United’s clash with Bayern will see them come face to face with former top striker target Harry Kane in the group stage clash.
Rasmus Hojlund will come up against former club FC Copenhagen and United will also face a tricky trip to Turkish giants Galatasaray.
The competition will kick off after the upcoming international break with matchday one beginning on September the 19th.
United are back in Europe’s biggest competition after failing to qualify for last year’s Champions League.

Their tumultuous 2021/22 season saw them finish sixth under interim manager Ralf Rangnick and only qualify for last year’s Europa League.
There, they would ultimately crash out to Sevilla in the quarter-finals despite beating LaLiga champions Barcelona on the way to reach the quarters.
Returning to this year’s Champions League represented a major success for Erik Ten Hag in his first season in charge at United.
The club comfortably secured their return to Europe’s biggest stage by finishing third in the Premier League.

Ten Hag also brought silverware to United for the first time since Jose Mourinho’s Europa League victory in 2017 with victory in the Carabao Cup.
United have strengthened their squad since then, adding new goalkeeper Andre Onana, Mason Mount and striker Rasmus Hojlund in the hope of challenging for the biggest honours this season.
It’s been a mixed start to the season for the Red Devils so far this season, however.
They emerged with a 1-0 victory in their opening day clash against Wolves despite not being the better side and followed that up with a 2-0 defeat away at Tottenham.
United returned to winning ways at the weekend with a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest but even that came after United fell two goals behind in the opening five minutes.
Ten Hag will be hoping to further bolster his options by the time United play their first Champions League fixture, as a deal for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat remains in the works.
The club would also like to add another forward before the end of the window, after Ten Hag initially counted on bringing Mason Greenwood back into the fold. More

Who will Newcastle play in the Champions League group stages? Fixtures and dates revealed

NEWCASTLE UNITED have been drawn in the group of death for this season’s Champions League group stage. It’s a clean-sweep of massive fixtures for the Magpies, with Newcastle drawing PSG, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund.

    The draw in full
Champions League nights at St James’ Park were last seen under Sir Bobby Robson in the 2002/03 season with a team that included the likes of Alan Shearer, Nobby Solano and Gary Speed.
Back then the competition was split into two group stages, with Newcastle advancing through a group that contained Juventus, Dynamo Kyiv and Feyenoord.
After that they were drawn in a group of death, like this year, alongside Barcelona, Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen and ultimately crashed out during the second group stage.
Eddie Howe masterminded a return to the Champions League last season with the club finishing fourth in the Premier League.

Their qualification came firmly ahead of schedule for the club’s Saudi ownership, who took them over the previous season with the club facing relegation under Steve Bruce.

Sandro Tonali became the club’s record signing after transferring from AC Milan for £60million.

They have also reinforced by bringing in Leicester winger Harvey Barnes for £38m.
Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall have also reinforced the squad at full back.
Despite the high of last season’s top four finish, it’s been a tough start to the season for Newcastle.
They kicked off the season in impressive style with a thrilling 5-1 demolition of Aston Villa but have since fallen to a 1-0 defeat to champions Manchester City and a late Darwin Nunez double saw them lose 2-1 to Liverpool.
They’ll be looking to bounce back next time away at Brighton in the Saturday evening kick off. More

Henderson, 26, is set to have his medical today and will sign a five-year contract at Selhurst Park.
His move to South London brings to an end his 12-year spell with the Red Devils where he has challenged David De Gea for a starting spot.
But his pricey transfer will not gift him with the No1 shirt at Palace as he will have to fight Sam Johnstone for it.
The academy graduate joined United when he was 14 and made his senior debut in 2015.

Henderson has since had six loan spells at Stockport, Grimsby, Shrewsbury and Sheffield United – where he earned them Championship promotion.
His remarkable effort at Bramall Lane earned him his first and only England call-up in 2020.
More recently he spent the season at Nottingham Forest but made just 20 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign due to a thigh injury.
Steve Cooper was keen to steal Erik ten Hag’s No2 but the Eagles came in to swoop him away.

The England international will replace Vicente Guaita – who is expected to depart the Eagles after falling out with Hodgson after refusing to play in pre-season friendlies.
Henderson will join Palace’s new signings Jefferson Lerma and Matheus France from Flamengo.
But the South London side are still on the hunt for a Wilfred Zaha replacement who departed last month on a free transfer to Galatasaray.
Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho is a key target for Hodgson’s squad as well as Paris Saint-German’s Hugo Ekitike.
Meanwhile, United are lined-up to sign goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce to back-up summer arrival Andre Onana.

Inside Man Utd transfer chaos with Mount injured, Maguire still at club, left-back scramble and no money for Amrabat

MANCHESTER UNITED’S race to sign Sofyan Amrabat shows where they are in a chaotic opening to the new season.Amrabat of Fiorentina had been touted as a signing for the Red Devils all summer.

But as of a week ago they were not interested in the deal.
Fast forward to today and they are battling to get a loan over the line for the £30 million rated Moroccan international midfielder.
No doubt Mason Mount’s injury has played a part in that scenario.
Fiorentina will do the loan to help United get around FFP regulations as long as the Red Devils confirm they will make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

They are also still fighting to get a left-back on loan with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia injured.
Talks are ongoing to get one of Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella or Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon.
Chelsea are demanding a £7million loan fee for Cucurella who turned out for Mauricio Pochettino against Wimbledon on Wednesday night.
The defensive problems do not end there with Raphael Varane sidelined for at least a month.

That has led to the club clinging on to Harry Maguire who is wanted by West Ham.
In any case they were struggling to get that £30million outgoing done with their former captain holding out for a £15million pay off.
There was also news this week that new goalkeeper Andre Onana could be missing for up to a month in the New Year.
The Cameroon international has gone back on his decision to retire from international football meaning he will be required for the African Cup of Nations.
There are problems up front that the club are hoping new striker Rasmus Hojlund can solve starting this weekend.
He is expected to be on the bench after what was described as a slight injury picked up in pre-season with his former club Atalanta having stopped him from training with his new teammates until this week.
They definitely need someone upfront with all four of their goals in the opening three games coming from midfield with one headed in by Raphael Varane.

All this and the team have not started the new season well.
They were very fortunate to beat Wolves in their opening game.
The Red Devils then lost to Tottenham as they faded after a bright start.
Last weekend they were 2-0 down in the opening four minutes to a Nottingham Forest side who won only one game away from home in the whole of last season.

The comeback to win 3-2 at least showed the team has spirit but that will only take them so far.
The visit to The Emirates could have United fans watching proceedings through their fingers. More

I’m an ex-Premier League star who moved to Newcastle with bizarre clause in my contract – it meant I only played twice

STEPHEN IRELAND had a bizarre clause in his Newcastle contract which meant he only played twice. The former Premier League star moved on loan to St. James’ Park from Aston Villa in 2011.

However, he went on to make just two appearances during his half-a-season stay on Tyneside.
Ireland has now revealed that this was due to a clause in the deal which meant Newcastle would have to pay £50,000 each time he played.
In addition, Ireland could only play a total of four times for the Magpies.
The retired midfielder exclusively told Ladbrokes Fanzone: “I felt really good about myself, and then the next thing you know Alan Pardew is calling me into his office.

“‘Just so you’re aware, part of this loan which you don’t know about is that we can only use you four times.’
“Four times in a whole half a season. That was what Aston Villa had agreed with Newcastle.
“Alan explained that I was going to cost the club £50,000 per appearance, whether that’s me coming on for one minute or playing a full 90… I could only make four appearances and each of them would cost the club £50,000.
“Alan explained he was going to have to be smart with how he used me, because he was limited to just four appearances.

“It was honestly just ridiculous. I was just like ‘what am I doing here?’ It was the most ridiculous deal I’d ever heard in my life.
“They brought me on for my debut at home, against Manchester United, with about 20 minutes to go.
“We drew the game 0-0, I should have scored to win it for us. Don’t get me wrong, the experience was incredible, the fans were amazing.
“But all I was thinking was ‘that’s fifty grand, there, and I’ve got three appearances left.’

“I played in the next game, away at Blackpool, and I came on again, for something like 20 minutes.
“That was two appearances, about 40 minutes, costing Newcastle £100,000.”
Overall, Ireland made 245 Premier League appearances during his career.
As well as his spells with Newcastle and Villa, he also played in the top flight for Stoke and Manchester City.
Ireland retired aged 32 in 2018 after a short stint with Bolton in the Championship. More

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs lead the chase for Johnson ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline day.
The Londoners are bidding to fill the daunting striker void left by record goalscorer Kane, who joined Bayern Munich for £104million.
Page said: “He’s more than capable of handling it. You can’t go into a club expecting to fill somebody’s else’s boots.
“He’s a very different type of player to Harry. I wouldn’t even think of the Harry Kane situation and going in to fill that. He’s his own man.

“He’s just got to go, he’s his own person and player. It would be a great move for him. If he goes there, he goes on his own ability and what he can offer to the team.
“I liken it to what Dan James went through at Manchester United.
“He had one great season at Swansea, but Brennan has had more than one great season in the Championship. He has scored in the Premier League and his record is there to be seen.
“Young players today – and Brennan falls into this category – are a confident breed and he’s more than capable of playing at that level.”

Page knows Johnson’s dad David well and reckons the Wales attacker will keep his feet on the ground despite all the transfer attention.
Page, who watched Johnson cause Manchester United problems in the 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford last Saturday, added: “Brennan has a good support network around him.
“I know his dad, who used to play so he’s been through all this himself. You need that network as a young lad.
“I don’t believe he will get carried away with it. He will stay grounded and won’t change.
We certainly won’t allow that in the changing room in the Wales set-up.”
Johnson was named yesterday in Page’s 25-man squad for the September 7 friendly at home to South Korea before the Euro 2024 must-win qualifier in Latvia four days later,

The Red Devils are in search of a new left-back before the transfer window closes on Friday.
Cucurella had been touted as a potential target but United now have doubts after he played for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

The report adds that Cucurella will remain an option until the very end but that a move for the Spaniard is now more complicated.
United are making their decision based on both football and financial factors this week.
Cucurella is cup-tied from the Carabao Cup after starting Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Wimbledon on Wednesday.

As for Reguilon, he is yet to play for Spurs this season after returning from a loan spell with Atletico Madrid.
United are keen to bring in a left-back before Friday’s 11pm deadline due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Their absences have left Alvaro Fernandez as the only recognised left-back available to Ten Hag.
The 20-year-old has yet to make his senior United debut after spending last season on loan at Preston. More
