The Colombian’s strike, which would have put the Reds in front, was wrongly ruled out for offside despite a VAR review.
Although the mistake has since been put down to “human error”, Liverpool’s outrage has prompted the Premier League to release the audio.
In addition, the PGMOL have issued a statement following their review, which reads: “PGMOL can confirm that we have carried out a review into the circumstances which led to the Luis Diaz goal being incorrectly disallowed for offside in the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur FC and Liverpool FC.
“We recognise standards fell short of expectations and acknowledged the error to Liverpool immediately after the conclusion of the fixture.

“A detailed report, including the key learnings and immediate actions taken, alongside the audio between the on-field officials and VAR team has been submitted to the Premier League, who have shared it with Liverpool FC and subsequently all other Premier League Clubs.
“The review of the on-field and VAR decision-making processes and application of the decision-making principles has identified the following key learnings to mitigate against the risk of a future error:
    – Guidance to Video Match Officials has always emphasised the need for efficiency, but never at the expense of accuracy. This principle will be clearly reiterated- A new VAR Communication Protocol will be developed to enhance the clarity of communication between the referee and the VAR team in relation to on-field decisions- As an additional step to the process, the VAR will confirm the outcome of the VAR check process with the AVAR before confirming the final decision to the on-field officials
“PGMOL are committed to enhancing VAR performance through a new training programme which started this season and focuses on process and best practice for all VARs, AVARs and Replay Operators in their specific roles. While we have a number of FIFA-recognised VARs, work is ongoing to create a dedicated pool of VAR specialists.

    Darren England: “Possible offside, Diaz.”
    Assistant Referee 2: “Give it.”
Assistant Referee 1: “Coming back for the offside, mate.”
England: “Just checking the offside. Delay, delay.”
England: “Give the kick point, let’s go. Kick point please?”
Simon Hooper: “Yeah, no worries mate.”
Replay Operator: “So, here we are.”
    Hooper: “Wait.”
Replay Operator: “Just get a tight angle.”
England: “Yeah, give me 2D line ready after this one for frame two after that.”
Replay Operator: “So frame two there?”
England: “That’s fine. Perfect, yeah. 2D line on the left boot.”
Replay Operator: “Let me just switch angles.”
England: “Romero, I think it is?”
Replay Operator: “I think it might be this angle better? Happy with this angle?”
    England: “Yep.”
Replay Operator: “2D line on the boot?”
England: “2D line on the boot.”
Replay Operator: “Yep, okay. So 2D line on the boot.”
England: “And stop. Check complete, check complete. That’s fine, perfect.”
    Assistant Referee 1: “Playing.”
    Hooper: “Cheers mate.”
    England: “Thank you mate.”
Hooper: “Well done boys, good process.”
Replay Operator: “Wait, wait, wait, wait. The on-field decision was offside. Are you happy with this?”
    Assistant VAR: “Yeah.”
Replay Operator: “Are you happy with this?”
Assistant VAR: “Offside, goal, yeah. That’s wrong that, Daz.”
    England: “What?”
Replay Operator: “On-field decision was offside. Are you happy with this image? Yeah, it’s onside. The image that we gave them is onside.”
Assistant VAR: “He’s played him, he’s gone offside.”
    England: “Oh (expletive).”
Replay Operator: “Delay, delay. Oli’s (PGMOL Hub Ops) saying to delay, Oli’s saying to delay.”
    England: “Pardon?”
Replay Operator: “Oli’s calling in to say delay the game. The decision is onside.”
    England: “Can’t do anything.”
Replay Operator: “Oli’s saying to delay, Oli’s saying to delay.”
    England: “Oli?”
    Fourth Official: “Yeah?”
Replay Operator: “Delay the game, to delay the game? Stop the game.”

Man Utd eye Everton star who nearly quit because his ‘knees were gone’ in shock transfer after Lisandro Martinez blow

The Argentina defender, 25, had returned to action after initial surgery in April.
But he experienced pain in his foot against Arsenal last month.
Martinez then played against Brighton and Bayern Munich before realising it wasn’t getting any better – as United confirmed he would go under the knife again.
Martinez is now set to be sidelined until the New Year as he tries to overcome the problem once and for all.

But, even if Martinez returns before then, his injury woes will force United into the market for a new centre-back in the January transfer window.
Toffees star Branthwaite is reported to be on Erik ten Hag’s radar, according to the Daily Mail.
But the defender, 21, has had his own share of injury concerns.
Branthwaite earlier this year opened up about suffering from a growing pains condition called Osgood-Schlatter.

And he admitted that he almost quit football at 16 as “his knees were gone.”
Harry Maguire’s future at the club remains in doubt while Raphael Varane’s fitness record means more depth is required.
The Everton ace will join Antonio Silva of Benfica, Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba on the Red Devils centre-back shortlist.
Branthwaite had a stellar season on loan from Everton at Dutch side PSV Eindhoven last term.
PSV wanted to buy him in a permanent deal this term, while Manchester City have been among the English clubs also keeping an eye on his progress.
Branthwaite is in talks with Everton over a new contract, but that is unlikely to deter interest in the player if he continues to shine. More

According to Bloomberg, FSG are seen as an alternative to a pending deal with the PIF.
There is said to be opposition in the USA to the PIF deal, despite PGA representatives claiming they would only be a minority investor.
The PIF also own Newcastle and have overseen the club’s transformation since their takeover in October 2021.
Newcastle secured a return to the Champions League last season with their highest league finish for 20 years.

As for the Liverpool owners, FSG have appeared keen to invest in golf recently.
As well as purchasing a Boston-based franchise in the Technology Golf League, FSG’s marketing arm – Fenway Sports Management – recently partnered with the LPGA.
However, the PGA Tour have already done business with Saudi Arabia.
Back in June, the tour agreed to a merger with Saudi-backed LIV Golf and the DP World Tour.

An additional report from The Boston Globe claims there are several rival bidders, though, with FSG one of six in North America alone.
In response, a statement from the PGA Tour explained: “Throughout 2023, the PGA TOUR has demonstrated its strength, reach and value as an enterprise.
“Our focus continues to be on finalising an agreement with the Public Investment Fund and the DP World Tour, however, our negotiations have resulted in unsolicited interest from other investors.” More

But he has claimed one individual display from a keeper left him in awe.
That was from Tottenham’s back-up shot-stopper Fraser Forster, 35, while he was in between the sticks for Celtic.
The Scottish giants faced Messi’s Barcelona in the Champions League in 2012.
And Celtic achieved an astonishing upset as goals from Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt handed Neil Lennon’s men a 2-1 victory.

Messi netted a consolation in stoppage time but could not help Barcelona avoid the group-stage defeat.
Much of the result was down to Forster’s heroics as Barcelona were left frustrated despite having 24 attempts at goal.
And Messi has now labelled that performance from the English keeper as a standout one in his career.
As reported by The Daily Star, he said: “The performances of Fraser Forster against us were talked about for a long time.

“There was one game in Scotland where he was not human, it is the best goalkeeping performance I have seen.
“When Victor Valdes said he was leaving we even talked about him playing here.
“I was sure he would end up at Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United.”
Forster, who also impressed in the return fixture at the Nou Camp in a 2-1 loss, left Celtic for Southampton in 2014 and enjoyed eight years on the South Coast.
During that spell, he returned to Celtic on loan for the 2019/20 season.
Then last year he joined Tottenham as back-up keeper to Hugo Lloris – where he has made 20 appearances to date.
Forster has also earned six England caps but has not played for the national side since 2016. More

Now the Manchester giants are said to be investigating in a bid to root out any possible moles.

The Red Devils fear those kinds of accounts could damage team unity and offer an advantage to their opponents.
A United insider told the Mail: “Preparation for games these days is so thorough that leaked information about team line-ups and injuries can give the opposition an advantage to exploit.
“United fans should be hounding out these accounts that routinely leak this kind of information, and questioning what is their motivation for doing it.”
United return to action tonight against Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Erik ten Hag’s are looking for their first European victory this season after losing 4-3 to Bayern Munich in Germany. More

A 96th minute own-goal from Joel Matip secured the win for Tottenham, who played against ten men from the 26th minute and just nine men for the final 20 minutes.
The result was overshadowed by a shocking VAR call which ruled out a perfectly legal strike from Liverpool forward Luis Diaz.
His goal would have put the visitors ahead going into the break.
But there was another flashpoint in the first half when Richarlison and Klopp reportedly clashed on the touchline.

Football London claims the pair got into it early on, issuing words to each other as a high-tempo game played out on the pitch.
The pair apparently went “back and forth” several times.
And after Curtis Jones received Liverpool’s first red card, Richarlison is said to have approached Klopp for some afters.
However, Tottenham boss Postecoglou reportedly intervened by telling Richarlison to move away.

The decision soon paid off, with the Brazilian teeing up Son Heung-Min for Spurs’ opener just ten minutes later.
Richarlison joined the Londoners from Everton last year for £60million.
He bagged just three goals and four assists in 35 matches, with most of his appearances coming from the bench.
But this season has started much better, with two goals and two assists in eight games under Postecoglou.
And with Spurs failing to sign a like-for-like replacement following Harry Kane’s £104m move to Bayern Munich, the door is open for the Brazil star to nail down a regular spot in the starting XI. More

Pochettino said: “I think it’s bad news.

Lampard, 45, oversaw a huge period of change at Stamford Bridge, first ushering in Chelsea youth stars like Reece James and Mason Mount during a transfer ban.
In 2020 Lampard was handed a raft of superstars like Timo Werner and Thiago Silva after a major spending splurge.
However, there was one player who ‘Super Frank’ admits he struggled to figure out.
Havertz, 24, was a £70million signing from Bayer Leverkusen who was seen by many as a No10.

He was used in a variety of different roles at Chelsea, ranging from up top to the wing and even in central midfield.
Havertz eventually parted way with the Blues in June, joining rivals Arsenal for £65m.

And Lampard admits his inability to figure out Havertz’s best role left him with a major “coaching problem.”
Lamps, who returned to Chelsea as caretaker manager earlier this year, told Sky Sports: “[My sacking] hurt a lot because we were working towards something and bringing in those players changed the aspects.

“When we brought players in I had different problems – coaching problems. What’s going to get the best out of Timo Werner, is he a No9?
“We’ve still got Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud. Kai Havertz, what’s his best position?
“It was a club recruitment policy, there were players I wanted. Ben Chilwell was big for me.”
Reflecting on his approach to transfers and handling new arrivals, Lampard added: “My situation was a mixture.
“Certain players I would be very keen to bring in and we did collaborate with Marina Granovskaia.
“Roman Abramovich was not present but you knew he was the overseeing power.
“There were certain players brought in as a club thing and you have to try and integrate them.
“I was surprised at how quick the feeling turned around in terms of how secure I felt at the club.” More
