Keane, 52, had numerous high-profile rows with players during his management career at Sunderland and Ipswich.
But the Irishman’s controversial confrontations began when he fell out with Ireland manager Mick McCarthy ahead of the 2002 World Cup – which cost him a chance to play in the tournament.
His clashes continued into his coaching career as he notably fell out with Jonathan Walters and Harry Arter during an Ireland training camp in 2018.
Speaking on the new ‘Stick To Football’ podcast by Sky Bet featuring Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Jill Scott, Keane reflected on some of his infamous moments.

The former Man Utd captain spoke about how he still stands by his actions about falling out with certain players during his management spell.
He said: “I fell out with lads when I was manager of Sunderland, Ipswich when I was working with Martin O’Neill at Ireland.
“I look back and I analyse it, and I was convinced – and I still am – that I was right.
“The lads that I fell out with were idiots who never did anything with their lives or their careers afterwards, so that gives me a bit of comfort.

“No one’s ever proved me wrong on that side of it.
“I have pulled players in, and you would have discussions and arguments, but players can be wrong obviously.”
Keane spoke about how leadership is about how you engage with your squad but admits he struggled at times to have conversations with players who do not train properly.
He continued: “Leadership is about actions. What you do on the training pitch, how you lead yourself on the training ground, how you speak to staff, how you speak to your teammates.
“I find it very hard to have a conversation about a player who doesn’t train properly.
“I just cannot understand it. I’m just up for that kind of debate.” More

Liverpool fans were relieved they managed to keep Salah among their ranks this term.
The Reds rejected a verbal offer worth up to £150million for the 31-year-old from Al-Ittiad at the end of August.
While talks about the Egyptian’s departure have died down Jurgen Klopp’s side are bracing themselves for another mega bid in January and next summer.
Meaning Klopp has been on the hunt for a replacement, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.

The report claims the Reds are considering a move to sign Juventus star Chiesa.
The claim comes a month after Corriere dello Sport said the Italy international would gladly accept a move to Anfield, with Juventus demanding a £43.5million fee.

Chiesa was one of the star players at the European Championships two years ago as his nation went on to win the competition – beating England on penalties in the final.
Unfortunately, the 25-year-old has spent most of the year on the sidelines after nursing various injuries.

According to a Calciomercato report from October 2021, Cristiano Ronaldo was a big admirer of Chiesa at the time and wanted United to make a move to sign him.
The pair played with each other at Juventus before the Portuguese superstar returned to Old Trafford for an ill-fated year-and-a-half spell.
Meanwhile, Klopp earlier this month insisted Salah was not going anywhere.
He said: “I’ve never had, and I don’t have now, doubts about his future, his commitment to this club.
“Believe me, you can’t imagine how much fuss the whole world makes and how calm we are with it.”

City are set to travel up North to Newcastle for their Carabao Cup clash – but they will take a coach there and back.
Unfortunately for City no trains were available and they were also unable to fly.
Speaking ahead of the game City boss Guardiola was fuming about the situation.
He said: “After the game, we cannot come back by plane because of a problem – something for the planes.

“We don’t have a plane to travel back, so we have to take a bus.
“It’s two or three hours later that we will arrive here – so, so late, arriving on Thursday.
“The day after, Friday, we travel to Wolves, so that’s what you have to think about.
“Then we go to Germany to play RB Leipzig in the Champions League next week.

“That’s a really important game for us, because we know what it means to be able to win there to qualify for the next stage.
“I don’t know what happened with the aeroplane. The team manager told me.
“It happened with the previous one, I think in London. It’s not a problem with the bus, but we will arrive much, much later than we expected, but it is what it is.”
The journey time by road from St James’ Park to the Etihad Stadium is 2hrs and 39mins.
One rival fan responded to Guardiola’s comments by calling it “the excuse of the season.”
While another rival fan said: “2-3 hours isn’t a long ride😂.”
A third added: “Pep’s playing the sympathy game again.”
City have enjoyed an exceptional start to the new season, as Guardiola’s side look to defend their Treble victory last year.

Townsend, 32, finds himself without a club after his Everton contract expired in June.
The winger has not played a game in 18 months following a devastating ACL injury.
Townsend came close to joining Championship winners Burnley after holding talks with Vincent Kompany.
But the Clarets pulled out of a deal to chase younger options, with Townsend admitting he was left in tears.

The ex-Newcastle and Crystal Palace man also saw moves to Turkey and Saudi Arabia fall through this month.
And the Mail claims Townsend is now back at Tottenham in a bid to keep his fitness levels up.
He joined the north Londoners as a kid in 2000 before making his pro debut nine years later.
Townsend went on to net 11 goals in 93 games before moving to Newcastle in 2015.

But there is no indication that Ange Postecoglou is planning to offer him a short-term deal.
Indeed, it’s reckoned Townsend is not actually working with the senior squad and is instead training with the Under-18s.
Opening up over his emotional Burnley rejection, Townsend told BBC Five Live: “It was probably one of the toughest conversations I’ve had in my career.
“If I was bad and knew I wasn’t going to get a contract I could prepare myself.
“But to be looking at houses, looking at schools, talking about squad numbers and then to be told the contract is no longer on offer, it rocked my world.
“The situation is I’ve not played a competitive match for 18 months so because of my age and lack of minutes English clubs can’t take that risk.
“I looked abroad and thought clubs would be desperate to sign a player of my experience but it was the same again, lack of minutes.
“That may change if results don’t go their way in the next few weeks. I’m waiting for the phone to ring now.” More

Man Utd legend Gary Neville reveals how Mikel Arteta is HURTING Arsenal on match days… including in Tottenham derby draw

GARY NEVILLE has blasted Mikel Arteta for hurting Arsenal on match days by being too emotional on the touchline. The Gunners were pegged back twice in the North London Derby and Neville believes that Arteta’s emotions were partially responsible for the draw against Tottenham.

Arsenal took the lead twice and were then quickly taken back to arch-rivals Spurs – who earned a deserved 2-2 draw at the Emirates through Son Heung-min’s double.
Arteta, who regularly strays away from the technical area, emotionally celebrated both goals for Arsenal.
The Man Utd legend believes the Spaniard’s players would benefit if he was more composed when his team scores.
Neville told his Sky Sports podcast: “I want to see a composure from this Arsenal team and that’s difficult because the manager’s on the sideline jumping around like you wouldn’t believe.

“I want to see passion, but I want to see composure and a coldness, and that feels like a contradiction.
“But I want to see it in the right moments at the right times. When they scored that second goal.
“Bukayo Saka’s penalty, which was a beautiful penalty, celebrate it, give your fans something because they want to see it means something.
“But there should be two or three senior players in that group saying, ‘Right, come on. Switch on now, we’re ready and we’re going to see this through’.

“Your mentality kicks in of knowing when a game’s in danger.”
The Arsenal boss has previously opened up about letting his emotions get the better of him.
But in January he vowed not to change his touchline behaviour just to appease critics.
Arteta said: “I hear a lot of times that this team is the mirror of the coach, or the passion – I don’t know.
“That’s me. I will always try to be better. Whatever I do, if it is tomorrow or the next day, is to make the club stronger, my players better, play better and win.” More

Wonderkid Liverpool transfer target, 18, reveals ‘Chelsea is my dream club… I’ve supported them since I was 8 years old’

WONDERKID and Liverpool transfer target Patrick Dorgu has revealed it is his dream to play for CHELSEA.The 18-year-old Lecce full-back only made his Serie A debut this season but Liverpool are long term admirers of the defender and are tracking his progress closely.

But in an interview with Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet, Dorgu said: “Chelsea is my dream to play for. I have been a fan of them for over 10 years, so it would be a huge dream to play for them.”
The interview may pique the interest of Chelsea’s hierarchy, who have targeted players under 25 as part of an aggressive transfer policy that has seen them spend over £1billion on players.
The club have also struggled at left-back this season, with Mauricio Pochettino opting to play centre-back Levi Colwill there in an attempt to provide defensive solidity.
The position looked to be nailed-on for vice-captain Ben Chilwell but he started the season playing in an advanced left wing position.

Chilwell has since been dropped from the team as Pochettino continues to tinker in an attempt to turn the club’s fortunes around.
The Blues also have Marc Cucurella and Ian Matsen on their books who can both play the position so are hardly under stocked in that area.
A more pressing issue for the Blues is signing a forward that can be relied upon to score consistently.
Nicolas Jackson has struggled to settle at The Bridge and has so far scored just one goal in his six Premier League appearances.

Frustration has clearly boiled over for the forward and his five yellow cards in six games means he will be suspended for Chelsea’s short trip to Fulham on Monday night.
Liverpool could be a more viable option for Dorgu as The Reds look to succession plan for Andy Robertson, 29.
Kostas Tsimikas was an option as a successor, but has so far looked to only be a back-up for Jurgen Klopp’s side rather than a potential permanent first-team fixture. More

In addition to a mixed bag of results, Ten Hag has also seen fit to exile Jadon Sancho from first team training.
The United boss banished the winger in the wake of their public war of words following Ten Hag’s decision to drop Sancho against Arsenal on September 3.
Yesterday the Mirror claimed that Sancho has been banned from using all first team facilities, including the canteen.
Ten Hag will not relent on his stance until he receives an apology from his player, with some United stars hopeful that their team-mate will say sorry and save his Old Trafford career.

Sun columnist Piers has been thoroughly unimpressed with the way Ten Hag has handled his stars.
Prior to last night’s League Cup clash with Crystal Palace, Morgan tweeted: “Ten Hag loves to humiliate his players.. whilst his own managerial failings continue to humiliate United.”
Morgan, 58, was also critical of Ten Hag’s treatment of his pal Cristiano Ronaldo last year.
He labelled the former Ajax boss a “clown” following Ronaldo’s explosive Old Trafford exit.

The Red Devils are ninth in the Premier League after six matches, having lost to Tottenham, Arsenal and Brighton.
They also began their Champions League campaign with a 4-3 defeat at Bayern Munich last week.
Ten Hag and Co did grab an important 3-0 League Cup win against Crystal Palace last night.
Goals by Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro and Anthony Martial sealed comfortable passage to the next stage for Man United.
The result followed Saturday night’s gritty 1-0 win over Burnley.
United will next be in action on Saturday when they host Crystal Palace again, this time in the Premier League.

Osimhen sparks Premier League transfer fight as he DELETES all but one mention of Napoli on social media amid legal row

VICTOR OSIMHEN has sparked a Premier League transfer fight. The in-demand striker has deleted all but one mention of Napoli on social media amid a brewing legal row.
Victor Osimhen could be set for a Premier League move amid a brewing legal row with NapoliCredit: Reuters
Napoli mocked Osimhen with a bizarre video on social media
And numerous Premier League clubs are sure to be interested if he’s on the move this winter.
Chelsea are in desperate need of a new striker and have earmarked a No9 for the January transfer window.
They are also looking at Ivan Toney but are aware the Brentford striker favours a move to rivals Arsenal.
The Gunners could be interested in Osimhen too, with super-fan Piers Morgan urging Mikel Arteta to make a move.

Manchester United are another club who were strongly linked with the Nigerian over the summer.
Erik ten Hag was keen on a move for Harry kane but in the end United stumped up £72million for Rasmus Hojlund.
However the chance to sign Osimhen might be too tempting, as he has 62 goals in 107 games for Napoli.
And Tottenham are in the market for a direct replacement for Harry Kane after his move to Bayern Munich in the summer.
    Most read in Football
Although they have started the season well under new boss Ange Postecoglou, Spurs are still missing a target man.
And they have the bulk of the £104m fee from Bayern still to spend.
Newcastle could be interested too as they look to make a real impact in the Champions League.
And they reportedly made a bid last January but it was turned down.
And Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has always shown he’s ready to enter the market for an exciting new forward.
Osimhen, 24, fired the Italians to Serie A title glory with 26 goals last term.
But Napoli have not started the new campaign well, winning just two of their opening five matches.
Their last match was a disappointing 0-0 draw at Bologna.
Osimhen, who missed a penalty, was left fuming after being dragged off by boss Rudi Garcia.
Osimhen’s stats last season for Napoli were amazing
He apologised for his behaviour afterwards.
But a row is brewing after Napoli posted several videos to social media appearing to mock Osimhen.
A now-deleted clip showed the forward demanding a penalty against Bologna with the caption “Gimme penalty please” before going on to miss it.
Another video bizarrely compared Osimhen to a coconut, with Napoli yet to acknowledge either clip.
And the hitman is now considering legal action, with his agent Robert Calenda tweeting a response.
He said: “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable.
“A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.
“A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.

“We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”
Osimhen’s time at Napoli could now be coming to an end, with the ace deleting all mention of the club from his social media accounts bar one photograph on Instagram. More
