How Michael Schumacher’s wife Corinna manages his life & £500million fortune and fights to keep his condition secret

TOMORROW will mark ten years since Schumacher’s tragic skiing accident and since he was last seen in public. His wife, Corinna, has fiercely protected his privacy and any details of the F1 ace’s health for the past decade.

Along with it, she continues to manage not only his life, but also a £500 million fortune.
Corinna, 54, is at the heart of Michael Schumacher’s empire which is estimated by financial experts to be over half a billion euros.
Although the renowned formula 1 driver had a circle of financial and tax advisors, he always listened to his wife and the couple made decisions together.
With real estate on different continents, Corinna meets with a small group of four or five advisors about three or four times a year.

That is when she makes future decisions about sales and investments.
Corinna  has reportedly slimmed down his £500m business empire and sold prized assets such as his private jet and house in Norway as the family retreated to their secluded home on the shore of Lake Geneva.
Last year, in the summer of 2022, the driver’s family acquired a 584,642 sq ft plot of land in Majorca, Spain for £2.4 million.
Corinna not only manages millions in assets, she is one of the most successful reining experts in the world.

As the owner of the CS ranches in Switzerland and America, she has earned over £1.5 million in prize money with her horses in reining.
Daughter Gina is now the youngest member of the One Million Dollar Club with prize money of over £1 million.
Schumacher, 54, suffered a horrific head injury while skiing with his son Mick in December 2013 – just one year after his retirement from F1.
Corinna has been looking after Michael and their children, Mick and Gina-Maria, ever since the skiing accident turned their lives upside down.
The couple married in 1995 – and Gina-Maria, 26, is a keen equestrian just like mum, while Mick, 24, has followed his dad’s footsteps into F1 with the Haas team.
No one outside of Schumacher’s inner circle – which has Corinna at its heart – really knows what is happening with Michael.
Close friends have claimed they’ve been banned from seeing the stricken F1 legend as a slick PR operation and team of lawyers ensured almost nothing about his condition has been shared with his fans.
Schumacher’s devoted wife has always said she is simply following Michael’s wishes – with the seven-time champ always being careful to keep his personal life private.
But it has left his millions of adoring fans desperate to know the truth as rumours swirl about the allegedly bed-bound icon.
Schumacher spoke of his love for his wife just days before his crash, telling German TV: “During all the time I was racing she was my guardian angel.”
And she has continued to watch over him ever since, reportedly being by his side from the moment he was rushed to hospital in Grenoble.
Corinna is said to have converted part of their £50million lakeside mansion in Gland into a state-of-the-art hospital, with a team of 15 medics providing 24-hour care at a cost of £115,000 a week.
Meanwhile the thick surrounding forest and security fences kept him away from any possible intrusion.
It’s reported Corinna has been kitted out their £27million majorca home with a mini hospital to help make the German racer comfortable.
And in a rare interview with Germany’s She magazine in 2019, Corinna revealed it is her notoriously private husband who has dictated the news blackout.
She said: “He is in the best of hands right now and we are doing everything we can to help him.
“Try to understand that we follow Michael’s desire to keep his health a secret.”
The family even waged a legal battle in 2016 after German magazine Bunte reported the racing legend “could walk”.
The court case actually led to a few small pieces of information being revealed, with Schumacher’s lawyers confirming he still couldn’t walk two years on from the crash.
Corinna also reportedly led the effort to hide a ghoulish photo of the F1 legend that was reportedly snapped and then smuggled out by a “friend”.
It is alleged to have been offered to European news outlets for a staggering £1million.
German prosecutors in Offenburg later confirmed that “an unknown person” had taken “secret” snaps and were offering them for “high amounts of money”.
They called the disgusting act a “violation of his personal range of life” and breach of privacy.
Corinna reportedly demanded the cops take action, but the media outlets refused to reveal its source – and also claimed it never saw any of the images of Schumacher.

Tyson Fury tipped for surprising role in hit TV drama as he eyes acting career following Netflix success

HE’S the Gypsy King of the ring and this year also conquered reality TV, now Tyson Fury fancies adding a serious drama to his screen credits.Peaky Blinders star Packy Lee has revealed the heavyweight boxing champ is angling for a role in a new era of the historical Brummie gangster saga.
Here’s what Tyson Fury might look like in a Peaky Blinders spin-offCredit: Supplied
Packy is developing a spin-off based on his loveable rogue character Johnny Dogs, the Traveller cousin of show star Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby.
And he says Tyson is desperate to be involved.
Packy explained: “There’s talk of a movie, there’s talk of a spin-off … I’ve had a lot of calls about it.
“At the end of the day, there’s options out there in that Peaky Blinders world.

“Tyson Fury has been on to me saying, ‘Are you serious?’ I told him, ‘You know I am.’ He told me, ‘This would be amazing.’
“Given his background he’d be the perfect cameo.”
Packy says the show’s treatment would be like when US dark comedy Breaking Bad delivered a second smash hit with its spin-off Better Call Saul.
It comes after Tyson and his wife Paris let cameras film their home life for Netflix in At Home With The Furys.

The series was so successful it helped the streamer achieve a rare entry in the UK’s top 50 most-watched shows after its release in August.
The BBC would be mad to knock out the chance of filming with the Fury. More

Netflix to show Drive to Survive style show about new sport with hopes of popularity boost like F1

SEB COE hopes a warts-and-all 2024 Netflix show will boost athletics’ global appeal and popularity — like it did to Formula One.Since 2019, there have been five series of Drive to Survive, which sees F1 drivers and team owners bicker behind the scenes.
Seb Coe hopes Netflix’s new athletics show can boost the sport’s appealCredit: Sportsfile
The worldwide fan base of that sport, particularly in the US, has exploded as it ingeniously tapped into a younger audience.
Now camera crews have been following 100 metres and 200m sprinters over the past year, including Brits Zharnel Hughes and Dina Asher-Smith.
The episodes are set to be shown around next summer’s Paris Olympics.
Double gold medallist Coe, 67, is president of World Athletics and said: “The important thing is that Netflix themselves said they were surprised.

“They were genuinely shocked by the universality, the global nature of our sport.”
It has been a breakthrough year for Hughes, who has broken the British record in both the 100m and 200m in 2023.
The 28-year-old also claimed a bronze medal in the 100m at the World Championships in Hungary.
Hughes came close to more medals at the event, finishing fourth in both the 200m and 4x100m relay.

However, it has proved to be a less successful year for Asher-Smith across the 100m and 200m distances.
She followed her World Championship bronze from last year with a seventh place finish this time around, along with coming eighth out of nine athletes in the 100m final.
Asher-Smith will hope to follow the new series with a return to glory in Paris, though, having medalled in the 4x100m relays at the last two Olympics.

He joined as a full-time pundit on the show in 2002 and became an icon on the nation’s screens.
A disagreement with producers saw him step back between 2008 and 2015 but after returning he became a stalwart on the highlights show.
On stepping back from the show this time he said he wanted “to do a few more different things with my Saturdays” after turning 60.
And one of those other things looks to be an acting gig.

A source said: “Daniel [Kaluuya] is a massive Gooner, and a huge Ian Wright fan. He’s written this incredible thriller, and wanted Ian to appear.
“So he got in touch, and Ian was delighted — and leapt at the chance.
“He hasn’t had any acting lessons but after years appearing on Match of the Day — and having recently shot an M&S gig — he’s actually a natural in front of the camera. He has about four scenes.”
Fans have speculated that he could be set to join the next series of Strictly Come Dancing as one of the big name stars next year.
Some even went as far as saying he could be the new judge after speculation that Craig Revel Horwood would quit.
Wright will still be on Match of The Day until the end of this season, and will be hoping that Arsenal’s title push could provide him with the ultimate parting gift. More

World’s worst football team lost 31-0 & were so bad goalie QUIT in humiliation… but that WASN’T their most dramatic game

WHEN Thomas Rongen was offered the chance to coach the American Samoan national football team ahead of a World Cup qualifier, he jumped at the chance to move to the South Pacific paradise. But this was no ordinary coaching job in the sunshine.

Dubbed the worst team in the world, the side had lost all 30 of their official matches during their 20-year history and in 2001 had suffered the most crushing defeat ever in an international, losing 31-0 to Australia.
A decade on, Dutch-born Thomas — who had played alongside such legends as Johan Cruyff and George Best in the US before becoming a Major League Soccer coach — had just three weeks to knock them into shape before their qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
But the seemingly impossible task would prove to be a lifeline for players and coach alike, offering redemption to the ridiculed 2001 goalie whose own son called him a loser, while putting Thomas in touch with a spirituality which allowed him to finally grieve for the loss of his teenage stepdaughter.
The moving story, told in a 2014 documentary, Next Goal Wins, has now been turned into a Hollywood movie of the same name by director Taika Waititi, with Michael Fassbender in the role of Thomas.
    READ MORE FOOTBALL NEWS
The classic underdog-to-victory tale, to be released on Boxing Day, sees the former US Under-20 coach taking on a squad too unfit to last 90 minutes and leading them to their first international victory, a 2-1 win against Tonga, in November 2011.
It also focuses on star player Jaiyah “Johnny” Saelua, the first transgender footballer to play as an international, with trans actor Kaimana in the role, and the seemingly fractious relationship between her and the coach.
It was only after taking up the job in American Samoa that Thomas realised the uphill task ahead of him when he watched a few games in a tournament before meeting the team.
The rag-tag bunch had turned out at the Pacific Games representing their tiny island territory, which lies 1,317 miles east of Fiji and has a population of just 44,620.

Thomas, now 67, told a sports website: “Nobody could play 90 minutes. OK, I’ve got three weeks, that’s an area where we can improve.
    Uphill battle
“I thought I could make a few tweaks, but I’m not sure you can do anything big in three weeks.”
The team were also still mentally bruised by the humiliating Aussie defeat ten years earlier. It had come about after a last-minute demand for the players to produce American passports, which 19 out of 20 could not do.
They were replaced by a new squad of inexperienced players with an average age of 19, two of whom, including Jaiyah, were just 15.
Goalkeeper Nicky Salapu was the only original squad member who could produce the required passport — which he would live to regret after having to pick the ball out of the net 31 times. He retired from the game shortly afterwards.
Thomas told us: “When he walked down the street with his son, they would say, ‘You’re the guy who gave up 31 goals’.
“He said, ‘My son thinks I’m a loser and I’m done with this’.” The defeat haunted Nicky until Thomas persuaded him to return for the 2011 Tonga game which ended in victory.
The coach explained: “He came back and the greatest moment was hugging him and he said, ‘I just called my son and he now thinks I’m a hero’. Those things end up being more important than some of the other stuff.”

The first goal came from captain Ramin Ott, who scored a rocket in the 44th minute.
Shalom Luani doubled their lead in the 74th.
Tonga scored with three minutes to go, but it was too late to snatch the landmark victory from the ecstatic American Samoan team.
Portrayed in the film as a hard-drinking divorcee — which director Taika has admitted “twisted” the story — Thomas was battling demons when he arrived on the island in 2011.
He was struggling to cope with the death of his stepdaughter Nicole, a 19-year-old college footballer, who died in a car crash in 2004.
Although an atheist, Thomas embraced the deeply religious culture of the island, which is more than 98 per cent Christian, and found the daily prayers helped him to confront his grief for the first time.
He said: “It’s a small island and there are a lot of tribes and around 4pm they all do their big bells, and everyone stops, even cars. People sit down and reflect and pray. This happened during a training session, and I was like, ‘What the f***?’ Then the third day I joined them in church and I just cried.
“That was an awakening of a part in my body that I had suppressed and it allowed me to be free again and think about my daughter with a smile now.”
Maori New Zealander Taika, who is married to British singer Rita Ora, says Next Goal Wins is inspired by the 2014 documentary but only loosely based on it.
He told an audience at this year’s Toronto Film Festival: “I saw the documentary a few years ago and I thought it was a story I had to tell, and twist it — other- wise you might as well see the documentary.”

Thomas’s own incredible career is worthy of a documentary in itself.
He first made his name as a player, rising through the ranks as a promising defender with Amsterdam-sche FC. Then, in his early 20s, he moved to the US to compete in the new North American Soccer League.
He played — and roomed — with his hero Johan Cruyff, and George Best and Franz Beckenbauer, who all played out their later years in the US.
Keeping up with George proved a challenge — particularly off the pitch. Thomas told sport website The Athletic how the Manchester United hero’s first wife Angie confronted him after a night-long booze-up on Christmas Eve 1979.
He said: “Our routine was we’d drag him up the stairs, undress him and get him into bed and the next day we’d make sure he was OK. So we open the kitchen door and (Dutch footballer) Wim Suurbier steps in first, and Angie is standing there with a butcher knife.
“She’s six feet away, she takes two steps forward, she has it above her head and she goes towards Bestie.”
That drama ended without mishap, and peacemaker Thomas is similarly seen as a hero in American Samoa. But in the film he is at first portrayed as a bad guy, especially when it comes to Jaiyah’s identity.
She is a member of the island culture’s “third gender”, or Fa’afafine, who are widely accepted in American Samoan society. Her team-mates were supportive throughout her career and she was known for her killer tackles and “taking no prisoners” on the pitch.
But in the film Thomas initially deliberately misgenders her, calling her by her male name before she finally punches him to the ground.Jaiyah — who changed her name legally in 2017 and fully transitioned in 2019 — is behind the film but she insists the tension between her and Thomas is hugely exaggerated, calling their relationship “not bad”.
She added: “It was a nice little twist to make Thomas — or Fassbender — into a villain in the movie.”
Despite beating Tonga, American Samoa failed to qualify for the 2014 World Cup — they drew another qualifier 1-1 against the Cook Islands but lost another, against Samoa, 1-0.
But under Thomas’s leadership they found a new sense of optimism and for Taika, Next Goal Wins was more about celebrating American Samoa than the team’s rise to victory.
He told Time magazine that when audiences watch the movie: “I just want them to experience a little bit of a different culture that they probably never think about.”
As for Thomas, he was originally to be played by Russell Crowe, a friend of the director, but he added: “He (Taika) said Russell is so heavy he can’t run up and down, so we went with Fassbender.”
Now living in South Florida, Thomas is currently in talks to coach American Samoa for the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

He said: “That might be a sequel.”
