Real Madrid had been favourites to land the striker in June but his astronomical salary of £30m per year, his recent performances and the club’s “financial issues” have led to doubts.
According to Foot Mercato, Real’s hesitations have led to Liverpool as well as Bayern considering a serious bid for the 24-year-old.
The Reds have been keeping an eye on the France international since 2017 when he joined PSG initially on loan from Monaco before his permanent move a year later.
The Merseysiders’ manager Jurgen Klopp even met for talks with Mbappe before his move to Parc des Princes.

Recent reports also suggested Liverpool and the Frenchman’s camp have remained in contact in the period since.
The versatile forward confirmed there were talks with the Premier League giants six years ago and they had a “greater chance” of signing him.
Mbappe said last year: “We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit.
“I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her!

“It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.”

The German champions hold a “serious” interest for the 2018 World Cup winner even though they understand how “complicated” a potential deal could turn out to be. More

Mikel Arteta tactical blunder is ‘WASTING’ Declan Rice.. Arsenal must target Bayern star transfer to fix it, says icon

FORMER Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit believes Declan Rice is being wasted by Mikel Arteta this season.Rice has so far played as more of a box to box No8 but Petit believes he should play as a defensive No6 to get the best out of the England midfielder.

Petit told Compare.bet: “Declan Rice’s priority for Arsenal should be to maintain the balance of the side and to win the ball back for his team.
“He does those things so well. I think he is wasted a bit in that number 8 role where Xhaka played last season because he is such a brilliant holding midfielder.
“You cannot ask him to play how Xhaka played last year because that’s not his position.
“His best position is as a holding midfielder and that is where the manager should play him, it’s fundamental to how Arteta wants to play.”

Petit was a defensive midfielder himself and played for The Gunners between 1997 and 2000 before leaving for Barcelona.
He returned to the Premier League with Chelsea in 2001.
Petit, who was part of the French national squad that won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000, added that he felt Arsenal should sign Bayern Munich pair Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich to solve what he considers to be Arsenal’s midfield conundrum.
He said: “The main two players I would target if I was Arsenal would be Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.

“They are both incredible players with huge experience who have both been at Bayern for a while and would maybe like a new challenge.
“Goretzka has played at such a high level for so long and is still only 28, and I think Kimmich would be great for Arsenal, even if the price tag may be a bit expensive.”
Rice himself admitted after last week’s game with Sevilla that he feels the No6 is his strongest position despite winning Man of the Match in a more advanced role.
He said to the TNT crew: “I think my best position is probably as a No6. My biggest strength is breaking up the play and taking the ball from deep.
“I do get excited when I play No8 though. I get to show the other side of my game. I didn’t stop running tonight.” More

Gary Neville doubles down on Premier League prediction and has two major concerns over Arsenal’s title bid

And while he still thinks Mikel Arteta and his team will lift the trophy at the end of the campaign, the former defender has outlined some concerns that could see them drop out of the title race.
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Neville said: “I think that Arsenal can win the league this season.
“Despite starting slow, the football will come, the football that we saw from them last season.
“The fact that they’ve started a little bit slower, I never think is a bad thing, they’re sat there in the pack behind [top].

“My worry with Arsenal is a centre-forward, I like [Gabriel] Jesus and [Eddie] Nketiah but for me they are a number two and three, they need a number one.
“But I do think that when the football comes, and it could come after Christmas at March which is the right time, they could be the opposite of last season – a bit of a slow start and stronger finish.”
Arsenal currently sit third in the Premier League table, just one point behind leaders Man City.
The Gunners have lost just one match so far this season – against Newcastle following a controversial VAR decision.

Micah Richards reveals behind-the-scenes domino effect of how a Premier League manager loses dressing room

MICAH RICHARDS has revealed the behind-the-scenes domino effect that causes a Premier League manager to be sacked. The former full-back-turned-pundit played for Manchester City, Fiorentina and Aston Villa during his playing career.

His Villa spell proved to be disastrous as they were relegated from the Premier League during his first season.
Following a poor start to the campaign they sacked manager Tim Sherwood, opting to replace him with Frenchman Remi Garde.
Richards, 35, claims that Garde’s training wasn’t up to scratch and that he swiftly lost the faith of then-Villa stalwart Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Appearing on The Rest is Football alongside fellow regulars Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, Richards said: “Once Gabby had gone, the rest of the dressing room was gone. Because he was the main person in that dressing room.”
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Asked by Lineker if unhappy players would go the club CEO, Richards continued: “In Gabby’s case he was one of the senior pros in the changing room along with myself and Joleon Lescott and we were all good mates.
“So then he would say to me ‘I’m not having this manager’, he put doubt in my mind.
“And Joleon, he’s very diplomatic, would always say ‘you might not like the manager but just do the best you can’.
“But we were going through a time where we weren’t doing well. If you’re going through a difficult time on the pitch in the dressing room it needs to be amazing.

“You still need to look at your team-mates and think ‘I can trust him, I’m going to go and give 100 per cent for my team-mate on the pitch’.”
Explaining the ripple effect of a key man being turned against the manager, Richards added: “But as soon as that happened he would start speaking to the CEOs, he would start speaking to agents, agents would start leaking stuff to the press and say the manager doesn’t know what he’s doing, the level of football is not required for the Premier League, and that’s how it starts.
“You’ve lost the player, and then you’ve lost the dressing room as well because the main couple of people in the dressing room are not happy.”
Garde won just three of his 23 matches in charge of Aston Villa before being sacked in March 2016 just five months into a three-and-a-half-year deal.
Villa finished bottom of the Premier League with just 17 points, the fourth worst tally in the history of the competition.

I was shocked to make England’s World Cup squad but now I know I belong with £100m stars, says Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher

CONOR GALLAGHER suffered with impostor syndrome at the World Cup.When Gareth Southgate’s England squad landed in Qatar a year ago today, the midfielder was struggling with self-doubt and was surprised to be picked after a tough time at Chelsea.

Even earlier this season, the doubts remained.
The West London club’s chaotic transfer policy meant his future was still up in the air on transfer deadline day, with Tottenham hoping to seal a deal.
Yet in the last couple of months Gallagher has really come of age under Mauricio Pochettino.
Despite Moises Caicedo joining in the summer for an initial £100million, with £106m star Enzo Fernandez having arrived in January, Gallagher has been Chelsea’s star performer in midfield and started all 12 Premier League games.
    READ MORE CHELSEA NEWS
So there was certainly no shock when he was picked for this latest England squad, with Gallagher certain to add to his ten caps either against Malta on Friday or North Macedonia three days later.
As the 23-year-old sat down at St George’s Park yesterday afternoon, he was reminded of his comments made at England’s Al-Wakrah training base during the World Cup, where he failed to feature in a single game.
At the time, Gallagher said: “I didn’t expect to be called up. I was hoping there was a chance but I was a little bit surprised.
“I have not played consistent football with Chelsea and, as a team, Chelsea have not played great this season.”

But now Gallagher is far more at ease with himself and on the pitch. He is brimming with self-confidence and determination.
Asked about that impostor syndrome, he confirmed: “That’s not the case any more.
“After the World Cup squad was announced, I wasn’t playing much for Chelsea and we were going through a tough period, so that’s why I said that in an interview.
“But I’m very confident in my ability and what I can do.
“Training and playing alongside midfielders worth £100m-plus at Chelsea is good and shows where I’m at as well.
“I am mentally more relaxed and ready to go and perform, whereas last season it was not really knowing if I was starting or not.
    CON AIR
“I was not really sure what was going on, what team we were going for, because of the number of players we had.
“Coming here now, I feel more relaxed, more into the squad and hopefully I can play more for England and be a bigger part of the squad.”
Quizzed on what he thought about Chelsea’s  summer spending spree in excess of £400m, which included Caicedo, he said: “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t fearing for my place.
“When top players come in your position, you think you have less of a chance of playing as much as you’d like.
“It makes you even more determined to prove to the manager why you are good enough to be playing as well. I have done that this season.
“It’s what comes with being at a top club like Chelsea, one of the best clubs in the world over the last 20-25 years. So that’s going to happen.
Whatever the manager wants me to do I have been doing and I will keep working as hard as possible for himConor Gallagher
“There is always going to be competition for places, not just in midfield but all over the pitch.
“It was a crazy period in terms of ins and outs at Chelsea. I had conversations with the manager and he expressed he liked me as a player and I was in his plans, and I was really happy with that.
“A lot was going on in the summer, a big  transition in the club, a lot of players coming in, a lot of players leaving.
“I was lucky enough to stay and be a part of the manager’s plans. Whatever he wants me to do I have been doing and I will keep working as hard as possible for him.
“It is very important in football to have character and to prove people wrong and show how good you are. All the top teams have a lot of characters.”
After all that self-inflicted upheaval, Chelsea have been a slow-burner this season but it looks as though things are starting to come together under Pochettino, with the team drawing 4-4 in a crazy match against Manchester City on Sunday.
    Read More on The Sun
Gallagher, who hopes to extend his current deal at Stamford Bridge beyond its remaining 18 months, said: “At Chelsea, you want to challenge for titles — and in the Premier League we’re not quite there yet.
“So we’re aiming for top four, which is going be tough but that’s the stage we’re at and we’re good enough to do that. We’re definitely progressing as a team.” More

Howard Webb reveals TWO decisions VAR got wrong in Newcastle vs Arsenal clash following furious Arteta rant

HOWARD WEBB has confirmed VAR got TWO decisions wrong in Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Arsenal.PGMOL chief Webb revealed on the programme “Match Officials Mic’d Up” that both Kai Havertz and Bruno Guimaraes should have been sent off – as previously stated by the Premier League’s Key Match Incident Panel.

However, he insisted the process was followed correctly for Anthony Gordon’s controversial winner – which Gunners boss Mikel Arteta described as an “absolute disgrace”.
Havertz’s lunge on Sean Longstaff in the 37th minute was deemed to be a yellow card.
Meanwhile, Guimaraes’ forearm struck the head of Jorginho in an off the ball collision, but he did not receive any punishment.
Speaking about the two incidents, Webb said: “Quite a busy game wasn’t it?
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
“A couple of situations, that in the cold-light-of-day analysis that we go through, going forward, we would expect red cards in both of those situations.”
Prior to analysing those decisions, Webb also analysed the use of VAR in Gordon’s goal.
The officials looked at three separate incidents in the match-winning moment.
They were whether or not the ball had gone out, a potential foul on Gabriel, and Gordon being offside.

Explaining the process, Webb said: “This was a big moment – an unusual situation with three aspects for the VAR to check whether or not the on-field decision of goal should be overturned.
“We see the ball getting very close to the goal-line – don’t forget we have an assistant referee who is right in line – the ball hasn’t got a lot of pace as it goes to the goal-line, so he’s looking right down the line better than any of our cameras.

“And we know the ball is curved, so it can be over-hanging the line and we need evidence it’s out, and we don’t have that here.
“The ball then comes over and Joelinton challenges Gabriel, and it could be a foul, might be a foul.
“The VAR decides that the evidence from the footage isn’t clear enough to intervene with a recommendation for a review for a clear error.”
He continued: “I think the talks we’ve seen after, the opinion that is split across a lot of analysis, would suggest that was a correct non-intervention because of the subjectivity.
“And then one of those unusual situations where the ball goes between two players, and trying to identify exactly when the ball leaves Joelinton, is really difficult to establish because of the players being so close together.
“So again, no conclusive evidence that Gordon was offside when the ball was last touched.
“The VAR went through that diligently and identified no clear evidence to intervene to overturn the goal. The process was actually correct.”
Also on the show, Webb said VAR had correctly disallowed Scott McTominay’s goal against Fulham for an offside on Harry Maguire.
    Read More on The Sun
He also backed officials for their decision to send off Cristian Romero against Chelsea.
But he admitted Hwang Hee-chan’s challenge on Newcastle’s Fabian Schar should have seen VAR intervene to disallow the penalty given against Wolves. More
