    First half facts and figures
Arsenal had 68% possession in the opening 45 minutes, but it’s Burnley who registered the most shots on target with all four of their attempts forcing Raya into saves.

    Half-time – Arsenal 1-0 Burnley
Michael Oliver immediately blows his whistle and it’s a very different half-time break that now awaits Mikel Arteta, Vincent Kompany and 55,000 Arsenal fans.
Burnley had contained the Gunners well in the opening 45 minutes but switched off in added time, and that was all Arteta’s men needed to nick a goal through Leandro Trossard.
The Belgian’s strike may force the visitors to come out of their shell more in the second half – although they have threatened – and, in turn, that may present Arsenal with the chances to assert their superiority.
    Arsenal 1-0 Burnley
45+1. Burnley had one minute of stoppage time to see out, but barely made to two seconds.
The Clarets are finally undone by two brave pieces of play from Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard.
Zinchenko tosses a hopeful cross into the penalty area, one met by Saka getting up impressively between two defenders.
The England ace heads back across goal where Trossard arrives to nod home despite the immediate threat of James Trafford and the far post.
In fact, the Belgian has taken a heavy blow off the frame of the goal in scoring, and requires treatment while his teammates celebrate.
Either way, Arsenal are in front on the stroke of half-time.

    Breakthrough!

    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    45. The board goes up for one added minute before half-time.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    43. Arsenal were beginning to take a real grip of the contest midway through the second half, moving the ball about quicker in the final third and finding pockets of space.
That seems to have stagnated now though with Trossard and Havertz the most guilty of slowing play down in their latest attack.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    41. Less than five minutes until half-time, and Vincent Kompany will be delighted if his side can make it with a clean sheet still in tact.
A reminder that all four of the Clarets’ points this season have come away from home.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    39. This time Koleosho gives up possession with a crossfield pass straight to Jorginho.
Thankfully for the Italian, five of his teammates come to his rescue by rapidly closing down Martinelli on the edge of the penalty area.

    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    37. The first signs of frustration creeping in for the home fans, as their latest roam forward is brought to an abrupt end by an offside flag.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    35. Trafford tips over again!
Once again, Burnley are the architects of their own downfall, giving up possession in their own defensive third, and allow Arsenal to get to work.
On the edge of the box, Trossard uses Martinelli’s run by not using him, and unleashes a shot that stings the Burnley goalkeeper’s hands.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    33. More possession and more corners for the Gunners.
Martinelli tries his luck this time over on the left, but the Brazilian’s cross is comfortably dealt with in the air by the dominant Berge.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    31. Burnley go close to taking a shock lead!
Gudmundsson squeezes between Zinchenko and Saliba to race on to Brownhill’s through ball, and strikes low.
It looks destined for the bottom corner right until Raya gets down to his left to push away.
An excellent save from the underfire goalkeeper.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    29. Trossard dances his way to the byline and wins corner number five for the hosts.
Saka goes near post with his delivery once again, and this time it’s met by Havertz’s wayward header.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    28. Down the other end, Rodriguez gets a shot off but without the direction or power to test Raya.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    26. Trafford again shows off his reflexes with an acrobatic dive to claw Beyer’s header from off his own line.
Not that it would have counted, the referee had already whistle for a foul against Saka, penalised for planting two hands on the back of Koleosho.
Arsenal fans will tell you that’s not always given as a free-kick.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    24. Lovely stuff from Zinchenko, who crops up on the right as Arsenal’s fluid football takes hold.
The Ukrainian’s smart trap and backheel releases Saka, whose low cross is intended for Trossard in the centre.
The Belgian’s connection and then the follow-up shot from Havertz are both blocked by the brave defending of O’Shea.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    22. Saka is in the thick of the action again, this time going to ground inside the box on the left under the challenge of O’Shea.
It wasn’t the cleanest coming together, but Michael Oliver is in the rice place to say no penalty – and it’s the right decision.
However, it was a quick Arsenal break, sparked by Rice’s fine interception on the edge of his own area.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    20. Saka shoots! Trafford saves!
Amdouni commits the cardinal sin of dithering on the ball in his own penalty area, and Saka steals in to strike first time.
It’s heading for the top corner until the Burnley goalkeeper flies across his line to tip on to the bar and over.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    18. In fact, it’s worth remembering that the last time Burnley came here in January 2022, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners were booed after a 0-0 draw off despite recording 20 shots at goal and 76% possession.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    17. Arsenal have bossed the ball, clocking up 67% possession so far, but so far there has been little attacking threat.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    15. Saliba tries to pick out the run of Rice with a lofted pass over the top, but Trafford rushes off his line to claim.
That will be a much-needed confident boost for the young keeper.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    13. Trossard and Martinelli combine well on the left to open up some space inside the penalty area, but before they can exploit it, the assistant referee’s flag goes up for offside.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    11. Burnley continue to sit deep. but they are actually defending quite well in the face of Arsenal attacks.
It’s only when in possession that the visitors look a concern.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    9. Have Burnley brought their drummer with them to London?
There’s certainly a bassey-kettle feel to the noise emanating from the away section of the Emirates.
    Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
    7. A strong response from Burnley.
There’s some good fortune as referee Michael Oliver interferes with play in midfield, but then Amdouni takes charge with menace.
Driving at the the home defence, the striker lets fly from 20 yards with a shot that Raya is required to push behind. More

    47. McTominay takes an arm to the face from Morris on halfway.
Scrappy couple of minutes and the game has to stop for a moment. The Scot will be fine though.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
We’re back under way as the visitors kick us off in the second half.
    Here they come
The players are back out and ready to go.
Without putting too fine a point on it – this is a seismic 45 minutes for Erik ten Hag.
    Sergio driving
Sergio Reguilon is almost playing as a second winger for United.
He’s been probably the most involved player of the half and you can see how high up the pitch he’s able to get.

    Elsewhere…
There’s two other Premier League games at 3pm this afternoon.
    Arsenal 1 Burnley 0
    Crystal Palace 1 Everton 1
    Domination
United are dominating every aspect of this one – bar the scoreline and shots on target.
Which just about sums up their issues at the moment…

    Half time report
For all their huff and puff, United have nothing to show for it at half time.
They’ve created enough chances and it looks like a team with a front three who just can’t seem to score at the minute.
Luton have defended really well and their game plan has worked to this point.
If it wasn’t for an outstanding Onana save from Morris’ header, they could actually have found themselves in front.
Much for Ten Hag to ponder at the interval.
    HALF TIME
Indeed that was it for the first half.
Somehow, we’re goalless at the break.
    MAN UTD 0 LUTON 0

    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
47′ Another Garnacho cross but Lockyer scoops that one clear.
That will likely be that in terms of the opening 45 minutes.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    44. There’ll be two added minutes.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    43. Sacked in the morning the chants coming from the away fans – and I’m assuming it’s not aimed at Rob Edwards.
Garnacho’s latest cross is low but Hojlund can’t get it under control.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    41. Another HUGE chance for United and they still can’t score.
Hojlund’s link-up is brilliant and he finds Garnacho in ACRES of space inside the box.
Unfortunately, he takes four touches to get the ball under control before taking it round the keeper and sending a weak shot towards goal – where Luton had four retreating defenders to clear it.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    39. Eriksen hasn’t been able to shrug that knee injury off unfortunately.
He’s back down on the turf again and is set to be replaced.

    OFF – Eriksen
    ON – Mount

    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    37. Townsend’s follow-up shot from the edge is easily saved by the keeper.
Fernandes tries to force a pass down the other end but it drifts for a goal kick.
    WHAT A SAVE!!
Luton very nearly take the lead!!
A cross from the right finds Morris 10 yards out and his free header is heading for the bottom corner but for the outstretched arm of Onana.
Morris thought he’d scored but excellent goalkeeping!
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    34. Another Maguire switch finds Garnacho in space on the left.
He cuts inside and finds Fernandes on the edge of the box but his shot is blocked this time.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    32. Eriksen slips in the middle of the park and is clutching at his knee.
He does get back to his feet but it would’ve been an anxious time for Ten Hag with their injury record at present.
    VAR CHECK
    Possible penalty….
Lockyer grabbing Maguire from the subsequent corner and the pair hit the deck.
    No penalty….
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    CLOSE!
    30. Fernandes’ deep corner finds Rashford alone at the back post. He smashes it back across and it hits Osho and flies just wide.
    Another corner.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    29. Patient play from United with 21 players within 35 yards of Luton’s goal.
Garnacho and Reguilon link up well and the former wins a corner.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    25. Another Luton corner and this one is an inswinger. Not dealt with at the first attempt from United.
Eventually, Fernandes gets on it and sends Eriksen on the counter but he has no-one to hit and they’re back in safe possesion.

    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    24. Another United chance. Fernandes gets a yard of space on the edge of the box and smashes it towards goal.
    Again, it flies just over.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    23. A sensational ball in from Fernandes on the left, curling in towards the back post.
Hojlund couldn’t get there and Rashford was caught on his heels at the back post and it drifts just wide.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    21. Ogbene gets Luton’s first attempt at goal.
A routine stop from Onana as the shot is fired straight at him from the egde of the area.
    Man Utd 0 Luton 0
    21. Another good chance for Man Utd.
Maguire with a big diagonal switch to the left where Garnacho collects. Good feet from the winger to drive inside before driving a shot a couple of yards over from inside the area. More

Fans hail Tottenham goalscorer Brennan Johnson for how he celebrated with special tribute to injured team-mate

TOTTENHAM supporters hailed goalscorer Brennan Johnson as he paid a special tribute to an injured team-mate with his celebration. The 22-year-old arrived in North London from Nottingham Forest in a £47.5m move this summer.

The Welsh international impressed on his first start for the club in their draw at Arsenal but suffered a hamstring strain in the clash.
That led to a spell on the sidelines, but after a number of appearances off the bench, he returned to the starting line-up for Monday’s bonkers 4-1 home defeat to Chelsea.
Unfortunately for him, that outing did not last long as he was subbed off following Cristian Romero’s first half red card.
However, Johnson was named in the Spurs team to face Wolves at Molineux today and he did not take long to make an impact.

With just three minutes on the clock, Johnson guided home a Pedro Porro cut-back to fire Ange Postecoglou’s side into the lead – but it was his celebration that set tongues wagging.
He raced away with Porro before paying tribute to fellow Spurs star James Maddison – who was this week confirmed to be sidelined with an ankle injury until the New Year.
Johnson performed the England international’s signature darts throw celebration in a clear message of support for his pal – although Spurs were eventually beaten 2-1 after a late Wolves comeback.
And fans watching at home quickly took to social media to hail the goalscorer’s gesture.

“I love the celebration by Brennan Johnson for that Spurs goal,” wrote one before adding: “James Maddison may be injured but he’s not forgotten…”
“What a great gesture,” said another supporter.
While a fellow social media user commented: “It just shows the brotherhood Ange has installed in the squad.”
That was Johnson’s first goal for the club, and Tottenham will be hoping he can keep producing the goods in Maddison’s absence.
The ex-Leicester City attacker suffered the blow against Chelsea.
The 26-year-old was substituted in the first half after picking up a problem with his ankle.
Fears of the severity of the damage seemed to have been allayed when England boss Gareth Southgate named him in his latest squad when he announced it on Thursday.
However, Tottenham announced earlier that Maddison has withdrawn from Three Lions duty before Postecoglou confirmed the grim news.
He said: “Madders a lot worse than we first thought. Was bad the next day. Again into the New Year with him.”

Marco Silva, who received assurances over backing in the transfer market before committing to a new deal last month, almost lost Palhinha on deadline day in September.
The Portuguese midfielder was in Germany ready to complete a move to Bayern Munich on the final day of the window before the plugged was pulled with Fulham unable to sign a replacement at short notice.
Palhinha quickly signed a new contract until 2028 at Craven Cottage but there are no assurances that he will stay at the club – meaning the West Londoners are having to draw up a succession plan.
Andre, who made his Brazil debut in June, is top of their list and the Whites are currently favourites to complete a deal.

The 22-year-old has four goals and three assists in 162 appearances for Fluminense and helped the Brazilian side win the Copa Libatadores, the South American equivalent of the Champions League.

SunSport revealed this week that Silva is tracking a trio of strikers ahead of the winter window.
