      Jenson Button SNUBS Lewis Hamilton as he picks Max Verstappen as the ‘most gifted driver’ in F1

      MAX VERSTAPPEN is the fastest and most gifted driver in F1, according to former world champ Jensen Button.The Sky Sports pundit says Verstappen will believe he has a point to prove after winning the 2021 World Championship in controversial circumstances.

      But Button does believe Verstappen has work to do to build on his natural ability and become the all-round driver Hamilton is.
      Button told Sky Sports F1: “For me, he’s the fastest, most gifted driver of anyone, but it’s whether he can improve on that and build himself into someone like Lewis who is the complete package.
      “I’m sure [Verstappen] wants to come out fighting and fight for victory from the word go.
      “It’s kind of a World Championship he has won, but I’m sure he wants to go and win another so he can go ‘look, it wasn’t down to Michael Masi’.
      “It’s always difficult when there’s a controversial ending, but he’s an exceptional talent and I said that from the word go.
      “Max was always going to be a good driver and it’s whether he can keep building on the natural ability he has.”

      However, Button believes Mercedes have the upper hand over Red Bull going into the new season and has predicted Hamilton to battle it out with new team-mate George Russell for the championship.
      Hamilton was subject to retirement rumours since the end of last season but on Monday he revealed he will be coming back for another year.
      And he is set to speak to media at the unveiling of Mercedes’ new car on Friday, alongside Russell.
      He will likely be asked about the controversy in Abu Dhabi with the FIA still yet to make a decision on the future of race director Michael Masi after he broke his own rules in Yas Marina. More

      NEW Mercedes driver George Russell will NOT wear a red helmet out of respect for F1 legend Michael Schumacher.The Brit, Lewis Hamilton’s new team-mate, will instead wear a black helmet for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

      Russell’s decision to ditch red – a colour he has largely used in his career – is out of respect for legend Schumacher.
      Russell said: “A red helmet in a Mercedes I thought was very Michael Schumacher, and I really wanted to respect that and go in a different direction.
      “I’ve brought forward the black, I’ve got the red on the side with the Crowdstrike [sponsor], and bringing forward this blue detailing, which I really, really love and it’s probably something you’ll see a bit more of this year.
      “I’ve obviously got my GR63 logo on the side, my number on the top, Mercedes star on the front.
      “I think it looks really cool and really aggressive. I hope you like it and you’ll be seeing it soon in the W13 at Silverstone.”
      Schumacher wore a red helmet between 2010-12 when he was racing for Mercedes.

      Ferrari investigating after pictures of car for 2022 F1 season ‘LEAKED’ online a day before official unveiling

      FERRARI fans have been studying photos on social media which appear to show leaked images of this year’s F1 car.The Italian F1 team are due to unveil the F1-75 in an online ceremony on Thursday – but the photos are already circulating.

      Leaks have been commonplace during launch season with some designs making it on to social media a few hours before, but not a full 24-hours.
      One poster on Twitter wrote: “Another car leaked. This is actually really beautiful. Welcome, F1-75”.
      This season’s new rule changes offer Ferrari their best chance of tackling Red Bull and Mercedes for the championship.
      And Carlos Sainz says that it is “innovative to the max” and is looking forward to getting behind the wheel at F1 testing in Barcelona next Wednesday.
      He said: “It is different from the cars seen in recent years. Innovative to the max.
      “Until last year we drove the best cars in the history of F1, well balanced but spiteful, if you lost control for a moment, you would crash.

      Williams REMOVE tribute to Ayrton Senna from car for first time since F1 legend’s death 28 years ago as team ‘move on’

      WILLIAMS have snubbed tributes to the late Ayrton Senna on their 2022 F1 car for the first time since the Brazilian’s death.The team is now owned by US private investment firm Dorilton Capital.

      And they have said that they wanted to ‘move on’.
      The iconic Senna ‘S’ logo has featured on every Williams F1 car since his death 28 years ago.
      The legend was killed while racing for the team at Imola in 1994.
      Team principal Jost Capito said: “The decision was that we want to move on in the future.
      “We have a new era, we have a new car and we refurbished our museum where we have a special area to celebrate Ayrton.
      “We had to look now in the future and not showing the drivers the ‘S’ all the time they get in the car and being reminded on what happened.”

      He’ll join Silver Arrows principal Toto Wolff and new team-mate George Russell on a live stream beamed across the world.
      The trio will chat as part of the broadcast, which will also give an exclusive first look at the Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 E Performance that will take to the grid next month.
      F1 fans’ excitement is building ahead of the new season, with a number of teams having already revealed their new cars.
      The first pre-season testing will take place in Barcelona next week, although won’t feature live, race-style coverage.
      Official testing, with live TV access and fans present, will then go ahead in Bahrain between March 10-12, with the first Grand Prix of the season set to take place in the same location a week later.

      Mercedes were left furious by Michael Masi’s decision to let the cars between Max Verstappen and Hamilton unlap themselves behind the safety car at the end of the now-infamous Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December.

      NICHOLAS LATIFI has revealed he hired SECURITY GUARDS during a trip to London following death threats he received from Lewis Hamilton fans.The 26-year-old has stated how he felt forced to protect himself rom a potential attack when he visited London’s Winter Wonderland after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

      Williams driver Latifi declared in December how he had received shocking abuse following his crash in the Formula One season finale.
      The Canadian ace crashed into the barriers on lap 54 which resulted in a safety car being deployed.
      This ultimately wiped out Hamilton lead in the Middle East, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen then pipping him to a record eighth world title on the last lap.
      And with the abuse so extreme, Latifi has said he felt obliged to take measures to protect himself when he was out with his model girlfriend Sandra Dziwiszek.
      Speaking at Williams’ car launch on Tuesday, he remarked: “It sounds silly to some people but at the end of the day, you don’t know how serious people are.
      “All it needs is one drunk fan at an airport, or you bump into someone who is having a bad day and they are intoxicated under the influence of something and they have these really extreme opinions.
