    Howe to derail the Gunners
Newcastle managed to beat Arsenal in this fixture last season, getting at their opponents and pressing high up the pitch.
It will be a full house, as ever, and if they can get the fans off their seats early on it will be a cauldron of noise for The Gunners to deal with.
They will take some confidence in how West Ham managed to breach the Arsenal defence so much in the week, as did Chelsea in the Premier League recently.
    Spaniard unhappy with fringe chances
Mikel Arteta gave some of his fringe players the chance to impress in the cup this week but they let him down as his side were beaten 3-1 by West Ham.
As a result, the manager is likely to go back to his usual starting line-up today.
Still without the services of Gabriel Jesus, the chance presents itself for Eddie Nketiah to continue to impress up front.
Magpies looking to build on Carabao victory
Having won at Old Trafford in emphatic style, Eddie Howe will be keen for his side to dent the hopes of Arsenal’s title challenge.
St James’ Park is always a tough place to travel, only Liverpool seem to have the knack of coming away with all three points here.
Having lost many of their opening games, victory over Mikel Arteta’s side would make a big statement on their season ahead.
    Welcome to Newcastle vs Arsenal
Eddie Howe’s side welcome Arsenal to St James’ Park as they look to end The Gunners’ unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
Matt Targett suffered an injury in the Carabao Cup midweek and will not be available as he joins Javier Manquillo, Lewis Miley, Alexander Isak, Sven Botman, Elliot Anderson, Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes in the rather crowded Magpies’ treatment room.
Added to that, they are without the services of Sandro Tonali until next season now.
From the side that played at Old Trafford, Bruno Guimaraes, Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson are all expected to return to the starting line-up.
Mikel Arteta lost Emile Smith-Rowe in their midweek adventures as the unlucky 23-year-old will spend a few weeks out due to a knee problem.
Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus are expected to spend a number of weeks out injured also, while Jurrien Timber is on the long road back from his ACL injury.
Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Declan Rice and William Saliba are all expected to return to the starting XI.
Despite playing against West Ham in midweek, Aaron Ramsdale is expected to may way to David Raya as The Gunners return to league action. More

He enjoyed incredible success in the Spanish capital, but nearly cut short his stay to move to Old Trafford.
Ramos, 37, has never played in the Premier League during his illustrious career.
But he claims to be a big fan of the competition, even adding that his dad supports United.
Asked about his potential move to Old Trafford nine years ago, Ramos said: “Yes, I was close to playing for United.

“My father is a great fan of that team, but I stayed where I should, Real Madrid.

Ramos penned a two-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain after leaving Real in 2021, before returning to boyhood club Sevilla earlier this year – 18 years after leaving for Madrid.
On his delight at being home, having snubbed a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, he added: “Sevilla gave me everything. They trained me as a footballer, to be able to play for the first time in the First Division, and since then there is something that I feel from within.
“I have felt these colours. When I was asked to return home, this was my first option because I wanted to return to close a cycle. I wanted to see that all the love I feel for people is reciprocated.
“It has been an unforgettable moment for me and this is something I would recommend to anyone who started his career in his hometown.
“I am enjoying it every day, every training session and every game.”

Fulham 0 Man Utd 1: Bruno Fernandes scores late winner to hand Red Devils much-needed win after dismal recent form

BRUNO FERNANDES rescued another wretched week for Manchester United with a stoppage-time winner.Until Fernandes’ late strike beat Bernd Leno, Erik ten Hag’s team were set to be going home grateful for Andre Onana’s second-half heroics.

Yet another late winner at least provided further proof of United’s character.
But for 90 minutes the quality and desire you would expect was lacking in a display every bit as bad as the derby defeat by City and the Carabao Cup humbling by Newcastle.
Fulham were left to rue the poor defending that let Fernandes have a sight of goal and the two brillilant saves that Onana made.
Because apart from the goal United spent much of the game looking as dazed and confused as poor Harry Maguire who took a nasty knock on the head in the first minute and was later forced to leave the field.

Before that, Maguire found himself responsible for Scott McTominay’s early “goal” being disallowed.
McTominay had turned the ball home from Alejandro Garnacho’s cross but after more than three minutes of faffing around, referee John Brooks agreed with VAR Jarred Gillett.
Maguire had gone for the ball (without touching it) having started in an offside position from Christian Eriksen’s free-kick and that’s enough these days to kill some joy.
It was the only real talking point of the half.

United had most of the ball but resorted to pumping it long fairly often. Fulham were happy to sit back and play on the break, with Willian their most dangerous outlet.
But apart from one blocked shot by the Brazilian and his cross that almost found Harry Wilson at the back post, the home side did not really threaten.
After McTominay’s “goal”, United did not have another shot on target for 25 minutes, when Fernandes’ tame effort was easily saved by Bernd Leno

It summed up a very mediocre 45 minutes of football.
United came out after the break with a bit more intent and Antony worked Leno twice.
But after that Fulham did everything but score and would have done but for Onana.
First the United goalkeeper changed direction in mid-air to keep out Wilson’s rasping effort.
Then he stood tall to push away Joao Palhinha’s close-range thump, with Diogo Dalot clearing off the line soon afterwards.
All United could muster in response was a tame shot by substitute Facundo Pellistri.
Ten Hag threw on Anthony Martial and Mason Mount for the closing stages.

Fernandes at last tested Leno with a dipping free kick and then came his moment.
Fulham wasted chances to clear and the United captain eventually took a shot that Leno could only help into the net.

So he witnessed Bergkamp’s incredible technical ability first-hand.
Now he sees similarities with Chelsea’s new £42.5million versatile forward.
Cole Palmer has earned plenty of plaudits for his performances since arriving from Manchester City and shone in the recent 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
And it is the way he can unpick defences that has particularly impressed Merson.

The Sky Sports pundit said: “When [Chelsea] face teams who don’t give them any space, they’ve only got Cole Palmer who can break anybody down.
“He was outstanding the other day [against Brentford].
“He was like the Dennis Bergkamp of Arsenal for Chelsea, the amount of opportunities he made.”
Palmer, 21, came through the youth ranks at the Etihad but, with first-team opportunities limited, made the shock switch to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

It has not all been plain sailing off the pitch for Palmer, who admitted he needed help to use a washing machine in his new place in London.
However, on the pitch, he has been a sensation.
The England Under-21 star, who can play in various attacking roles, has chipped in with two goals and three assists for his new team.
One of those goals came when he slotted a penalty away against the Gunners after rowing with Raheem Sterling to take it.
And he will be hopeful he can make a splash again on Monday when Chelsea travel across the capital to face high-flying Tottenham.
Merson, though, believes Mauricio Pochettino’s men can spring a surprise against his former team – despite their completely different fortunes so far this season – and Palmer could be key.
    ‘DIFFERENT CLASS’
Chelsea are slumped down in 11th with four defeats from ten matches while unbeaten Spurs top the table by two points.
Merson added: “Against both Liverpool and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea were the better side in both games.
“Both teams had a go at Chelsea and that’s why I feel the trip to Tottenham could be perfect for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
“It’s game on for the Blues on Monday night. There is no question that Spurs will have a go at Chelsea.
“He was brilliant against Arsenal and if he can reach that level again, he’ll cause Spurs problems on the break.
“Cole Palmer brings the guile and he was different class in the first half against Brentford.
