Premier League stadium looks incredible as new pictures show cranes on pitch and first seats installed

Fans last week joked about the steepness of one of the stands – which is based on Borussia Dortmund’s ‘yellow wall’.
The stadium will have a single tier stand that will seat 13,000 fans and is designed to be as close to the pitch as possible – hence its steep gradient.
Upon completion, the stadium will have a capacity of 53,000 – which will make it the sixth largest stadium in the Premier League.
The stadium, which is located on the docks next to the river Mersey, will knock St James’ Park down into seventh place as it has a capacity of 52,000.

Everton’s current stadium, Goodison Park holds 40,000, and while it’s one of the most iconic grounds in British football, is in need of an update.
Everton will move to their new luxury arena for the 2024-25 season and the stadium currently looks on schedule to be ready for their season opener.
Toffees fans will be hoping to avoid any delays similar to the ones that plagued Tottenham and led to them moving into their stadium in March of the 2018-19 season rather than their initially planned September date.
They’ll also be hoping to christen the stadium while playing Premier League football next season.

I was treated like the Osama Bin Laden of football, Kevin Keegan threatened to pull out my gold tooth if I was late

NEWCASTLE legend Kevin Keegan wouldn’t put up with Nile Ranger’s shenanigans at St James’ Park.Ranger’s nomadic career saw him spend five years on the Magpies’ books, which included two loan stints at Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.

The former striker joined the Toon in 2008 at the age of 17 and was immediately added to their youth ranks at a time when Keegan returned at the helm of his beloved club.
The now 32-year-old, though, did brush shoulders with the senior squad and would at times be summoned to meetings with the likes of Michael Owen, Alan Smith and Nicky Butt.
However, the forward was late for one team meeting and met the wrath of the manager as well as his team-mates.
    Keegan didn’t hold back.

Ranger alleges the gaffer warned him that next time he would pull out his gold tooth so that he could sell it to make ends meet as he would also rip up his contract.
This wasn’t the only time Ranger has been in trouble throughout his turbulent 15-year career.
The ex-England Under-19 international played in the top five divisions, served two jail terms, battled a gambling addiction and was sacked by numerous clubs because of disciplinary issues.
The Londoner previously claimed he was treated like the “Osama bin Laden of football”.

But now the ex-Southampton prospect is filled with regret as he insists with more discipline, better nutrition and right amount of sleep he would have been like Manchester City star Erling Haaland.
Ranger told The Athletic: “There needs to be a movie on my life, because it’s a real one, it’s an interesting one. “I have players coming to me saying, ‘What happened? What’s wrong with you? With your talent, what are you doing?’.
“I made my bed and now I have to lie in it. I feel frustrated. I know what I can do but it’s deeper than that because I’ve had so many chances. I didn’t take in the advice. I should be minimum Championship right now. I shouldn’t be having problems but I didn’t listen.
“If I added nutrition to my game and behaviour, I’m Haaland. But I didn’t want to listen. I thought I knew it all. Every club I’ve had, even as an adult, my mum has had to come in — because they respect her — to see if it could work as a last throw of the dice.
“She is my life coach, she’s probably disappointed deep down I didn’t really go higher… but she always says, ‘Listen, we had a blast, no matter what’.
“I missed a meeting in a hotel, I came down, some of the players were tutting. Keegan said, ‘If you are ever late again, I will pull your gold tooth out and you are going to go sell that. You will never have a contract, I will fine you your wages — this is your last time’.
“I was like, ‘F*****g hell’. I was s******g it. So I wasn’t late again. I was on the bench against Arsenal, I was looking at Robin van Persie, Michael Owen, I was like, ‘Oh my God’. It was like a dream.
“I don’t know why trouble kept coming to me. They eventually said, ‘If you’re late again, we don’t have to pay you anything. We suggest you take this mutual consent and go’.

“There was an issue with the fans, they started booing in a match against Reading and I said, ‘Why are you booing us? You’re supposed to be the 12th man’, and that’s when True Geordie blasted me and it went viral.”
Ranger left Newcastle in 2013 at the age of 22 and his career never blossomed.

Postecoglou is desperate to find a defensive replacement as their summer signing Van de Ven pulled up with a serious-looking hamstring injury in Monday’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea.
The Dutch international is set for a scan once the swelling has gone down before the club decides on his expected return.
Meanwhile, Spurs centre-back Cristian Romero is suspended for the next three games after being shown the red card.
This has left the Aussie with Eric Dier and 18-year-old Ashley Phillips as his defensive options.

According to the Standard, Tottenham are set to reignite their interest in Kelly who was a deadline day target in the summer.
The North London club saw a £20million bid turned down by Premier League rivals Bournemouth.
The 25-year-old is out of contract next summer and should be available at a discounted price.
Spurs coach Matt Wells who looks after the first team’s defensive players worked with Kelly at Bournemouth and the report claims he is understood to be “an admirer” of the star.

The left-footed former England Under-21 international can cover left-back and seems like a great fit for Posteceoglou’s side.
Kelly joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in a £13million switch in 2019.
And he has since played 124 times for the Cherries, helping them to promotion from the Championship in 2022.
But to pave the way for the centre-back Spurs are hoping to cash in on Dier in the January transfer window – who has appeared just one this term.
This is despite the 29-year-old delivering an impressive performance against the Blues, in which he unluckily had a goal disallowed by VAR for being offside. More

The winger suggested this could be down to his special dietary habits.
The former England international steams chicken feet every night because of the collagen, which is responsible for healthy joints as well as skin elasticity.
Townsend told Ben Foster’s Fozcast: “Every night for dinner I eat chicken feet. Steamed chicken feet.
“I swear to you. Because the collagen in the chicken feet, there’s the cartilage.

“There’s basically so much goodness that now they put it into pills and put it into shots.
“The daily pills you take at training is mainly from chicken feet and random stuff like that.”
Foster asked Townsend where he gets the chicken feet from and the ex-Tottenham star responded: “Online.
“Yeah, I order it in like massive batches. It comes frozen, I whack a load in the freezer.

Premier League fans were left stunned by Townsend’s revelation after a clip was shared on TikTok.

The 26-year-old was substituted in the first half after picking up a problem with his ankle.
Fears of the severity of the damage seemed to have been allayed when England boss Gareth Southgate named him in his latest squad when he announced it on Thursday.
However, Tottenham announced earlier that Maddison has withdrawn from Three Lions duty and will stay at the club to continue his recovery.
He has undergone a series of examinations this week to try and establish the extent of the damage on his ankle.

We revealed that there were growing concerns that Maddison was facing a lengthy spell out.
And now Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has provided the grim update on his £45m summer signing in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash at Wolves.
He said: “Madders a lot worse than we first thought. Was bad the next day. Again into the New Year with him.”
The prospect of being without Maddison, who has shone for the North London club so far this term, long-term will come as a bitter blow to the Aussie amid his growing list of absentees.

Postecoglou also heads to Molineux without both Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie after their sending-offs against Chelsea.
Romero will be suspended for the next three games while Udogie has been issued with a one-match suspension.
Postecoglou added: “There’s a fair bit happened after Monday night. Micky with a hamstring injury we knew was fairly significant. We’re looking at a couple of months into the new year.

EFL confirm Anthony Taylor made WRONG decision after being demoted… but he’ll still referee Chelsea vs Man City

REFEREE Anthony Taylor was wrong to award Preston North End a penalty against Coventry City after being dropped down to Championship games, the EFL confirms. After being demoted from top-flight English football for a mistake in Newcastle’s game with Wolves, Taylor is set to return for the Chelsea v Manchester City game on Sunday.

However, it has now emerged that Taylor made a mistake when he refereed Preston North End’s 3-2 win over Coventry City on Saturday.
This was the first time in four years he had officiated in the second tier and was involved in a controversial spot-kick decision.
The 45-year-old ruled that Kyle McFadzean had brought down Milutin Osmajic in the area, but replays showed the Sky Blues captain had made little contact.
After reviewing the officials’ decisions, the EFL has announced that the penalty should not have been given.

Coventry boss Mark Robins spoke on the injustice they faced against Preston.
Robins said: “Now once or twice we have had decisions that have gone against us and again, we had one go against us with the penalty at Preston.
“We have had confirmation that it wasn’t a penalty but there’s still a bit of ambiguity around that.
“So we need to do a little bit more digging on that to get clarity on the decision they have made.”

And fans even deemed Taylor should be “demoted to League 1 next weekend” after his dismal performance.
Taylor was forced to referee Championship football last weekend after giving Newcastle a controversial penalty in their 2-2 draw with Wolves.
The English official deemed Hwang Hee-chan to have fouled Fabian Schar but replays of the incident showed minimal contact.
But it has been announced he will make his comeback to the Premier League this weekend as Chelsea, who sit tenth in the league, host leaders City. More

Five ways Tottenham could line up in Wolves clash with Postecoglou able to name entire starting XI of unavailable stars

IT was all going so smoothly for Ange Postecoglou… and then Chelsea came to town.Ninety minutes of chaos – plus 21 of injury time – have taken a wrecking ball to his squad.

James Maddison could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelinesCredit: AP
Suspensions for Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero add to Postecoglou’s problemsCredit: Getty
James Maddison, Richarlison and Micky van de Ven are all out injured, while Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero’s red cards against the Blues mean they are suspended for the match against Wolves.
Such is Spurs’ injury crisis they are just one player short of having a full line-up of unavailable players.
It leaves Postecoglou with a real selection headache at the back and in midfield.
In defence, he could be bold and throw in 18-year-old Ashley Phillips, signed this summer from Blackburn for £2million but yet to make his debut.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Alternatively, he could go with full-backs Ben Davies (if fit) or Emerson Royal as Eric Dier’s partner in the heart of the backline.
In midfield, Maddison’s absence is a huge loss given his playmaking skills.
The most like-for-like replacement is Giovani Lo Celso, but Postecoglou has regularly overlooked the Argentina international this term.
Rodrigo Bentancur will surely reclaim a first-team spot eventually but after eight months out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, it would be risky to start him at Molineux.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has shown himself a dependable option of late but a trio of the Dane, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr would lack creativity.
A left-field (or, more to the point, right-field) option would be to play right-winger Dejan Kulusevksi in the Maddison role – the Swede said last season No10 was his preferred position – and give Bryan Gil a go out wide, though the floppy-haired Spaniard has only just returned from injury himself.
    Decisions, decisions…
    POSSIBLE OPTIONS FOR ANGE
    OPTION ONE
Lo Celso could provide some of the creativity missing from the loss of Maddison, with Emerson featuring at left-back as he did against Crystal Palace at the end of last month.
Davies could partner Dier despite the pair both rarely playing this season.

    OPTION TWO
Bentancur would add more protection in midfield but Postecoglou risks aggravating his injury by bringing him back too early.
The Uruguayan is unlikely to last 90 minutes and it would be a risk to play both him and youngster Ashley Phillips.

    OPTION THREE
Hojbjerg replaced Maddison on Monday and has had a solid if unspectacular Tottenham career.
Emerson featured at centre-half against Chelsea but it is an unfamiliar role for the Brazilian.

    OPTION FOUR
Gil is another player who has not featured much under Postecoglou so this would be a risky line-up.
However the Australian has proved he likes to gamble after sticking to his high line and his press principles against Blues, even with nine men.
    Read More on The Sun

    OPTION FIVE
Oliver Skipp is another midfielder Postecoglou could call upon.
This is perhaps the most pragmatic line-up for the Spurs boss, and one that offers the best midfield balance. More

After making fourteen appearances this season for Daniel Farke’s side, Gray’s value has skyrocketed, with the Daily Mail reporting that he could cost from £40-50 million.
Gray’s ability to play at right back and in the middle of the field has led to comparisons with Liverpool and England star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
However, should Leeds decide to cash in on the starlet, Liverpool could reportedly face competition from fellow Premier League sides Everton and Crystal Palace.
A Leeds Academy graduate, Gray’s dad is none other than former Leeds star Andy Gray, while his grandfather is another United legend – Frank Gray.

He is also a great-nephew of Whites legend Eddie Gray.
The latest Gray has been key to the success of Farke’s team this season, who sit third in the Championship.
Whether or not Leeds would let Gray leave so early in his career is unknown.
He himself admitted to Eddie Gray in an interview in October for United’s YouTube channel that he was always bound to play for Leeds.

Gray explained: “Ever since I was young watching my dad play, heard about you playing, seeing clips of you playing and my grandad Frank, I always had to live up to it.”
He also admitted he would “love to play with” his younger brother Harry, 14, who is currently a member of Leeds’ Academy and has played for England’s Under-15s.
But whether or not he’s willing to wait for the next Gray to break through is unclear, given that he also discussed aiming to suit up for England.
