I feared my kids would grow up without their dad as robber pointed gun at me, reveals Amir Khan

Masked gunman Dante Campbell jumped out of a silver Mercedes, pointed the weapon in Amir’s face and shouted: ‘Take off the watch!’
Wife Faryal, who was with him, said: “I thought we were both going to die.”
Victim Amir Khan revealed how he turned his head in terror during his gunpoint ordeal so he would not see the bullet coming.
The boxer had left a restaurant with wife Faryal when a gang pulled up in a Merc, pointed the weapon in his face and demanded his watch.
Amir’s light-welterweight reflexes kicked in as he feared the gunman would pull the trigger.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun on Sunday, he revealed: “In that moment, you think the worst . . . that the kids could be growing up without their dad, that Faryal would be raising them on her own.
“Your life flashes before your eyes. I leant my head to the right because I thought, if he is going to shoot me, he can shoot the side of my head. I don’t want to see the bullet coming.”
Amir handed over a £72,000 diamond-encrusted watch he’d bought to celebrate winning a fight.
Terrified Faryal, 31, ran into the road and screamed for help.

The robbers fled in their car and the timepiece has not been found.
Faryal yesterday said she feared the couple were the target of an organised hit, saying: “I thought we were going to die on the spot.”
The couple now feel the “England we love isn’t a safe place any more” so spend more time at their home in Dubai.
Two men admitted involvement in the robbery, on April 18 last year.
On Friday two others were found not guilty of acting as spotters.
Amir and Faryal had been for dinner with pal Omar Khalid at the Sahara Grill in Leyton, East London.
The boxer posed for selfies with fans and CCTV showed him leaving at 9.10pm.
As the couple walked to their car, masked gunman Dante Campbell, 20, jumped out of a silver Mercedes coupe, pointed the weapon in Amir’s face and shouted: “Take off the watch!”
Amir, who is dad to Lamaisah, eight, Alayna, four, and Muhammad Zaviyar, three, recalled yesterday: “It was the first time I’ve ever seen a gun in my life. I could see down the barrel.
“I remember looking back seeing where my wife was. She ran back on the road and screamed ‘help!’
“At the time, I didn’t know what he wanted. I thought maybe this is a prank. I just took off the watch, he grabbed it.”
Amir had earlier been shopping in Knightsbridge while Faryal was at a photoshoot.

They visited the restaurant during Ramadan as it serves halal steak, and spent around an hour eating and taking snaps with fans.
Recalling the ordeal, Amir said: “Faryal ran back on to the road and I just froze.
“Normally she walks in front of me so I know she’s safe.
“But for some reason she didn’t that night — which looking back is a good thing.
“The gunman told me to take off the watch so I did and he grabbed it. I was shaken up.
“It happened so fast, it registered with me a day after. It makes you think, life is very short.
“People said after, ‘You should’ve fought them’. Are they stupid? I’ve got a family. It’s only a watch. My life means more to me.
“When you have kids, you have a priority to make sure they are looked after. I am the breadwinner for the family. If I was with the kids, I don’t know what I would’ve done. Maybe I would have panicked and tried to run.”
Amir added: “Someone called the police. It caused a big scene and people recognised me.
“I felt quite embarrassed it had happened to me, that I’d just been robbed at gunpoint.
“I got into Omar’s car and we drove around the corner because I didn’t want to be around the area.
“I did a 30-minute interview in the police car. I told them what happened, how it happened.”
Amir and Faryal then returned to their room at the May Fair Hotel in central London, where she was in floods of tears.
The boxer added: “I could feel how scared Faryal was. I sat with her and told her it’s fine, the watch is materialistic.
“She said, ‘What if the kids were with us? What if they shot you and killed you? The kids love you so much, you’re a good father to them, they would miss you so much’.

“I had the worst sleep that night. It was like the sleep I have the day before a fight. I was very uneasy.”
Yesterday Amir was revealed to be a star of next month’s I’m A Celebrity South African special — after a stint on the show in 2017.
He retired from boxing last year having won 34 of 40 fights, 21 by knockout, and with a silver medal for Great Britain at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
He is now based in Dubai but returns to England once a month for a week for charity and TV work.
Since the attack he pays £600 a day on security in the UK.
Bolton-born Amir said: “The UK isn’t a safe place any more.
“It’s like living in Mexico. I don’t feel comfortable. I love England. I won a medal for the country but I stay in Dubai now because it’s the only place I feel safe. I’ve had my career, won my fights, got money. I just want to be safe.”
Amir also blasted London’s Labour mayor Sadiq Khan, saying: “Since he has been in power, London has got so dangerous. He needs to pull his finger out and do something about it.”
Speaking about the impact of the robbery, he added: “Faryal always says ‘Don’t go out on your own’.
“She’s always on my back saying, ‘Make sure you take your security with you’.
“A couple of months after the robbery, I remember walking outside Harrods.
“It was about 5pm or 6pm, and I had a bag with a T-shirt in. I thought, ‘Oh s**t, it’s not safe for me to walk’.
“A guy asked me for a picture, and I’m always happy to do that, but I felt very uneasy.”
Amir had bought the stolen watch — a Franck Muller Vanguard Chronograph — after his December 2014 victory over American welterweight Devon Alexander in Las Vegas.
Amir said: “I always buy a watch after a fight. It was quite sentimental. I got it after I won to treat myself.”

Recalling the ordeal, Amir said: ‘Faryal ran back on to the road and I just froze’
Two weeks before the robbery he stopped paying £15,000 a year insurance for around £600,000 worth of watches.
He had been paying the premium for ten years but felt safe having never been targeted before.
Faryal, who married Amir in 2013, said of the ordeal: “I saw a really tall guy like hugging Amir.
“Amir seemed to be laughing, I think he thought it was a fan.
“Suddenly I saw a gun . . . I was on the phone to my best friend and just started screaming ‘help, help, help!’
“I ran into the road as I thought I’d rather get hit by a car than shot. At the time, I thought someone had set us up. That they’ve come to shoot me and Amir. I thought, ‘Does Amir have any enemies?’
“I was worried that while I’m running someone is going to shoot me from the back. It was really, really scary.”
Faryal added: “I would lie awake at night thinking, ‘What if we both got killed?’ It took me a good few months to get over it.
“After the incident, we sorted out our wills and a trust for the kids. It was a big wake-up call.”
She said it brought her and Amir closer.
She said: “It hit me that I could’ve lost Amir.
“It makes you appreciate each other a lot more.

    Cops hunt suspects
POLICE sought help to find suspect Hamza Kulane who they want to quiz over the raid.
Alleged spotters Nurul Amin, 25, and Ismail Mohamed, 24, were cleared of conspiracy to rob on Friday after a two-week trial.
Gunman Dante Campbell, 20, and crony Ahmed Bana, 25, have admitted conspiracy to rob and possessing an imitation firearm.
    They will be sentenced later.
Jurors were shown CCTV film of Amir’s ordeal.
He told Snaresbrook crown court: “I’m a sportsman, a fighter. I’ve been in the toughest situations but this is something different. This is really scary.” More

Morgan Gibbs-White reveals he is the godfather to Phil Foden’s kids – now he wants to emulate mate and play for England

MORGAN GIBBS-WHITE revealed he is the godfather to Phil Foden’s children – and now he wants to emulate his great mate by becoming a senior England international.Nottingham Forest star Gibbs-White first met Foden aged 16 and the pair won the Under-17 World Cup with England in 2017.

They would often room together and are still extremely close today, to the point where the Manchester City man asked Gibbs-White to be a godparent to his son and daughter.
Foden, 22, has racked up 22 caps for England, the latest of which came in Thursday’s 2-1 Euro qualifying win over Italy.
Gibbs-White, 23, was this week named England Under-21 captain but is yet to receive a senior call-up – though Gareth Southgate says he is keeping close tabs on the midfielder.
The Forest ace said: “It’s an honour I’ve even been mentioned and it shows I’m improving on the right path. I have to strive for more.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
“I’m still in touch with Phil, still really close. I’m godparent to his kids.  It just shows that anything is possible. I was in that Under-17 World Cup team so if those guys can do it, so can I.”
Jadon Sancho, Marc Guehi, Conor Gallagher, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Emile Smith Rowe were the other whizkids from that World Cup-winning Under-17 squad to go on to play for the senior team.
Foden is undoubtedly the pick of the bunch though and a character with whom Gibbs-White clicked instantly.
MGW explained: “We just had a good connection. I met him at 16, we just got on.
    Most read in Football
“We roomed together quite a bit. He’s always been a nice kid, Phil.
“He’s an unbelievable player. He’d play Fortnite until one or two o’clock in the morning every night! Every night.
“I’d tell him that if he scored the next day then he could stay on it for another couple of hours!”
Foden’s missus Rebecca Cooke is also very close to Gibbs-White’s girlfriend, Britney De Villiers.
The christening is still yet to take place though because of the hectic football schedule.
Steve Cooper was the manager in charge of that amazing England Under-17 side that triumphed in India.
And it was the Welshman, now at helm at Forest, who signed Gibbs-White for a whopping £42.5million from Wolves in the summer.
Back then, the fee was all anyone would talk about when discussing Gibbs-White.
But it is testament to his fine season, in which he has scored three goals and grabbed six assists in the Premier League, that his hefty price tag is less of a debating point now.
Yet the playmaker never felt any pressure at all by how much Forest shelled out on him – and certainly nothing compared to the heat on the team as they battle for survival.
He said: “It wasn’t me who paid the price! I enjoyed it. It meant more eyes were on me.
“I could show myself more. It wasn’t a pressure thing.
“The focus was on the price tag and I had to prove people wrong in a sense. You thrive off that situation. You want to prove people wrong and impress.
“(The battle to stay up) – that is pressure. There are so many good teams down there.”
Forest are winless in their last six league games, losing four of them, and are just two points above the relegation zone.
But there is no doubt in Gibbs-White mind that the Tricky Trees will retain the top-flight status they took 23 years to earn by avoiding the drop.
He said: “One hundred per cent I’m confident we’ll stay up. We’ve proven that in games. We drew 1-1 with Man City. We need to be more consistent.”
On Saturday though, Gibbs-White turns his attention to captaining his country for the first time ever.
Despite representing England at nearly every level from Under-16s, the Stafford lad has never actually worn the armband for his nation.
But that will change on Saturday afternoon when he leads the England Under-21s out for their friendly against France at Leicester’s King Power Stadium.
He commented: “It was a surprise to be given it. It’ll be the first time I’ve captained an England side.
“It’s an honour to receive a call-up and when Lee Carsley told me that I was captain it was a really special feeling. It shows I’ve been doing well at club level and he sees me as a leader in the group. I think I’m the oldest one here so that is why!”
Southgate’s recent comments suggest it will not be long until Gibbs-White does make that senior step.
It would be a reward, just as captaining his country will be, for putting everything he’s got into his career and holding nothing back.
That mentality is reflected by the words he had tattoed on his right hand last summer which read: “Why save the food stuff for later?”
    Read More on The Sun
Gibbs-White added: “It is just, ‘why say no? Why not do the good stuff now and regret it later?’ I never wanted to regret anything in the future.”
Good advice to pass onto his godchildren, no doubt – and to help keep Forest up. More

Georgina Rodriguez reveals amazing reaction to seeing Cristiano Ronaldo for first time as £10-an-hour shop worker

GEORGINA RODRIGUEZ has revealed she thought Cristiano Ronaldo was so handsome the first time she met him as a £10-an-hour clothes shop worker, she had trouble looking him in the eyes. The 29-year-old model and influencer admitted it was “love at first sight” when he walked into the Gucci store in Madrid where she was employed at the time.
Georgina Rodriguez has revealed her first reaction to meeting Cristiano RonaldoCredit: AP
And in her first TV interview ever last night she said: “He’s such a handsome man. When I saw him he was so handsome I felt embarrassed to look at him.”
She also revealed for the first time the 2016 encounter that changed her life was a chance meeting because she was supposed to have left the shop at 5pm and had only stayed on to help a female client that a male colleague normally attended to because he was on holiday.
Georgina, who now has two children with the footballer but treats his three kids as if they were her own, said: “I was finally able to leave the shop to go home three hours later than I should have and as I was getting ready to leave Cristiano came in with his eldest son and some friends. Let’s just say it was butterflies in my stomach.”
The Argentinian-born Spaniard, who admitted to being nervous at the start of her interview on popular night-time Spanish show El Hormiguero but relaxed as the programme went on, also showed off two of her three tattoos and promised to reveal the third in the second series of her new Netflix show out on Friday.

One of the inkings she let the cameras do a close-up of was a picture of an angel, dedicated to her twin called Angel who died last April.
Speaking of the other, consisting of the initials ‘C’ and ‘G’ with a heart between them, Georgina told the show host and members of the studio audience who included her sister Ivana and friends: “The moment I had this tattoo done is on my reality show.
“It was my first trip to Paris with Cristiano. We were in the hotel room and on the bedside tables they leave notepads with a pencil. I went to lie down and I saw CG on the notepad and ended up taking it and still have it to this day.
“I always wanted to have a tattoo done with it and we were on holiday with friends in Sardinia and I said I wanted a tattoo, well a tattoo that ended up being three, and I had this one done.”

She went on to gush: “Cristiano is marvellous. He’s a wonderful father, a wonderful son, brother, friend and partner, boss and employee because he’s an employee as well. He’s fantastic in every sense of the word.
“Sometimes we’re at home eating and I look at him and think ‘How lucky I feel to be the one he’s chosen to create this wonderful family’ and I go to bed really happy.”
Georgina raised eyebrows at the start of the interview, when she admittedly appeared very nervous, by confessing: “I love my children all day, but not those of others.”
And she caused another stir when she added after explaining both she and Cristiano come from working-class families and try to ensure their children know they are very lucky to have the privileged life they lead: “I tell them they shouldn’t leave their food and if they don’t eat it it’s for their afternoon snack later.
“At times I put them on videos of children who don’t have food and tell them that’s what could happen to them.”
Georgina also let slip that she had been offered work on the big screen but had turned down the chance because of a “lack of time.”
The star, who now has more than 47 million fans on Instagram, said: “I have been offered the chance to do films. Because of a lack of time I haven’t been able to accept any of the roles.
“I know I would do it well. I have done classical dance which has involved interpreting roles since I was a child.”
Insisting money had only changed her “for the better” because it meant she could help her family and friends much more than before which was “very gratifying”, she went on to speak glowingly of Saudi Arabia.

Cristiano left Man United by mutual consent last November following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which he accused the club of betraying him and admitted he didn’t respect manager Erik ten Tag.
His £173 million-a-year move to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr after the World Cup made him the highest-paid sportsman ever.
Despite the country’s poor human rights record Georgina made it clear she loves where she now lives and thinks women are well treated there.
Asked how she was adapting to life in Riadh, where she and her family first lived in a skyscraper hotel before moving to their first proper Middle Eastern home, she said: “It’s a marvellous country.
“I have to admit I went there very conditioned by what people say about it and what you hear but it’s a very safe country, a real family place and they really look after women and their children. People are very generous and really thoughtful.
“A girlfriend of mine came to visit and was in a hotel and they hadn’t left her any water. As it was very expensive she went to a call centre but her card wasn’t working and she didn’t have any local currency.
“A man ended up inviting her to a bottle of water. The people are very kind and very thoughtful.”
Georgina wasn’t asked about the three miscarriages she is set to reveal she suffered in chapter one of the upcoming second series of her new Netflix show before the loss of her child nearly a year ago.
It emerged at the weekend she would make the heart-wrenching confession.

Briefly speaking about the loss of Angel at the end of the interview, she said: “There’s been a lot of darkness but a lot of love. Doing this second series has helped a lot because I had a female director who I really got on with and helped me massively.
“My friends have been by my side and Cristiano of course. I’ve had the good fortune to share this tragedy with those closest to me which has also helped.”

Losing baby Angel wasn’t our first tragedy – we had three miscarriages, reveals Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodriguez

IT’S almost a year since Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez welcomed their daughter Bella Esmeralda into the world in a very bittersweet way, with the tragic loss of Bella’s twin brother Angel. And Spanish influencer Georgina, 29, has now revealed she had suffered three miscarriages before.

She says: “Every time I went to the gynaecologist’s at night I had nightmares because I was worried about what position they would be in, what the delivery would be like, if it would be a Caesarean section.
“I was very afraid at each ultrasound. I felt very tense because I’d had three previous miscarriages and I came home in pieces.”
She describes her visits to the gynaecologist as “horrible, because I was always vomiting”.
Soon after Georgina gave birth in April 2022, she and Ronaldo, 38, announced Angel’s death as they paid tribute online.

“Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
Georgina makes her shock revelations in the new series of Netflix documentary I Am Georgina, which is set to premiere on Friday.
As well as Bella, she shares daughter Alana, three, with Ronaldo, while the former Manchester United star also has son Cristiano Jr, 12 — whose mother’s identity he has never revealed — and four-year-old twins Eva and Mateo, who he had with an American surrogate.
Georgina, who treats all of Ronaldo’s brood as her own, says she didn’t immediately tell her other children that Angel had not survived, instead saying he would be born a little later than his sister.
She says: “They were born on Easter Monday. The most-awaited moment arrives and your heart stops.
“Bella was born strong and healthy but a piece of my heart shattered.
“You ask yourself how you’re going to carry on. I wasn’t prepared to accept or recognise what had happened to me and I wasn’t ready to tell my children about it.
“As I still had a belly, I told them that Angel was still going to wait a bit to be born, until Cris told them that Angel was in Heaven. That was a dose of reality.”
Ronaldo has previously spoken of the challenging conversations he had to have with his other children when they returned home from hospital without Angel.
The smiling family with their new addition, their daughter Bella
Ronaldo holds the couple’s new baby Bella
He told Piers Morgan on TalkTV: “In the beginning Gio (Georgina) arrived home and the kids start to say, ‘Where’s the other baby?’
“I had a conversation with Cristiano (Junior) on the day, because he’s 12 years old, he knows, understands everything, and I had a nice conversation with him.
“We cried together in his bedroom and explained and he does understand, but in the same way he was a little bit confused.
“The other ones in the beginning, the kids start to say, ‘Mum, where is the other baby, blah blah blah’. And you know, she had a little bit of a belly because they had two, it’s a hard process.
“And after one week I say, ‘Let’s be up front and let’s be honest with the kids, let’s say that Angel, they go to Heaven’.”
Before Georgina returned home from hospital, her sister Ivana helped by removing the cot, Moses cradle and teddy bear that Georgina had prepared for Angel at the Cheshire home where the family were then living.
This year they moved to Saudi Arabia, after Ronaldo signed for Riyadh club Al-Nassr.
And after the turmoil of the last year Georgina has found that being a mum to Bella has provided some comfort.
She says: “She has managed to fill to some extent that hole that is present in my life.
“When she’s older and we tell her what happened, she will be very proud of what she has achieved.”
But she continues: “I will never be the same person again. Every time I look at Bella I ask myself, ‘Would Angel be like that?’
“The truth is I feel I am not ready to think about it, as if I still haven’t accepted it.
“I always say to my children, ‘Your little brother is in the sky, he doesn’t want to walk, he wants to fly. Every time you look at the sky, think of him’.”
There are other reminders of Angel for Georgina and Ronaldo.
In the documentary, Georgina is filmed getting a tattoo done, thought to be in memory of Angel, and Ronaldo has said he keeps his son’s ashes with him in the house, as well as those of his father José, who died of liver failure in 2005.
‘We are a nice couple and we help each other’
The couple met when Georgina was working as a £10-an-hour sales assistant at the Gucci shop in Madrid, and she has previously said it was “love at first sight”.
They were first seen together going on a string of dates towards the end of 2016.
In the new Netflix series Georgina, who now has 47 million followers on Instagram, thanks her partner for his “unconditional support and love” and helping her through one of the toughest periods of her life.
She adds: “Cris really encouraged me to continue with my agenda.
“He said, ‘Gio, get on with your life, it’ll do you good’.
“He has played a really important role. Gods put the right people in your path.”
Likewise, Ronaldo has spoken about the support that Georgina has given him.
He said: “She’s very mature for this age. We help each other sometimes when I’m a little bit down she pushes me up and I do it the other side.
“So we are a nice couple and we help each other, so I’m really pleased that she’s on my side.”
For now, it seems Georgina is trying to be as strong as she can for the sake of herself and her family.
She says: “Life’s hard, life goes on. I have reasons to move on and be strong. My priority right now is my family and my children. I’m so happy and thankful.”
Having taken on the mother role for all of Ronaldo’s children, Georgina says she feels “like a super mum, and Superwoman”.
But for now at least, it doesn’t sound as if they will be having any more kids.
Ronaldo, the all-time leading goal scorer in men’s football, has said that he and Georgina are content with their family set-up and plan to enjoy their time with their children while they are little.
He said: “I’m not thinking more kids now, I think we are done, but we never know the future, only God knows.
“But right now we all want to have a break to enjoy these ones because they are little. We want to enjoy a little bit of these ones. Let’s see in the future.”
However, marriage does sound like it is on the cards, as Ronaldo says it would be his mum Maria’s dream to see him and Georgina walk down the aisle.
“We’ll be (married) one day, for sure,” he said.
“It’s my mum’s dream as well, so one day. Why not? It’s great.”
And he said of Georgina: “She’s my friend. We have conversations. I open the heart for her and she opens the heart for me.

“I’m not thinking now about that but I can see in the future I think I deserve, she deserves.
“But it’s something that’s not coming now in my plans but in the future is yes, I want.”

F1 stars should not be treated like school kids and FIA need to rethink controversial new rules, says Lando Norris

LANDO NORRIS says F1 stars should not be made to feel like school kids as he calls on the FIA to rethink plans to punish drivers who make social and political comments.Norris has added his weight to a growing list of drivers and team bosses who want the FIA to overturn their controversial new rules.

F1’s governing body rewrote the rulebook to give them permission to impose penalties on drivers who make gestures without prior approval.
It has led drivers to claim the FIA are trying to control them and Norris wants them to rethink their barmy plan.
Speaking at the launch of this season’s car at McLaren’s HQ in Woking, he said: “It is very important that it is made clear that as drivers, we can still voice our opinions.
“F1 should go in the direction of limiting what we can do and say and influence the drivers because we’re only wanting to do things for the best.

“We’re doing it because we have millions of fans and viewers who we want to influence and guide or to help them personally.
“We should have freedom of speech. We should be able to say and do what we want. That’s what defines us as people is what makes us human.
If we find things being blocked off and we cannot talk, then nobody will want to do media [interviews] because we might as well be turned into a robot and just say the same things over and over again.
“We are only trying to help people in the world and give advice and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do that.”

Norris agreed with Williams’ Alex Albon that the threat needs looking at.
He added: “There’s been quite a bit of pressure and enough said to maybe make a U-turn.
“We should be able to say what we want and what we believe in. We are not in school and reaching up to ask about everything and say, ‘can we do this? Can we do that?’
“We are grown up enough to try and make smart decisions. I think there’s enough drivers who have said things now to push back a little bit.”

Norris is now going in for his fifth season in F1 and has another new teammate as Australian Oscar Piastri replaces countryman Daniel Ricciardo.
It means Norris will become the team’s leader, a position he is excited to be stepping into.
However, he knows he may not yet be in position to fight for regular wins as the team continues to develop.
He said: “I definitely have more responsibility simply because I’m the one with more experience, both in Formula One but also with McLaren as a team.
“I can use that a lot more than what Oscar would be able to and therefore my responsibility is to use that to our advantage.
“I have the understanding that we don’t have everything we need at this current time to win races or to compete against the best teams in the world.
“But if we can build a team over the last few years and do what we can this year to perform in every area, when we have those extra few things coming our way, then we can take that step with absolute performance.
“I’m probably not the most patient guy in life, but it’s something you need to learn to have when you get to Formula One.
“Until then, I’m just doing my job of trying to achieve everything I can one weekend at a time.”
McLaren boss Zak Brown was also cautious about the team’s chances this season as they have set the goal of being the fourth-quickest team behind Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari.

He said: “Lando signed up for the long term because he knows the journey we’re on and this feels like family to him.
“So long as we continue to progress, but we’re all we’re all impatient and there with him in our desire but we have to recognise it’s going to take a little bit more time.” More
