Man Utd fans convinced Jonny Evans is FIRST CHOICE centre-back as they spot huge flaw in Ten Hag’s Varane defence

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have been left convinced that Jonny Evans is now the club’s first choice centre-back after Erik ten Hag’s latest press conference. As reported by SunSport, Raphael Varane has been left “stunned” by his position in the Manchester United pecking order after seemingly dropping down to fourth choice.

Varane was dropped for the Manchester derby in favour of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans and has not started a game since then when the duo have been fit.
SunSport understands that Varane has vowed to remain “focused” for the remainder of the season, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.
But ten Hag’s latest response when asked about Varane will not fill the World Cup winner with any confidence.
When asked about a rift between him and Varane, ten Hag said: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.

“It’s just rumours but there is internal competition. When you have to decide between two players who are brilliant – Varane and Harry Maguire – then you have to make a choice.”
Fans pointed out that if ten Hag is deciding between Varane and Maguire for one spot, then that would make the 35-year-old Evans the first choice centre-half.
Evans was only ever signed by United to provide cover for the club at centre-back but now appears to be the cornerstone of ten Hag’s defence.
Fans were left perplexed by ten Hag’s response in the press conference, with one posting on X: “Meaning Evans is unstoppable??”

Unfortunately for ten Hag, Evans is ruled out of Sunday’s trip to Everton.
Meaning it is likely that United fans will see Maguire partnered by Varane for the trip to Goodison.
In better news, Luke Shaw is now fit again and expected to play a role on Sunday.
United are expecting a defiant crowd at Everton as the fans look to give their team inspiration following their 10 point deduction for FFP breaches. More

Paul Merson tells Pochettino three players who MUST start for Chelsea vs Newcastle but snubs potential debutant Nkunku

PAUL MERSON has told Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino that he must stick with three stars for their upcoming trip to Newcastle this weekend.Chelsea go into the game off the back of a thrilling 4-4 draw with Manchester City before the international break.

Starlet Cole Palmer continued his excellent run of form when his penalty earned Chelsea a point at the death against the Premier League champions.
And Merson has called on Pochettino not to mess with a successful formula – particularly in regard to the front three.
Writing in his column in Sportskeeda, Merson said: “This is going to be another huge game.
“It’s one of those games where the result will be dictated by the availability of players. If Chelsea can get through the first 30 minutes without getting conceding a goal, this could be an extremely interesting encounter.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
“Chelsea are starting to adapt to Pochettino’s style. They are able to give any side a run for their money at this point. I think Chelsea have to stick with Nicolas Jackson, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer in attack.
Pochettino will be tempted to include £52million summer signing Christopher Nkunku, who is fit again for the first time this season – but he’ll have to make do with a spot from the bench according to Merson.
Merson continued: “Sterling and Palmer have been in great form and they will be key here once again. Chelsea’s team, at the moment, is starting to pick itself and it’s a good thing. Earlier, we used to sit around wondering how they were going to line up.
“But that’s changed now. Despite all that, Newcastle at home are always up for any challenge and I see this game ending in a draw. Predicted scoreline, Newcastle United 1-1 Chelsea.”

Nkunku would have been expected to come in for Jackson, but he too has found his shooting boots after a difficult start to the season.
The Senegalese star netted a hat-trick against rivals Tottenham before scoring in the 4-4 draw with City.
Newcastle come into the game with a mounting injury list with Callum Wilson the latest player to be ruled out – Kieran Trippier is available after pulling out of the England squad, however.
Alexander Isak is back from injury and could start against The Blues. More

Chelsea and Man Utd target wonderkid ‘with greatest name in history’ but Brazilian, 16, has £52m transfer release clause

MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea have joined the bidding war for Brazilian wonderkid Messinho.Palmeiras starlet Estevao Willian, who earned the “greatest name in history” thanks to his love for Lionel Messi as well as his performances, has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest hitters.
Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on Palmeiras wonderkid Messinho
The 16-year-old has been linked with Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea and United have joined the transfer war for the winger’s signature.
However, the Blues and the Red Devils will have to cough up some heavy cash once more as Messinho – who also goes simply as Estevao – carries a €60million (£52m) release clause.
The forward signed his first professional contract with Palmeiras in April with a hefty asking price as his agent Andre Curry has claimed his client could win the Ballon d’Or one day.

The rising star is turning heads in the ongoing Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia with three goals and four assists in four games for Brazil.
Chelsea and United, though, are facing intense competition with Real contacting Palmeiras on Wednesday.
Plus, a representative close to Messinho as well as Los Blancos star Vinicius Junior has offered to work as an intermediary.
A bid will also prove to be tough for the West Londoners and United as the player has previously revealed his desire to play for Barcelona and emulate his idol Messi’s success at the Nou Camp.

PSG recently made a €40m (£35m) offer which quickly rose to €50m (£43m).
However, Messinho is waiting for a bid from Barca as he is adamant he prefers the Catalan giants.
But the player will not be able to move abroad until he turns 18 due to Brazilian law.
However, Messinho’s bidders can seal a deal that will see him making the move in two years when he becomes an adult, just like Real did with his Palmeiras team-mate Endrick who is currently 17.
Estevao has yet to make his senior debut for the Brazilian giants but great things are expected from him, which is why he signed a sponsorship deal with Nike at the tender age of 10. More

Man City missed out on inserting ‘Jadon Sancho clause’ into deal when they sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea for £42.5m

MANCHESTER CITY did not insist on a sell-on clause in Cole Palmer’s transfer to Chelsea, according to reports.City cashed in twice on Jadon Sancho after selling him to Borussia Dortmund in 2017, and then seeing him move to rivals Manchester United four years later.
Manchester City do not have a sell-on-clause on Cole PalmerCredit: Rex
Pep Guardiola’s side pocketed over £10million after United paid a whopping £73m for Sancho in 2021.
But there will be no such repeat of that if Chelsea are to sell Palmer in the future.
According to The Daily Mail, City were happy to accept the £40m up front for Palmer, plus the £2.5m in potential add-ons.
As an academy product, the sale can be listed as profit in City’s books.

And the deal was seen as good enough not to require further negotiation on a sell-on clause.
City have reaped the benefit from other deals in the past, including when Spurs signed Pedro Porro from Sporting for £42million in January.
They also had a 20 per cent clause on Romeo Lavia, who joined Chelsea this summer from Southampton for £58million.
Chelsea were said to be pleasantly surprised that no clause was inserted in their deal for Palmer.

Especially after seeing the new England star make a fantastic start to life at Stamford Bridge, making the fee look like a bargain.
Palmer has established himself as a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s first XI, scoring four times in his six league starts for the side.
The 21-year-old earned his first call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England side this international break and made his debut against Malta.
Palmer is expected to start again for Chelsea in tomorrow’s clash against Newcastle as Chelsea look to continue their good form following on from a difficult start to the season. More

Liverpool SHOULDN’T offer Mo Salah a new contract – they need to let him go to Saudi Arabia, claims club legend

LIVERPOOL have been urged not to offer Mo Salah a new contract. That’s as clubs in Saudi Arabia line up mega-money bids for the superstar forward.
Mo Salah should NOT be handed a new Liverpool deal, says a club legendCredit: Rex
Salah, 31, is a certified Liverpool legend after winning every club trophy available at Anfield.
The hitman has scored 198 goals in 321 games under Jurgen Klopp.
And he’s still going strong in his golden years, having netted 12 times already this season.
However, Salah’s future remains in doubt following a huge offer from Al-Ittihad in September.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
The Saudi giants launched a world-record £215million to poach Liverpool’s star player on deadline day.
The Reds held firm, having handed Salah a new £400,000-a-week contract in 2022.
But with the Egyptian’s deal up in 2025, boss Klopp has a big decision to make.
He could insist on another new deal for Salah, who is still doing the business on the right side of his attack.

Mark Lawrenson reckons Liverpool should sell Salah to Saudi ArabiaCredit: PA
However, Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson reckons this would be a mistake.
He feels Salah’s career is only going downwards ahead of his 32nd birthday in June.
And Lawrenson has urged Liverpool to cash in while they can so they can fund a new squad rebuild.
He told Paddy Power: “I don’t think Liverpool should offer Salah a new contract, they should let him go and take the money.
“You can understand him going to Saudi Arabia because of his nationality. I imagine that when he signed his last contract, given everything happening with the Saudi league, he would have known.
“I’m sure the club would be happy to say ‘thanks for your service to the club, we’ll get £100m and you get plenty of money and good luck’.
“I think the plus side of this is that Liverpool will be looking around in the market already for a replacement.
“They’ll have a shortlist of strikers noted down but they do have four already, which is good for when Salah leaves, they have back up.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the manager and the player have already had a conversation about it. Klopp would be asking for him to give everything until the end of the season and then he can go.
“Salah will already be on silly money so it makes no sense for him to try and get more money from Liverpool, because when you get past the age of 30, you don’t play as many games and then the club wouldn’t be getting bang for their buck.” More

Forgotten Tottenham star-turned-boss unleashes 72 swear words in X-rated half-time rant as team thumped 6-0

FORMER Tottenham star Pascal Chimbonda launched into an incredible 72-swear-word half-time rant at his Skelmersdale United players during a recent 6-0 defeat.Chimbonda, 44, took charge of the ninth-tier strugglers last month.

The Frenchman enjoyed a career at the top-level of the game with Spurs, Blackburn, Sunderland and Wigan.
He was even part of France’s World Cup squad as Les Bleus reached the final in 2006.
His current task of keeping Skelmersdale in the North West Counties League Premier Division is likely the toughest project of his football career to date.
Chimbonda took over with his side having picked up a pitiful tally of three points in 16 games.

He has managed to improve things somewhat, so far gathering five points during his six games in charge.
During a recent 6-0 battering against Colne, however, Chimbonda felt the need to deliver the hairdryer treatment.
Watched on by The Athletic, he delivered a stunning, X-rated dressing down of his players with his side 4-0 down at half-time.
He bellowed: “What the f***! What the f***! What the f***! What the f***! What the f***! Seriously, what the f***!

“Now go back out there and show a bit of f***ing something in the second half. Because this is a shambles. This is f***ing horrible. This is s***.
“If it wasn’t for him [pointing at goalkeeper Ben Barnes], it would be six or seven.”
Chimbonda’s epic rant saw him swear 72 times.
The former full-back had already been put in a foul mood by his players’ shoddy warm-up prior to the match.
He said ahead of the drubbing: “That warm-up was f***ing shocking. Seriously, listen to me. That 10 minutes is important. But that was so f***ing sloppy. That was crap.
“We cannot warm up like that again. We have to be better, much f***ing better.”
The result saw Skelmersdale fall to eight points from safety in the ninth-tier.
Back in the dressing room after the game Chimbonda questioned his players’ commitment to the cause.
He said: “Football is not f***ing nice. I love all of you. I would go to war for all of you.
“But I don’t know if you guys would go to war with me.”
Upon joining Skelmersdale Chimbonda cited Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Diego Simeone and Zinedine Zidane as his managerial inspirations.
He has so far found it difficult to find opportunities in the game, but remains ambitious nonetheless.
Chimbonda said: “I don’t know why this bias is still there because there are so many good black coaches who played a high level of football and you never see them involved in coaching or on different boards in football.
“I have had many people telling me ‘don’t give up’. One day maybe it will happen and you will open the door for other black coaches to be involved in the football industry.
“This challenge, if I have to accept it to go into football, I open my arms for it. I’m really pleased they gave me that opportunity to express myself.”
Always find it fascinating to see close-up what goes down in a dressing room.Grateful to Pascal Chimbonda and Skelmersdale United for letting me join them.Unfortunately, the game didn’t go to plan.
