Lockyer was conscious as he was stretchered off the pitch in tears before he was taken by ambulance to hospital.
Speaking to The Central Club podcast, he has now revealed all about his scare.
The Welsh international said: “I remember walking out with the boy and it was so hot. We were warming up in the sun and I remember thinking ‘wow’.
“I remember trying to find the shade and warm-up in the shaded bit and looking up at Coventry warming up in the shade and thinking ‘that’s unfair’.”

Once the game had started, he revealed how he successfully won his first battles with Coventry’s striker Viktor Gyokeres and then had an effort cleared off the line as he thought he’d made “the perfect start” to the game.
But then the terrifying moment came, as he explained: “I’m back-pedalling, and as I’m back-pedalling my head went really light-headed like nothing I’ve ever had before.
“It’s like when you stand up real quick but worse and then my legs went like jelly almost instantly and I remember falling backwards and the next thing I know I woke up and there were paramedics all around me.
“I remember waking up from a dream, I couldn’t tell you what it was about, but I remember having a dream.

“As soon as i came round i was like sweet again,”
Having unsuccessfully trying to convince the medics and physios that he was “good” to continue playing, Lockyer was rushed to hospital after first being checked in a medical room at Wembley.
He said: “It was a weird feeling of let-down, like I was letting the team down. There was nothing I could’ve done, but in that moment, I just felt like I’d let the boys down by getting stretchered off the pitch.
“I had the oxygen mask on and I just couldn’t stop crying.”
Lockyer was taken straight to a medical room at Wembley where his heart rate was “going through the roof” which caused a spike in blood pressure that caused him to collapse.
“Someone came running in that room screaming ‘tell him Jordan Clarke has scored,” revealed Lockyer.
“The weirdest thing was we were in Wembley still but I didn’t hear a thing when we scored.
“But I burst out crying again. I got whizzed off to hospital then in the ambulance watching it on my phone with my mum in the back of the ambulance.
“We got to the hospital, a really nice hospital, and it had Sky in the room. We watch all of extra-time in my room and then it went to penalties.
“That’s when my old man took the photo of me in my bed and my family celebrating with me. “But even then it was like a half-hearted celebration, no pun intended, because i hadn’t been told what was going on and I didn’t wanna raise my heart rate.”

Fortunately, after a minor heart surgery, he was given the all-clear to return to action and is now competing for the Hatters in the Premier League.
He has made 15 appearances for the club so far this season, and he has even managed to score his first top-flight goal, helping Luton win 2-1 at Everton in September.

Chelsea could SELL Conor Gallagher despite rejecting £40m transfer bids and leaving star surprised with captaincy

CHELSEA’S curious transfer policy faces yet another huge challenge when the window opens next month.Conor Gallagher is always the first name linked with the exit door at Stamford Bridge even though he is now more important than ever to guiding Chelsea through the latest rocky patch.

Injury to club captain Reece James this week leaves midfielder Gallagher as the only homegrown player in the first team with the experience to help the rookies through rough times.
A club source told SunSport: “He is perhaps the only fit player now who really understands what it means to be a Chelsea player.”
Gallagher, 23, has started every Premier League game he has been available for this season in a midfield that also includes British record signings Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
Accomplished stars like Raheem Sterling and Thiago Silva play a vital role but are relative newcomers to the club Gallagher has served since he was eight.
    READ MORE CHELSEA NEWS
Renowned as a formidable trainer, he has shrugged off constant speculation over his future to win over a succession of managers.
It happened this season after Tottenham, Everton and West Ham failed with bids of around £40 million in the summer to sign the occasional England international.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino even promoted Gallagher to captain, which came as a shock to the lifelong Chelsea fan from Surrey.

But now Pochettino is talking up transfers with the winter window opening on New Year’s Day and Chelsea languishing in 12th place.

An experienced striker has been talked about for weeks but that will cost big money and Gallagher is the most valuable asset at the moment.
Costing nothing to sign as an academy graduate, any fee Chelsea receive will be pure profit in physical terms and for the benefit of financial fair play.
Fellow ex-academy kids Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen would help the bank account but have played much less first team football than Gallagher.
Having splurged £1 billion on new players in the past 18 months with little to show for it so far, club owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali must balance the books and the squad for Pochettino.
Flogging Gallagher will bring in a few quid but will rob Chelsea of a key player who bleeds blue just when they need stability most.
Sunday’s crushing 2-0 defeat by Everton leaves them just ten points off the bottom three ahead of a treacherous home game with rejuvenated Sheffield United this Saturday.

Chelsea fans are crying out for a little of what they grew accustomed to with previous squads.
Winning aside, they are demanding players who will give everything for the club.
A source said: “Conor cannot be a captain like John Terry. He won’t do the things that Frank Lampard did and he is not Gianfranco Zola.
“But he is regarded as the best trainer at Chelsea by quite a few people because he has grown up there seeing the likes of JT and Frank be on it every single day.
“He didn’t ask to be made captain and was quite surprised when it came his way. But he accepted the challenge like he does with everything.”
Boehly and Behdad face the added dilemma of Gallagher’s contract which has 18 months left.
This time last year, midfielder Mason Mount was in the same position.
The Americans failed to tie down a player with Chelsea in his DNA who ended up leaving last summer in a £60 million deal with Manchester United.
That is ready cash in the bank but as each player who has been nurtured through the ranks at Stamford Bridge departs, something other than money changes hands.
    Read more on The Sun
Gallagher is ready to sign a new deal and has said so in public. The player’s issue is would he be a first team regular if the cursed injury list at Chelsea ever clears?
Boehly and Eghbali must decide whether to take short term financial gain to pay for another incomer to join their vastly inexperienced squad or do they nail Gallagher to the Chelsea flag. More

Man Utd transfer kitty hit for MILLIONS as staggering cost of embarrassing Champions League exit is revealed

MANCHESTER UNITED’S exit from the Champions League has cost the club millions in revenue. The Red Devils crashed out of the Champions League last night following their 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.
Manchester United’s loss to Bayern Munich has seen them lose out on millions in revenueCredit: Getty
Their failure to even get a point means they finished bottom of their group and won’t even be heading into the Europa League.
Without even accounting for the bump they would have received in TV revenue if they had reached the final, United will miss out on the £45million in prize money they would have received if they had reached the final.
While reaching the final was incredibly unlikely given the side’s struggles this season, The Telegraph report that United were accounting for at least reaching the quarter-finals this season.
By not reaching the quarters, United have lost out on a potential income of £27m.
    READ MORE MAN UTD NEWS
The club would have stood to receive around £8.2m in matchday income across the two home knockout ties plus £19.5m in prize money.
While the Europa League isn’t anywhere near as lucrative, United stood to receive £7.4m in prize money were they to drop into and win the competition.
United’s European exit could see them offload surplus squad players in January given they will no longer need such a large squad.
Exiled winger Jadon Sancho and attacking midfielder Donny van de Beek look nailed on to leave this window with Van de Beek attracting interest from Frankfurt and LaLiga leaders Girona.

Raphael Varane, Casemiro and Anthony Martial could all also leave if decent offers come in.
But United will be heavily limited in terms of incomings in January.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25 per-cent stake in the club still requires Premier League verification which will take between four and eight weeks. More

Can Newcastle expand St James’ Park? The problems in improving 52,000-seat stadium as new ground is proposed

ST JAMES’ PARK’S city centre location in Newcastle is both its strength and weakness — and Toon’s owners are discovering there is no easy solution as they try and pack more punters in.The ‘cathedral on the hill’ towers over everything else in Newcastle and has been the home of the Magpies since 1892.

Expanding the stadium is complicated by listed buildings behind the East StandCredit: The Sun
Less than two years before the Saudis took over in 2021, despised former owner Mike Ashley gave away 10,000 free season tickets.
But those disillusioned fans — and more  — are back and the club needs to maximise that potential revenue to stay at the top.
With a 52,000 capacity, St James’ Park is not big enough — but what can be done about it?
    What options are Newcastle considering?
Ideally, they would expand the stadium with the Gallowgate End and East Stand the two stands in theory able to house more fans.

They could also demolish St James’ and start again on the same site, or even find a new one.
    Why can’t they just expand?
This is where things get tricky.

Behind the East Stand there are listed Georgian buildings used as university accommodation so there is little room for manoeuvre.
And then the noisy Gallowgate  has its own complications.

The club purchased land behind it to turn into a fan zone, but there is a busy road leading to a hospital running by it and it has underground rail tunnels nearby.
What about starting from scratch in the same location?
This feels like the most likely solution at present.
The club, who this week surveyed fans for their thoughts, have hired the architects behind Tottenham’s stunning new stadium to put options on the table.
It would keep Newcastle at their spiritual home and enable them to build a swanky new modern arena capable of 65,000 sell-out crowds.
But there is no guarantee it is feasible.
If it is, would they take it down bit by bit while still playing there? If not, where would they move to while it’s being built? Sunderland?
    Why don’t they just move?
Buying a huge plot of land and starting again would be pocket change for the Saudis.
Yet given the uniqueness and history of St James’ Park, it would prove hugely divisive.

As Magpies boss Eddie Howe said: “My ideal would be that we stay at St James’ Park. It’s the heartbeat of the city and I wouldn’t want to see that change.”
Former chairman Sir John Hall proposed moving to Leazes Park just behind St James’ in 2007 but local opposition put paid to that. More

Keane slams Man Utd’s ‘disgraceful’ treatment of players and reveals he pleaded with team-mate ‘you don’t have to leave’

However, it is not his own treatment that has riled the outspoken Irishman.
He instead pointed to the exits of Jaap Stam and Paul Ince as an example of United’s shoddy treatment.
Fergie infamously axed Stam because he was upset about the Dutch defender’s autobiography.
While iconic midfielder Ince was dumped with the boss reportedly believing he was too ‘arrogant’.

And Keane defended the pair, even revealing he also had to tell Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he did not have to leave when Ferguson want him out.
Keane said on the Stick to Football podcast: “Manchester United are a great club, brilliant club, but the way they’ve treated players over the years and the way they’ve let players go – Jaap [Stam]’s not the first or the last that I’ve heard from – it’s absolutely disgraceful. Paul Ince – there’s loads of others.
“A lot of these players who probably didn’t think they’d done anything wrong. They were good pros and all that. I know sometimes you have to move players on.
“I said to Paul Ince, you didn’t have to leave, you’ve got a contract. I think Ole [Gunnar Solskjær] had the chance to leave, he said no.

“But when the manager is saying that to you, and you’re so hurt, and obviously you’ve got your pride, it’s hard to stay.”
Stam, 51, made 127 appearances for United and was part of the Treble winning side alongside Keane in 1999.
He was sold to Lazio in 2001 – a decision Ferguson later regretted as the centre-back continued to play at the highest level for several more years.
Reflecting on his sale, Ferguson said: “At the time he had just come back from an achilles injury and we thought he had just lost a little bit.
“We got the offer from Lazio, £16.5m for a centre back who was 29. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse. But in playing terms it was a mistake.” More

Garnacho has been a long admirer of Portuguese superstar and ex-teammate Ronaldo.
He has even adopted the Al Nassr icon’s trademark celebration – most recently after his sensational goal against Everton.
In 2022 the 19-year-old shared an image of Ronaldo on his Instagram calling the five-time Ballon d’Or winner the greatest of all time.
And it appears that his Argentinian mates have not let him forget his love for Lionel Messi’s long-term rival.

Roma star Paderes said: “We joked about it with him. He is very shy and does not answer.

“Although in this case he got very nervous and couldn’t talk. But as he said, I think he is his idol, he always followed him a lot and he plays quite similar.

Paredes is clearly referring to CR7’s great rival and fellow Hall-of-Famer Lionel Messi.
Garnacho was called up to play for his nation in March earlier this year but finally made his senior debut in June during a friendly against Australia.
He did not feature in La Albiceleste’s thriller clash against Brazil or Uruguay last month.
Garnacho hopes to return to playing with his countrymen for Copa America which takes place in June 2024.
In the meantime, the 19-year-old will continue to battle it out with United to ensure they secure a top-four finish in the Premier League after their miserable exit from the Champions League. More

Man Utd legend ‘worried about Ten Hag’ as he names two managers who could implement free-flowing style of play

JAAP STAM is “worried” about Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United after the club tamely dropped out of the Champions League on Tuesday. The Manchester United legend is confused about the Dutchman’s playing style and points out two Premier League bosses who have delivered the approach he had at Ajax.

United not only fell out of the Champions League, but out of European competition altogether following the Bayern defeat.
Finishing bottom of Group A meant Ten Hag’s troops failed to even make the Europa League.
And former Red Devils defender Stam is concerned about Ten Hag, who is set to face increased pressure after the disastrous result.
Ten Hag has clashed with ex-player Cristiano Ronaldo as well as current stars Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho.
    READ MORE MAN UTD NEWS
And certain portions of the media have been banned from press conferences.
Stam, who won the Treble with United in 1999, told the Stick to Football podcast by Sky Bet: “He has got to be worried and thinking about what’s going to happen now.
“You can ban players, but it’s also about man-management of course and how to work with and handle players.
“There was the Cristiano Ronaldo thing, the Jadon Sancho thing, Raphael Varane probably – I don’t know if something’s happened over there.

“There’s the thing with the press now and banning journalists from press conferences. It doesn’t work in your favour as a manager.
“You need to have peace and quiet… you don’t want to pay too much attention to other things like players and the press.
“You need to fully focus, and I don’t think you want to talk about players or what players think about you as a manager.
“I worry a little bit for him and that’s why it would be good if he gets the results.”
Ten Hag had a successful first term at Old Trafford finishing third in the league and winning the EFL Cup.
But this season and £400million later the Dutchman’s side has regressed.
Compared to his success at Ajax where he won three Eredivisie titles, Stam cannot understand why the Man Utd boss has not delivered the same success at Old Trafford.
The ex-Ajax star even suggested how Spurs’ Ange Postecoglou and Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi have been able to reflect the free-flowing style Ten Hag once had.
He added: “I think he’s a good coach and I’m wondering this myself and we even asked him for ViaPlay – when are we going to see this style of play we saw at Ajax?
“He made a certain comment and he mentioned that he could never play the way he played at Ajax over here.
“I’m surprised because I’ve seen Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham with Ange Postecoglou and how they’re playing.”
