    Trampoline
Young United fans had to wait a year to get their hands on a trampoline the last time the club lost five matches in December.
The garden staple was not invented by George Nissen and Larry Griswold until 1934.
    Ballpoint pen
Ten Hag would have been without a pen to make notes during his side’s losses, too.
Ballpoint pens were introduced five years later in 1938 by Hungarian inventor Laszlo Biro.

    Credit card
It would be almost two decades until credit cards became part of everyday life.
The bank payment cards have been in use since 1950 and were the brainchild of Frank X McNamara.
    Lego
Children had to wait another five years before they could play with Lego, though.
Since its foundation in 1955, Lego has become the world’s largest toy manufacturer and expanded into films, games and amusement parks.

    Velcro
The name given to hook-and-loop fasteners came from the brand which invented them in 1956.
Velcro has a range of uses, including on shoes and attaching items to surfaces, but was not around until 23 years after United’s last five-loss December.

    Mobile phone
Unsurprisingly, mobile phones were still over four decades away from being invented when the Red Devils were beaten five times in December 1933.

Horror Bruno Fernandes stat revealed as Man Utd fans fume at captain’s role in Nottingham Forest winning goal

MANCHESTER UNITED fans are fuming with Bruno Fernandes following his performance against Nottingham Forest. The Red Devils captain was not at his best as United lost 2-1 at the City Ground – their ninth loss of the Premier League campaign.

Fans criticised the Manchester United captain’s performance against Nottingham ForestCredit: Rex
Fernandes, 29, lost possession 28 times during the match – at least eight more times than any other player on the pitch.
And some fans also felt he was at fault for Forest’s late winner, which was expertly finished by Morgan Gibbs-White.
United were pushing for a winner after Marcus Rashford cancelled out Nicolas Dominguez’s opener, and Rasmus Hojlund had an effort which was well saved by goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Amad Diallo followed up and played a square box to Fernandes inside the box but the Red Devils skipper bizarrely decided to step over the ball instead of taking a touch.

Forest midfielder Ryan Yates picked up the ball and sprinted through the centre of the pitch unchallenged, before finding former United star Anthony Elanga.
He teed up Gibbs-White who whipped the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box, giving Nuno Espirito Santo’s side back-to-back wins.
United supporters slammed Fernandes for his role in the goal and his overall performance.
One said: “The Forest winner comes from a ludicrous decision by Fernandes to step over the ball in the box with no-one behind him when a shot, touch (& probably winning a pen) or playing it back to Diallo were 3 far better options.

Premier League rivals set to battle each other to lure ex-Man Utd coach Kieran McKenna from promotion-chasing Ipswich

KIERAN McKENNA may be in the middle of a managerial tug-of-war, with Brighton and Crystal Palace lining him up.The Ipswich boss, 37, is trying to make the Prem with the Tractor Boys but may get a ticket to the top on his own in the coming months.

McKenna has impressed as a No 1 after his success in a coaching role at Manchester United.
Seagulls have him on an emergency list if Roberto De Zerbi is tempted away, and are known for spotting hot managerial prospects.
McKenna’s attacking style would suit Albion, who know their highly-rated Italian gaffer is admired by bigger clubs at home and abroad.
Palace are also keen on McKenna as they seek a long-term successor for Roy Hodgson, 76.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
Their ideal timetable would be to make a summer swoop. The Eagles are still behind Hodgson and it would be difficult to recruit McKenna now when he is in a promotion race.
Palace have also been linked with free agent Steve Cooper, 44, but McKenna would come without a sacking on his CV.
Cooper has been on the Eagles’ radar for a while but there is not universal support for the ex-Nottingham Forest coach and Palace are still looking around for the best option at the end of the season.
Ipswich have a compensation clause in McKenna’s deal of about £4million, which would not put off either of the Premier League pair if they come for him.

Man Utd ratings: Antony stakes case as worst-ever signing but Garnacho gives absolutely everything against Forest

MANCHESTER UNITED endured another dismal day at the office as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest. It was another lacklustre display from the Red Devils, who have now suffered nine Premier League defeats this season.

It was another display from AntonyCredit: AP
Nicolas Dominguez opened the scoring in the 64th minute after finding an acre space on the edge of the box.
United thought they had salvaged something when Alejandro Garnacho capitalised on a huge error from Matt Turner before squaring the ball to Marcus Rashford, who fired it into the bottom-right corner.
However, Forest – led by new boss Nuno Espirito Santo – bounced straight back through Morgan Gibbs-White to clinch all three points.
On yet another day to forget for the Red Devils, here’s how SunSport rated the performance…
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
    ANDRE ONANA – 5
No chance for Dominguez’s opening goal although maybe should have done better for Gibbs-White’s winner. Has improved recently but Onana still remains a huge concern.
He continues to have communication issues and is either not helping his back four with the calls or is simply not shouting loud enough for them to hear.
    AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 5
Was clearly under instructions to push forwards but the problem was that he kept leaving a huge hole at right-back.
He was then extremely sluggish in getting back into his position which did not help, either. Had the first shot on target although it was not much of one.

    RAPHAEL VARANE – 5
Got lucky when he stuck out a leg to block Elanga’s cross and it flashed across the face of the goal when it could easily have been an own goal. At times, he could have put his body on the line.
Raphael Varane almost scored an own goalCredit: AFP
    JONNY EVANS – 5
Jeered by the home fans due to the fact he has previously played for Leicester. Although due to United’s lack of quality, must feel as though he is still playing for Leicester.
He will be disappointed with both goals but along with Varane, will feel that he was not being protected by the midfield.
    DIOGO DALOT – 5
Should have done much better to deal with Elanga who found Gibbs-White to score for 2-1. Earlier, he hammered a decent shot against the post.
    KOBBIE MAINOO – 6
The teenager did well enough in his defensive midfield role and stopped a few home attacks so it was a surprise when he was replaced at the break.
There were plenty of others that could not have complained had they been taken off instead.
The Red Devils failed to make the most of their chances
    CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN – 5
For a player of his class, needs to be having far more of an impact in these type of matches but was a passenger for long spells.
At 1-1, he forced a decent save from Turner although Forest then went down the other end and scored.
    ANTONY – 0
Another hopeless, embarrassing performance from the £85million United winger who merely enhanced his reputation as one of the worst buys in the club’s entire history.
Maybe even THE worst signing. Did absolutely nothing before being replaced shortly into the second half.
Antony failed to inspire againCredit: Getty
    BRUNO FERNANDES – 5
In tough matches like this, you need a captain to lead by example.
This is why it was a truly terrible decision by Erik ten Hag to make Fernandes his captain and United need to take the skipper’s armband off him. Had a deflected shot in injury time which was well saved by Turner. 5
    ALEJANDRO GARNACHO – 6
Cut out the terrible pass out from Forest keeper Turner and then squared for Rashford to level.
A decent battle with Forest right-back Gonzalo Montiel. Gave absolutely everything, unlike some of his colleagues.
    MARCUS RASHFORD – 6
Did very little until he came up with the equaliser and it was a decent finish. Playing up front due to Rasmus Hojlund missing the game due to an illness.
Yet whoever United had played as the central striker, they would have struggled because the service was so dire.
Marcus Rashford equalised in the second halfCredit: Getty
    SUBS
Scott McTominay (for Mainoo 46 mins) – 5
Got lucky when his clearance rebounded against Elanga and back towards the goal.
    Read more on The Sun
Amad Diallo (for Antony 54 mins) – 4
    Did nothing.
    Sergio Reguilon (for Wan-Bissaka 90 mins) – 3

Man Utd fans fume ‘we are a joke’ after club activate contract extension of star who looked destined to leave

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly activated the option to extend Victor Lindelof’s contract. The defender’s current deal was due to expire at the end of the season.

But according to The Athletic, he is now set to stay at Old Trafford until June 2025.
Man Utd have triggered the option to extend his contract by another 12 months amid growing uncertainty surrounding his future.
Lindelof had been expected to leave the club either in January or on a free transfer in the summer.
He allegedly turned down interest from Inter Milan and Ligue 1 side Rennes in August, instead deciding to stay and fight for his place in Erik ten Hag’s squad.

But some fans are now frustrated at United’s decision to keep him beyond this season.
One person tweeted: “We are a joke! He’s not good enough we need better quality players!”
Another agreed, adding: “This is why we will remain in mediocrity, keep extending contracts of players that aren’t anywhere near good enough.”
A third commented: “Would have liked to see him go tbh he’s not United standard.”

While a fourth wrote: “If this is a decision by INEOS then it looks like business as usual. We need to be more ruthless with unwanted players. Lindelof is not the future and his wages can easily be freed up for other players. I doubt we find a buyer that makes sense in the summer.”
Lindelof joined Man Utd in a £31million transfer from Benfica in 2017 and has since made 249 appearances.
The Red Devils currently sit seventh in the Premier League table with 31 points from 19 games. More
