexander-Arnold: “Keep it funky with ya boy,” before going on to address the Reds midfield.
But as the England right-back burst into laughter, the camera stayed fixed on Keane, whose face was absolutely hilarious.

The former Manchester United captain remained motionless, staring out blankly into the distance.
Keane, 52, then blinked and looked into the ground, almost recognising he simply had to accept it before appearing to resist a smile.
But while the Irishman managed to keep his reaction under wraps, fans on social media let rip with some phenomenal responses to match Keane’s own reaction.
One said: “Sturridge is gonna make Roy quit – man said keep it funky.”

Another wrote: “Roy’s face when Studgey said ‘keep it funky wit your boy’ LOOOOOOL.”
A third added: “Sturridge saying ‘keep it funky with me boy’ in front of Roy Keane is so wild.”
A fourth typed: “Keano looks like he’s gonna swing at Sturridge.”
A fifth commented: “Roy questioning everything in life that led him to this moment.”
And a final user joked: “Won’t be long till Keane resigns from his position.”
Sturridge later tried to win Keane back over by suggesting he was an “absolute terror of a midfielder” and would be worth £150million if he was playing football in the current era.
Keane, who was once the record British transfer when he joined United for £3.75m in 1993, insisted he should be valued higher than the £100m-plus-rated midfielders such as Declan Rice, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
But Sturridge undid his hard work with his new colleague by impersonating Keane’s sensational “big baby” rant then patting him on the shoulder – prompting Keane to look at presenter Dave Jones and roll his eyes.
And to top it all off, Sturridge burst into singing Usher’s song Nice & Slow with Keane again left utterly bemused.
Although this time he reluctantly admitted it was “very nice” and allowed a smile.

Earlier in the programme, Richards rinsed Keane for his packed lunch while the straight-talking pundit in turn tore into Reece James for his defending that allowed Luis Diaz to open the scoring.

We got a glimpse of it last weekend in the Community Shield when Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was shown a yellow card on the touchline for demanding that Manchester City’s Rodri get booked.
New rules for this season will see officials come down hard on such behaviour from both players and managers.
And a host of stars have found themselves receiving a caution throughout the opening weekend for similar antics and dissent.
Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson were two of the latest to get booked for gesturing for cards during the 1-1 draw between their respective clubs today.

United begin their campaign with a home clash against Wolves on Monday.

After zooming in on Keane’s homemade grub, Richards then added: “What is this nonsense?”
The hilarious moment comes after Man Utd released a clip earlier this week announcing their new kit – with Keane front and centre.
In the video, he can be seen looking at a tray of prawn sandwiches.
This is in reference to his rant after a Champions League fixture against Dynamo Kyiv in 2000 in which he suggested the club’s home fans were not as passionate as the away support.

This has led to football fans in the hospitality section being labelled the “prawn sandwich brigade”.

But £72million forward Rasmus Hojlund will not feature as he has been ruled out with a back injury.

Roy Keane fumes at Reece James for defending vs Liverpool and says ‘he might as well have a cup of tea’

ROY KEANE put his admiration for Reece James aside to criticise the Chelsea captain for Liverpool’s opening goal. The points were ultimately shared at Stamford Bridge but Luis Diaz put the visitors ahead on 18 minutes.
Roy Keane was critical of Reece James
Reece James’ defending came under fire
Liverpool hit the hosts on the counter and Mo Salah’s brilliant cross field ball was finished off by Diaz.
But Manchester United legend Keane believed James should have tracked the goalscorer and made more of an effort to intercept.
He said on Sky Sports: “James is looking at him running off him. He’ll argue afterwards saying, ‘Oh, I’m a wing-back and that’s not my job.’
“But he sees him running and you have to sprint back like your life depends on it.

Chelsea ratings: Debutant Disasi impresses in Liverpool draw as Gallagher’s struggle shows need for Caicedo transfer

CHELSEA began life under Mauricio Pochettino with a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.Luis Diaz opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing from close range after being picked out brilliantly by Mo Salah.

Salah then thought he had doubled Liverpool’s lead, before VAR ruled the goal out for a tight offside call.
Chelsea levelled eight minutes before half-time as Axel Disasi found the back of the net on his debut for the club, but Ben Chilwell’s strike was then ruled out following another offside check.
And the game ended all square as the points were shared on the Premier League’s opening weekend.
Here is how SunSport’s Dylan Terry saw the performances of the Chelsea players.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
    Robert Sanchez – 6
Could not do anything to prevent Diaz from sliding Liverpool in front from close range.
Did very little wrong during the 90 minutes. A solid debut for the Spaniard.
    Axel Disasi – 8
His performance will be remembered for a crucial debut goal that came just as the Stamford Bridge crowd was growing frustrated.
Defensively found it difficult in the opening stages but grew into the game and looked assured as the match wore on.

It was clear as day that he was the most experienced Chelsea centre-back on the pitch as he organised Disasi and the struggling Colwill early on.

A very solid performance from the evergreen Brazilian who turns 39 next month.
    Levi Colwill – 5
Looked exposed whenever Liverpool came forward as he failed to deal with Salah’s movement and speed.
Had no help from Chilwell, but will need to improve in one-on-one duels if Pochettino is going to persist with a back three.
Appeared to be a little more composed in the second half as Chelsea grew into the game.

Levi Colwill slotted into the left side of the Blues defence
    Reece James – 7
All the joy Chelsea received early on came through James and Sterling down the right.
But then the new Blues captain was caught napping as he failed to track Diaz who tucked home the opener.
Recovered well in the second half and looked threatening as Diaz and Robertson were forced back.
    Enzo Fernandez – 7
Linked up brilliantly with Sterling before seeing his effort saved by Alisson in the first half.
Playing further forward than last year, he showed his quality with a number of superb passes.
Will almost certainly be Chelsea’s most important player this season.
World Cup star Enzo Fernandez was Chelsea’s best player
    Conor Gallagher – 5
Was given the role of shielding Chelsea’s back three as Fernandez and Chukwuemeka pushed higher up the pitch, but looked exposed a number of times.
Struggled to deal with Liverpool’s front three dropping in between the lines, as well as forward runs from Szoboszlai and Mac Allister.
Put in a hell of a shift but the quality and technical skill was lacking. Shows why Chelsea are in the market for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
Conor Gallagher struggled in the holding midfield positionCredit: AP
    Carney Chukwuemeka – 8
Booked just four minutes in for a nasty-looking high boot on Ibrahima Konate.
But after that he produced a superb display in that No8 role alongside Fernandez.
Very assured in possession, linking defence and attack on several occasions.
Carney Chukwuemeka impressed in Chelsea’s midfield
    Ben Chilwell – 6
Left Colwill horribly chasing shadows up against Salah, but was one of Chelsea’s main attacking outlets going forward.
Denied a goal by a marginal offside and then another by Alisson after half time.
    Raheem Sterling – 7
Looked really dangerous down the right flank linking up with James and Jackson in the middle.
His skill and acceleration caused all sorts of problems for Robertson and Van Dijk.
    Faded as the match progressed.
    Nicolas Jackson – 7
Full of energy, pressing the Liverpool back four and tracking back to recover possession.
Fired a good chance over the crossbar just before the break. Needs refining in front of goal but his all-round play was positive.
Fortunate not to give away a penalty after the ball struck his arm in the box from a corner.
