Sheikh Jassim is understood to have submitted a £5billion offer to purchase United – which he has now withdrawn after months of stalemate.
Rival bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to buy a 25 per cent stake in the club for around £1.4billion.
And Sheikh Jassim could turn his attention to Spurs, report The Mirror.
The Lilywhites had received interest from Paris Saint-Germain owners Qatar Sports Investments (QSI).

PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi is believed to have played a role in Sheikh Jassim’s proposed United bid, and the pair could link up once again to discuss a move for Tottenham.
Qatar have held a long-term interest in the North London club while Sheikh Jassim has always eyed Spurs as an alternative to United should his bid fail, which it now has.
It is unclear whether Spurs chiefs Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis would entertain offers for the club.
However, they are under pressure from unhappy supporters.

Meanwhile United senior staff are shocked by the takeover U-turn.
Club employees had been gearing up for a full buy-out of the club this month by Sheikh Jassim.
A number had even been told not to book any annual leave for this month to help see the takeover through.

Meetings were still going on last week to try and rescue the Qatari bid which was for a 100 per cent sale at £5billion
It is understood a number of the six strong Glazer family who are on the club board were happy to sell.
But co-chairman Joel Glazer, who was in control of the process, was the one wanting to either keep a majority shareholding or accept an increased bid of £6bn. More

Chelsea fans reckon Noni Madueke is ‘better than Saka’ as winger scores screamer in England U21s’ defeat to Ukraine

CHELSEA fans reckon Noni Madueke is “better than Bukayo Saka.”That’s after the Chelsea winger scored a screamer in England U21s’ defeat to Ukraine.

Lee Carsley’s Young Lions slipped to their first qualifier defeat on the road for 12 years with a 3-2 defeat on Monday.
The England U21s boss has urged his fresh-faced stars to lick their wounds and come back stronger – sooner rather than later.
But Madueke left Chelsea fans smiling as he netted another top-level goal ahead of Saturday’s crunch clash against Arsenal.
In front of around 3,000 fans in Kosice, Slovakia, the Ukrainians took a shock 2-0 half-time lead against the reigning U21 Euros champions through Nazar Voloshyn and Oleh Ocheretko.

Madueke grabbed one back in the 67th minute before Leeds defender Charlie Cresswell nodded in an 89th minute equaliser – briefly salvaging a point.
And Chelsea supporters hailed Madueke on Twitter, with one saying: “This guy is better than Saka and it’s not an unpopular opinion.”
Another declared: “Saka this, Martinelli that, we have Madueke fully fit for Saturday.”
After grabbing their second, Carlsey’s men poured forward looking for a winner, only to be done on the counter in the fourth minute of stoppage time thanks to Ilya Kvasnytsya’s curling strike.

It was a goal that sent Ukraine to the top of Group F after three games – three points clear of second-placed England, who saw an eight-game winning streak come to an end.
The last time England’s U21s lost away from home in a qualifying match was in 2011 under Stuart Pearce, with Jordan Henderson featuring in that 2-1 setback in Belgium.
Carsley, 49, said: “This could potentially be a really good lesson for us to help the group over the next couple of years.
“We have spoken about how you respond when you lose. The way they responded in the second half was very good. You could see they wanted to score again to win the game.
“But, we ended up losing. That’s frustrating but I want the team to attack. I felt like we could have got a winning goal.
“I’d rather us try and win the game. I am now looking forward to our next camp. It gave some of the players a good idea of what football at this level looks like.”
Up next for Carsley’s side next month is a trip to Serbia’s U21s – having beaten them 9-1 at the City Ground last week – before hosting Northern Ireland’s U21s at Goodison Park.

But Alan Shearer hit back, saying squads are now large enough to deal with the workloadCredit: Youtube – the rest is football podcast
“We keep having to play more and more games. We as players should start saying something about it, contribute to a solution.”
The centre-back was then asked by Dutch media whether he would be willing to give up 10% of his salary if he were to play less games and responded: “No.”
When pressed on the issue he said: “I don’t think having to play less games depends on my salary?”
The defender was criticised how new competitions such as The Nations League and an expanded Club World Cup is putting too much demand on players and causing additional injury.

He has been joined in the calls for players to play less by the likes of Manchester United defender Raphael Varane.
Shearer responded to Van Dijk’s comments on his podcast, The Rest is Football, which he appears on alongside Gary Lineker and Micah Richards.
The former Newcastle striker said: “Nonsense. Nonsense. Players are playing too much football? What? I mean come on.
“I know you should never mention the money, but you’ve got bigger squads than ever, more substitutes than ever, getting paid more money than ever, you’ve got the best physios, the best technology, the best of everything.

Van Dijk has appeared in seven of Liverpool’s eight Premier League games this season, playing 90 minutes in six of them.
He was sent off after just 28 minutes in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle in August for the denial of a goal scoring opportunity and received a one game suspension.

Chelsea risk losing Ian Maatsen to Champions League giants on free transfer.. months after £32million deal collapsed

CHELSEA are at risk of losing Ian Maatsen to Champions League giants next summer for FREE – just months after a £32million deal with Burnley collapsed. The Dutch left-back has struggled for game time this term even after being granted a starring role in the Blue’s pre-season squad.

Maatsen had an impressive performance last season while out on loan at Burnley.
The 21-year-old made 42 appearances for Vincent Kompany’s side as they coasted through to Championship promotion.
New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino handed Maatsen a key role in the squad during pre-season.
The club surprisingly accepted a £31.5million bid from Burnley for the youngster on deadline day.

But Maatsen turned down the move to Turf Moor – and he made it clear on social media that he wasn’t going anywhere.
However, once the Premier League campaign began Maatsen has been pushed back to the sidelines and has featured just 83 minutes across eight games.
Despite left-back Ben Chilwell being absent due to a hamstring injury, Maatsen is still not in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI.
Instead, Levi Colwill a centre-back by trade has switched to play in Chilwell’s position.

And according to the Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona are exploring their options of signing Maatsen at the end of the season.
The report claims boss Xavi Hernandez will make a final decision on the Netherlands U21 international in January.
Marcos Alonso’s contract expires next summer and with his future at Blaugrana uncertain the Catalan giants are exploring their left-back choices.
With Maatsen’s contract also set to run out in June 2024 a move to Barcelona may be favourable for the Dutchman.
This means Pochettino risks losing the highly-rated star for free.
Poch appeared to be a big fan of the left-back a few months back as he said: “I am so happy with him. He is a player that can play in different positions.
“He has quality, he understands the game, and he is such a clever player.
“So far, he is in my plan, yes. I am so pleased with him, as I’ve said, because of his attitude, commitment and his understanding of the game.” More
