And rowdy Copenhagen fans did their best to get inside the head of Red Devils stopper Onana from the get-go.
But the Cameroonian stood firm, deliberately walking to their end to check the goalposts – even giving them a cheeky wave back as tension began to build in the stadium.
BBC reporter John Southall said: “You can hear the boos in the stadium and that’s because the Manchester United goalkeepers have come out to warm up
“About half-an-hour ago he came out on his own, the stand on my left was already full of vociferous Copenhagen supporters, he marched towards the goal at that end, he chose that end.

“He got to the goal, he walked along the goal line. He walked back across the goal line, you can imagine the reception he got, he touched the post, he waved at the fans and he walked off.
    “Very, very brave man.”
Ex-United defender Steve Bruce added: “He’s got a bit of character about him that’s why I think everyone quite likes him and want him to do well.”
Onana was brought in for £47million from Inter Milan after Old Trafford legend David de Gea’s contract ran out.

But the former Ajax man has suffered inconsistent form with mistakes costing United points.
He has maintained the backing of manager Erik ten Hag as the club look to turn their season around.
Onana said: “We have great players, young players, who bring a lot of energy and team spirit. They fight.
“Today it was important for us to win, when you’re playing for Manchester United you always have to try and win. they came in, they did a very good job and I’m very happy for them.
“”Now it’s time to focus on the next game – it’s going to be a fight there but we are Manchester United, we’re going to be ready for them.”

Premier League clubs on transfer red alert after Real Madrid sensationally ‘RULE OUT move for Kylian Mbappe’

REAL MADRID have sensationally ruled out a swoop for Kylian Mbappe, according to reports. The Spanish giants have been strongly linked with the Frenchman throughout the last two summer transfer windows.
Real Madrid have reportedly abandoned a swoop for Kylian MbappeCredit: Rex
In 2022 Los Blancos felt that they had sealed a deal to sign him, only for Mbappe to shock them by signing a two-year extension with PSG.
Mbappe, 24, is once again in the final year of his deal at Parc des Princes.
He has been widely expected to this time sign for Real Madrid.
But according to Spanish outlet Cadena Ser, the LaLiga side will NOT be making a move for him.

They claim that Real Madrid deem Mbappe’s salary demands to be too high.
It’s reported that the France forward would demand at least £330,000 a week to move to Madrid.
By contrast, Jude Bellingham is claimed to earn £150k a week.
The report also claims that Mbappe will be TOO OLD for Madrid chiefs’ liking.

He is set to turn 25 next month, with Real Madrid having prioritised big-money swoops for younger players in recent windows.
It’s also claimed that Madrid bosses are wary of a fan backlash against Mbappe.
Many supporters were left upset by Mbappe’s decision to renew his deal with PSG two summers ago.
Asked for comment after his side’s 3-0 Champions League win over Braga this evening, coy Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said: “No comment. I won’t answer this about Mbappe.”
Madrid’s stance is set to put Premier League teams on red alert.
Liverpool reportedly believe that they could complete a sensational deal after six years of talks with Mbappe’s camp.
Manchester United, Newcastle and Chelsea would also be likely to covet a deal.
While another extension at PSG has not yet been ruled out. More

Premier League clubs set to vote on January transfer rule change that would be a huge blow to Newcastle

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs are set to vote on a huge rule change ahead of the January transfer window. And should it go through, the laws would be a big blow for Newcastle.

Premier League clubs are prepared to vote on a proposal to ban loans between associated clubs with the same owners.
The report claims the 20 top-flight sides may fast-track the new temporary legislation at the next shareholders meeting on November 21.
A minimum of 14 votes are required from the 20 clubs – a two-thirds majority – in order to pass the new rule through immediately.
That would be enough to cover the January window before a long-term solution is found in time for the summer.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
The idea is that the Premier League want to protect the integrity of the competition.
The suggested rule is not explicitly being put forward to stop Ruben Neves from joining Newcastle on loan – although that would be a deal in jeopardy.
Both the Toon and Al-Hilal are majority-owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
As things stand, there is nothing preventing a club signing a player and then loaning or even selling the same individual to one of their other teams when the transfer market reopens.

And that means Al-Hilal, who signed Neves from Wolves for £47million in the summer, could strike a deal with Newcastle to allow the Portuguese midfielder to move to St James’ Park in 2024.
The Magpies are on the hunt for a midfielder after flagship summer transfer Sandro Tonali was banned for ten months for betting offences.
Premier League bosses have been privately lobbied by some club chiefs after the potential of Newcastle landing the Portuguese star on loan was reported by SunSport last month.
League chiefs will point to the adoption of the demand for “fair market value” in all related party transactions – including permanent transfers and sponsorship deals – as the blueprint.
It is felt that the current exclusion of similar measures for loans is an anomaly that should be removed.
The Premier League outlines related parties as having “material influence over the club or (being) an entity in the same group of companies as the club”.
It adds that their discretion is based on the “substance of the relationship and not merely the legal form”.
Newcastle and four Saudi clubs including Al-Hilal would meet that criteria.
Manchester City would, too, with the other clubs in the City Football Group, including surprise LaLiga leaders Girona, Palermo and New York City.

Brighton are linked with Belgian side Union Saint Gilloise while Chelsea and Strasbourg have the same owners.
So that could lead to a possible backlash from some clubs – although the 14-vote threshold is expected to be met. More

Rasmus Hojlund’s brother Emil throws gauntlet down to Man Utd ace as he scores AGAINST Red Devils for FC Copenhagen

RASMUS HOJLUND’S brother Emil scored AGAINST Manchester United for FC Copenhagen. Hojlund and his United team-mates travel to Denmark needing a win to keep their Champions League knockout hopes alive.
Rasmus Hojlund’s brother Emil scored against Man Utd U19s
But beforehand, the two clubs met in an Under-19 match where the striker’s 18-year-old brother Emil scored.
The forward pulled one back to make it 2-1 from the penalty spot after Ethan Williams and Ethan Wheatley put United ahead.
So fans demanded £72million man Hojlund return the favour in the senior clash.
One said: “We need Rasmus to score tonight instead.”

Another added: “We need to respond.”
One joked: “Hojlund better recreate tonight.”
All three of Hojlund’s goals have come in Europe this season since his move from Atalanta.
Heading into the away trip to his former side Copenhagen, the Dane received public backing from his manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag said: “He has scored three goals in the Champions League already, which is very good for an integration period.
“I think as a team we can be better in possession so we can create more and better chances and that will also give our offensive players more opportunities to score goals.
“What we have to work on is a stable starting XI or at least 12 or 13 players and then the routines will be better and we will create better chances.
“But as I said, social-wise, I think he has integrated very good in the team and in the club.
“From a football perspective, he has already scored three goals in the Champions League which is a very good performance and from here on he has to take it on and improve.
“That is the character of Rasmus. He wants to improve every day so it is lovely to work with him, with such characters.”

The five most reckless players in the Premier League so far with Tottenham hot-head Udogie beaten to top spot

THE five most reckless players in the Premier League so far have been revealed. But Tottenham hot-head Destiny Udogie does NOT take the top spot despite seeing red against Chelsea this week.
Destiny Udogie is the second most reckless player in the Premier League this seasonCredit: Getty
The Italian left-back was lucky to not be sent off early on in Spurs’ 4-1 defeat for a two-footed lunge at Raheem Sterling.
Udogie escaped a VAR check with just a yellow card.
But he received a second booking later on for another ugly challenge on Sterling, resulting in his first-ever Premier League red.
Boffins at BettingOdds.com have now calculated that Udogie has been the second most-reckless player in the top flight so far this season.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Devising a points-based system, Udogie clocked in with a massive score of 33 thanks to his one red card, three yellows and 22 fouls.
Each red is worth five points, each yellow is worth two, and each foul is worth one.
But Udogie was pipped to top spot by Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who rules the roost with 36 points.
The Argentina World Cup winner has also been sent off this season.

The top-flight’s most reckless aces so far this term
And he’s received two more yellows than Udogie.
But despite committing one foul fewer, Mac Allister is a whole three points clear of the Italian.
In third place is West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta, who has clearly abandoned his silky Samba skills for the dark arts.
Marvelous Nakamba is fourth in the list after using his physicality to lift Luton Town out of the relegation zone.
And Conor Gallagher is showing why he’s one of Mauricio Pochettino’s favourites by coming fifth with his dogged performances.

Conor Gallagher also features alongside Lucas Paqueta and Marvelous NakambaCredit: Alamy
To qualify for the list, all players must have featured in at least 10 Premier League matches this season.
And as a result, a list of the five least reckless players has been devised as well.
Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen, Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven and Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko all have a clear sense of fair play.
And Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins only appears to be concerned with goals, coming second on the list with just two fouls.

But it’s Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga who has been the least reckless player this season.
With zero bookings and zero reds to his name, as well as just one foul, he tops the squeaky clean list with just one single point. More

But, with Aaron Ramsey still out injured, the Wales captain leads Robert Page’s 23-man squad for the crunch Euro 2024 qualifiers against Armenia and Turkey this month.
Two wins for the Dragons would seal their spot at the Germany finals next summer.
Davies missed the chaotic 4-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday night which has left Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou with a severely depleted defence ahead of the trip to Wolves on Saturday.
Cristian Romero is suspended following his first-half red card against the Blues while centre-back partner Micky Van de Ven appeared to pull his hamstring before the half-time break.

First-choice left-back Destiny Udogie is also banned after his second half dismissal which will place more reliance on back-ups including Davies if he is fit enough to play at Molineux.
Postecoglou turned to Eric Dier and Emerson Royal against Chelsea in a bid to plug the gaps but the Aussie boss will hope Davies can provide another option at a time of need.
Davies’ Tottenham team-mate Brennan Johnson returns for Wales after missing the superb 2-1 victory over Croatia last month.
Johnson had a hamstring injury but the £47.5million summer signing looked a real threat in his first home start for Spurs before he was sacrificed by Postecoglou after 34 minutes for Dier following Romero’s red card.

Our story comes days after we revealed how Erik Ten Hag has the backing of Sir Alex Ferguson, and that he is lobbying Manchester United officials to “stick with the Dutchman”.
Fernandes, 29, urged players to use the 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage on Saturday to “turn the season around”.
And the demand was backed by team-mates including Rashford who has now resolved his differences with manager Ten Hag.
Our United source said: “Bruno was obviously buzzing after the game, but he wanted to make a point to his team-mates; they needed to use it as a turning point.

“As captain, he stood up after the game and delivered a really strong rallying call to his fellow players.
“He said it was on all of them to build on the win and transform the season.
“Bruno has come in for a lot of criticism over recent weeks from fans and former players.
“But he is still respected by the players which is why they listened to what he had to say.

“There was a really good feeling among the group afterwards and Marcus Rashford was at the heart of it.
“He’s had a difficult few days but all of that is in the past and a line has been drawn under what happened.
“Everyone wants to move on – and that starts with a win in Denmark tomorrow.”
Rashford drew the wrath of Ten Hag after celebrating his birthday at glitzy nightspot Chinawhite following the 3-0 derby hammering at the hands of Manchester City.
Ten Hag warned the forward it was “unacceptable” to go out partying straight after the humiliating derby defeat.
The Dutchman then benched him in United’s Carabao Cup game against Newcastle and left him out of the Fulham match due to injury.
And on Wednesday night, the Red Devils must continue their winning streak as they take on Copenhagen in a crunch Champions League tie.
In recent weeks, reports have claimed the United boss is on the brink of the sack following a run of disastrous results.
But Fergie – a key figure at Old Trafford – is 100 per cent behind the under-pressure Dutchman.
A source said: “Sir Alex has been very supportive of Erik since he arrived at the club, and that’s not changed in the last week.
“Everyone at the club is desperately disappointed at recent results, but Erik still retains the support of Sir Alex and many other senior figures at the club.
“Sir Alex has been impressed at the way Erik has dealt with some difficult decisions since arriving at the club.
“He thinks he’s shown the kind of character and mentality required to turn the club around – and he firmly believes Erik deserves time, like he got, to make a success of things at the club.”
“But even if the worse was to happen it’s very unlikely Ten Hag would be sacked.

“Contrary to reports, there isn’t a short list being drawn up and there is no natural caretaker in mind who could step up and take over.
“The board are confident Erik will turn things around – and show he is the man for the job.” More

And Al-Ittihad are reportedly looking to replace one ex-Wolves manager with another.
The Saudi powerhouse sacked Nuno after a poor start to the season, despite wining the Saudi Pro League earlier this year.
The final straw came when the side, who boast Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante on their books, suffered a 2-0 defeat by Air Force Club of Iraq in the Asian Champions League on Monday.
Their Saudi title defence has so far been disastrous, already trailing league leaders Al-Hilal – who have the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Neymar in their squad – by 11 points after just 12 games.

“Every team that has contacted him in the past including Lyon and Villarreal was heard, but I think his idea is clear.

There are currently no Premier League positions available for which Lopetegui can interview.
