LEWIS HAMILTON has taken new Mercedes team-mate George Russell way off track and into the sea – with a promise to take to the sky next.British racing legend Hamilton, 37, posted an Instagram photo of him and Russell, 24, wearing wetsuits and stood next to surf boards.

Hamilton captioned the image: “Got in as much surfing as I could in Melbourne.
“It’s so good for training, I’m trying to get the whole team on boards.
“So far I got George Russell. He’s… getting there.”
And it sounds like the burgeoning bromance might move up another gear next as Hamilton tweeted the same image and said “next up” he is planning to get Russell to “skydive”.

Seven-time world champion Hamilton has been skydiving for years and is also a keen surfer.
Former Williams star Russell joined Merc to race alongside fellow Brit Hamilton this season as a replacement for Finnish star Valtteri Bottas.
Russell has made it clear he has not joined the team to make up the numbers alongside Hamilton but to compete for the title himself.
But the social media images suggest any competitive edge between the two stars has not adversely affected their growing friendship.

Russell claimed his first podium place of the season as he finished third at the Australian Grand Prix on the weekend.
Ahead of next week’s fourth round, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Russell is second in the drivers’ standings with 37 points, nine points ahead of fifth-placed Hamilton.

Hamilton, 37, already trails leader Charles Leclerc by 43 points, while George Russell is 34 points behind the Ferrari star.
The Silver Arrows have been blighted by porpoising issues since unveiling their new W13 car.
But while conceding it will be difficult, Wolff has refused to give up all hope.
The Austrian, 50, told GP Fans: “If we look at it from a mathematical standpoint and probability, I would probably say that the odds are eight-to-two but this is motor racing and anything can happen.

“Teams can DNF and if we unlock the potential of the car then we can arrive back in the game.

On his current state of mind, Wolff said: “I don’t sleep, and that is not because of jet lag.
“I am not sleeping because I am beating myself up on how to get on top of these things. It is a miserable state of mind.
“But you cannot be miserable. I have to look for solutions and I am trying to improve myself in order to extract more performance — and it’s the same for Lewis.
“I see an upbeat Lewis when we start the day and then a downbeat Lewis when the session has gone worse than expected. I have had to stop thinking in terms of sessions and weekends, but about years.

LEWIS HAMILTON has returned to London after a visit to the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia.The seven-time Formula 1 world champion stopped off in Kuala Lumpur on his way back from Melbourne, having competed in the Australian Grand Prix last weekend.

While there, Sir Lewis checked out the amazing view from the Petronas Towers.
Despite their high-profile sponsorship of Mercedes, Hamilton had never visited Petronas HQ before, but thoroughly enjoyed his visit.
The 37-year-old shared a number of pictures of the stunning view from the top floor, while urging his followers to check it out.
