Arsenal legend wishes Wales team-mate had not made Spurs switch on deadline-day

AARON RAMSEY joked he was unhappy with Brennan Johnson’s £47.5million deadline-day move to Tottenham. The Wales captain spent 11 years with Arsenal between 2008-19 which included two FA Cup final-winning goals for the Gunners.

But Ramsey, 32, reignited his north London rivalry with old foes Spurs after Johnson made the big-money switch from Nottingham Forest last Friday.
When asked about Johnson’s transfer, Ramsey quipped: “I wish it weren’t to Tottenham!”
Ramsey has linked up with Johnson for Thursday’s friendly with South Korea and a must-win Euro 2024 qualifier in Latvia next Monday.
And the Cardiff midfielder reckons ‘scary’ Johnson, 22, can scale new heights under new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

Ramsey added: “It’s a brilliant move for him. The potential he has is quite scary and hopefully he can take those next steps and go to the next level.
“He’s going to be important for Wales as well. He’s going to be huge for us over the years to come and we’re all excited that he has another platform to go on and improve himself again.”
Ramsey was also the subject of a summer move after terminating his Nice contract to return home to boyhood club Cardiff.
The ex-Juventus and Rangers has scored twice for the Bluebirds this season but his latest effort could not prevent a 3-2 Championship loss at Ipswich on Saturday.

But Ramsey, who turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, says he has been rejuvenated on the pitch because he is closer to his family of wife Colleen and three children rather than living on his own abroad.
Ramsey said: “I just feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulder. I’m feeling a lot more free. That definitely helps on the pitch.
“It has been difficult being away from the family but you need that balance right to be able to enjoy every aspect, and I feel like I’m enjoying every moment now.
“I’m looking forward to doing the school run, having three boys screaming in the car in the morning. I’m glad they’re going back to school!
“I’m absolutely buzzing to be back and getting stuck into the family things as well.”

Ramsey once again pledged his support to under-fire Wales boss Robert Page after a woeful run of one win in 12 internationals.
He added: “We’re all behind the gaffer.
“What he has done has been quite remarkable, getting to a Euros and the World Cup. Now we are going through a transitional period, we have lost some big players and it was always going to be difficult.
“We’ve been in this position before. We had to take it to the Hungary game in the last one to qualify for Euro 2020 so hopefully this can be a similar case.”
Luton captain Tom Lockyer pulled out of the squad on Monday with a thigh injury.
Meanwhile, Eric Ramsay quit his role as Wales assistant manager after the birth of his second child.
The 31-year-old Manchester United coach, who joined the Dragons in March, said: “This has been an extremely difficult decision to make.
“But it is the right one for myself and my family after the recent birth of our second child and taking into consideration the intensity of my role at Manchester United.
“Having discussed everything with my family, Rob and the Association, we came to the conclusion that it was best to depart my role before the upcoming internationals so that the group can fully concentrate on the fixtures.
“I’m extremely thankful to everyone at FA Wales; the experiences throughout the last six months have been amongst the proudest moments of my career to date.
“It was a real pleasure to work with this group of players and I wish everyone nothing but success going forward.”
Sheffield United first team coach Jack Lester has replaced Ramsay.

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag leaves Jadon Sancho to stew training with fringe players as he heads off on holiday amid row

ERIK TEN HAG has left Jadon Sancho to stew after heading off on holiday following their public war of words. The Manchester United and England star was one of the few players training at Carrington, with most team-mates off on international duty.

Boss Ten Hag and his coaching staff have taken a short break.
It means Sancho, whose career at Old Trafford hangs in the balance, is unlikely to see the Dutchman until next week.
Sancho has yet to speak to Ten Hag after his extraordinary attack on the manager on Sunday night.
Following the 3-1 loss to Arsenal, Ten Hag revealed the ex-Borussia Dortmund winger had been axed from the United squad because of his “performances in training”.

But Sancho hit back and said: “I will not allow people saying things that are completely untrue.
“I have conducted myself very well in training this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into.
“I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair.”
Ten Hag has the full backing of United’s board over his decision to drop Sancho from the squad.

The Dutch coach has repeatedly impressed on United’s players the importance of being professional and not letting their standards drop.
Yet Ten Hag still hopes Sancho, who joined from Dortmund for £73million in 2021, can turn his career around.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has completely transformed his United career after he was earlier frozen out by Ten Hag.
Marcus Rashford also listened to Ten Hag’s advice — and delivered his best ever season for United last term.
Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand says Sancho has backed himself into a corner.
He reckons the only options moving forward are a switch to Saudi Arabia before the transfer window there closes on Thursday or a long spell on the bench.
Ferdinand, 44, said: “There are two ways this ends.
“There’s only one window open now — and that’s Saudi. Or you’re on the bench or not getting in the squad for the rest of the season.”
Former Old Trafford keeper Ben Foster claims the 23-year-old is lucky that Ten Hag is the manager and not Sir Alex Ferguson.
Foster added: “It’s crazy. If Alex Ferguson is manager at this moment in time of Manchester United, and Jadon Sancho does this, he will never see the light of day again for Man United.

“He’ll never play for this club, he’ll never be allowed in the training ground. You are done.
“It’s not going to help you. It’s petulant, it’s reactive, it’s emotional and it’s disrespectful.”

The United gaffer said: “Jadon, on his performance in training, was not selected.
“You have to reach a level at Manchester United every day and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”

I’m an Arsenal U21 star who was making six figures as a 16 year old… but not from football

REUELL WALTERS is a whizkid on the pitch and online – after raking in £10,000 a night from Fortnite aged just 16.The Arsenal Under-21 star found an incredible way to help his friends AND his bank balance.

The ex-Tottenham schoolboy, now 18, devised a map for the popular video game during the coronavirus lockdown.
And it was so lucrative that the England Under-19 defender’s first tax bill was into SIX FIGURES!
It’s also estimated his map was used 250million times in one week.
And as the Londoner gets a royalty fee every time it’s played, that meant his nightly earnings peaked at 10,000 to 15,000 dollars (£8k to £12k).

In a video posted by 101GreatGoals, linking to UnderArmour, Walters said: “Obviously we weren’t allowed to leave our homes so I picked up a different hobby where everyone loves the game.
I think as a teenage boy I was playing Fortnite with my friends and they were talking to me about how they just wanted to play this game mode and how it hadn’t been made before.
“So I just decided, you know, I’ll make something for them to play.”
He added: “It was probably one of the first things that was made in lockdown.

Why Havertz’s Arsenal penalty shout was overturned by VAR as PGMOL disagrees with Man Utd boss Ten Hag on EVERY decision

PREMIER LEAGUE refs’ chiefs have backed EVERY key decision made in Arsenal’s controversial 3-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday.United manager Erik ten Hag was fuming after his side’s second North London defeat of the season, while Arsenal fans believed they were robbed of a second half penalty.

Manchester United also had a late goal ruled out for offsideCredit: AFP
But Taylor’s final calls – which saw him overturn his initial decision to award the Gunners a spot-kick – have been endorsed by PGMOL.
The first controversy came when Havertz went down after darting between Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Casemiro.
Taylor blew swiftly and pointed to the spot, only for the Wythenshawe-based official to change his mind after being sent to the pitch-side screen for an Off Field Review.
Arsenal fans pointed to the contact between Havertz and Wan-Bissaka to argue that the original call could not have been a “clear and obvious error” – drawing parallels with the match-winning spot kick won by Marcus Rashford for United against Nottingham Forest the previous week.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
But Aussie VAR Jarred Gillett recommended a review after Taylor told him he had given the offence for a trip by the United defender, clipping Havertz’ left heel.
The video of the incident showed clear distance between Wan-Bissaka’s foot and the Arsenal man, who was then felt to have inadvertently instigated the subsequent contact by moving his left leg off a straight line – as Taylor agreed when he took his second look at the clash.
Ten Hag’s complaints about the three calls he disputed are understood to have been dismissed by PGMOL, who backed Taylor and the VAR.
Despite the Dutchman’s whinge about the “camera angle” of the offside call which ruled out Alejandro Garnacho’s late goal in normal time, all lines are calibrated accurately and it means the Argentine was at least eight inches offside.

Likewise, Taylor is felt to have rightly seen no foul when new United striker Rasmus Hojlund tussled with home defender Gabriel before hitting the deck in the Arsenal box.
And while ten Hag argued that Jonny Evans had been fouled by Gabriel before Declan Rice fired home the critical injury-time second Arsenal goal, that view was rejected with PGMOL agreeing that it was normal in-box contact and that Evans was as much the aggressor as the Brazilian. More

Champions League giants ‘still in talks with Man Utd over Donny van de Beek transfer after failing in deadline day move’

GALATASARAY are reportedly still in talks with Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek after failing to agree a £1million loan deal on deadline day. The Red Devils outcast is set to leave Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag aims to trim his squad.

Turkey’s transfer window does not close until September 15th with clubs able to continue making offers past the European deadline.
Van de Beek arrived at the Red Devils in 2020 from Ajax for £40million with high expectations.
The hefty fee came off the back of him playing a starring role in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals.
But the midfielder has faced injuries, an unsuccessful loan move to Everton and failure to secure first-team opportunities at United.

He played just seven games for the Toffees during his loan spell, scoring one goal.
This has left the 26-year-old eager to revamp his career.
The Dutchman has played just 34 league games since arriving in England and is yet to be named in any of Ten Hags fixtures this season.
He has started just two Premier League games since the start of last season, despite having starred under Ten Hag during their time together at Ajax.

French giants Lorient and former club Ajax have both shown interest in the forgotten star.
But with the European window now closed Champions League contenders Galatasaray are the front runners.
The Super Lig side remain keen on Van de Beek and are hopeful of finalising a deal with United in the coming days.
Galatasaray have already signed Premier League star Wilfred Zaha this summer.
The former Crystal Palace ace joined as a free agent in July and made his debut in a 0-0 draw against Kayserispor.
Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele and Davinson Sanchez are also set to be flying to the Turkish capital to finalise a deal. More

Shearer then cheekily butted in: “The common opinion is don’t f*** with big Meeks.”
Richards laughed as he said: “No comment.”
And Shearer continued: “Flex the guns Micah.”
SunSport understands that both Richards and Keane were left shaken by the incident.
Sky are considering beefing up their security in response to the alleged altercation.
The incident is said to have occurred as Richards and Keane waited for a lift by the Highbury Bar within the Emirates’ West Stand.
Both men had been making their way pitchside during the closing stages of the match, before trying to head back to the studio as late drama unfolded.
It had looked as if Alejandro Garnacho had won it for United, only for the goal to be ruled out and Arsenal to subsequently score twice.
The Gunners are said to be co-operating with authorities regarding the alleged altercation. More
