Since then, he has coached in the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Greece with little success.
But he appeared on British TV screens on Wednesday evening as part of Sky Sports’ Soccer Special.
Pardew was sat alongside ex-footballers Paul Merson, Jobi McAnuff and Kris Boyd, as well as England cricket legend Stuart Broad.
But when presenter Julian Warren asked him what he’d been up to since he was last seen in the Premier League, things took an awkward turn.

He began by saying: “I did a bit of a European tour. It was Covid and I got a job in Holland and done a year in the Endesly [Eredivisie] there. That was interesting.
“We didn’t have the greatest of sides but coming up against the PSV Eindhovens and Ajaxs was a real challenge for us.
“Then I did a stint in Bulgaria with a big team there, CSKA Sofia, which were a good club.”
However, when Pardew finished by speaking about his five-month spell at Greek outfit Aris, he sent the studio into an eerie silence by confessing to a disagreement with the owner.

He added: “And then on to Greece, which was interesting, with a team called Aris.
“We actually had a decent side, was looking for European football – which they gained in the end – but me and the owner fell out so that was a bit tricky.”
Immediately after the comment, a couple of seconds of silence fell on the studio, before they moved on.
And fans were left baffled later in the show when Pardew was giving updates on Doncaster’s Carabao Cup clash with Everton.
After the League Two side netted the opener, Pardew claimed VAR could rule it out for offside.
That was despite VAR not being in operation.
One social media user said: “Are these people for real? Pardew is watching Doncaster v Everton, and after the goal he was saying VAR might rule it out.
“Er, Alan, they don’t have VAR if the game isn’t played at a Premier League ground.

    “You’d think he’d know that as a basic… being a manager recently.”
While another added: “Why did Pardew say VAR was gonna rule their goal out? Does he know something we don’t lol?” More

The deal, which totals £34m with add-ons, also includes a 17.5 per cent sell-on clause.
Monaco announced Balogun’s arrival with a unique NASCAR-themed video on social media.
The clip follows a truck as it races around the scenic cliffs of Monaco, with a masked driver at the wheel.
The vehicle then pulls into the club’s training centre before completing a series of doughnuts.

Balogun’s name is then revealed before the striker is seen wearing a Monaco shirt while sat on the front of the car alongside the helmet.
Fans were quick to react to the video, with one person writing: “I wonder who Balogun’s stunt double was for this announcement video?”

While a fourth loved it and commented: “Absolute class!”
The Gunners had been holding out all summer for a £50million fee for the US international.
But with time running out to get a deal over the line, they reluctantly accepted Monaco’s offer.
Balogun spent last season on loan with Reims, scoring 21 Ligue 1 goals in 37 appearances.
And he is not the only player leaving the Emirates this summer for less than Arsenal had been hoping for.
Nottingham Forest are set to sign full-back Nuno Tavares on a season-long loan after originally being told the player would cost them as much as £25million.
Albert Sambi Lokonga has failed to attract any concrete bids despite early interest from Burnley and Brighton.
Kieran Tierney has already gone on loan to Real Sociedad when Arsenal were hoping to sell him for around £35million.
And both Nicolas Pepe and Cedric Soares are expected to have the remaining year of their contracts paid up just to get them off the wage bill.
Balogun’s departure means that Arsenal have only raised a total of £65million this summer after selling Granit Xhaka, Pablo Mari, Auston Trusty and Matt Turner.

They have also received £2million as a part of a sell-on fee from Dinos Mavropanos’ recent move from Stuttgart to West Ham and are due a similar amount when Matteo Guendouzi completes his impending move from Marseilles to Lazio.
But it is still a long way short of the £150million they were looking to raise to offset the £208million they have spent on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya. More

And, including add-ons, the Palmer deal means they have now surpassed the £1billion mark since Boehly took over last year.
The 21-year-old, who looks set to become the latest addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, won the age group Euros with England in the summer.
According to The Times, Chelsea have reached an agreement with City for the Wythenshawe-born player.
They go on to state the Blues are “close” to completing the signing.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Palmer scored the opening goal in Man City’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal earlier this month, before he also netted in their Super Cup win over Sevilla.
But he has managed just ten minutes of action in their first three Premier League games – with that cameo coming off the bench in a 3-0 victory over Burnley.
Palmer has registered six goals and two assists in 41 games for Man City.
He featured 25 times for Pep Guardiola’s Treble winners last season.

However, just seven of those came as a starter as he has been forced to play a bit-part role in City’s successes.
Brighton saw a £30m bid for Palmer rejected.
Earlier in the window, Guardiola spoke about the young attacker, saying: “I don’t know [if he will stay]. When we arrived I had the opinion that he wanted to leave but now I don’t know.
“I don’t think a loan is going to happen. He’s going to stay or he’s going to be sold.”
The move will mean Pochettino has further bolstered his attacking options following injuries to Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Boehly has already splashed the cash on several signings this summer including Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, Robert Sanchez and Lesley Ugochukwu.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe. More

Kavanagh has been overlooked as a referee, fourth official, VAR or assistant VAR role, according to the Prem’s official website.
SunSport understands Kavanagh is not injured and sources have indicated he has a frosty relationship with PGMOL Select Group One manager Jonathan Moss.
The Fifa official last took charge of a Prem match back on May 20 for Manchester United’s 1-0 win at Bournemouth.
Sixteen of the 20 Select Group One refs have had a game so far this season.

That will become 17 of the 20 because Darren England has been placed in charge of Tottenham’s visit to Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
The other Select Group One refs who have not officiated a Prem game yet are Tony Harrington and Graham Scott.
But both have taken charge of a Championship match – unlike Kavanagh.
The two new Prem refs for this season – Darren Bond and Tim Robinson – have both been appointed for one match each in August.

Kavanagh officiated just 13 Prem matches last season but has yet to be appointed this term.
Robert Madley, who has returned as a Select Group Two official, has been pushed forward to officiate Brentford’s home clash with Bournemouth on Saturday.
Kavanagh officiated 23 games in total, but six were in the Championship, two in the FA Cup plus a match apiece in the Europa League and Nations League.
But he hit the headlines in March when Fulham’s former striker Aleksandar Mitrovic pushed the ref in an FA Cup quarter-final tie at Old Trafford.
Mitrovic was banned for eight games while Fulham manager Marco Silva also received a two-match ban after he was sent off. More

He said: “Happy 20th birthday to my beautiful little sister. Love you loads.”
One of the images he shared showed the pair smiling together in the car.
The other saw them posing on the Etihad turf after the Man City star received his Premier League winner’s medal.

Hollie, who was born three months premature, was not expected to be able to walk or talk due to cerebral palsy affecting her movement and balance.
But she overcame those challenges and is now able to do both.
Jack and Hollie have a very close relationship, with the England star throwing her a special 18th birthday party in 2021 where he invited her favourite Coronation Street star, Andrew Whyment.
Speaking previously about Hollie, Grealish said: “I’m so close with my little sister. She was born three months premature.

“They said that she wouldn’t be able to talk, she wouldn’t be able to walk, and do a lot of stuff but here we are and she can do everything.
“Obviously I love her so much, yeah I think I’m a good big brother to her.”
Jack, 27, is the oldest of five siblings – with his younger brother Keelan tragically passing away from sudden infant death syndrome at just nine months old.
The Man City man’s other siblings are Kevan, born in 1997, Kiera, born in 2001, and Hollie, born in 2003.
Grealish, who is in a relationship with model Sasha Attwood, recently suffered the devastating news that student Dylan Lamb, 20, who he donated £5,000 to in a bid to help him go to America for life-saving treatment, had passed away.
After not featuring in Man City’s Premier League opener against Burnley, Grealish has started the champions’ last three games.
He featured in the Super Cup victory over Sevilla and league win over Newcastle.
And he then helped himself to a first assist of the season on Sunday, setting up Erling Haaland with a superb cross for Man City’s opener in a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United. More

Tottenham ‘agree loan transfer for Tanguy Ndombele’ but deal could collapse with midfielder unconvinced on new club

TOTTENHAM have agreed a deal with Serie A side Genoa for the loan of Tanguy N’Dombele, according to reports. But Fabrizio Romano says the deal is on the brink of collapse with the midfielder being unconvinced by Genoa, who were only promoted to the Serie A this season.

Spurs are desperate to offload N’Dombele, who now sits as the club’s highest earner on £200,000-a-week after Harry Kane left the club.
Tottenham paid £53million to sign the midfielder from Lyon in 2019 but he has never truly settled in North London.
His most regular spell in the side came under Jose Mourinho, but he was shipped out on loan twice by Antonio Conte to Lyon and Napoli.
After spending last season on loan at Serie A champions Napoli, the midfielder feels he is above playing for a side that has just been promoted to the league in the form of Genoa.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
There had been a glimmer of hope that Tottenham’s record signing might have been brought back into the first team fold by Ange Postecoglou after he impressed in training during the Aussie’s early weeks in charge.
But the midfielder picked up an injury during Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia which saw the likes of Giovani Lo Celso moved ahead of the Frenchman in Postecoglou’s pecking order.
Things turned sour though with Postecoglou becoming frustrated with both the midfielder’s attitude and timekeeping on the tour.
Spurs are now desperate to offload him, even if the move is just a loan.

Turkish side Galatasaray are also interested in a deal for the midfielder.
It was rumoured that the Turkish club offered Tottenham £11m for N’Dombele earlier this window but again he was unconvinced by the project.
N’Dombele is contracted to Spurs until the summer of 2025 and his wages currently cost the club over £10m-a-year.
During his four-year spell at the North London club, he’s made 63 appearances with a return of six goals. More

Felix, 23, is now back at Atletico Madrid – but has been completely frozen out by boss Diego Simeone.
Reports in Spain suggest Felix has been waiting for Barcelona to make a move.
And he was even linked with a shock move to Liverpool, with Mo Salah being chased in a mega-money deal by Saudi side Al-Ittihad.
But Ben Jacobs reports Felix would be up for another chance with Chelsea.

And Blues supporters reckon he could be in Blue again this season after seeing Felix’s Twitter page.
The £112million striker’s profile picture still shows him in his Chelsea gear… with “Chelsea Football Club💙” in his bio.
Atletico signed Felix for the incredible fee from Benfica in 2019.
But he failed to live up to his price tag, netting 34 goals in 131 games.

He hoped to resurrect his career with Chelsea last season but, while he showed some flashes of brilliance in the struggling Blues side, he only managed to contribute four goals in 16 appearances.
As a result, new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino decided not to opt and sign Felix on a permanent deal for the 2023/24 season.
Saudi Arabia have been a possible deal maker for a permanent move for the Portuguese star- but he remains set on a season-long loan.
A number of the Gulf State clubs are interested in Felix including Al-Ittihad, Al-Shabab and Al-Hilal.
However, Felix has confirmed he wants to remain in Europe – with Catalan giants Barcelona in the lead to sign the winger but have until Friday’s 11pm transfer deadline to finalise.
