A 2-0 defeat to Chelsea followed by a 3-3 draw at Crystal Palace, bottling a three-goal lead in the final ten minutes, was enough to hand Manuel Pelligrini’s side the trophy by two points.
The Blues’ shock victory at Anfield in April nearly ten years ago is one of the league’s most unforgettable moments.
Steven Gerrard slipped while in possession to let Demba Ba run through and finish before Willian wrapped up the victory.
Mourinho celebrated madly, running up the touchline and hitting his chest to the fury of Liverpool supporters.

His passion and lack of changes to the starting XI was a surprise to most as the match was sandwiched between their two Champions League semi-final legs against Atletico Madrid, which Chelsea ended up losing.
Mourinho has now revealed why he was so desperate to spoil Liverpool’s party.
And it was not to do with getting one over his former assistant and then Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.
The now Roma boss was instead motivated by the Premier League’s scheduling and Liverpool fans’ too soon title celebrations.

Mourinho told The Obi One Podcast: “It was nothing to do with Brendan. In many fun moments, we used to call Brendan ‘The Special Two’. We had a very good relationship.
“What happened was we were in the Champions League semi-final and this game (against Liverpool) means nothing because we were going to finish second or third.
“I wanted to play the game on Friday night or Saturday. The Premier League didn’t do that for us.
“We were crying, we were complaining, we were begging, and they were saying it was because of audiences, because of Sky, because of I don’t know what.
“For us it was about reaching the Champions League final, but I couldn’t go and play Liverpool with our Under 18s. It wouldn’t have been fair to Man City for us to go there even with our second team, so we wanted to do things in the right way.
“We wanted to play on the Friday night or on Saturday at 12pm maximum. They didn’t give us that, so when we went there to destroy their party.
“We went there like we were playing for the title, which we weren’t, but we gave everything to try to win.
“Of course, I gave a bit of rest to one or two guys, I played young Tomas Kalas, who had a fantastic game against Luis Suarez.
“We were on the bus and the guys outside were selling shirts with ‘Liverpool Champions’ on.
“You can’t allow that as Chelsea. You have to keep the marketing and merchandise in a box.

“We played a fantastic match. Of course, Stevie G slipped and he was the last person who deserved that to happen, but that’s part of football and in reality we played so well.
“I even felt sorry for Brendan because I’m always supporting my friends, but on matchday friends stay at home.”

The England international is “open to the move” as he has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad.

The club later confirmed that he remains stable in hospital.
Lockyer is lucky to be alive and has the quick-responding medics and his fellow players to thank.
Bournemouth star Philip Billing was one of the first to spot the 29-year-old defender on the floor and rushed to him.
Luton manager Rob Edwards has also been praised after he sprinted onto the pitch and waved players away to allow for paramedics to reach Lockyer as quickly as possible.

The boss could be seen shouting “away, away” to members of both teams.
Medical staff gave Lockyer CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and used an AED (automated external defibrillator).
The combination of the two saved his life due to the speed of which they were administered.
Lockyer is now set for tests on all organs, with the heart and brain most urgent.

This is likely to include X-rays, an echocardiogram and brain scans.
His family are also entitled to be a screening by the NHS.
According to the Heart Research Institute UK, 90 per cent of the more than 30,000 cardiac arrests that occur outside hospitals each year in the UK are fatal.
Every week in this country, 12 seemingly fit and healthy young people aged under 35 die from undiagnosed cardiac conditions.
Receiving care as soon as possible is the difference between surviving and passing away – without treatment death is inevitable.
In a cardiac arrest, the heart suddenly stops pumping blood.
It getd out of rhythm and stops beating, leaving the sufferer without a pulse and breath.
The brain and other vital organs don’t receive oxygen and within four to six minutes there can be significant brain damage with them unconscious.
It differs from a heart attack as there is no block of blood flow.
A cardiac arrest is instead caused by an electrical disturbance and it impacts the ability for the heart to work.
Lockyer previously suffered a medical emergency in the Championship play-off final at Wembley in May.
He similarly collapsed and was rushed to hospital after receiving treatment on the pitch.
Following an operation, the Welsh international revealed he had an atrial fibrillation, which is a condition that causes an irregular and often abnormally fast heart rate.
The clash between Bournemouth and Luton was abandoned after the worrying scenes with players in “no state of mind to continue”.

LUTON TOWN will review their medical protocol after Tom Lockyer collapsed on the pitch at Bournemouth.Saturday’s Premier League match between Luton and the Cherries was stopped and abandoned in the 59th minute at 1-1 as medics tended to Lockyer, who suffered a cardiac arrest off the ball.

The Hatters recently confirmed their captain remains in hospital where he is undergoing tests as well as scans and is in a stable condition.
This was the second time in seven months that the centre-back collapses during a match.
The same happened in May during the Championship play-off final against Coventry when the 29-year-old was taken to hospital before Rob Edwards’ stars earned Premier League promotion
The Wales international was later diagnosed with an atrial fibrillation, a condition that causes an irregular and often fast heartbeat.

Lockyer was then given the all-clear to return to football in June after undergoing an operation.
According to The Mail, however, this time round Luton will review that decision once medical experts have further information on the cause behind the incident at the Vitality Stadium.
A source close to the Luton player told the publication: “This will be something we all look into more now.
“The physios, the club doctor, the specialists all did their work and worked with him in the summer and he was OK.
    Most read in Football
“It’s just getting through this one test at a time. Comparing it to the summer will be something that happens when we know what went on on Saturday.”
The Premier League rules state players must undergo annual cardiac testing, with any further cardiac investigations or follow-ups performed as advised by an expert’s opinion.
The same report claims it is unclear if Lockyer underwent further testing since receiving heart surgery. More

Toney, 27, will have 18 months remaining on his Brentford contract next month and is said to be “excited” by the prospect of moving to the Emirates.
Arsenal face competition from Chelsea and Tottenham for Toney’s signature.
While Brentford will likely try to keep hold of their star man.

Should the Gunners fail to land Toney, the Star claim that they could turn to Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke.
The one-cap England international has had a quietly superb season, notching eight goals in 16 Premier League outings.
Bournemouth are said to value Solanke, 26, at around £50million.
The Cherries signed him from Liverpool back in January 2019.

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson in X-rated blast at critics and names two Premier League rivals he is taking lead from

NICOLAS JACKSON has hit out at the critics of Chelsea he claims are ‘talking s**t.’The outspoken striker notched his seventh and easiest Premier League goal so far in his debut season and toasted it with an industrial expletive-laden defence of his team.

Chelsea have struggled for consistency with new boss Mauricio Pochettino and £1billion worth of new players and have won just three home league games, leading to widespread debate about where the club is going.
But hothead Jackson said: “Results are not coming, every team goes through this because we are all new players, we have a new coach and we are trying to know ourselves and trying to improve every day.
“People who don’t know football, talk s**t about the players on the pitch but people who know football they don’t talk about this because they know.
“You never hear big players or big names or people who know football talking s**t about any player so we just walk on and forget about those people and try to work and focus on getting better.

“I should have scored more because I have missed some chances. The Premier League is different to LaLiga where I am trying to adapt.
“It is not an excuse. I am trying to work harder and listen to people.

“He has seen people worse than me and they are now big players. Kevin De Bruyne was here and Mo Salah was here and now they are big players.
“They struggled here but they didn’t listen to people who don’t know football and now they are big players, he keeps telling me that.
“He just tells me to not listen to people who do not know football. All the people that talk s**t, they don’t know football so I don’t listen to them.
“We don’t come here for holidays. We try to win every game, we try to win for the coach and giving us motivation every day, every game because he has passed through this situation.
“We are very happy that he is doing that and helping the young players. We are all new and we are all going through it and we are going to win games.”
Feisty Jackson, 22, joined Chelsea in a £32million deal in the summer from Spanish side Villareal.
His strong character has already led to a ban for picking up five bookings. He readily admits adapting from Spanish to roughhouse English football is tough.
Bottom-club United join only Luton Town and Brighton as the three teams to lose a Premier League match at what was once fortress Stamford Bridge.
Jackson’s 61st minute tap in was enough to seal a vital three points for Chelsea against Sheffield United and stop the rot after two straight defeats.
It still wasn’t convincing until boss Pochettino shifted tactics at half time to unleash his wannabe winger Cole Palmer with Raheem Sterling charging through the middle.
Palmer set up Jackson to prod the ball into an empty net seven minutes after scoring himself.
With that in mind prickly Jackson reflected on the start to his career in English football, adding: “It is OK, it is not what I was going for, though it is my first season so I am happy, although everybody is talking s**t, I am very happy I don’t care what people say.
“It is just people who don’t know about football who talk s**t so I don’t care what people say.

“I will just continue to play more games and score more goals for the team.”
Chelsea’s passionate forward resorted to four letter words five times to get his point across. If this is what he is like after a win, steer clear after a defeat. More
