Crystal Palace ‘braced for club record bid’ from Premier League rivals for Marc Guehi – but Chelsea could hamper deal

MANCHESTER UNITED could be set to launch a bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, according to reports.England star Guehi, 23, has been integral to the Eagles’ back line since he joined from Chelsea in 2021.

And he is now attracting interest from a big-name Premier League club.
According to South London Press, Man Utd could make a play for the centre-back in the summer.
If they are to acquire the defender, it is understood he will cost in excess of the £50million the Red Devils paid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka four years ago.
That means Palace would receive a club-record fee for Guehi.

However, Man Utd face competition from the Palace star’s former club, Chelsea.
That is because the Blues hold matching rights on any offer Palace accept for their man.
Guehi has made 91 appearances for the West London club since joining two years ago.
He has formed an impressive partnership alongside Joachim Andersen.

He has also earned six England caps and started both of the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 qualifiers in September.
He was also included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for this month’s games against Australia and Italy.
And he would be a welcome addition to Man Utd’s squad.
Erik ten Hag has suffered injury blows to Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane at the start of the season.
It has left him relying on Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
Man Utd have lost six of their opening 11 games in all competitions. More

Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma ‘wanted in life-changing transfer’ after ‘seducing’ Champions League giants

BRIGHTON star Kaoru Mitoma’s stunning performances have earned him interest from one of Europe’s biggest clubs.Mitoma burst on to the scene last season with seven goals and six assists in 33 appearances in the Premier League.

The winger is kicking it up a notch this term with three goals and four assists in 11 matches across all competitions.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have been “seduced” by the 26-year-old’s exploits with the Seagulls.
In fact, Barca’s scouts and staff are most amazed with the Japan international out of all of their other transfer targets.
Mitoma has won the Blaugrana over thanks to the way he breaks defences from the left wing.

And Barcelona manager Xavi lacks firepower on that side of the field with full-back Alejandro Balde having to do the heavy lifting in LaLiga and the Champions League.
The Spanish tactician has plenty of choices for the right wing with the likes of Raphinha , Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal available.
But the Spanish champions are confident Mitoma is their answer for the left.
However, a move in January is highly unlikely as the Japanese star’s contract runs out in 2025.

But a summer bid is very possible, especially if Mitoma doesn’t pen fresh terms with Brighton.
That would force Roberto De Zerbi’s side to discuss a deal as they would lose him for free the year after.
Nevertheless, Brighton are notoriously tough negotiators, who recently sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for a Premier League record £115million fee. More

Fabregas chose treble winners Manchester City, old team Arsenal and Brighton as the teams he enjoys watching the most.
He was full of praise for the Seagulls, even comparing them to the Gunners side he played in under Arsene Wenger.
“It’s the way they understand the game,” Fabregas told The Mirror.
“They know when to slow it down, when to quicken up, when to find the right spaces. They know the right timing of when to attract players and to then accelerate.”

Fabregas believes that Brighton’s “quick, sharp football” is similar to how Arsenal played during his time in North London.
He added: “If you press them high they will get you in behind, if you press them low they’ll keep playing short and find spaces. It’s very interesting and De Zerbi is someone I’m learning so much from.”
As for his former club Arsenal, the 36-year-old explained: “Arsenal use that 3-1-3-3 formation – which is six players in front of the ball.
“It’s about the coach trusting their defenders to be quicker, faster and recover the ball. Then they can play a little bit more attacking football.

“But you could see the difference when Saliba was playing and got injured [last season]. Mikel will tell you himself that it’s not the same way they can play.”
Fabregas played under Wenger at Arsenal for seven years, winning the FA Cup before leaving for Barcelona in 2011.
He later returned to the Premier League with Chelsea and won five major trophies with the Blues, including two league titles and the Europa League.
After spells with Monaco and Como, Fabregas retired at the end of last season and is now under-19 boss at the latter. More

Sunderland played six seasons in the Premier League during Murray’s tenure before he sold the club in 2006.
During that time, he also oversaw the building of the Stadium of Light.
However, he has now revealed that he was once suspected of being the Yorkshire Ripper.
The Yorkshire Ripper, alater identified as Peter Sutcliffe, murdered 13 women between 1975 and 1980.

Having kept quiet on the matter for over 40 years, Murray has now explained he was interviewed by West Yorkshire Police three times in 1979.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he recalled: “I was already courting with my now-wife Sue but imagine trying to pull girls in Yorkshire if you had a Wearside accent… Jesus Christ.
“At the time, there was fear. The police were useless. They had so many chances to get him. Then this idiot came on from Wearside…”

“I was a 32-year-old male, with the accent, living and working in West Yorkshire, with a hammer in my car boot!” he added.
“My dad gave me the hammer in case I needed to change a tyre.”
As for his aunty’s involvement in tipping him off to the cops, the last officers to visit Murray had been from Sheffield, where she lived at the time.
He continued: “I managed to keep the hammer. It had sentimental value. Even though you’re innocent, you feel it, being accused.
“I didn’t get put in a cell. But I got three “sessions”. And I knew it was my Aunty Sylvia who shopped me in!”
The Yorkshire Ripper was eventually caught in 1981, with HGV driver Sutcliffe convicted of the murders and sentenced to 20 concurrent life sentences.
After selling Sunderland, Murray was made the club’s honorary life president by the new owners.
He was knighted in the 2010 Birthday Honours for services to football and education in the North East and has been the chancellor of Leeds Beckett University since 2012. More
