Major update in hunt for gang who kidnapped Liverpool star Luis Diaz’ parents as cops ‘closing the net’ on suspects

COLOMBIAN police say they are closing the net on the gang who kidnapped Liverpool star Luis Diaz’s parents after identifying some of the suspects.Alejandro Zapata, deputy director of the country’s Policia Nacional, said he was not in a position to name names.

But he said investigators were “clear about people who could be linked” to Saturday’s abduction of Luis Manuel Diaz and Cilenis Marulanda in their home town of Barrancas.
Mr Zapata confirmed investigators were treating the kidnap as a “premeditated crime” which had been meticulously planned.
He added: “When something like this happens, it is generally not spontaneous and there has been previous planning, people that draw people to a certain place, that is, who place them somewhere so that others arrive and that’s what we are investigating.”
He also spoke about the possibility that Luis Manuel was smuggled into Venezuela following the rescue of the Liverpool striker’s mum just hours after the abduction.

Mr Zapata said: “What we know is that the kidnap occurred in La Guajira and it’s close to the border of course.
“We don’t have any evidence at the moment indicating he has been taken across the border, we can’t say that’s what’s happened, but we can’t rule it out either.
“It’s very possible his captors look to the possibility of fleeing to Venezuela.”
Appearing to support the idea the gang who have Luis Manuel are in hiding and have not managed to cross into Venezuela, Mr Zapata’s boss William Rene Salamanca Ramirez told Colombian media: “I can’t give any information on that and I want to be very prudent.

“I myself flew over an area you’d cross in and they would have to cross the Perija Mountains and I don’t think a human being could survive that.
“We were trying to put some commando units into that area and we couldn’t because of the dense jungle vegetation.
“An army blockade has been in place in the lower part of the mountains which would be the normal route into Venezuela.”
Colombia’s Attorney General Francisco Barbosa had confirmed earlier it was possible the winger’s dad could already be across the border.
He said Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro would be asked to help free Luis Diaz’s dad if it emerged that was the case.
A reward of up to £40,000 has been offered by the authorities for information.
A man described as the best friend of Luis Manuel Diaz told a Colombian radio station the footballer’s dad and his wife had been heading to the home of a relative of Cilenis.
Victor Medina said: “It was 5.30pm local time on Saturday. They had filled up with petrol and then went to a neighbourhood nearby to collect something from a relative of Celinis.
“There the captors arrived, four men on motorbikes.
“They threatened them with weapons, made them get into the same vehicle and sped off with the other two on a motorbike tailing them.
“They headed for a rural area. The authorities were informed and there was a chase.”Luis’ mum has yet to speak publicly about her ordeal.

When it comes to his personal ventures, Messi released his luxury clothing label with Tommy Hilfiger’s sister Ginny Hilfiger in 2019.
He also became a hotelier in 2017 after buying the MiM Sitges in a coastal resort near Barcelona for £26million.

Before Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi hogged the trophy for over a decade, the last player to beat them to it was Brazilian legend Kaka.
The playmaking superstar, 41, won the award in 2007, the same year he set up the winning goal for Milan in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
Two years earlier, he had tormented the English giants once again in Istanbul, only for them to turn it around in one of the most dramatic games of all time.
After retiring in 2017, Kaka is still reported to be worth £74million, thanks in part to his huge social media following.
He was the first athlete to gain over 10million followers on X, formerly known as Twitter, and has 22.7million fans on Instagram.
The savvy star has struck up lucrative deals with Global smart technology company OPPO, American Tourister and Playstation, whom he recently starred in a promo for alongside Gareth Bale.

With those accolades has also come a vast sum of wealth.
He is estimated to have a net worth of around £50million.
However, following his fight against Dillian Whyte in April 2023, some estimates put that figure as high as £130m.
Fury has put this wealth to good use, investing in a number of luxury assets.

Cars are one of the main items Fury’s money has gone towards, with his garage featuring a pair of Rolls Royce, a Porsche Taycan and a Ferrari to name but a few.
But chief among his assets are his houses.
Fury is said to own a number of properties, including the £1.7m pad featured in his Netflix documentary At Home With The Furys and a Las Vegas home where he is said to have let his coach stay cost free.
Below we will take a look at some of the stunning properties.

    The home featured five bedrooms
For years Fury and his family lived in a beautiful five-bed home in Morecambe.
Tyson has remained adamant he would never uproot his home from Morecambe telling ITV doc Tyson Fury: The Gypsy King in 2020: “Why would I abandon my own country for a bit of money and some fame?
“I love it… It’s true beauty. If the weather was better, every house here would be a million quid.”
And considering the Fury’s former house, it’s clear to see why he would not want to leave.
In 2021, the five-bed, four-bathroom Lancashire home of Fury that overlooked Morecambe Bay was estimated to be worth £550,000.
Fury’s wife Paris often gave fans a sneak peek into their home
The home was suitably decked out inside as well, as shown thanks to the snaps Fury’s wife Paris often shared to her social media pages.
Oil paintings, large photos of Fury in action and a trophy cabinet were all present in the property.
There were even gold curtains and a huge gold-framed Versace mirror.
A walk in wardrobe was also a frequent sight on Paris’ stories, featuring designer handbags and glamorous outfits to rival the Kardashian’s of the world.

True to his word, Fury snubbed a move elsewhere in order to remain by his beloved Morecambe.
In December 2020, Fury brought a new seaside mansion which, according to Land Registry documents obtained by The Mirror, set Tyson Fury Ltd. back a cool £1,695,000, and is mortage-free.
With seven children in tow – after welcoming their seventh in September 2023 – the new property gave the Furys a new lease of Morecambe life.
Paris was given free reign on the interior design of the stunning property, which features gold chandeliers, marble-topped counters and a grand piano.
The home featured heavily in the Netflix show At Home With The Furys, which offered fans a glimpse inside the chaotic and full-on life of Britian’s top heavyweight boxer.
There is a castellated front wall and wrought-iron black and gold fence and CCTV warning signs for security as well as lion motifs and four eagle sculptures to keep up appearances.
A water fountain can also be seen at the front of the property, while there is also a mini-playground with the “Gypsy King” logo painted on the floor outside.

Fortunately, Paris has upgraded her walk-in wardrobe for her amazing shoe collection – estimated to be worth a cool £50,000.
Speaking to loose women in 2020, Paris – who tied the knot with Fury in 2009 – explained the move came from them deciding to prioritise their children’s safety.
She said: “We get people around the house. It’s not good, we actually have to because of that.
“We’re in the process of moving house because we’ve had too many people at the door – too many strangers knocking.
“And we have five children here, it’s not like me and Tyson’s here, two adults who can sort of deal with situations.
“We have people coming to the house and the kids are opening the door and we don’t know who they’re opening the door to. It’s not what we need. It’s not the ideal situation.”

But it hasn’t always been fancy digs for Fury, as once upon a time, he lived in a caravan on his father’s land.
Fury was raised as a traveller and left school at 11, but never lost touch with his roots despite his fame and fortune.
Indeed, dad John still retains that way of life as shown in the Netflix doc.
On his ITV documentary, Fury was seen wheeling his wagon around outside his Morecambe home.
    Marbella home
Fury is also said to own a stunning white-cobbled mansion in Marbella, Spain reportedly worth up to £6m.
Pictures from 2018 have shown Fury in front of the property which features columns, large windows and an array of palm trees.
After revealing the pad on his story he said: ““New house had to treat myself.
“Been a long time coming. But the Mack in back [sic]. MTV Cribs blessed by God.”
Fury shared a snap in front of a stunning Marbella mansion
    Sin City digs
Fury’s property empire is not limited to this side of the Atlantic either.
Over in Las Vegas, also known as Sin City, Fury is said to own a stunning mansion as well as one other property.
Fury explained that he uses the pad when he fights in the United States, such as in his epic trilogy with Deontay Wilder.
And his coach SugarHill Steward has been allowed to stay at the property rent free until he is called upon to help Fury with his fight preparation.

Fury previously said ahead of his fight with Derek Chisora: “I have bought a big beautiful house out there and never really used it, one camp.

Does Trent Alexander-Arnold have a girlfriend?
According to multiple reports, Trent’s girlfriend is British model and influencer Hannah Atkins.
Atkins does her best to keep her personal life under wraps, even opting for a private account on Instagram.

The former McLaren ace has been walking the grid trying to get interviews with drivers and celebrities pre-race since 1997.
But the 62-year-old has admitted he doesn’t like doing the gridwalk at all.
He said on X, formerly Twitter: “There’s a reason why I’ve never watched back an F1 gridwalk in a quarter of a century of doing them.
“You have no idea how much I dislike doing them but somehow those crazy moments have defined my professional career.
“Oh well, that’s the way it is.”
Here we take a look at some of his most memorable gridwalk moments:
    US Grand Prix 2021
The Sky Sports reporter wanted to have a chat with special guest Megan Thee Stallion on the grid, but was initially confronted by a ‘man mountain’ — only for Megan to lightheartedly slap her security guard on the wrist.
Brundle muttered, “That’s a very big bloke in front of her,” before asking: “Megan, Martin Brundle from British television, how are you? Megan Thee Stallion, you’re a freestyle rapper, have you got any rap for us today on Formula One?”
The American star laughed as she admitted: “I have no rap today, I’m sorry.
But the interview swiftly concluded when ‘Draco Malfoy’ appeared — with the irritable blond shoving Brundle away.
The Malfoy lookalike scowled at the reporter as he led Megan away.
In his Sky Sports column, Brundle laughed off the incident.
He wrote: “I did chuckle on Monday.
“After all the blood, sweat, tears and broken bones, the glorious victories and dismal failures, the monstrous crashes, the quadruple stints on a treacherous rainy night in Le Mans, guiding a 1250 bhp flying bedsted through Monaco qualifying, along with 25 years of broadcasting, I’ve finally become mildly well known for being ignored by celebrities whilst simultaneously being swatted to one side by a man mountain and told off by a Malfoy lookalike doubtless attending his first F1 race.
“My gridwalk return after two years was probably a bit too cheeky in Austin but nonetheless a lot of fun.
“Actually, my real claim to fame is that I once played snooker with Mark Knopfler, and what a lovely bloke he was too.”
    US Grand Prix 2022
The F1 pundit tried and failed to chat to the Hollywood actor during his traditional pre-race walk before lights out at the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.
But Pitt awkwardly rebuffed Brundle, much to the disappointment of F1 fans.
The 64-year-old revealed Pitt had been in contact with him since their run-in.
He tweeted: “Got a note from Brad Pitt explaining what happened with our near miss on the Austin grid.
“Unnecessary, but nice of him. Absolutely nobody is obliged to talk to me on the grid, but as I endeavour to make 10/12 minutes of live and unscripted sports TV I’m obliged to at least ask.”
    Miami Grand Prix 2022
At the inaugural Miami GP, Brundle delivered one of the most chaotic gridwalks yet.
The popular F1 pundit brushed shoulders with the likes of DJ Khaled and Britain’s own David Beckham.
But Brundle struggled with some of the lesser names on the grid.
He mistook basketballer Paolo Banchero for NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes, which to viewers was both “incredibly awkward and hysterically funny”.
    British Grand Prix 2023
Cara Delevingne appeared to be unaware of Brundle’s gridwalk authority and brutally snubbed the former F1 driver as he attempted to grab an interview.
He began by talking to a member of Delevingne’s entourage and said: “She doesn’t want to talk but everybody needs to talk on the grid.
“That’s the deal now, everybody talks on the grid.”
He then approached Delevingne and said: “Can we have a quick chat, [for] Sky F1? Good to see you on the grid.”
To which Delevingne replied: “No.” and looked awkwardly at her entourage.
Delevingne refused again and Brundle reiterated: “The deal is everybody has to speak on the grid.”
She then said: “I can’t hear anything, I’m so sorry.”
Brundle then said sarcastically as he walked away: “I’m sure it would have been extremely interesting.”
What is Martin Brundle’s net worth?
