It’s understood the alleged incident happened in the Bob Shankly Stand where yobs sparked fury with a ‘wall-of-fire’ display.
Referee Kevin Clancy was forced to halt play for 18 minutes as smoke engulfed the away end during Gers’ 5-0 win over Dundee.
And cops have now confirmed a probe has been launched into a claims of an alleged sexual assault on a child.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are carrying out enquiries following an allegation of sexual assault involving a 13-year-old girl which happened at Dens Park in Dundee on Wednesday.”

A spokesman for the Dens Park club added: “Dundee FC can confirm we are aware of an incident which took place in the Bob Shankly stand during Wednesday’s match against Rangers.
“The club are fully supporting the police investigation and the club’s child welfare and protection officer is supporting the situation.
“As this is an ongoing police investigation the club will be making no further comment.”
We told how SPFL chiefs blasted the Rangers pyro louts – as cops warned it’s a matter of time before a fan is seriously hurt.

The chaotic scenes triggered fire alarms and ramped up worries the stand could catch fire as around 70 flares were ignited by a travelling support.
Later this month the Scottish Government, Police Scotland and the Football Safety Officers’ Association will meet to discuss the increasing prevalence of flares.
Yesterday at a press conference, Rangers boss Philippe Clement said: “The pyro we don’t need. It doesn’t give something extra. It is dangerous.”
In a statement issued after Wednesday’s clash, an SPFL spokesman said the growing use of pyros was “concerning and unwelcome”.
Police Scotland Superintendent Iain Wales added: “Taking pyrotechnics into a football stadium is not only an offence, it is extremely dangerous.”
A Dundee spokesperson branded the scenes “unacceptable” and added: “Despite robust practice by all clubs in the SPFL and the SFA at Hampden, flares, offensive banners and singing of sectarian songs continue to be a problem all across our game in Scottish football.
“As we are working with the authorities we are unable to comment on the situation at this time.
“The club will comment further once the ongoing investigation has taken place and concluded.”

Rangers v Celtic Women’s clash ‘headbutt’ being investigated by police

POLICE have opened an investigation into the trouble which flared at the end of last night’s Rangers Women vs Celtic Women clash. Footage appeared to show Hoops head coach Fran Alonso being headbutted by a Rangers assistant coach Craig McPherson at the end of the match, which ended 1-1.
The footage showed the incident at the end of the match
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We have received a report regarding an incident at Broadwood Stadium on the evening of Monday, 27 March, 2023.
“Enquiries to establish any criminality are at an early stage.”
Throwing the behaviour of the travelling Celtic fans who showered ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard with missiles as he scored for Liverpool Legends against Celtic Legends in a charity match into the mix, former Rangers boss said it “hasn’t been the greatest couple of days for Rangers and Celtic”.
McCoist, of course, is no stranger to being at the sharp end of these Old Firm controversies, with his bust-up with Neil Lennon at the end of an Old Firm clash leading to a government summit.

Asked by co-host TalkSPORT co-host Laura Woods if McPherson’s behaviour was acceptable, he said: “I have only just seen it. It’s really, really poor.
“With the greatest of respect, it’s not been a great two or three days for Rangers and Celtic, with what happened at the weekend and what happened last night.”
It looked like Rangers were taking the three points from the fixture after Brogan Hay fired her side ahead in the first half.
But Celtic star Caitlyn Hayes scored a dramatic equaliser in the NINTH minute of stoppage time to level the scoring and to secure a point for the Hoops.

Moment Rangers fans attack pub after cup final before being chased off by ‘Celtic maws’

THIS is the moment a mob of Rangers fans attacked a pub before being chased off by a group of “Celtic maws”.The CCTV camera footage shows the group, mostly dressed in all black with hoods and balaclavas on, charging at the Glasgow boozer.

It also shows people throwing traffic cones and pyrotechnics at the PJ Neeson pub on Allison Street in the city’s Govanhill around 5:15pm on Sunday.
We previously told how lit flares were thrown into the boozer and a man’s shirt caught fire after Sunday’s Old Firm League Cup final where Celtic beat Rangers 2-1.
But the newly-emerged security footage shows how a group of women rushed from the under-attack pub to challenge the footie yobs.
One woman – holding what appears to be a pool cue – ran out to confront one of the masked hooligans.

She was filmed kicking at him in the middle of the road as others rushed to get between the pair.
Other women ran from the pub and into the road to fend off the yobs and pulled the first woman back to the pavement.
The footage went viral after being shared on social media, gathering over 3,000 likes.
And the women who ran out to confront the hooligans have been branded “Celtic maws” by social media users.

Fans were quick to react to the clip, with one playing a pun on a classic song by The Clash, joking: “I fought the maws and the maws won.”
Police were called to the area after the trouble flared up following the final.
But officers confirmed that the crowds were dispersed and no arrests were made.
P.J Neeson previously declined to comment when approached by the Scottish Sun.
It comes as four people were arrested after the match as cops probe an alleged pre-match ‘hooligan brawl’.
Police confirmed they nicked four people for disorder-related offences in response to a number of alleged incidents.
It followed a street battle between hooligans from both sides hours before the final.
The fans were seen in Glasgow’s southside after swarming towards each other at the west and north sides of the ground before breakfast time.
It’s believed cops will crack down hard on the two groups of ‘ultras’ and will use social media videos to help find those involved.
But the brawl has led to a top cup saying footie ultras should be BANNED from getting early access to stadiums to lay out banners.

Young Celtic fan, 9, left burned by flare during Green Brigade tifo display at Real Madrid clash

A NINE-YEAR-OLD Celtic fan was burned after he was hit by a flare chucked during Tuesday’s Champions League match. The lad was left screaming in agony after he was hit by the pyro thrown by a brainless thug before the Parkhead’s side’s match against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

He was rushed to the stadium’s on-site medical room for emergency treatment and was believed to have been taken to hospital.
The accident happened after the controversial Green Brigade ultras group held a pyrotechnic display – despite pleas by the club not to.
Celtic have twice shut down the area populated by the group over fans’ behaviour and will now face calls to do so again.
An onlooker said: “This wasn’t an accident waiting to happen – it’s been predicted for years.
“Fans are repeatedly told not to set these things off but they aren’t listening and now a youngster, one of their own, has possibly been maimed for life.”
“Fans are told not to set these things off but they aren’t listening – and now a youngster has been maimed because of them.”
It’s not known whether the boy, who has not been named, was sitting within the corner section housing the Green Brigade or was housed nearby.
The massive co-ordinated display that was spread over the top and bottom tiers and the strobe flares were all set off at the same time – as both teams entered the stadium.

Shortly afterwards, the child was taken to medics and was later taken to hospital.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8pm on Tuesday, police were advised that a young child had been injured after being struck by a pyrotechnic flare within Celtic Park.
“The child was attended to by medical staff at Celtic Park and then due to attend a local hospital for further treatment.
“Enquiries into the incident are continuing.”
A spokeswoman for Glasgow City Council said: “We will raise this matter within the Stadium Advisory Group for Celtic Park and determine an appropriate course of action.”
On Monday, the Celtic Supporters Liaison Officer begged fans not to bring flares into the ground amid fears of further fines from governing body UEFA.
The message read: ‘Wee reminder the use of pyrotechnics including smoke bombs is prohibited within the Stadium.
‘The use of these devices in UEFA games is likely to result in the Club receiving a sanction and fans are asked to please refrain from using these whilst inside Celtic Park, thank you.’
Celtic shut down the Green Brigade standing section in February after a similar flare display before a 3-0 win over Rangers.
After police and Glasgow City Council officials raised serious safety concerns, the club responded by closing the rail seating section for the Scottish Cup tie against Raith Rovers.
In a letter to fans affected, they said: “As a result of safety issues arising at our last home match, including widespread use of pyrotechnics, it has been deemed necessary to review the matchday operations in the front part of the rail seating section.
“Consequently, this section will be closed versus Raith Rovers while the club reviews these issues.”
In 2019, the section was closed after fans set off flares before a Europa League match against Cluj.
They were also fined £13,500 after travelling fans set off fireworks during a win over Lazio in Italy and an £11,000 fine for throwing objects and using flares in a play-off win over AIK Stockholm the same year.
At the time, former chief executive Peter Lawwell said: “Unfortunately, there is a small minority who are a challenge in terms of safety in the stadium and protecting the reputation of our magnificent club.
“The concerning thing for us is that they don’t seem to believe they are doing anything wrong.”
Celtic were approached for comment by The Scottish Sun.
