    Carles Falcon dead aged 45: Spanish motorcyclist passes away after suffering horror crash during Dakar Rally

    SPANISH motorcyclist Carles Falcon has died after suffering a serious crash during the Dakar Rally.The 45-year-old racer was rushed to hospital in a helicopter in a “serious condition” after crashing during the second stage of the famous rally on January 7.

    On Friday he returned to Spain, still in an induced coma, on a medicalised plane and was admitted to an intensive care ward in his native region of Catalonia.
    Today it was confirmed he had lost his fight for life.
    Carles’ team, the TwinTrail Racing Team, said in an emotional statement: “This Monday January 15th Carles has left us.
    “The medical team has confirmed the neurological damage caused by cardiovascular arrest at the time of the accident is irreversible.

    “Carles was a smiling, always active person, who enjoyed with passion everything he did, especially motorcycles.
    “He’s left us doing something that was his dream, competing in the Dakar. He was enjoying himself, he was happy on the bike.”
    “We remember him for his smile and for the happiness he created in everyone.
    “He trained as a computer engineer and his passion was being a motorcycle instructor and motorcycle tour guide.

    “There are many who have learned by his side. He taught with patience, energy and happiness and made everyone enjoy motorbikes.
    “This is what he has left us and we will always keep with us, all of us who have been close to him, family, friends, team-mates and supporters.”
    Falcon had to be resuscitated after he was found without a pulse by doctors in the Saudi desert during the off-road endurance event.
    Race director David Castera said he “hit his head on the ground” after he fell on to the rocky track.
    The crash was seen by another racer who notified officials.
    He was taken to Al Dawadmi General Hospital in Saudi Arabia where he underwent emergency surgery.
    As well as a cerebral edema he suffered several fractures including one in his C2 cervical vertebra.
    A statement from Twin Trail Racing said after his accident and before his transfer to Spain: “Over the next few days Carles will be kept sedated to control the development of the edema he has suffered in his head.
    “Team-mate Isaac Feliu will not continue in the race and has moved along with the midfield team to be able to stand by his side.
    “As soon as we have news, we will report on their condition and development.
    “From the team and family we appreciate all the messages of support received.
    “Team-mate Isaac Feliu has decided not to finish the race out of solidarity with Falcon.”

    Officers at the Chalong Police Station were notified of the accident at 8:08 am on Thursday, cops have said.
    They arrived at the scene shortly after to find the boxer’s body in a pool of blood.
    Fariyar was rushed to the Chalong Hospital but was later pronounced dead due to a severe head wound.
    Initial police investigations suggest he had lost control of his motorcycle while navigating the curved tunnel.

    The two-wheeler was said to have struck the curb before crashing.
    Fariyar’s body has been taken to the Vachira Phuket Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
    Authorities are in contact with the Iranian Embassy for the repatriation of his remains to his homeland.
    Police Lieutenant Colonel Wiriyaphong Srinuanpan said: “We are checking CCTV cameras and speaking with witnesses to find out how the accident happened.

    At the moment, we do not believe any other vehicles were involved.”
    The “extremely talented” boxer was a rising star in the Muay Thai boxing scene.
    He fought five matches for the ONE Championship, winning four bouts against high profile opponents.
    He suffered a defeat in his last match, which was against Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek UThai at ONE Friday Fights 46 on December 22.
    Fariyar’s gym, Tiger Muay Thai, wrote a tribute for the fallen athlete online.
    The statement read: “It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Fariyar Aminipour.
    “Since joining our team in late 2022 with only amateur fighting experience, the extremely talented Fariyar skyrocketed in the professional Muay Thai world, defeating huge names of the sport on ONE Lumpinee events and becoming a top 10 ranked fighter.
    “At only 23 years old, lion-hearted Fariyar had already accomplished so much, and was well on track to achieving his dream of becoming a ONE world champion.
    “Gone far, far too soon due to a tragic accident, Fariyar will be missed greatly and will remain in all of our thoughts.”

    Falcon, 45, had to be resuscitated after he was found without a pulse by doctors in the Saudi desert during the off-road endurance event.

    The helicopter reached the scene in 16 minutes as it was said that he was in a “serious condition”.

    Race organiser, ASO, said: “Immediately notified by another racer who was following him, the organisation dispatched a medical helicopter which took care of the injured motorcyclist in a condition considered serious.
    “He was airlifted to Al-Duwadimi hospital.”
    After he had been resuscitated he was rushed to Al-Duwadimi hospital.
    Falcon’s Twintrail Racing Team revealed that he underwent emergency surgery that night.

    The Spaniard was 76th after Saturday’s opening stage of the race before he suffered the crash in the second stage.
    Last year Carlos Sainz Sr was airlifted to hospital after crashing down a sand dune.

    Rising motorbike star Leydy Diaz, 24, dies in qualifying race crash on ‘dangerous’ bend where 3 riders were injured

    The fatal event on September 3 took place on a steep curve that also left two other bikers injured during qualifications for the presitigous Grand Prix Colombia.
    She fell and crashed as she attempted to ride up the narrow curve on the track, nicknamed “Curva Motor” and “El Curvon”.
    The president of the Colombian Motorcycle Federation, Carlos Andres Ramirez, said two other riders also fell at the dangerous curve but Leydy was most badly injured.
    He told local media: “Today’s race was running counterclockwise, and it was entering the bend that she went off.

    “Actually, three riders went down. In qualifying, everyone is turning and trying to set the best time, and no one knows who is ahead or behind.
    The curve which claimed Leydy’s life was not the “most complex” on the track, the high speed she was riding at claimed her life.
    Paramedics did their best to revive her but the young woman could not be saved.
    Ramirez continued: “The impact was severe, all protocols were activated, on-site attention was provided, but unfortunately, due to the seriousness of the impact, she did not survive all the procedures.”

    Authorities have promised to investigate the causes of the accident through technical analysis.
    The rest of the motorcycle event was cancelled due to the young athlete’s death.
    The event organisers said in a statement: “On this dark day for Colombian Motorsport, we pay tribute to the promising life and career of Leydy Diaz, which was cut short by the brutal accident.”
    Leydy was a mechanical engineer by profession and dedicated her life to sports.
    Before beginning motorcycling, she was a professional skater for 11 consecutive years and a cyclist for two years.
    This year, she represented her country at the Italika Racing Ibero-American Women’s Championship in Mexico City.
    In an earlier interview with local media, Leydy said: “Thank you for the opportunities, the experiences, and for those people who were part of a dream, the one I fought for a long time and managed to achieve.”
    Tributes have continued to pour in for the talented motorcyclist, and many fans have commented on her last Instagram post before her untimely death.

    MotoGP champ’s girlfriend breaks down in tears and is consoled after boyfriend is run over by TWO rivals in horror crash

    In frightening scenes, Bagnaia was then inadvertently run over by two of his rivals while lying on the track.
    The 26-year-old initially tried to get to his feet, before collapsing to the ground as medics rushed on to help him.
    As the scary scene unfolded, Bagnaia’s girlfriend Domizia Castagnini was in floods of tears.
    The fashion buyer and social media star was consoled by a member of Bagnaia’s team, Ducati.

    Bagnaia and Domizia are claimed to have been together for around seven years.
    After initially receiving treatment on site, Bagnaia was taken to hospital.
    On Bagnaia’s condition, MotoGP Medical Director Dr. Angel Charte told DAZN: “Pecco has had severe polytrauma, a motorbike ran over him in the femoral and tibial area.
    “We have taken x-rays of this area and have detected a small injury that we don’t know if it is current or old.

    “We need to do an urgent CAT scan and that is why we have sent him to the general hospital.
    “At cranial, thoracic and abdominal levels, he has been normal at all times. He was conscious and oriented.
    “The image we have seen is from conventional radiology, so it is difficult to be sure that there is no fracture. It is necessary to do a CAT scan.”
    Bagnaia yesterday shared a picture of himself from hospital, sat on a bed with a thumb up.
    He captioned it: “Today I can only say thanks.”
    The Moto GP star received plenty of nice comments.
    Fabio Quartararo wrote: “Forzaaaa.”
    And Luca Salvadori commented: “Now we have doubts that you have the bones of Adamantio like Wolverine!”

    Gary Vines dead aged 33: Tributes pour in after motorbike racer dies after Manx Grand Prix crash

    The session was paused while the crash was dealt with by emergency staff.
    The organisers announced Vines, 33, had died as a result of his injuries.
    A statement read: “It is with a heavy heart that the Manx Grand Prix can confirm the loss of Gary Vines, who succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident in the first qualifying session of the 2023 event.
    “Everyone involved in the organisation of the Manx Grand Prix would like to express their deepest sympathies to Gary’s family, his partner, his loved ones, and friends.

    “Gary was also a skilled off-road rider, and had contested the notorious Red Bull Romaniacs hard enduro rallye.

    Vines made his debut at the Manx Gran Prix in 2015 and won the Newcomers B Race.

    Damon Rees dead at 28: Motorbike star passes away after losing battle with medical condition

    NEW ZEALAND championship motorbike rider Damon Rees has passed away aged 28 after a sudden medical condition.His wife, Talia Rees, had earlier posted a update on his health as she described him “critical but stable” and hailed him as a “warrior” while stating he was “doing an incredible job at fighting this battle.”

    Now she has confirmed that he has passed away and says that he is “now my guardian angel”.
    Confirming the sad news in a post on social media, she wrote: “I am heartbroken. I love you Damon Rees – you are now my guardian angel.”
    Rees competed for two seasons in the National Superstock 1000 Championship after opting to leave New Zealand at the start of 2020.
    The ex-NZ Supersport champion finished eighth in his rookie season and earned his maiden podiums.

    He then joined Ashcourt Racing alongside Northern Ireland British Supersport rider Lee Johnston to ride a BMW S1000RR the following campaign.Rees stayed with them during the next season but switched to the Supersport class on a Yamaha R6.

    A Binch Racing statement read: “It is with a very heavy heart that we confirm Damo passed away last night.
    “Despite putting up a fight and battling as hard as he could, he was just too poorly.

    A British Superbike Championship statement read: ““Our thoughts are with the family, friends and team of Damon Rees this morning.
    “He was a popular rider within the paddock since joining the series and he will be sadly missed after losing his fight with an unexpected medical condition.”
    Rees finished 10th in the British Supersport Feature race at Knockhill in Scotland on June 18 after taking eighth in the Sprint encounter a day previously in his final race.

    Shocking moment motorbike splits in two in horror MotoGP crash as race is stopped

    MOTOGP fans witnessed a SHOCKING crash on Friday afternoon as Marc Marquez hit the deck before splitting Johann Zarco’s bike in HALF.German GP practise had three minutes remaining in the session when it came to an abrupt halt.

    Marquez flew onto the gravel but thankfully both drivers got back to their feet
    Marquez, 30, prepared to take a right-hand turn but lost balance and slid onto the tarmac.
    As he skidded off the circuit, his bike collided with Zarco, 32, – who was just in front of him.
    And a blind-sighted Zarco was shunted by the impact as his bike astonishingly broke into two pieces.
    Marquez was immediately back to his feet as he ran back towards the track to try and grab his second bike.

    But a yellow flag quickly became a red flag as the session was brought to an end.
    Zarco took a little longer to get back to his feet, but after marshals came on to check his condition, he was able to stand up and walk off the circuit.
    Reacting to the crash, one social media user said: “😲 Incredible how they’re both walking after that!!!!”
    Another added: “Horrible. But glad [they are] up and walking.”

    A third replied: “Fast-paced racing but safety should always come first🙏. Glad to see both up and about, hope to see them back in action soon!”
    And a fourth responded: “Bloody hell, that looked ugly. Glad both lads are OK.”
    Six-time MotoGP world champion Marquez has claimed just 15 points from the opening six races of the 2023 season.
    Zarco sits fifth on 88 points, 43 adrift of championship leader Francesco Bagnaia. More
