I’m ex-Premier League star who got into a brawl at Christmas party, then I fought on Evander Holyfield’s undercard

IT’S the season of good cheer, and that’s been the case for Premier League footballers over the past weeks as they let loose at club Christmas parties before a huge festive fixture list. But these events can often get out of hand, as was the case with one Premier League star who ended up sacked as a result of his antics at his club’s celebrations.

Denmark midfielder Stig Tofting, 54, arrived at Bolton Wanderers in 2002 with his fair share of baggage, having been given a suspended jail sentence for assault in 1999.
Then when he was on the books of Sam Allardyce’s side he was sent to prison for four months after headbutting a Copenhagen cafe owner during Denmark’s post-2002 World Cup celebrations.
That incident led to his Bolton contract being shortened and his eventual release in June 2003.
After a spell in China, Tofting moved back to his homeland and joined AGF Aarhus in 2004.

However, during a Christmas lunch, he was reported to have punched four of his team-mates after his shirt was ripped.
In a 2018 interview with the Daily Mail, Tofting did his best to play down the incident.
The former midfield enforcer, who was nicknamed The Lawnmower for covering every blade of grass on the field, said: “The Rumble in the Jungle? One of my team-mates tore my shirt, so we had a fight.
“There was a clause in my contract that, if I did something to harm the club, they could sack me. So they sacked me.”

Though Tofting was plagued by controversy off the pitch during his playing days, he has enjoyed a successful post-playing career as a pundit in Denmark.
And he also entered into the world of celebrity boxing.
The Dane, who won his first fight against a reality TV star in eight seconds, said: “He was nothing, my little boy could have knocked him out.”
However, in his second bout, Tofting would fight on the undercard of former undisputed heavyweight champ Evander Holyfield.
He said: “My opponent was 15 kilos heavier and he used to box.
“I knocked him down in the first round. I should have finished him, I had him.
“It went four rounds and it was a draw, my perfect record gone! But to get in that ring, it’s terrifying.”
    CHILDHOOD TRAUMA
Many of Tofting’s violent outbursts may be explained by the childhood trauma of his father shooting his mother and then killing himself when he was just 13.
But today he has managed to make his peace with the horrific incident as best he can, and even now has a tattoo saying ‘No Regrets’ across his chest.
Tofting said: “I learned to live with the memory of that day.
“In that situation, I could not do anything. There were two other possibilities — if I had been at home, maybe I could have prevented it, but if not, I could have gone as well, and I wouldn’t be here now.”
Interestingly, one of the few people able to intimidate him after he endured such a tough life was ex-boss Sam Allardyce.
Tofting commented: “My first game against West Ham, we came in at half-time and he was angry.
“I remember his hands, twice as big as mine. He punched the tactics board and kicked the bag of balls. He was screaming. I liked it.

“I was trying not to laugh, I had my mouth inside my shirt. I thought, ‘Oh f***, if he sees me he’s going to kick my a***’.
“We won 1-0! I thought, ‘I’m in the right place here’.”

Tottenham eye transfer raid for Dominic Solanke after cooling interest in alternative Premier League striker

SPURS are monitoring Dominic Solanke – as they look to sign a striker in the Summer. The Bournemouth hitman, who scored a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, has taken the Premier League by storm this year.
Solanke scored a stunning hat-trick against Nottingham Forest on SaturdayCredit: Getty
And Sun Online can reveal that Tottenham are “closely watching” the striker’s progress.
A source said: “Spurs want to sign a striker in the Summer. The club hasn’t replaced Harry Kane so recruiting a new forward is a big priority and Solanke is someone they are closely monitoring.
“They’ve sent scouts to watch him already several times this season, and they will continue to track him into the New Year.
“He ticks a lot of boxes for Spurs, and Bournemouth know if he carries on showing the kind of form he is then they will struggle to stop other clubs from sniffing around him. They are bracing themselves for bids.”

Spurs are also keen on Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, but interest in the Irishman has reportedly cooled and Solanke is seen as a “better prospect”.
The source added: “Tottenham want a focal point striker who has scored 11 goals in the Premier League, and Solanke has shown this season that he has the potential to play at a higher level.
Spurs will be closely watching him between now and the end of the season.
Our story comes amid reports Arsenal are also looking at the Bournemouth hitman.

Liverpool are in line to make millions should Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke leave the seaside club this season.
Solanke played 27 times for Liverpool after signing from Chelsea six years ago and went on to join the Cherries in a deal which totalled £24 million back in 2019.
But the deal includes a buy-back option, and 20 per cent sell-on clauses.
His goals at the weekend took his tally to 11 in 17 games in the Premier League this term, with only Erling Haaland and Mo Salah ahead of him in the goalscoring charts. More

How every Premier League stadium will look in 100 years according to AI with Emirates on its own ISLAND

STADIUMS looking like airports for aliens. Colourful streaks of fire worthy of Olympic opening ceremonies.AI predictions of how Premier League grounds will look a century from now dazzles the mind as much as the eyes.
Arsenal’s Emirates is one of the most modern stadiums in the land but it’s one of many grounds that could get a dramatic new lookCredit: Getty
It might seem like neon light years away from today’s world but Old Trafford as it is now could be much changed by 2123Credit: Getty
Arsenal’s stadium could evolve into an oval temple on its own island as sailing boats drift by on the surrounding water.
And Old Trafford might become the most ironic name for a venue in sport, judging by the shimmering new jewel of a ground that could emerge on the current site.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s neighbours City may find their capacity swelling by a greater margin over the next 100 years than their trophy cabinet has grown over the past decade.
Betting Sites called in AI to assess how today’s 20 Prem stadiums will look in a century’s time.
    READ MORE TOP STORIES
So, here in 2023, image generation software Midjourney has produced a 20-20 vision of 2123 – if you are still following me….
Of course, the only thing less likely than the predictions being entirely right is the Prem still consisting of exactly the same 20 teams.
But at least none of us will be around on 2123 social media to read the trolls mocking the verdicts of 2023 AI!
So read on to see where Midjourney arrives after a “ground-breaking” long trip into the future judging what will become of each stadium.
    Most read in Football
    Arsenal
The Gunners will travel thousands of miles as well as a 100 years – according to AI.
That’s because the Emirates Stadium looks like it will have copied the Middle East – with skyscrapers to one side and an extravagant water feature all around it.
The Gunners could be making waves or at least ripples in 2123 if this predicted appearance for the stadium proves to be true
Here’s how the Emirates looks now – certainly less cosy!Credit: PA
The venue, in fact, is similar to the Palm Islands in the United Arab Emirates – three artificial areas on the coast of Dubai.
Arsenal’s current ground was only completed in 2006, holding up to 60,704 fans – for now anyway.
    Aston Villa
A rising ruby of a stadium or intimidating architecture far removed from the average fan’s comfort zone for a football venue?
The 2123 Villa Park, with its multi-tiers and wider look at the top, might just divide opinion…
But the aging current version has housed the Villans since 1897.
And already the club hope to expand capacity from 42,682 to 50,065, with a huge refurbishment in time for Euro 2028.
Villa Park might be glowing after another 100 years
Aston Villa is one of many Prem stadiums tipped for a major overhaulCredit: Reuters
    Bournemouth
Fitting for a venue called the Vitality Stadium, the Cherries’ possible future facilities have an airier, leafier look outside.
For some, the smooth look might be more akin to a travel terminus than a site for blood-and-thunder footie.
But whatever the case, it seems sure to hold far more than the ground’s modern-day limit of 11,307.
The Cherries’ home could also move far away from a traditional look
The Vitality Stadium as it is now looks small by comparisonCredit: Getty
    Brentford
The Bees would light up West London with their sleek but individual look to the 2123 version of the Gtech Community Stadium.
One end of the venue will not even be covered, while one side is a complex of buildings.
That bit even looks a bit, well, 2023-ish – but that’s not surprising, perhaps, as the stadium was only opened in 2020, currently welcoming up to 17,500 spectators.
Brentford’s future facilities look busy but quite compact
This neat ground could go from Gtech to extra hi-tech in 100 yearsCredit: Rex
    Brighton
Blending perfectly with the sea in the background, this vision of the Seagulls’ future offers a cosy stadium enclosed in see-through material.
Trees around the ground add to the pleasant look.
All in all, another landmark treat for fans, who saw Brighton’s ground worries finally ended with a move to the new Amex Stadium in 2011.
Brighton’s venue could match the sea background

    Burnley
A flash of light and a dash of Claret!
AI predicts a bright future for Burnley – with a stand that seems to bend along two sides and fireworks shooting out amid the roofing.
Pretty impressive considering the Clarets have been at Turf Moor since 1883, making it the the second-longest continuously-used ground in England – behind Preston’s Deepdale.
The Clarets will light up the football world, judging by this look
Without change, historic Turf Moor looks a decent blend of old and newCredit: Alamy
    Chelsea
Many observers reckon Stamford Bridge – the Blues’ west London home since 1905 – needs a revamp.
But the huge oyster of the predicted 2123 stadium is also surrounded by a different environment – seemingly the homes and offices of four generations into our future.
    New century, new setting?
It certainly adds class and distinction to a ground, first opened in 1877, that currently holds up to 40,343.
Stamford Bridge might get an atmospheric sheen

    Crystal Palace
May believe the Palace always love a cover story…
So how about this – a dome with a massive see-through roof covering all the pitch.
And judging by this image of a transformed Selhurst Park, there’s plenty of green space for fans around the ground.
All that would be such a huge hop, skip and jump from when the stadium hosted events at the 1948 Summer Olympics, which was held 24 years after the venue was opened.
Selhurst Park as it could be appears more welcoming than most grounds

    Everton
Have we caught AI cheating? Go and stand in the corner and print out 100 lines!
This predicted version of where the Toffees could be at in 100 years looks suspiciously similar to how their upcoming new Bramley-Moore Dock venue will look.
The £500million, environmentally-friendly replacement for Goodison Park could be ready for the start of next season – giving more than a hint of its appearance 99 years on from that.
Everton’s vision of the future might be closer than most

    Fulham
Fans would be sad to to see much change to the tight, atmospheric Craven Cottage – apart from the desire for extra capacity.
Luckily, Midjourney. suggest Fulham in 2123 will keep plenty of the charm afloat – with the new Riverside stand actually moving ON to the Thames.
So, at least in part of the stadium, it will be the fans rather than their heroes who almost walk on water.
Fulham moved to the Cottage back in 1896 and the main scope for improvement must be the numbers it can hold, with a maximum of only 22,384 at the moment.
Craven Cottage might get a dramatic expansionCredit: Not known, clear with picture desk

    Liverpool
Anfield might get a revamp akin to a reboot of a classic sportscar accelerating threw decades of design.
This depiction appears to blend the tradition of one of the top-flight’s most famous old stadiums with ultra-advanced touches.
And there’s roofing curved all around rather than today’s jagged mix of stands.
The Reds have been at Anfield since the club was formed in 1892 and will soon expand capacity from 54,074 to 61,276.
Anfield’s stands could get a stylish covering
Liverpool’s nostalgic stadium might get a more graceful but arguably less iconic lookCredit: Alamy
    Luton Town
Kenilworth Road could also stay in touch with its roots, if this computer-generated image proves accurate.
The current 11,5000-seat site is expected to swell its capacity by 2123 via large stands with massive roofs jutting out.
The Hatters have been here since 1905, with one strange distinction being a five-year ban for all away fans from 1985 following a riot by visiting supporters.
Luton in the 22nd century might still play at what appears reasonably similar to a 21st century venue
Kenilworth Road seems sure to lose its ultra compact appearanceCredit: Getty
    Manchester City
Wherever City play it will be a pleasure dome – if they are somehow again, or still, at the top of the Prem tree in 100 years’ time.
But the expanded Etihad that is predicted appears to be even more of a huge all-purpose entertainment centre than is planned in the current revamp.
The maximum attendance is expected to soar way beyond its current 53,400 over the next ten decades way – and with a more graceful look to the arena.
However, many non-Mancunians might ask mischievously: Will there still be too such colossal clubs so close to each other in 2123?
The future Etihad could be a design classic
The 2022-23 Treble winners might see exciting developments to their stadiumCredit: Alamy
    Manchester United
Mixing the spirit of the past with the energy of the future, “Old” Trafford looks supercharged for success, based on the AI depiction.
Studded with huge scarlet images lighting up the outside, the future 2123 image could actually be a nod (forwards or is that backwards?) to the refurbishment promised now by incoming shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
But despite an aging current stadium, some Red Devils’ fans might be more worried about whether it will take the club 100 years to find the right long-term replacement for legendary manager Alex Ferguson.
Nonetheless, Old Trafford still has the highest capacity, at 74,310, for club football in the UK.
Many fans might just about still recognise this future look
The Red Devils’ ground is set for a revamp, sooner AND laterCredit: Rex
    Newcastle
St James’s Park could dominate the Newcastle landscape from a longer distance – and more elegantly – 100 years on.
Midjourney expects the Magpies’ giant nest – home since 1892 – to lose its status as one of the few top-flight grounds perched slap-bang in a city centre.
Fast forward a century and it will be smoothed out into a rounded stadium.
And, like many of the predicted new-looks for Prem grounds, appears to have found loads of extra space outside for fans to gather.
Milburn Stand will tower even higher – but apparently combine with Leazes End to curve around the venue.
Future St James’ Park is identifiable by its black and white tones
The Magpies’ ground has seen many changes, with capacity now at 52,305Credit: Rex
    Nottingham Forest
An exciting new growth for the Forest – after being at the City Ground since 1898?
But rather than particularly branching up or out, it appears the stadium could get mainly stylish cosmetic improvements by 2123.
However, as the venue is set on the River Trent, perhaps Midjourney was just having AI-ter’s block when it came up with this vision.
The future City Ground also has a familiar look
Nottingham Forest’s current venue holds 30,455Credit: Getty
    Sheffield United
The oldest major football stadium in the world could leap light years into the future – based on the laser-like trimming predicted for Bramall Lane in 2123.
The ground opened in 1855, with the Blades moving in 34 years later.
And judging by the spangly image generated for the next century, United could also be hosting rock concerts by then – perhaps partying like it’s 2099.
Laser-like red streaks would give Bramall Lane an exciting edge
The modern-day ground can take up to 32,050 spectatorsCredit: Getty
    Tottenham
Moving Tottenham Stadium, even over a 100-year period, might seem a task akin to our ancient forefathers shifting Stonehenge.
But Midjourney appears to think Spurs’ massive modern 62,850-cpacity stadium will have a fresh setting.
Or maybe football has just gone even more eco-friendly.
The North London venue’s 2123 version has trees frothing round it – and plenty of walking space.
Fireworks are also envisaged – a bit like Tottenham’s early form after they appointed Ange Postecoglou as manager at the start of 2023-24.
Spurs’ ground is set to be even more of a gym
The Tottenham Stadium is often rated the best Prem groundCredit: Rex
    West Ham
There’s no hint in the AI image as to whether the Hammers, in 100 years’ time, will have tackled the main issue for many fans – the large gap between the stands and the pitch.
But from the outside, London Stadium looks even bigger than the current dome, which was built for the 2016 Olympics.
The 80,000-capacity venue looms like the world’s biggest, shiniest dish, with the addition of leafy walkways for fans around the ground.
London Stadium is another venue predicted for extra vibrancy

    Wolves
Moli-NEW! With sharper angles than a Lionel Messi dribble, Wolves’ 2123 stadium will have extra bite around the edges.
Home to the Midlanders since 1889, Molineux was one of the first grounds to get floodlights in the 1950s.
    Read more on The Sun
Four decades later it was ahead of the game once more with a costly revamp.
And there’s no chance of the Wolves getting long in the tooth if they adopt the dashing lines of flashing gold, as envisaged by AI.

Arsenal’s Invincibles are the biggest ‘one-man team’ in Premier League history according to goalscoring stats

ARSENAL’S Invincibles are the biggest “one-man team” to win a Premier League title this century, according to new research. The Gunners famously won the league unbeaten in 2003/04 to claim their 13th title.

However, goalscoring stats have now shown that Arsene Wenger’s side were incredibly reliant on Thierry Henry’s form in front of goal.
Research from BonusCodeBets.co.uk into the biggest “one-man teams” in the Premier League this century has revealed some surprising results.
The data was produced by analysing every goal scored in the league since 2000.
Arsenal’s 2003/04 side were found to have the highest proportion of goals scored by one player in a title-winning side.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Henry’s 30 league goals accounted for a whopping 41 per cent of the Gunners total tally, with the proportion rising to 60 per cent when paired with Robert Pires’ 14-goal haul.
The French forward came out on top ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo’s 39 per cent contribution for Manchester United in 2007/08 and Erling Haaland last season, with his 36 strikes powering Manchester City to glory.
Elsewhere, Harry Kane was found to have carried his side more than any other player.
The England captain scored at least a quarter of Tottenham’s goals in eight different seasons.

Overall, Kane bagged 213 goals in 317 Premier League appearances before his summer move to Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Southampton’s 2002/03 side proved to be the most “one-man team” of all.
James Beattie scored 23 of the Saints’ 43 goals for a 53 per cent contribution as they finished eighth in the top flight.
The research also looked into sides who narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League this century.
Christian Benteke scored 42 per cent of Aston Villa’s goals in the 2014/15 campaign to save his club from the drop.
His 13 strikes from a total of 31 proved to be the highest proportion that saved a team from relegation as Villa finished just three points above the bottom three.

The supercomputer expects Eddie Howe’s side to fall to a 2-1 home defeat against Forest.
Forest have not won a league game at St. James’ Park since 1988 but the Magpies have a shocking record on Boxing Day, winning just once since 2013.

Fulham are predicted to win 3-0 away to Bournemouth along with a 1-0 win for Luton at Sheffield United in the 3pm matches.
Liverpool are also expected to have plenty of festive cheer thanks to a 4-0 win at Burnley..
Meanwhile, there will not be a record-extending Boxing Day win for United.
The Red Devils have won 21 of their 27 Premier League matches on December 26, giving them the best record of any side in the league’s history.
Erik ten Hag’s side are predicted to be held to a 2-2 draw by high-flying Villa, though, despite winning eight of their last 10 league meetings at Old Trafford.
Villa do have an encouraging recent record against United, however, beating their opponents at home last November as well as securing a 1-0 win on the road in April 2021.
The Boxing Day line-up of matches will be followed by five more fixtures on December 27 and 28 to complete matchday 19.
Amongst those involved later in the week are Manchester City, who visit Everton, and Arsenal in a home clash with West Ham.

My dad won it all with Man Utd and is now famous pundit – now I’m making my own way at Premier League rivals

THE name Ferdinand has been etched into Premier League history.Les was one of the best strikers in the land with 149 goals while cousin and defender Anton racked up 218 appearances for West Ham, Sunderland and QPR.

But his brother Rio enjoyed the most success, winning six Premier League titles at the heart of Manchester United’s defence under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ferdinand remains one of the best defenders England has produced – as demonstrated by twice holding the British transfer record and the tag as the world’s most expensive defender.
But now his son Lorenz has ambitions of becoming the fourth member of the Ferdinand family to play in the Premier League – and the first do so as a GOALKEEPER.
And he can count on his dad for plenty of wisdom.

Rio Ferdinand, 45, came through the youth academy with Frank Lampard at West Ham before joining Leeds for £18million in November 2000.
After helping the Whites reach the Champions League semi-finals and being named club captain, he was controversially sold to rivals Manchester United in 2002 for £29m.
Ferdinand was a key man at Old Trafford – bouncing back from a harsh eight-month ban for accidentally missing a drugs test – and captained the side when they lifted the Champions League against Chelsea in 2008.
The centre-back also collected the Club World Cup and two League Cups in his 455 Red Devils games before joining QPR for the final season of his career.

Internationally, he racked up 81 caps and went to the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cups before missing South Africa 2010 through injury.
Ferdinand made his debut aged 19 and was captain from 2010 to 2011.
After hanging up his boots, the footballer wanted to give boxing a go but was refused a licence.
He has since gone into a successful career as a pundit for TNT Sports and the BBC alongside his own podcast and music label, while his Manchester restaurant Russo has now closed.

Ferdinand is also a dad of five children.
Three of them – Lorenz, Tate and Tia – were with his first wife Rebecca Ellison who tragically died of breast cancer in 2015.
Ferdinand has since remarried former The Only Way Is Essex star Kate Wright, with the couple welcoming son Cree before daughter Shae arrived in July 2023.
But it is his oldest kid that is excelling on the football field.
Lorenz, 17, is in the Brighton & Hove Albion academy and shining for the Seagulls’ youngsters in the Under-18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup.
But step-mum Kate revealed the pain of seeing him move out of the family home to live in digs on the south coast.

She said: “He doesn’t live at home at the moment. He’s living with another family.
“I was devastated when he moved out. It’s a real big thing, I was emotional. I miss him so much. We still see him twice a week but it’s taken a lot of getting used to.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe Man Utd takeover LIVE: £1.3bn announcement made, Graham Potter updates, statement in full

SIR JIM RATCLIFFE’S £1.3bn takeover of Manchester United has FINALLY been announced. The British billionaire has purchased a £1.3billion stake in the Red Devils from the Glazer family.
Ratcliffe’s Ineos group will control the footballing operations, and he has already promised huge investment for Old Trafford.
Follow ALL of the latest updates below…

    Supporters Trust Sceptical
Manchester United’s Supporters Trust have issued a statement on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of shares in the club, which they have reacted to with scepticism.
It read: “During 18 years of debt, decay and mismanagement, Manchester United fans have loudly and consistently called for change at our Club.
“When the so-called Strategic Review was announced nearly a year ago, it finally appeared that the sale of the club was on the horizon, potentially bringing the new investment and new direction MUFC so clearly needs.
“Against that backdrop, fans have very mixed feelings today. We welcome the investment from a boyhood red, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS company, but many will wish his ownership stake was greater than the initially rumoured 25%.
“We note the statements that he and his team will control sporting activities, yet puzzle how any organisation can put its very core business in the hands of a minority shareholder, and how that meaningfully works in practice.
“It is now incumbent on the Club’s owners and management to properly explain how this new structure will work, where the new investment will be directed and how it will benefit the team on the field.
“As the Supporters Trust, we expect to have discussions with the Club management and the INEOS team in the near future to understand their plans, and to put to them the very many questions fans have today.
“Today might – just might – be a step forward for Manchester United after some very difficult years.
“But with the Glazers still in charge, people should understand that United fans will remain sceptical and wait for the proof in the pudding.”

    Osimhen hope
Victor Osimhen’s agent has refused to rule out a summer exit for his client, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Roberto Calenda said: “Look, last summer many offers arrived, even monstrous ones.
“But De Laurentiis wanted to keep Victor, and we made ourselves available.
“If there had been the desire to leave, we would have said so. And instead, we worked, and a lot, only upon renewal.
“And next summer, it will be the same: we will talk to De Laurentiis and see together what to do.”
    Glazers in the money
The Glazer family are reportedly pocketing close to a three-quarters of a BILLION pounds for the sale of their B shares.
The American magnates officially offloaded 25 per cent of their shares to Britain’s richest man this week.
And figures from the sale have revealed the fan-loathed family have banked £717,131,000 for parting ways with the shares.
    Ratcliffe’s decision on Ten Hag
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly made a decision on Erik ten Hag’s future at the club.
The Dutchman’s future at Old Trafford is on a knife-edge due to a string of poor results this season.
It’s understood Ratcliffe is contemplating axing the former Ajax man if results don’t improve.
But Give Me Sport claims Britain’s richest man won’t make a decision on Ten Hag’s future until the end of the season.
    Untrustworthy stars
Gary Neville has singled out has claimed Manchester United stars can’t be trusted to perform consistently.
He said on his Sky Sports podcast: “It doesn’t surprise me.
“I didn’t get carried away when they played against Liverpool because I thought Liverpool were below par.
“United were relatively poor in possession.
“But they showed resilience and you always have to respect a draw at Anfield.
“Now, what we see from this team, and I don’t just mean under his manager, is pretty much the same. You can’t trust them.
“They will let you down when they give you a glimmer of hope that they might be on track, they go lose a game they shouldn’t.
“They have Aston Villa on Boxing Day but could lose against NottinghamForest four days later.”
    Ratcliffe’s message
In case you missed it, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has issued a heartfelt message to Manchester United fans following his acquisition of 25 per cent of the club.
He said: “Our shared ambition is clear: we all want to see Manchester United back where we belong, at the very top of English, European and world football.
“As a local boy and a lifelong supporter of the Club, I am very pleased that we have been able to agree a deal with the Manchester United Board that delegates us management responsibility of the football operations of the club.
“Whilst the commercial success of the Club has ensured there have always been available funds to win trophies at the highest level, this potential has not been fully unlocked in recent times.
“We will bring the global knowledge, expertise and talent from the wider INEOS Sport group to help drive further improvement at the Club, while also providing funds intended to enable future investment into Old Trafford.
“We are here for the long term and recognise that a lot of challenges and hard work lie ahead, which we will approach with rigour, professionalism and passion”.
