    Confusion over Lewis Hall transfer as fans spot key difference in Newcastle and Chelsea’s statement

    It is understood the deal contains an obligation for Newcastle to make Hall’s switch permanent for £28million, which could rise to £35m after add-ons.
    Newcastle confirmed that detail in their statement announcing Hall’s signing.
    But Chelsea state the Magpies only have an option to make the loan permanent – which would mean the Blues could potentially say no next summer.
    That has left fans baffled, with many believing the loan does include an obligation to buy.

    Rice – who was named Player of the Match – spoke to Sky Sports at full-time, but he was quickly hit with a small jibe about his transfer fee.
    The midfielder signed for Arsenal in a £105million transfer from West Ham last month, making him the most expensive player in Premier League history.
    However, that record was broken last week when Caicedo completed a huge £115m move from Brighton to Chelsea.
    Monday Night Football presenter David Jones was eager to bring the record up in the post-match interview with Rice.

    He said: “Can’t believe Caicedo has already broken your record though, Declan!
    “You can’t be happy with that!”

    To which the midfielder responded: “I had it up on the wall for two weeks, it’s come down already!”
    Fans praised Rice for his “perfect response” to the comment, with one person tweeting: “He’s even entertaining off the pitch! Worth every penny that £105m.”

    Andy Rankin dead at 79: Everton hero and European history-maker passes away as tributes pour in

    FORMER Everton star Andy Rankin has died aged 79.The ex-Goodison goalkeeper played for the Toffees between 1963 and 1971, with tributes pouring in.

    Concluding a lengthy tribute, the Toffees wrote: “The thoughts of everyone at Everton Football Club are with Andy’s family and friends at this sad time.”
    Rankin’s former Goodison team-mate Joe Royle said: “Andy was a great keeper, very athletic with excellent reflexes. He was brave with it as well.
    “Everton was his team and he was just so unlucky to have Westy [Gordon West] in front of him.

    “Whenever he played, he never let us down, that’s for sure. I’ll never forget the penalty save against Monchengladbach to take us through.
    “And I am certain that he will forever be the last Everton goalkeeper to drive three-wheeled Robin Reliant! The lads picked it up one day and hid it behind the gym at Bellefield!
    “Andy saw the funny side because he had a great sense of humour himself. He was just a great guy and I am deeply saddened by his passing.”
    Rankin made history during his career by becoming the first goalkeeper to ever make a victory-securing save in a Uefa penalty shoot-out.

    His big moment came during a European Cup tie with Borussia Monchengladbach in 1970.
    Following a 2-2 aggregate draw, Rankin saved from Ludwig Muller to send his team through.
    He left Goodison in 1971, joining Watford for £20,000.
    Rankin represented the Hornets until 1980, making more than 300 appearances.
    He concluded his career with a two-year spell at Huddersfield, hanging up his boots in 1982.
    Upon news of Rankin’s passing, the Terriers wrote on social media: “We’re all saddened to learn of the passing of our former goalkeeper Andy Rankin, aged 79.
    “Among his achievements, he played 24 times as #htafc clinched the Fourth Division title in May 1980.
    “Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”

    Chelsea agree £14m transfer for MLS star Djordje Petrovic after seeing off competition from Man Utd

    They have already signed Robert Sanchez in a £25million transfer from Brighton this summer.
    But, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are now set to raid the MLS for Petrovic.
    Todd Boehly and Co have agreed to pay £12.5m plus £1.5m in add-ons for the New England goalkeeper.
    Petrovic is set to undergo a medical this week before penning a seven-year contract with an option to extend for another season.

    The 23-year-old will likely play back-up to Sanchez at first, but Chelsea expect him to take over as the new No.1 in the near future.
    Petrovic spent one season in New England after joining from Serbian side FK Cukaricki in April 2022.

    In an interview with Betfred, Johnson said: “If he was confident enough that he would be a success at West Ham, then I believe they would have got the deal done.
    “I think he’s worried that he could still play rubbish at West Ham and then the whole situation is even more embarrassing.

    Women’s World Cup presenter, 32, announces pregnancy after fertility struggles and says ‘I never thought I’d be a mum’

    She also opened up about her pregnancy journey and battle with fertility issues.
    In an interview with OK!, Somers said: “I never, ever thought I would get to be a mum.
    “I’ve grown up thinking it wouldn’t be possible. I’ve had so many problems, so I just feel incredibly fortunate.
    “At my age, everyone knows someone who’s going through fertility problems or who has a bad story, and I always thought I was going to be one of those stories.”

    The popular presenter also revealed she was diagnosed with endometriosis before doctors discovered she had polycystic ovaries in 2019.
    Somers added: “It was the biggest relief ever because it fitted and explained everything.

    “So at the beginning of this year, Max (fiance) and I were thinking: ‘OK, it’s going to take years to have a baby. Let’s see what happens.'”
