That is because England have won four out of all their seven matches against the Socceroos, who have only emerged victorious once.
The Aussies’ one and only victory took place in 2003 during another friendly that took place at the Boleyn Ground.
International friendlies are rarely an important occasion, but this one was special as that was when Wayne Rooney made his debut.
Rooney went on to make history by breaking Sir Bobby Charlton’s record and becoming England’s all-time leading goalscorer with 53 goals in 120 appearances.

The Manchester United legend held on to that record for eight years until Harry Kane overtook him in March.
However, things got off on the wrong foot for the then Everton wonderkid as Sven-Goran Eriksson’s men lost 3-1.
Australia led by two goals thanks to Anthony Popovic’s header and Harry Kewell’s strike.
Francis Jeffers then put England back in the game in his one and only cap.

And a similar arrangement for Phillips, 27, could well appeal to all parties.
City told the £42million ex-Leeds man in the summer they would be willing to let him out on loan but he chose to fight for his place with the Treble winners.
Three Lions skipper Harry Kane is already at the Allianz Arena and would welcome the arrival of another Englishman.
Kane joined Bayern in a £104m transfer from Tottenham in August.

WEST HAM star Tomas Soucek is being lined up by Italian giants Inter Milan ahead of a possible free transfer at the end of the season, according to reports in Italy. The Czech midfielder’s contract expires in June 2024 but West Ham do have an option to extend it by another year.
Soucek has undergone a positive start to the seasonCredit: Rex
Corriere dello Sport report that West Ham will not activate the clause should Soucek make it clear that he wants to leave and that could see him join Inter on a free.
The Milan club have been active in the free agency market in recent years, bringing in Marcus Thuram, Davy Klaasen and Juan Cuadrado as free agents this summer.
In the past they have also brought in the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Andre Onana and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Inter manager Simone Inzaghi is keen to add some steel to the Inter midfield and Soucek fits the bill as a player that can not only provide solidity but score goals too.

The Czech Republic international has four goals and one assist in his 10 games for West Ham so far this season in all competitions.
The midfielder has also scored in The Hammers’ last two games against Sheffield United and Newcastle.
Soucek has undergone a revival this season after The Hammers lost Declan Rice to Arsenal in a £100million deal.
The absence of Rice has allowed Soucek to get forward again and return a similar amount of goals as he last did in the 2020/21 season.

Since joining West Ham in January 2020, Soucek has made 165 appearances for West Ham, scoring 26 goals and becoming a fans’ favourite at The London Stadium.
Inter have won the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup in Inzaghi’s two seasons in charge – as well as reaching last year’s Champions League final which they lost to Manchester City.
Their quest for their first Scudetto since Antonio Conte led them to victory in 2021 got off to the perfect start, with the club winning their opening five games.
But they have won just one of their three games since then and go into the international break off the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Bologna. More

A man named Foster Washington, also known as rapper Killa Fame, took credit for reuniting Sturridge with his dog.
However, he then claimed that he never received the promised reward and subsequently launched a civil lawsuit.
In December 2021, a Los Angeles court ordered the former Liverpool star to pay $30,000 (£24,400) after he failed to respond to the initial complaint.
Sturridge was called back to court last month, but the Daily Mail have reported that he did not attend.

He has now been served a bench warrant – a summons issued by a judge to arrest a defendant and bring them before court.
A new hearing has been set for November 30.
Sturridge’s representatives did not respond to The Mail for comment.
The ex-Liverpool striker, who left Anfield in 2019, claimed that he paid a reward after a court hearing in 2021.

He tweeted: “Just to let you know the truth at Christmas. I met a young boy who found my dog and paid him a reward, which he was delighted with, as was I to get my dog back because he was stolen.
“Other people are trying to benefit for their own personal gain. Thank you to the young boy once again. I’m very grateful Lucci is back with our family.”
However, Washington told The Mail: “For me, it’s a point of principle. He promised me the money. It’s a substantial amount of money that could change my family’s life.
“He thinks he is above the law. He thinks because he’s rich he doesn’t have to respond to what’s going on. That’s why I had to have the judge issue a warrant so he has to pay the money.”
Sturridge has not played professional football since leaving Perth Glory in 2022.
At the beginning of this season, he was named as a new Sky Sports pundit.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham trolled for ‘abomination’ map that puts Brentford by SCOTLAND in documentary

FANS have reacted to the ‘abomination’ of a map that appears in Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s ‘welcome to Wrexham’ documentary. The map showed Brentford as a club located on the border of SCOTLAND.

There was some seriously interesting geography going on in the Welcome to Wrexham documentaryCredit: TWITTER

Brentford, of course, are based in West London with rival fans often joking the club is “just a bus stop in Hounslow.”
The club alluded to this in a tweet they posted and wrote: “We’re just a bus stop in Hexham. We have questions @WrexhamFX.”
Brentford weren’t the only victim of the documentary’s awful grasp of football geography, however.
Liverpool were moved to the Welsh border with Everton playing in the North East of Wales itself.

And Cardiff and Swansea’s rivalry was rebranded as a Devon vs Cornwall rivalry.
QPR and Stoke City were also uprooted and moved to playing their football on the Welsh border.
Nottingham Forest play on the east coast with Stevenage being relocated to play their football alongside Portsmouth.
Arsenal and Watford are the only clubs in London apparently with Arsenal relocating back to the south of the river.

Northernly Newcastle are also moved to the south west of Leeds.
Fans were appalled by just how wrong the map was, with one saying: “What in the f*** is this? Did the person responsible for this map have a brain? @WrexhamFX”

Another wrote: “What is this map based off and who made it? I have so many questions about this particular area” – with the picture honed in on Brentford and Blythe Spartans as England’s most northernly teams.
Another user joked: “Always said the Blyth Spartans vs Brentford was the most feared derby in football.”
A fourth fan wrote: “Wrexham will never overtake Everton as the biggest club in Wales.” More
