Man Utd fans demand new signings after Glazers celebrate Super Bowl victory with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

MANCHESTER UNITED supporters flooded social media and demanded new signings after Sunday night’s Super Bowl.
Red Devils fans watched their team owners, the Glazer family, hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy aloft after Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ win.

The Buccaneers dominated the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 to win the Super Bowl in their home Raymond James Stadium.
Their title run was sparked by signing Tom Brady last summer and an incredible defensive performance on Sunday.
And the irony of Tampa Bay’s strong defence was not lost on Man Utd fans.
A tweet read: “The Buccaneers defence was fairly tidy, a CB loan deal until the end of the season for Man Utd. Glazer fam you listening? We can really use a CB.”

⚽ Read our Man United live blog for the latest news from Old Trafford
Another said: “At least one of the Glazers teams knows how to defend.”
A hopeful post read: “Glazers’ team won, maybe this means they’ll finally invest in Man Utd.”
One social media user wrote: “Hey Glazers Family,Man Utd needs some cash for signings. They deserve it too.”

And another post said: “Hey look it’s the Glazer family. All Man Utd fans are very happy seeing this…not.”

US moguls the Glazer family brought Manchester United in 2005, but have proved unpopular with fans.
Supporters protested their ownership and the amount of debt the club was forced to take on.
But they won the Super Bowl for the second time with Tampa Bay Buccaneers – who they brought in 1995 – with their first success back in 2003.
Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes and the Buccaneers defence stifled Patrick Mahomes and Co.

Man Utd’s biggest transfers ever, both in and out, including Ronaldo
Joel Glazer, 50, lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy on the field in Tampa and made a rare speech.
He said: “I’ve got to start by saluting all the healthcare workers here -they’re the real champions.
“My father had an expression. If you want to know the road ahead then ask the person who’s been there.
“We found that person. Ten Super Bowl appearances, seven wins. Tom Brady.”

Brady, 43, was named Super Bowl MVP for a fifth time on his way to a seventh victory in the NFL’s showpiece season finale.
He said: “I’m so proud of all these guys. Everything we dealt with all year. We came together at the right time.
“We knew this was going to happen tonight. We ended up playing our best game of the year.”

Leeds agree £65m deal with San Francisco 49ers to increase shareholding in bid to become the new Leicester

LEEDS UNITED have agreed a £65million deal with the San Francisco 49ers to increase their shareholding in the Premier League club.
The NFL franchise upped their stake from 15 per cent to around 37 per cent after months of negotiations, Leeds confirmed on Monday morning.

It is likely to lead to a major cash injection to turn Leeds into title contenders.
Paraag Marathe, the 49ers executive who has held a seat on the Leeds United board since San Francisco’s initial investment in 2018, will become vice chairman of the Yorkshire club.
Andrea Radrizzani, the Italian entrepreneur, will remain at the helm.
Marathe said: “I’ve been doing deals my whole career.

“And it’s always easier to have a meeting of the minds when the minds are actually physically next to each other, so that, first and foremost, made it very complicated.”
Radrizzani added: “If we are able to stay in the Premier League, after two or three years I think this club could step up to be in the group of three or four clubs next to the big ones.
“Our model, I think, is Leicester City. We have shared this a lot internally. If there’s a club I admire for what has been done in terms of football management, it’s Leicester.”
The new investment will give boss Marcelo Bielsa, 65, more financial clout in the transfer market.

FANCY A PUNT? TODAY’S BEST ODDS BOOSTS FROM THE UK’S LEADING BOOKIES

It will also aid his club’s plans to build a new state-of-the-art training ground and move out of their current Thorpe Arche centre which is leased.
Bielsa took Leeds back into the Prem last season on a shoestring budget.
Although he brought in attacker Rodrigo for £26m last summer he has still been restricted in his spending.
As Bielsa prepares for Tuesday’s visit to Newcastle on the back of three successive defeats – including FA Cup humiliation to Crawley – he can look forward to a major financial boost.
The Argentine signed a new one year contract at the start of the season and could leave next summer.
But the growing influence of the super-rich 49ers will show him that it would be worth sticking around – providing he stops his side’s current downward spiral and keeps the club in the top flight.

The 49ers paid £11m for a 15 per cent stake in the club in 2018 and already have execs on the board.
Marathe added: “The sky’s the limit for Leeds. This is not a club where we made it to the Premier League and we are barely trying to hang on by the laces of our shoes.
“This is a club that has every opportunity to become one of the big contenders year in, year out in the Premier League.
“They have the fanhood, they have the stadium for it, they have the geography as a one club city.
“All the ingredients are there. We just have to deliver.”

From cardboard fans and skateboarding cholitas to mourning Kobe and Maradona.. the most memorable sport pictures of 2020

A PICTURE is worth a thousand words… but no one image could even come close to telling the full story of 2020.
As the world was plunged into the biggest health and economic crisis of a generation, sport took it upon itself to reintroduce some form of normality.

With spectators penned into their homes, iconic venues became vast, empty caverns where each star’s rallies and cries were heard like never before.
Champions were still crowned but not all were of the traditional sort, with eSports heroes carrying the mantle like never before to satisfy the most basic fans’ urge – of having something to watch.
But while kings and queens found their own way to mark their inevitable rise, legends were lost in the most heart-wrenching of ways.
Here, SunSport takes you through our photos of the year.

Cristiano Ronaldo naps five times a day and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s snoozes for four… how much sports stars sleep

BEING one of the most well known sporting icons on the planet is tiring work.
But rather than sleep all night, Cristiano Ronaldo instead takes FIVE naps a day while Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson snoozes for just four hours to keep himself going.

    Cristiano Ronaldo takes FIVE naps-a-day

Earlier this month, it emerged Juventus superstar Ronaldo, 35, grabs 40 winks five times each day and sleeps in the foetal position.
And here SunSport can reveal the different sleep patterns of several other sporting icons from across the globe and how many hours of ‘Zzz’ time they get, according to Online Mattress Review.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson – 4 hours

The WWE icon turned movie star hits the sack for just four hours-a-night.
At 48, Hawaiian born Johnson clocks off between midnight and is up and about again at 4am.

Presumably to work out at least 25 times a day to maintain his impressive physique.
    Muhammad Ali – 6.5 hours

Muhammad Ali was a religious man and slept for 6.5 hours after dinner and prayers

The greatest boxer of all time put many opponents to sleep in his time and would wind down between 10pm and 4:30am.
As a devout Muslim, much of his time would be split between prayer and training.
And his evening routine would include a walk after dinner, a quick wash, prayers and short stint in front of the TV before he dozed off.

    Serena Williams – 7 hours

Serena Williams clocks up a solid seven hours of sleep after socialising and work
You do not need hawk eye to tell when Serena is out for the count but we can neither confirm or deny whether her snoring makes a racket.
The tennis sensation takes a solid seven hour sleep between midnight and 7am each day after a post-dinner routine of socialising and work.
The 38-year-old former world number one is also a mum of a young daughter so her slumbers are no doubt interrupted by the littl’un every now and then.

    Cristiano Ronaldo – 7.5 hours

Ronaldo sleeps in the fetal position to stay in top shape aged 35

Ronaldo has perhaps the oddest routine of all the big stars.
Rather than one lump of rest at the end of each day like most of us, Ronnie reportedly prefers to take short naps of an hour-and-a-half each time throughout the day.
After dinner, he relaxes with his friends before a swim at 10pm.
He then takes one of his signature naps until midnight and relaxes until another short burst of sleep from around 3am before waking up for the day.
    Ronda Rousey – 8 hours

MMA star Rousey does not mess around when it comes to getting the right amount of rest

MMA and WWE star Rousey’s routine seems pretty standard.
Eight hours between midnight and 8am.
    Nice and simple.
    Tiger Woods – 8.5 hours

Tiger Woods – perhaps the greatest golfer in history – spends more than a third of his day asleep

Woods is generally considered the best golfer of all time.
And to maintain such high levels, the superstar spends eight and a half hours dreaming of sinking putts and splitting fairways.
He snoozes from 10pm to 6:30am – proving the early birdie really does catch the worm.
    Tom Brady – 9 hours

Tom Brady is widely considered the best quarter-back ever to play American Football and he does not compromise when it comes to rest

Like Woods, Brady is considered the greatest ever in his field.
The former New England Patriots quarter-back is revered in across the world for his sustained and unrivalled talent.
And the 42-year-old – who is still playing for the Tampa Bay Bucacaneers – makes sure he touches down to sleep for nine hours each day between 8:30pm and 5:30am.

    Stephen Curry – 9 hours

NBA star Stephen Curry is one of the longest sleepers on the list with a solid nine hours

Basketball star Stephen Curry is another record breaker who is set to go down in the NBA history books.
The Golden State Warriors point guard is another who does not take rest lightly – opting to hit the hay for nine hours between 11pm and 8am every day.
