Asked if it should have been a spot kick by the Sky reporter after the match, the 27-year-old said of the incident: “No, totally no.
“As a keeper you make decision – sometimes you are right, sometimes you are not. I made a decision and I am responsible for everything.
“For me it was just contact between two big guys and I was calm. I knew nothing would happen there.”

New Arsenal signing David Raya boldly claims he could have enjoyed career as an OUTFIELD PLAYER

NEW Arsenal keeper David Raya has been thinking outside the box.The loanee from Brentford reckons he could be an OUTFIELD player.

David Raya points forward, in more ways than one, after sealing his Arsenal moveCredit: Getty
That supports the verdict of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who believes the Spaniard is skilful enough to be a “No 10”.
Raya, 27, has even assessed exactly what level he could play at if he didn’t stick between the sticks.
And if anyone should know, he should.
The two-cap star has worked his way up the leagues since a loan spell with fifth-tier Southport in 2014-15.
    Read more top stories
Brentford pouched Raya from Blackburn in 2019.
And his outstanding Premier League form helped the Bees finish ninth last season.
Ahead of his switch to the Emirates, Raya told Brentford’s media team: “In Spain, I could play in the third division as an outfield player.”
He then explained to Arsenal’s website: “My brother always put me in a goal. With my mates, I always played outfield.

“I enjoyed playing further up the pitch and I think that’s why I’m comfortable on the ball.

“Next to my house, there were always young guys playing on the futsal pitch. I always played outfield in those games.”
Raya must hope his extra ability with his feet helps him displace England ace Aaron Ramsdale, 25, as Gunners’ No1.
If it does make the difference, he might want to thank Klopp for his tiny role in bigging up his footwork.
After Liverpool’s 3-3 Prem draw at the Brentford Community Stadium in September 2021, the German said: “The goalkeeper could wear the number 10 shirt.
“He has sent several incredible balls, exactly what you should do when you play against us.”
Raya’s £3million loan deal includes the option of a £27m permanent move.
He signed a new two-year Brentford contract to protect his value just ahead of the move.
    Read More on The Sun
But Bees’ director of football Phil Giles explained: “It enables this deal to be done more rapidly, with all parties wanting to make this a permanent transfer as soon as practically possible.
“David’s contract extension is a fall-back position in the event that the transfer is not made permanent. I’m not expecting to see David back at Brentford, although if ever that happened then of course the opportunity to work with such a high-class goalkeeper for up to two more years would in many ways be an unexpected bonus.” More

Andre Onana stats prove he’s keeper Man Utd needed after just ONE game – but he’s pipped to top spot by Arsenal star

ANDRE ONANA made his Manchester United debut last night as Erik ten Hag’s side took on Wolves. The former Inter Milan stopper kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win, but was involved in a hugely controversial moment.

With United leading late on, Onana clattered Wolves debutant Sasa Kalajdzic in the box.
Following a VAR check, fans were left stunned when no penalty was given – sparing Onana’s blushes.
While his reckless moment nearly cost his new team two points, Onana excelled in one other key area.
Ten Hag, 53, was eager to upgrade on stalwart David de Gea – in large part due to the Spaniard’s inability to adequately play out from the back.

Onana completed 38 passes during last night’s match.
Last season, only David Raya averaged more than 38 passes per game while playing for Brentford.
The Spaniard, who today completed a move to Arsenal, completed an average of 38.8 passes during the 2022-23 campaign.
De Gea, meanwhile, managed just 28.5 per game.

Despite Onana’s greater passing prowess, United desperately struggled to create chances.
Wolves, meanwhile, wasted a series of glorious openings.
Boss Gary O’Neil, who was parachuted in following Julen Lopetegui’s exit last week, fumed after the match: “The keeper almost took our centre-forward’s head off.
“But I am not overly surprised we didn’t get it. I thought it was a penalty live and again when I watched the replay.
“If you clatter into an attacker that hard it has to be a foul. I am really, really surprised.”
Asked by Sky Sports if he felt lucky not to have conceded a penalty, Onana said: “No, totally no.
“As a keeper you make decision – sometimes you are right, sometimes you are not. I made a decision and I am responsible for everything.

Micky van de Ven reckons Spurs can do beautiful things if they train hard under Postecoglou – and has studied Vertonghen

MICKY VAN DE VEN reckons new club Tottenham can do some “beautiful things” under attack-minded boss Ange Postecoglou.Dutch defender VDV was chucked straight in for his debut at Brentford on Sunday.
Ange Postecoglou earned a draw on his Premier League bow at BrentfordCredit: Rex
That was despite only arriving from Wolfsburg for £43million five days prior and having only three days’ training.
The 22-year-old coped well on the whole and showed signs of his lightning quick pace in the 2-2 draw.
Though Spurs did not win their first competitive game under Postecoglou, fans were buoyed by the progressive style of play and were chanting their new boss’ name before half-time.
Van de Ven was hugely impressed by the Greek-born Aussie during transfer talks and believes the future looks very bright.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Asked why he agreed to come to North London, Van de Ven replied: “Because it’s an amazing club.
“I had a good meeting with the trainer. He’s a really good trainer, I love the club, I love the players and I think there is so much potential under this trainer so we will see where this season heads.
“(Postecoglou) has a good view on football. Attacking football is what I love, playing with a lot of space in the back doesn’t matter for me.
“Offensive football is what I like and if we play a lot of offensive football and we train, we train, we train then I think we can do some beautiful things.”
    Most read in Football
Van de Ven used to watch Spurs regularly because of all the players who joined them from the big Dutch clubs.
Among those are Christian Eriksen, who arrived from Ajax in 2013, and Steven Bergwijn, who was bought from PSV seven years later.
Van de Ven has already drawn comparisons from supporters to left-sided centre-back Jan Vertonghen.
The Belgian, 36, also signed from Ajax in 2012 and went on to make 315 Spurs appearances.
And Van de Ven revealed he has studied Vertonghen’s game as part of his own development.
The youngster said: “I was always in the stadium when Jan Vertonghen was playing for Ajax so I always saw him play and always said he was a good left-footed centre-back.
“Of course I learned some from him as I watched videos of him, so of course I learned from him.”
Van de Ven made 33 appearances last term for Wolfsburg where he was dubbed the fastest centre-back in the Bundesliga.
He also captained the Netherlands at this summer’s Under-21 Euros in Georgia in Romania.
Yet his bow in the relentless Premier League was a step-up.

Reflecting on his new league having experienced it for the first time, Van de Ven said: “Everything is harder, it’s going quicker and it’s going up and down, up and down.
“There is no moment in the game where you feel you can rest a bit, you always have to be sharp and 100 per cent focused.” More

I’m a former Premier League owner and I know exactly how Todd Boehly can spend nearly £1BILLION at Chelsea

FORMER Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has explained how Chelsea have spent nearly £1billion and still complied with financial fair play rules. The Blues are set to take their summer spending to more than £360m after wrapping up a deal for Moises Caicedo, with Romeo Lavia also set to follow.
Simon Jordan explained how Chelsea have been able to bypass FFP restrictionsCredit: talkSPORT
Todd Boehly has continued to spend big this summerCredit: Reuters
It comes after Todd Boehly splashed £600m in his first year as owner on the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk.
Chelsea have offset some of their expenditure by getting rid of 11 first-team players, with the likes of Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic leaving for big sums.
Jordan, 55, explained those sales have helped cover the outgoings on the balance sheet, meaning Chelsea can continue targeting the likes of Michael Olise.
He also pointed out the fact Chelsea have spread the cost of the transfer fees over eight-year contracts in some cases – which the Prem is now set to ban.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Jordan said on talkSPORT: “They’ve spent £800million on players, they’ve spent £600million last year and capitalised that over eight years because all of those players were on eight-year contracts, so all of a sudden that £600million spend is averaging at £75million per year because you’re dividing £600million by eight.
“He’s [Boehly] now had that change because the football fraternity has said ‘you can’t do that over eight years’, so they’ve rolled it back to five years.
“This year’s spend will be £300million, or round about that, and that’ll be reducing to £60million per year – so he’s now losing £75million each year for last year’s spend, plus £60million this year, but he’s gone and sold £250million worth of players in three transfer windows and all of those players have deduced an outcome that is profitable to Chelsea.
“He sold Kai Havertz for £60-odd-million after he bought him for £60million, but on his balance sheet at the time he sold Havertz he was carrying him at £25million so he sold him at £60million and booked a £35million profit.
    Most read in Football
FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS – BEST NEW CUSTOMER OFFERS
“He sold Mason Mount who is an academy player for £60million, so he’s booked a £60million profit, so over the three windows he’s booked somewhere in the region of £200million worth of transfer gains on his balance sheet and he’s reducing it by £135million every year, so he’s £65million in credit right now on his balance sheet in terms of transfers. That’s how he’s doing it.
“If you’re depreciating that at £135million a year and you’ve just sold £250-£260million worth of players over three transfer windows with most of those players – with the exception of Timo Werner who was sold at breakeven – are booking you a profit, you’ve just covered the last 18 months worth of potential losses and going into next year as well.
“In 18 months’ time if Chelsea are still spending at this level and are still carrying that level of depreciation and haven’t balanced the books by selling more players and haven’t got into the Champions League then they’re going to get caught.” More
