MANCHESTER CITY star Jack Grealish revealed he started to “feel the love” off manager Pep Guardiola during the second half of last season.Grealish joined City in 2021 following a club record £100million move from Aston Villa but struggled to hit the ground running on his debut campaign with a mere three goals and three assists.

The England international, though, managed to turn things around last term when he returned from the 2022 World Cup.
That was when the forward started to register more goals as well as assists and thus Guardiola kept featuring him in his starting line-up more often.
The 28-year-old insists the City tactician never gave him a pep talk but quickly realised he was highly-rated simply by the opportunities he was getting.
Grealish told City’s official podcast: “I’m a big confidence player, I want to feel loved.

“I came back from the World Cup and my first game was against Leeds and I should have scored at least two goals in the first half and at half-time, I was dwelling on that.
“But in the second half, I made two assists for Erling [Haaland].’
“A week later, I was on the bench at Chelsea, as me and Riyad [Mahrez] came on at the same time and I got another assist for his goal. After that, I just seemed to get some more goal involvements.
“I felt I was playing well in myself, too, and the manager was picking me in the big games like for Arsenal in the FA Cup and Arsenal in the Premier League, Tottenham and so on.

“I was feeling the love off Pep – not because he’d said so, but because he was playing me in all those big games.
“It’s OK the manager going; ‘You’re so important to the team, Jack’ – then not picking you.
“Then you’d think; ‘Yeah, you’re just saying that’. Pep didn’t say anything at all, but he picked me for the big games, and that said everything.” More

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri hatches bizarre plan to sell club with £500m agreement with 777Partners up in the air

FARHAD MOSHIRI is so desperate to sell  Everton he is willing to accept an offer in instalments. The Toffees’ majority owner has agreed to quit for £500million after striking a deal with controversial American company 777Partners.

But even if the takeover is ratified by the Premier League — which seems unlikely — the Miami-based financial group could walk into Goodison Park without putting down ANY hard cash.
The bizarre business plan is already under threat from two lenders who want a total of £300m paid back before any sale is completed.
Around £300m is also needed to complete the  construction of the Toffees’ new £505m stadium, which is scheduled to open by Christmas next year.
But SunSport understands 777 are now searching for backers to fund the takeover — despite claiming to be worth £4.8BILLION.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Indeed, 777 are understood to owe £900,000 to British Basketball after agreeing to take a 45 per cent stake worth £7m in 2021.
The Americans, led by managing owner Josh Wander, have controlling interests in Genoa, Standard Liege, Hertha Berlin, Vasco de Gama and Melbourne Victory as well as basketball’s London Lions.
But SunSport has already revealed the combined losses across the football clubs ran to £200m last year.
Moshiri, who started investing in the Toffees from 2016 and now holds 94.1 per cent of the crisis club, has so far invested £750m.

He already stands to lose at least a third of that huge investment at a club that, under his leadership, has racked up £431m in losses over the past four years.
A loan of £20m from 777 went through last week to help with running costs.
That is money set to be deducted from the selling price.
But should 777 succeed in their purchase, against a backdrop of US lawsuits over fraud and racketeering, Moshiri may have to wait years to get the rest of that £500m.
His arrangement is based on the club starting to make a profit again.
Yet relegation would cost £100m, while next month’s tribunal following a Prem independent inquiry over alleged breaches of financial fair play rules could  result in a points deduction.
Manager Sean Dyche held his first meeting with 777 chief Wander and Co this week.
Dyche revealed: “They made it clear the deal has a long way to go to finality.

According to The Daily Mail, the average weekly viewing figures for August fell from 849,000 in 2019 to just 564,000 last month.
Football Focus is not thought to be under immediate threat, but the long-term future of the show has been plunged into doubt.
The programme is set to celebrate it’s 50th anniversary next year and BBC chiefs are understood to be considering a major rebrand.
England legend Alex Scott replaced Dan Walker, who had anchored the show for 12 years before leaving, in 2021 and the major change coincided with a drop in viewing figures.

The average viewership dropped by around 18,000 when the switch was made, but the BBC have placed no blame on fan favourite Scott, who has covered several major tournaments as well as the Olympics.
Raising hopes that the show can survive, a BBC spokesman said: ‘Football Focus continues to herald the start of a whole weekend of sporting coverage across BBC Sport.
“Week-on-week it is the most watched programme during that time slot and iPlayer viewing figures are also strong, so we know its popularity is enduring for fans.’
Football Focus would become the second iconic sports show to be axed, following the end of Soccer AM.

Fans get massive boost as huge change to Premier League TV schedule revealed but one revolutionary plan ditched

UP to 270 Prem games will be screened live from 2025-26 — with clubs on the verge of agreeing the new TV packages.League bosses outlined the proposed new schedule in yesterday’s meeting of the 20 top flight CEOs.

The new deal — expected to be confirmed next week — will bring a significant increase on the 200 matches shown in the current TV contracts with Sky, TNT Sports and Amazon.
It is understood there will be an increase in Saturday clashes at 7.45pm — although Prem bosses insist the idea of Sunday evening matches has been dismissed.
Club and League chiefs both hope that offering more games will see the value of the domestic deal increase when the packages go out to tender over the coming weeks.
The overseas deals for the 2025-28 cycle are already higher than for the domestic packages, taking the overall value of overseas deals above the existing £5.5bn tally.

Recent reports have suggested that officials are also open to discussions surrounding the 3pm blackout.
The blackout law was introduced before the establishment of the Premier League back in 1992.
It is a rule that prohibits any football match from being broadcast on live television in the UK on Saturdays between 2:45pm and 5:15pm.
However, officials are allegedly considering adjusting the rules to support the women’s game.

Dawn Airey, chair of the Women’s Super League, believes the women’s top tier will become a billion-pound enity.
She said: “That isn’t the figure we just plucked from the air, it is based on a pretty decent and detailed business plan for over the course of the next 10 years.
“We look at the growth of attendances, we look at the growth of engagement and broadcast, we look at the increased interest in sponsorship and marketing opportunities, and then we start being more imaginative about what attending a women’s game means.
“Not just watching the game, but everything that goes on around it, is there potential for clubs to think differently about their revenues?” More
